She’s Not Sorry follows Meghan, an ICU nurse who is assigned to care for a new female patient. The patient is fighting for her life after attempting to jump off a bridge. During this situation Meghan is also dealing with the fact that her daughter is missing.

I really enjoyed this novel however it was a bit to follow at times. The plot twists were sometimes predictable. I did enjoy this novel and would read further novels by Mary Kubica. I wish the ending did not feel so rushed and was less sudden.

Meghan is an ICU nurse and when a patient comes into her care in a coma after jumping off a bridge, questions come into play if she really jumped or if someone pushed her. Meghan finds herself getting too close to this patient and her family, and it may end up affecting her and her daughter’s life more than Meghan would like.

This book definitely left me wanting to keep reading to find out what happened, and the twists did not disappoint. If you’re looking for a fast paced thriller, She’s Not Sorry is for you. Looking forward to see what Mary Kubica has next up her sleeves.

I absolutely LOVED this book! As the resident thriller girlie in my book club, it can be hard to find a story with a twist that surprises me. Well, consider me thoroughly surprised and entertained. Chilling, spooky, and makes you question who you're rooting for at every turn - this is a sure to be a hit!

This was a fun read!

Mary Kubica did a really good job at creating a eery, stressful vibe.

The book as 2 different "dilemmas" going on, and our MC (Meghan) is involved in both. 

Meghan is an ICU nurse, and her most recent patient, Caitlin, is in a coma after jumping off a bridge in a suicide attempt.  The family is trying to figure out what led Caitlin to suicide, when a witness comes forward saying they saw someone PUSH Caitlin off the bridge and she didn't jump...

Meghan is also trying to keep herself and her daughter safe from an unknown man who is assaulting women at night. 

I was pretty sucked into the story! It held my interest, and I really wanted to know the truth.  The twists were fun! I was shocked with one, and the other felt a bit more obvious.

However, I feel like I was left with unanswered questions. I was waiting for some of the loose ends to be tied up, but the book ended, and I wasn't given all the answers. This is what brought my rating down to 4 stars. Bummer!

However, Ido recommends you read this one next month!

Mry Kubica has done it again. Exciting fearsome and surprising story. Meaghan, a critical care nurse in ICU department. In comes a woman, who supposedly tried to commit a suicide. In comes the parents who seem somewhat odd, no tears. not too many emotions. Meaghan is a nurse who does some private "investigation" on her own. She has a 16 year old daughter Sienna, ex-husband Ben.
Then comes Nat, an old highschool friend, who seems to be abused by her husband. She is returning to him, after he begs her, and promises to change. Like many abused women Nat also returns. Comes in Meaghan, trying to befriend her, the tell each other secrets, as they seem have trusty friendship.
Meagan worries about Sienna, her daughter because the city is quite active with muggings, rapings and other violence.
By this time I am sure something is not right, but cannot figure out. Luke, another friend is kind and helping Meaghan with her fears.
There is Jackson, Caitlin's (the suicide attempt lady) brother who also lies. Meaghans world is full of suspicions, lies, fears, walks alone, fearing that someone is following.
Things turn to a twisting rollercoaster with Meaghan's life around her. Possible murder, police questioning, her secrets reveled, ransom demands, patient's personality comes to life. Meaghan is devastated and worried that her own secrets will come to life.
More twists comes to life, more desperate actions will happen. Part two turns the story around and tells what was happening before. I have had my suspicions, only to change them to something else, or someone else. We will get towards the end of the book and for me it was such a surprise which I never could have predicted. I expect this book becoming a real popular thriller.

This was one of my many anticipated 2024 reads and it truly did not disappoint- I was hooked from the prologue.

One of my favorite things in books is when an author leaves little breadcrumbs that are easily missed and then seeing how they all tie together in the end.

The reveal/twist at the end of part 1 was so unexpected 😱

And once the twists started, they kept coming 😩

That ending? Who knew?! I considered the option early on but then fell for the misdirection and I love when that happens.

This fun read comes out April 2nd. If you’re a fan of twisty thrillers, this one is for you.

Mary Kubica does it again! This thriller was perfection! A slow build, but all of the background information was totally necessary to bring readers to the twist: one I did NOT see coming! I did not solve this one on my own, and my jaw was on the floor. Once the twist occurs, the hits keep on coming too- it’s not a one shock and done! A top thriller, for sure! Thank you #netgalley!

Thank you for allowing me to read this book early. I hurt myself so it took a bit to finish. When I was reading I enjoyed it and found it hard to put down. It started slow but then got twisty! I did want more at the end. I have a few questions. Overall a good thrilling read.

This is the first book I've ever read by Mary and I loved it. I was thinking about things the whole time to try to figure out the plot twist and needless to say there ended up being multiple! This is a well written and fast paced read. There was only one question left unanswered at the end of the book regarding the wedding ring. I'm sure it was meant to be a small cliffhanger that of course will just be on the readers mind to wonder about.

Every time I review one of the authors books I find it hard to review because even discussing the plot a little could give something away and I never want to do that. So I say go into this knowing as little as possible, trust that the author is excellent at what she does and just enjoy the ride because it was a really fun one. I will say that this is a slow burn but it was somehow still a binge worthy and pretty fast read. There’s a couple of different mystery threads running throughout and I was really impressed by the way the author pulled everything together. The city setting with some awful things happening to women made for some very uneasy reading and added an additional creep factor to the story. Add in some good twists with a super solid one that made me do a double take and this was a really well executed thriller that I throughly enjoyed.

This is my second Mary Kubica book, and it seems like she is forming a pattern of slow burn thriller novels. The last book I read, The Other Mrs., had a similar layout and the ending made it so worth it. Unfortunately this time around I felt like the ending felt very rushed and incomplete. She is brilliant at creating layers of a story that all combine into one, but the ending felt like she only tied up one lose end and left the rest hanging. Mary truly knows how to create a tense atmosphere in her stories and transfer it to the reader, as I did find myself extra “jumpy” while reading. I am hoping this book is a fluke and continue to plan to read other Mary Kubica novels in the future.

The first-person narrator, Meghan Michaels, an ICU nurse in a Chicago hospital, is a divorced mother of a 16-year-old daughter. Meghan is good at her job and loves helping people. Despite vowing not to get involved with her patients' lives, sometimes they get to her.
It's winter, and Meghan's small, run-down apartment is within walking distance of the hospital. The author did a great job of making me feel that cold wind whipping off the lake and hear the L rattling down the tracks, shaking the apartment's windows enough to halt conversation. There has been a recent spate of rapes and assaults against young women in the area, which adds to the tension and creepiness as we brace for the inevitable.
Meghan's latest patient is an attempted suicide victim, Caitlin Beckett, who jumped/fell/was pushed from a pedestrian bridge onto the railroad tracks below and is now in a coma, her chances of survival uncertain. Meghan soon gets to know her loving family, as well as a couple of more sinister visitors, and she soon learns that the relationships are not all as they seem.
Other plot threads come together in surprising ways: Meghan's contentious relationship with her ex-husband, Ben; struggles raising her teenage daughter, Sienna, and keeping her safe; and a chance meeting with an old high-school classmate, Natalie Cohen Roche, who appears to be a victim of spousal abuse.
The story doesn't unfold in a completely linear fashion, which adds to one of the major twists.
Despite some questionable moral decisions, Meghan remains a likable protagonist.
Highly recommended!

Honestly, I almost DNF this multiple times. I just couldn’t get into the story and I couldn’t get behind any of the characters. There was too much going on without enough focus. The “bad guy” was easy to figure out and the twists were kinda bland. I’ve enjoyed other titles by the author and was just overall a bit disappointed.

I enjoyed this book. I thought the beginning was a little bit slow but it definitely picked up. I was not expecting the twist at the end and was hooked to find out what happened.

Mary Kubica has been a hit or miss author for me- having loved The Other Mrs, but not enjoying Local Woman Missing (unpopular opinion, I know). I had heard great things about She's Not Sorry, but was skeptical, as others loved Local Woman Missing, when I didn't.

I started reading She's Not Sorry and finished it in less than 24 hours. It wasn't a book that I had to get into, I was hooked from the beginning. I figured out one twist very early on, but there was more that I never would have expected. At one point, my jaw quite literally dropped, and I had to reread what I had just read to make sure I wasn't mistaken! I think if I hadn't figured out the one twist, this would have absolutely been a five star read for me.

This movie should 100% be turned into a TV series or movie, as I envisioned it as one in my head the entire time.

A good thriller that starts off with a real hook, and readable by even casual mystery/thriller fans. Any Mary Kubica fans will be happy with this addition to her catalog.

Mary Kubica has done it again!! I’m definitely NOT SORRY that I binged this book.
This was such a twisty thriller that had my jaw dropping several times. Multiple story lines were weaved together seamlessly. And the pace was fast while keeping me engaged throughout.

This book grabbed me from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down! I am a nurse and thought Mary Kubica did very well on her nursing research! I loved all the twists in the end, but I wish it gave a more definite ending.

Soon, a witness comes forward with shocking details of Caitlin and the investigation changes. Was Caitlin pushed, and by who?

Meghan has a hard time being emotionally unattached to this patient and wants to find out more information. But she realizes that she and her own daughter could be the next victim.

Thoughts:
I honestly had no idea where the plot was going here until 72%.
I think we dug to deep into the background of being a nurse it took over a lot of the plot/mystery.
I had a hard time connecting to any of these characters or understanding their rationale.
The language for domestic violence was odd.
I'm was still confused about other characters' involvement and importance by the end.

I really enjoyed this book! It immediately sucked me in and I finished it in less than 24 hours. There were some good twists (though one was a little predictable) and I liked how things were revealed as the book went on. It reminded me a little bit of Local Woman Missing by the same author, which I also enjoyed.

I do think the ending was a little rushed and felt a bit unfinished, and one of the side plots didn’t really add much to the story for me. But overall, the story kept me engaged the entire time and I think this book would appeal to both newer and long-time thriller readers, especially those that like morally grey characters, secrets, and complex relationships.
