Ummm what. This was incredibly hard to read as an ARC. I know those aren't perfect, but it was still difficult.

I geberally love this author but found the various storylines here too disjointed and the twists were too predictable. Entertaining in a popcorn thriller sense but not my favorite by this author.

Scary in the best way. Love Kubica's twists and turns, I did not see any of it coming. Not in the slightest. Not at all.

I’m usually a big fan of Kubica’s thrillers but this one was confusing. The prologue hooked me and then right off the bat, chapter 1 confused me. I felt like the timeline was all over the place, and it’s hard to go into much detail without spoiling the main plot points. Speaking of- there were too many twists. I think if we focused on the main story and put more effort into that, the story would’ve had more substance. It was like the author was indecisive about what she wanted to happen so she kind of made all of it happen. If you haven’t read Kubica’s books, start elsewhere, because she’s written some great thrillers! THE GOOD GIRL, DON’T YOU CRY, and JUST THE NICEST COUPLE are a few of my favs!

Thank you Harlequin Trade Publishing and Park Row Books for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Meghan Michaels is an ICU nurse inexplicably drawn to a patient dealing with a traumatic brain injury after falling (or jumping, or being pushed) from a high bridge. There is a lot of mystery surrounding her accident, and her presence in general. Meghan's demanding work schedule and rocky relationship with her daughter are both wearing her patience thin and she's starting to wonder if she's imagining connections, or if she may actually be in danger. Mary Kubica is such a star when it comes to writing thrillers with unexpected twists. I read this book all at once-I absolutely could not put it down.

Many thanks to Harlequin Trade Publishing | Park Row for an advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review.

She’s Not Sorry
Mary Kubica

Thank you @htp_hive and @netgalley for the gifted copy to read and review.

This book gained a lot of hype around the time it was released. I sometimes am wary of books with a lot of hype because I don’t know if it’ll live up to it or not. However, I really did like this one! I binged read it in a day or so.

Meghan is a divorced single mother of her teenage daughter Sienna. Recently there has been a string of attacks on women in and around her area. This doesn’t help her anxiety for her and her daughter’s safety, especially with the hours she keeps as a NICU nurse.

This is a very clever storyline filled with twists and turns. Not to mention unreliable characters. I really wasn’t suspecting the big twist until right before it was revealed. Relationships will be tested that you didn’t see coming. I can’t elaborate too much for fear of spoiling one of the twists.

After reading this I will definitely be adding more of Mary’s backlog to my tbr!

Fast paced and packed with twists! The characters were fantastic, and I never knew where it was going. Yet another great one from Kubica.

Another good one from Kubica. This book was fast-paced and there was a good twist I didn't see coming, and there was a lot of tension that paid off.

Quick read and a good thriller that kept me turning pages. It definitely caught me off guard with the twist! I did not see that coming. Another great Mary Kubica read!

3.5 stars.

Meghan Michaels, a dedicated ICU nurse and single mother, struggles to balance her demanding career with raising her teenage daughter. When Caitlin, a patient now in a coma after a dramatic fall off a bridge, is admitted to the hospital, Meghan immediately finds herself interested in this case. The details of Caitlin's injury are very suspicious. Was it an accident, suicide, or was she pushed? Meghan becomes increasingly involved in Caitlin’s case, she finds herself drawn into the lives of Caitlin & her family. At a support group for divorce, she encounters an old high school acquaintance, Natalie, which ends up adding another layer of complexity to Meghan’s life. Caught between her responsibilities as a mother, her growing concern for Caitlin, and her desire to help Natalie, As she uncovers more about Caitlin’s past and the people around her, Meghan realizes that the threat could be closer to home than she ever imagined.

I need to read more of Mary Kubica's work asap! I really liked her writing style. The whole story was so engaging & I was interested from the beginning. Some parts did feel a little slow, like there wasn't much going on & then other parts felt like too much going on. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy, bingeable thriller.

Thank you to Netgalley & Harlequin Trade Publishing for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I love almost ALL of Mary Kubica’s Thrillers and I’m proud to say that I live in the same town as her! I was so excited to get the chance to read this one and it did not disappoint! 4 stars!

This book was so demented, and I absolutely loved that journey for me. It felt like a fast slow burn with the way everything was revealed. A lot didn’t happen from chapter to chapter, but the ending really tied it all up nicely and made me wonder what the heck I just read. I loved everything about it.

"We can only know so much about the people in our lives."

This is my 2nd Mary Kubica book that I have read and just like with Local Missing Woman, this book kept me on edge and wanting for more. I found myself wanting to keep reading because I was not sure what was happening to Meghan. I was questioning a lot of things that was happening in Meghan's brain in the sense of she just couldn't stop herself and was putting herself in sticky situations. She was so wrapped up in the lives of other people that things just kept snowballing. I did feel for her being a nurse and having those hard days with patients and just wanting to save them all.
Twists in books are hit or misses with me and in this I truly did not see them coming (oh yes there are multiple ones).

The topics in this book were heavy and I would proceed with caution while reading.

What is a recent thriller that you have read and enjoyed?

Meghan Michaels is a divorced ICU nurse in Chicago. She’s a single mom taking care of her teenaged daughter as a killer roams the streets murdering single women. A new patient has arrived in the ICUE named Caitlen. It’s thought that she tried to commit suicide, but a witness comes forward stating that they saw Caitlin fighting with someone right before her fall. Could it have been a murder attempt?

My thoughts on this novel:
• I have enjoyed Mary Kubica’s thrillers in the past and this did not disappoint.

• I really enjoyed the twist at the end of the novel. I don’t want to ruin the surprise, so I am not going to get into details.

• The plot was very engaging, and I read this story quickly. I was hooked from the very first page.

• I especially enjoyed the atmosphere and tension in this book. I felt scared for Meghan every time she walked home.
• The unreliable characters made it so that the reader was not sure who to believe.

• The difficulty of the mother and teenage daughter relationship seemed very relatable.

• It was interesting thinking about being a nurse and trying to maintain the balance of being a professional and not digging into patients’ private matters.

• I read this book in April, but I’m still plucking away at getting some past reviews posted.

Overall, She’s Not Sorry by Mary Kubica was an engaging thriller that I could not put down.

My favorite Mary Kubica book yet! Some parts seemed a little unnecessary at first, but then it all tied together great at the end.

I like Mary Kubica but this one was not for me. My best friend is a nurse and I hear her horror stories and all I could think about the whole time I was reading this one was how bad this makes nurses look and that they already have a bad enough rap (especially after covid to some people) and I just couldn't get out of my own head about that the entire time and therefore could not enjoy the story. So all that being said I will order copies for the shop and will recommend to certain customers but would not recommend for nurses or friends of nurses!

She's Not Sorry delivers Mary Kubica's signature twists and turns. Like her other books this one is well-written and fast-paced. She's a master at keeping you guessing and turning page after page.

Thank you so much to Park Row and NetGalley for the earc, my opinion is my own.

I absolutely have loved every book by Mary Kubica and this is no exception.

Meghan is a nurse in an icu ward, we follow her as she is taking care of her patient that attempted suicide Caitlin. At a meeting for divorce support, she runs into her old high school friend. Now the twists start coming. Who is telling the truth? Was Caitlin murdered or did she attempt suicide? This all comes thundering to a great finale that still leaves you with some questions.
