I could not get into this one. I normally love Mary Kubica but this one felt very rushed and in a different, amateur voice than seemed unlike Kubica.

Wonderful read! Mary Kubica books have always been great for me, I'm so happy I got to read this one early. It was quite suspenseful, twists and turns you wont see coming. I suspected 1 thing to happen, and it did. But SEVERAL other things also happened back to back that I didn't expect. I love how Mary Kubica always keeps you on your toes while you're reading! A fantastic "who done it" that'll keep you on the edge of your seat!

I received this ARC from NetGalley & Harlequin Trade Publishing to readeview. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book.

My first read from Kubica was a mystery at every turn. I felt as though the first 47% of the book was a lot of filler. I had no idea what the plot of the book was until halfway through. When the book picked up I truly did enjoy it and was at the edge of my seat the entire time. When the initial twist came, I appreciated how the timeline intersected and was not at all expecting all that had ensued. I will say the last twist seemed quite rushed and not developed enough throughout the entirety of the book. I also would have loved to see the storyline of Caitlin’s family developed a bit more.

Overall, I rate this book 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4) because it had everything I wanted from a mystery and it was genuinely filled with suspense. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Do you need a page turner from the start? You won’t want to put this book down as this book draws you in and won’t let go until the end!

Meghan is a divorced single mother working as an ICU nurse. Her work and personal life are equally demanding, especially raising a teenager. She also has to worry about the rise in crime close to her neighborhood and her high-school friend going through a domestic violence situation. Can she juggle it all and stay safe?

Meghan is assigned to Caitlin, a patient who jumped off a bridge over a railroad track, where she is now fighting for her life. This hits close to home as Meghan’s sister died of suicide by jumping from a bridge. There is a man that visits Caitlin. When confronted, he quickly leaves. Caitlin’s father shares information and a voice mail he receives right before her suicide attempt. Is it what it seems? Was she pushed? Who is the man who visited Caitlin? Is he connected to her accident? Are people who they seem to be?

I loved the plot and the unassuming characters that have secrets! The unexpected twists and turns will keep you guessing until the end. Just when you think you have figured it out, something else is revealed. I didn’t see the end coming! A perfect book to take on vacation where you can read for hours. Be sure to add this to your TBR list!

Meghan Michaels is a nurse, recently divorced, and trying to raise a teenage daughter. To say she is stretched thin is an understatement. From the opening line to the last sentence this book is a thrill ride with twists and turns you do not see coming. The only reason this is not a solid 5 stars is there are some answered questions that I would have loved see play out. The story could be left as a stand alone, but I would love to see more about Meghan and her life in Chicago, hopefully her story will continue.

Wow! Really engaging and different book. I read the whole thing in two sittings. Twisty and dark with complex characters. Start this book early so you can read it in one sitting and not stay up all night! Skip if you don't like some descriptions of medical procedures/hospital setting.

Probably the most exciting and thrilling book I have read this year. I stayed up way too late to finish the book. The twists were very clever and shocking I never saw them coming. There were also secrets, secrets that could change the lives of more than one character.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Did I just binged this book in less than 24 hours? Yes, yes I did. When I say I’m in the mood for thriller this is what I mean. A binge worthy ride.

Brief Summary-
Meghan is an ICU nurse and single mom. Although she tries not to get attached to her patients, she can't help but be pulled to one patient under her care, Caitlin. A woman in a coma with a traumatic brain injury due to her fall from a bridge. Was it suicide? Did someone push her? Meghan is also still dealing with the aftermath of her divorce and while attending a support group, she runs into Natalie, a woman that she went to high school with over 20 years ago. Natalie appears to be in abusive relationship with her husband, and even though she won't open up, Meghan wants to help her any way she can….She has a lot to juggle right now but her main focus is her daughter and figuring out what happen to her patient.

My Thoughts-
Okay soooooo my jaw was on the floor. I devoured this one. This book was truly a ride. Like I kept thinking to myself, “oh this is how the story is going to turn out” and I was wrong every single time. What I loved most about this book was the way the author successful weaves together multiple dark storylines. Kept me guessing until the very end. This is a slow burn book but once everything starting unfolding , I kept getting whiplash…like waaaait let me catch up and breathe for a second. *chef kiss*There is one twist halfway through that had me questioning what I had just read. I had to go back and read the paragraph for a second time just to absorb the shock. feel like this one of those thrillers you have to pay attention to every detail because it was mentioned for a reason.

This is my first book by Mary Kubica and I’m excited to check out her other work. I recommend this book to all Thriller/Mystery lovers. She’s not sorry will be available to read on 4/2/2024 add this book to your TBR.

“It’s all anyone is talking about, the woman who dropped over twenty feet from a bridge and just nominally survived.”
Here are reasons to read the Thriller book:

A Nurse - Meghan is a nurse working in a hospital when a patient comes in
A Jumper - Caitlin has jumped from a bridge and they are not sure if she will survive
A Stalker - Additionally there have been some reports of a stalker that is attacking women as well. How is it all connected?

I was originally drawn to this book because of the purple cover and who wrote it. But I have to say that this book is very slow to get going. The first ⅔ is really all about Meghan caring for Caitlin as well as connecting with an old high school friend. But then a major twist happens in the last third of the book and everything gets turned on it’s head. This is where it gets very intense and crazy. I think I would have rated it higher if the pacing was more consistent. However, I would say, this book really took me by surprise for a thriller.

Cue Taylor swift’s “you’re not sorry” which was stuck in my head the whole time while reading this. My first by this author and I was pleasantly surprised! Didn’t see the twist coming and I’m excited to read more by her.

I just finished up this ARC for @marykubica upcoming release, She's Not Sorry - and I absolutely loved this. This story gripped me from the first page. This is definitely more of a slow burn but in my opinion, worth it. The pacing of this book allowed for Mary to slowly bring you into what was going on with each character.

This book follows Meghan, an ICU nurse, divorced, and navigating raising a teenage daughter. One day a patient comes in to the ICU, in a coma, after jumping off of a bridge. Meghan tries to keep her distance but she finds herself sucked into this patient, her family, and what really happened at the bridge. But with that comes danger, not only for her but for her daughter.

This book was truly a ride. It was everything I look for in a thriller, with so many different things that keep you guessing and a twisty ending that you'd never expect. Another amazing, TBR worthy book from Mary! Release date April 2, 2024. 💫

As a nurse, I enjoyed reading the point of view of the main female nurse character in this book. Sometimes slow burn thrillers like this bother me. While the characters were well-developed and the premise for the book was intriguing, I was confused with the timeline (it wasn't very clear about the timing of Meghan and Caitlin's reconnection and Caitlin's becoming the patient). I also felt that the slow build-up of the book's first half led to a real let-down of an ending.

This book was definitely entertaining, and kept me hooked until the end. There were a lot of complicated pieces to the story, and I got a bit confused by the timeline. Overall, this is a good solid read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

After a bit of a slow start, Mary Kubica's latest kicks into full gear about a third of the way in. The twists come fast and furious with an ending that, even though I saw it coming, still knocked it out of the park. Another solid offering from Ms. Kubica and an altogether great read.

It was a nice quick read. I liked it but figured out the ending about halfway through. Was hoping for a few more plot twists but overall was a great read and I’d highly recommend.

An interesting psychological mystery with twists that will surprise you up to the end. Not quite a thriller, but an intriguing read.

This was a great book! I kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I loved the characters and become invested in them and couldn’t wait to find out what happened. I also love the writing style. All the characters and events were described in such a way that you feel like you are there. The twists and turns happened around each corner and I could not wait to find out how it ended. Overall, I give this book 4 stars as it was a gripping thriller and I could not predict the plot twists or the ending.
