This was such a twisty mystery! I am still trying to wrap my mind around all of it. I really love how she plotted it, and some of the twists really surprised me. I do wish that I knew more about the ending! It was super good, but left a little too open-ended, and the ending felt a bit rushed. I would have loved some more details and more of the mystery fleshed out.

Another fast-paced nail-biter from Kubica. Chicago ICU nurse Meghan Michaels is trying to find her footing as a single mom of a teen after her recent divorce when a new patient arrives in her unit and upends her world, despite being in a coma. Going back and forth in time, with twists I didn't see coming and a relatable yet unreliable narrator, I loved the complex yet easy to follow narrative and the characters being allowed to be morally grey. Maybe dark grey. Read this if you don't need your fiction tied up in a neat bow but still want something compulsively readable.

Mary Kubica’s books are always very thrilling and deeply character-driven, and She’s Not Sorry is no exception. When a critically injured patient is brought into the ICU where nurse Meghan works to support herself and her teenage daughter after a divorce, it's apparent that something really bad happened and she is overly concerned about the young woman… but why? Is it because there’s a series of assaults on women happening throughout the city? Or because of an incident that happened with her daughter, which is the opening scene of the book? How do all these things tie together? As the book jumps in time, chapter by chapter, all the connections slowly start to draw together until the big reveal in the middle of the book. Then it becomes a heartpounding race to the conclusion, where it all comes together.

I received Shes Not Sorry as an ARC book about 8-10 days before release date and I devoured it.
OMG! Sitting on the edge of my seat with heart racing, stomach in knots and asking “whhhhhatttt? Everything I love about thriller books and M. Kubica checked off all the boxes in her latest novel.
This is three plot storyline being told in one read. It kept my full attention trying to figure out how they will tie in together.
Caitlin is brought into the hospital and is in critical condition after a suicide attempt or is it attempted homicide? Hmmmm
Meghan is an experienced ICU nurse with her own family issues. She is recently divorced and sharing custody of her 16 year old daughter, Sienna. Meghan finds herself bonding with Caitlin’s family because there’s a common thread of suicide in her life too. Hmmmm
Lastly, there is a mad man on the loose that is hurting women. The incidences are taking place to close to home for Meghan’s comfort zone.
I gave this a four star rating because I have few questions with the time line. It was not adding up and moved a little slow. Maybe I was overthinking…
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC read in exchange for my review.

I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this book. It was my first Mary Kubica book and I loved it. There were twists and turns I didn't see coming and even the ones I did, I was happy with the way things turned out.

I've seen a lot of rave reviews posted for this one so it's possible this was just a case of not for me. It sucked me in at the beginning and the premise was good. Meghan Michaels is an ICU nurse and one day a young female patient arrives who allegedly jumped from a bridge. Then a witness comes forward and calls everything into question and Meghan starts doing some investigating. I wish the focus had stayed there but instead there's a whole different side plot and a lot of Meghan walking around Chicago. I did feel like the characters were well developed, I just felt like there was too much going on with the plot. But again, I've seen a lot of people loving this one so I recommend trying it yourself.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing | Park Row for providing me a digital reviewer copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Read Completed 4/10/24 | 3.75 - 4 stars

THE GOOD GIRL (2014) | 4 stars
PRETTY BABY (2015) | 3.5 stars
DON'T YOU CRY (2016) | 3 stars
EVERY LAST LIE (2017) | 3.75 stars
WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT (2018) | 2.5 stars
THE OTHER MRS. (2020) | 3 stars
LOCAL WOMAN MISSING (2021) | 3.75 stars
JUST THE NICEST COUPLE (2023) | 4 stars

Mary Kubica is super hit or miss for me, this was one of the better reads for me. This felt like it flowed fairly well, and although it takes a while to get going, there are some really good things that happen in the second half of the book! I really appreciated the twists and there were definitely things I didn't see coming.

Aside from the slower pace in the beginning, I think my only complaint really is that things just don't quite wrap up cleanly. I wanted things to be more connected to really pack a bigger punch. There are a couple different story lines happening here and I think if one more of the could have been connected to the main event, it really would have had a lasting impression. Instead, there were all these big and little pieces that didn't really have anything to do with each other half the time.

I was going to round up and give this four stars, but the more I think about some of the messier parts of it, the more I'm going to stay in the 3 star range at 3.75 stars. This was an enjoyable read and I really like the twisty parts that got me! But some of the plotting was messy and a few things just dropped off in order to make the reader doubt things but didn't have a good explanation.

I did enjoy my read and I'm happy with the reading experience and I'm going to stop thinking about it before I take away any more stars.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book. Meghan is an ICU nurse who is recently divorced and trying to raise a teenage daughter. One night, a mystery patient comes in, assumed to have jumped off a bridge and Meghan some how ends up more intertwined in her life.
The first half of the book focuses on the woman and the bridge who is in a coma with not too much action. Mary is a good writer enough to keep you going to wanting to know how the story plays out. Eventually more twists happen and everything starts to fit together. The ending was great however some plot holes were never addressed. I get the concept of leaving the reader guessing but some ideas I wished were explained better. Overall a great read.

**Thank you so much to Harlequinn Books for sending me an ebook ARC**

If you love a book that keeps you constantly second guessing yourself, your theories, and the characters, you need to get this book!

This book followers Meghan, an ICU nurse who is treating a patient with a traumatic brain injury after she supposedly jumped off a bridge. However, new evidence comes to light that suggests she may not have jumped, but been pushed. Meghan becomes very close with Meghan's family and the situation in general, and starts to search for answers. However, then she starts to worry that she and her teenage daughter Sienna may be in danger.

This book has more twists and turns than almost any other book. It is very fast paced and a quick read! At several points, I was so shocked that I had to set the book down just to process what happened. The author weaves together all of these small details throughout the book that seem insignificant and creates this masterfully written puzzle. I could have never guessed some of the major plot twists! This is definitely a book where you are constantly second guessing and suspecting every one of the characters and what's happening and true. It was hard for me to even develop a theory because I had so many questions and there were so many different pieces to the puzzles.

This is not a book that you want to read late at night or before you go out by yourself. It is very suspenseful!

One tiny detail that frustrated me a little reading this book was the repetitive mentions of directions and street names, always detailing the roads she walks to get everywhere. They weren't significant to the plot and at times took me out of the story because it was kind of confusing and unhelpful.

Please be sure to check the trigger warnings because it does discuss very heavy themes, especially surrounding suicide, domestic abuse, and kidnapping.

I binged this book in two days, I couldn’t put it down!

It’s fast paced and full of suspense and twists. There was one major twist that I didn’t see coming that was just SO GOOD! I think it's best to go into this one blindly and just enjoy the ride. I have been a big Mary Kubica fan for years, and I think her books just kept getting better and better. If you’re looking for a thriller that will take you on a rollercoaster full of twist then check this one out.

FAST PACED thriller! First Mary Kubica book and I am hooked, can't wait to read her other books. An ICU RN becomes very curious about her patient who was presumed to jump off a bridge and severely injured and is unresponsive with multiorgan injuries all while there is an attacker on the loose in Chicago that has this RN very concerned about her and her daughter's wellbeing. Unexpected twists & keeps you guessing till the very end. Highly recommend!

I absolutely loved this book! This is the 2nd book I’ve read by Kubica and I find her writing style so smooth and intriguing. As a nurse, I naturally took to the MC. She was very likable even after learning the bad things she did. This book was hard to put down. I enjoyed the twists as each characters inner demons unraveled throughout the story.
