Griffin Beckett is completely ruined. Expected at a xhurch but kidnapped. He regrets but decides its for the best until he finds she hasnt married.
Wilhelmina Wright is jilted or so she thinks until he reappears and tries to explain it all.
I really was rooting for him throughout the story he is just soo...... lovable.
I will also admit to skipping other books on my teading list to get to this one, mostly because Sumners is one of my favorite authors and I absolutely adore the Lyons Series.
I recieved a free copy so that I might tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book.
Wilhelmina has been left at the altar by her arranged groom on her wedding day, but she’s got the support of her sponsor to set up a new match. Meanwhile, Griffin has missed the wedding because he’s been kidnapped and tied up due to his brother’s debts and finds himself making a new deal to get himself freed. Seven months later, Griffin is horribly injured and somehow gets sent to recover at Wilhelmina’s lodgings. Since they’re thrown together again, Griffin wants to renew his attentions towards Wilhelmina, especially now that he isn’t just in it for the money. It’s a fast-moving novella here with relatively low-angst (except that initial jilting). Quick and steamy and fun to see these two team up.
A great storyline, well developed characters and never knowing what is going to happen next, leads to a great reading experience. Add Mrs. Dove-Lyon to the mix and you have a HEA but that doesn’t always come easy and in this story Griffin works harder than he has ever worked at anything in his life to convince Willie he loves her. Even though their relationship has been strained from the very beginning, I love how they always return to each other. A beautiful love story that has several bumps along the way but they get their HEA. Loved the story and would highly recommend it.

Second Chance or Third Chance?
We first meet the very outspoken self-assured Wilhelmina who has just been left at the alter where she was to be married to the Viscount of Kent. Now what?
Griffin and Willie turned out to deliver us quite a story that is filled with a daunting love romance like I have not read before. The turmoil continues from one situation or crisis to another. Two people who don't want to fall in love but of course eventually do.
We follow them through their ups and downs which are quite complex.
We have investigations, thievery, heartfelt confessions, rules to follow and a romance that is fan worthy.
Mature Advisory:
Their match began their bond to each other but was torn asunder when he was kidnapped. Months later, they had an opportunity to reconnect. She wants independence to do what she wants and he finds he needs a perspective that would bring them their HEA. Short and steamy read.
I received an ARC from Netgalley and leaving my review voluntarily.
A fun new addition to the Lyon’s Den series.
Willie is an heiress but wants to be independent and work as an investigator. Griff is a Viscount who cares for his family especially his wastrel of a brother. Griff also has seen his more than fair share of scandal with women.
Bessie sets up a match between the two of them even though they barely know each other. but on the day of the wedding, the convenient cold contract goes unfulfilled.
Eventually they run across each other and the chemistry begins to sizzle. Adventures and trust issues affect their burgeoning relationship. Marriage is certainly in the future despite the past.
Enjoyed the banter and commitment each has to their lives. Also great to see the mention of characters from other series.
The plot itself moved at a good clip and had several twists and turns which kept things interesting. Overall, a fun read and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Another very fun historical romance novella from Tracy Sumner. This can easily be read as a stand alone. A side character, Tobias Streeter is a main character in Sumner’s A Brazen Bluestocking (which I read and loved). This is also published by Dragonblade as part of The Lyon series which are books written by many different authors. I’m unfamiliar with how they connect.
In this story Wilhelmina Wright is stood up on her arranged marriage day. There is no scandal as no one knew about the nuptials except matchmaker Bessie Dove-Lyon. Wila doesn’t meet up with the intended groom, Griffin Beckett, Viscount Kent until almost a year later. It turns out he was kidnapped and forced to work off his brothers gambling debts. His new business enterprises prove lucrative. When he re-meets Wilhelmina she is being courted by a Duke. Wila isn’t looking for a love match but she wants someone who will let her continue in her specialized interest of analyzing books for businesses. She is a whiz with numbers.
Sumner is always great with yearning and teasing with a glance or a kiss building to passion. She manages all that in this shorter format. Some details do get dropped along the way. I wasn’t clear what happens to Griff's brother and his gambling passion. And I also wasn’t clear how Wila moves so freely in society. She is often without a chaperone. Her family background is mentioned but not explained well. But I loved Griff and Wila together and his grand gesture is perfect. A fun quick read for a lazy afternoon.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for the ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review. (4.5 Stars)
Thank you NetGalley of a very fun read. Griffin is a nephew to Bessie's husband and she shows her care for what few relatives she has. He leaves Willie at the alter but it is not his fault. He must show that he really did want to marry her. Now he doesn't need her money so it must be love. Wilhelmina does love him too but she must stand her own ground. Bessie is just happy she has a love match this time. Can they get into trouble? You bet but with love there can be help in getting them out of trouble,
The Lyon Who Loved Me will keep you captivated all the way through. Tracy Sumner has a of writing style with that has flawed characters who manage to grow and yet retain their personalities which captivates you from the beginning until the very end, sizzling passion, and Wilhelmina and Griffin treading a bumpy path before accepting their attraction for each other.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Tracy Sumner is one of my favorites and this book met my expectations. Part of the Lyons' Den series but definitely a standalone, "The Lyon Who Loved Me" is a short but steamy and fully complete romance. FMC Wilhemina is clever and strong, willing to settle but unwilling to SETTLE, if that makes sense. MMC Griffin is somewhat self-effacing, worried about inadequacy, and ambitious. When set up for an arranged marriage, the two desired each other without knowing each other. Once reunited, they have to overcome distrust by actually getting to know each other, which then allows them to choose each other.
The book does have a few issues, most of which I think can be chalked up to the novella length. I was unclear on whether Griffin's brother truly reformed. I also could not say just how shady Griffin's business really is - though any confusion here is made up by the peek into Tobias Streeter ("A Brazen Bluestocking") origin story.
4.5 stars rounded to 5. Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade for a complimentary ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.
Let me first say I enjoyed this book so much that I read it in one sitting. I am a fan of Tracy Sumner and The Lyon's Den. This book had the beautiful, intelligent bluestocking that goes to Mrs. Dove-Lyon for a titled husband looking for an heiress. Wilhelmina found the befect guy in Griffen, but it didn't work out. There were quite a few twist and turns for them to find their happy ever after. Great story with some wonderful characters and passion heating up the pages. It was nice to get a glimpse of how Tobias Streeter was before The Brazen Bluestocking book. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
