She's Not Sorry follows Meghan an ICU Nurse as she tries to navigate her life as a newly single mom. During a shift at the hospital, a patient is brought in after jumping from a bridge. Did she jump or was she pushed?

Overall, I liked this book. I spent the first half of the book trying to figure out the twist some correctly guessed and others not. Did I think it was better than Local Woman Missing? No, but it was a fun quick read. I did feel like I still had questions at the end but who doesn't love to continue to think about the ending long after finishing the book!? 4/5 stars.

Thank you to netgalley for providing an ARC of this book!

I am a regular reader of Mary Kubica's new release so I was excited to get this chance to read "She's Not Sorry" in advance. Ms Kubica is a good writer, particularly with character development.

However this book was a struggle to get into and stick with. It felt dragged out and predictable in the end. I may try the audiobook to see if that helps keep my attention but overall this wasn't my favorite of Mary Kubica's.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in advance of publication.

I was excited to start this one. I was intrigued from the start then I found it got a little boring towards the middle. Wasn’t my fave by her but the twists were good and my heart was pounding but it wasn’t until about 30% left of the book.

4.5 stars rounded up. I have read all of Mary Kubica’s books, and this is her best yet. It kept me guessing all the way through, at times correctly and at others completely off the mark.

Meghan is a recently divorced single mother raising a teenage daughter while working full time as an ICU nurse. A patient, Caitlin, is brought in one day suffering catastrophic injuries after jumping from a pedestrian bridge. Normal one to maintain professional distance from her patients, Meghan finds herself quickly entangled with Caitlin’s family as it’s revealed she may not have jumped at all. As that mystery unfolds and Meghan gets pulled in deeper, there is also a predator on the loose terrorizing women on the streets of Chicago adding to Meghan’s fears for the safety of her daughter and herself.

I had so many suspicions and theories as I was reading this book. One of the things I liked most about was that even the things I was correct about were woven in a way that had me second guessing myself right up until the moment the twists were actually revealed. I can genuinely say that I continued to be surprised until the very last page. I don’t want to say too much and give anything away. At times it may feel like there too many different threads running through the book, but overall it was so well-crafted that it all works.

This is a book that will make you think about actions and consequences, right and wrong, and all the gray area in between. It will have you questioning who to trust and who may not be everything they seem.

This one is hard for me…. Did I like this book yes and no.

I feel like I read the prologue of this book and then spent over half of the book waiting for something to happen. Then it finally happened and was done in a blink. Then I spent the last part of the book trying to work out the timeline of how things happened. At the end I was still left with more questions than answers. Which was a big bummer because the only reason I didn’t dnf was because I wanted to get some answers.

There were a lot of twists. I did see the big one coming and I felt the story ended pretty abruptly after that, with not much wrap up.

I didn’t really like any of the characters in the book. They were all flawed in the worst sort of ways. A lot of the actions that the FMC took I couldn’t wrap my head around or it irritated me.

I wanted to like this book. I LOVED Local Woman Missing, but this one just wasn’t it for me.

I enjoyed She’s Not Sorry so much it might even be my new favorite Mary Kubica novel! I am very slow at reading ebooks, but I found this story to be entirely bingeable due to how fast paced it is and how engaged I felt throughout the entire book. I never felt like there was down time where my mind wandered or where I wished the pace would pick up because it was perfectly balanced.

This thriller kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and there were so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming! Actual jaw dropping moments where I had to pause my reading to really think about it and everything the twists impacted. All of the characters kept me second guessing everything I thought I knew the entire time, they’re all so well written that I didn’t trust a single one of them.

I love nothing more than a well written thriller that keeps me engaged throughout the entire story, and She’s Not Sorry absolutely delivered on all fronts.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and the author Mary Kubica for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

ICU nurse & single mother, Meghan Matthews, has finally settled into her life after divorce when she reconnects with an old friend from high school, Nat Cohen Roche. Nat is caught up trying to leave her abusive husband & Meghan is determined to help save her. Meghan spends her days caring for a young woman in a coma who may or may not have jumped off of a bridge willingly & her nights worrying about keeping both herself & her daughter safe from the frequent attacks on women in the neighborhood.

As this story unfolds I didn’t know who to trust. It seemed many of the characters weren’t who they appeared. This book sucked me in from the beginning in an “I can’t put this down” type of way. I found myself holding my breath at times & willing Meghan to make other choices in the way you do when watching a horror movie. The twist here shocked me to the point of having to reread several times to wrap my head around it & had my heart racing from the start of Part Two until the very end. This is a must read in my opinion.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing & Mary Kubica for the advanced copy of this must read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ thriller, due out on April 2, 2024!

Let me start by saying that Mary Kubica is one of my favorite thriller authors. I love her writing style and how she develops her plots. That being said, "She's Not Sorry" was good, but not great. The writing was decent, but the pacing was very off. The story didn't start to kick off until about 60% of the way through. And while it was quite twisty, I could still predict the ending fairly easily.

I was so excited when I was approved for an ARC of this book. Mary is becoming one of my favorite authors.
We meet Meghan who full time nurse and single mom to her teenage daughter. One day when Meghan is working, a patient named Caitlin arrives in a coma, having jumped from a bridge. Did Caitlin push herself? Or did someone push her? Meghan is not the type to get emotionally involved with her patients but this time she gets a little too close. Meghan realizes that her and her daughter could be next. This book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. It was tense with many twists and turns. If you enjoyed Just the Nicest Couple, I’d definitely recommend this book! I’m looking forward to reading the rest of Mary’s books. Thank you Netgalley, Mary Kubica and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC!

Meghan is trying to figure out how to be a single mom to a teenage daughter and work as a full time ICU nurse. When a new patient comes in named Cailtin, who apparently jumped from a bridge, Meghan starts to question things.

When a witness comes forward with shocking details about Cailtin’s fall, they learn she was pushed…but by who?

Meghan has always tried to stay emotionally detached from her patients but this time she seems to have gotten too close. Only when she’s gotten too close does she realize it may be too late.

This book was a lot of fun. It was seemingly mundane, and then we started getting into things and the pieces started coming together, and the twists began. I didn’t realize when I signed up for this one that it was a medically adjacent thriller, which was a surprise for me because I love this usually, as was the case here.

I felt that while this was a plot driven story, the characters were well developed, and I felt like I was right there with them on this journey. I really enjoyed not only the main character, but the side characters as well and I felt like they added a lot to the story and kept it moving forward. The main character was really interesting and multi-faceted. I loved how she was working on finding her way as a single mom. Her daughter was also an interesting character. Being a teenager is hard, and then to find out what she did would be tough. Meghan’s ex, Ben was also interesting, his character showed up towards the end and I was satisfied the way that his plot line wrapped up and tied in with the overall plot.

The pacing was on par with what I like for a thriller if not a little slower, but not horribly slow. The second half of the book was much faster than the first, but that makes sense as things were building in the beginning. Despite a slower start, I did stay engaged and kept wanting to know what was happening and didn’t want to put it down. I think that sometimes the world building takes a while and that was the case here, it wasn’t bad.

I think that the author did such a fantastic job with the writing in this one. Not only were the characters on point, but the emotions felt by them were also fantastic. I could feel what they felt through the page and boy was it a journey.

I think that this is my favorite book yet by Mary Kubica and can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

What a book! I was so thrilled to receive this ARC as Local Woman Missing is one of my favorite reads. She's Not Sorry lived up to every expectation I had of it. If you like twists that you never see coming, a fast paced thriller and a book that you can't put down, you're going to love this one!

My favorite part of Mary Kubica’s books are that you feel what the character feels. This book was suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole second half. I love books where you are suspicious of every character. Even when you think you know what could happen; it all suddenly changes. I read the entire second half in pretty much one sitting and I can’t remember the last time I did that. My face when I got to part two was utter shock. I also loved how it ended, I thought it was perfect.

This was the easiest five stars for me. I truly enjoyed every minute of it and cannot wait until it comes out so everyone can enjoy it! Thank you NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing and Mary Kubica for the opportunity to read this book early!

📖REVIEW// SHE'S NOT SORRY BY MARY KUBICA📖

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

She's Not Sorry is my new favorite Mary Kubica novel! This had me hooked from the very first page. Kubica is the queen of bingeable, fast-paced thrillers. This had me on the edge of my seat, and I highly recommend that you pick this up on April 2nd! I can't wait to hear your thoughts.

Another Mary Kubica thriller filled with twists and turns that keep the reader on their toes. I've heard great things about Mary Kubica's past works so I was excited to dive into this novel. She's Not Sorry centers around Meghan, a divorced critical care nurse, who is balancing taking care of her daughter and working a stressful job. When a woman shows up at the hospital in a coma after an alleged suicide attempt, the suspense begins as Meghan further investigates the mysterious case. There were a ton of twists and turns throughout the novel and each character's motives are questioned. I would recommend this novel to anyone who likes psychological thrillers with twists and an unreliable narrator.

3.5 ⭐️I love Mary’s writing and books! However, this book was an extreme slow burn and didn’t pick up until 60ish%. Also while it was easy to read the chapters were a bit long which for me doesn’t make it a page turning psychological thriller. The ending had a lot of twists which was good and kept me guessing however, I was easily able to guess who the rapist was. I would still recommend this book to my friends!

I love this author, but occasionally, her novel can be a bit confusing. Her most recent novel, She’s Not Sorry, is a twisty and tense story, but there’s a point where I completely lost the thread and never recovered. But it’s still an entertaining plot, and the stage couldn’t be creepier; the ICU unit and a patient who hasn’t regained consciousness.
Meghan is a single mom of her teenage daughter and working long and demanding hours as an ICU nurse. It doesn’t help her stress and tension that someone has been attacking women near her neighborhood. Meghan’s patient is a young lady who tried to kill herself by jumping off of a bridge over the railroad tracks. Meghan prides herself on keeping her personal feelings out of her job duties. But as she watches her patient’s parents stay bedside and struggle with their daughter’s actions, Meghan can’t help but feel a strong emotional pull. Her feelings cross the line to a personal level, an intensely all-consuming level. With each day of wondering if and when her patient will open her eyes, Meghan enters a mindset that’s not normal or healthy.
What actually happened that night on the bridge, and how are these events tied to the person attacking women in the area? Keeping her signature tense pace and twisty plot, Mary Kubica entertains the reader to a nerve-wracking ending.
