Thank you to Net Gallery, Harlequin Trade Publication and Mary Kubica for this ARC . I was beyond thrilled to receive it as Mary Kubica is one of my favorite authors and I have read every book she has written. I highly recommend this book.
I found myself rooting for the villain in this book before understanding who the villain was!
Meghan is trying to find balance between being a single parent and working as a full time nurse. One night while she is on duty a patient named Caitlin is brought in with a traumatic brain injury and other serious injuries after she jumped from a bridge.
Days later a witness comes forward with details that question if this was a suicide attempt or an attempted murder. Was she pushed? If so, why, and by who?
The book is divided into two parts told in Meghan’s POV. The storylines come together as the plot builds and twist!
This book blew me away, I loved it. A perfect 5 stars for me!

Thank you #Netgalley

Wow I did not see this one coming! Meghan is an ICU nurse, a single mother, and a woman of many secrets. When her small city begins to see a series of women being targeted and attacked, her paranoia begins to spiral. To top if off, at work she is assigned a case of a young girl who "jumped" off a bridge which makes her then worry even more than maybe this was not a suicide and part of the chain of attacks. Throughout the read we see Meghan connect with someone from her divorce support group, her co workers and of course her daughter. But in the end, who can she trust?

So good! Continue to love this author and her books.

Positives:
Perfect pacing, binged it in one sitting
Well executed interweaving of three twisty plot lines that made for a fascinating read!
Great unexpected twists that work
Many well-developed characters and the reader has reason to be suspicious of almost all of them

Negatives:
My only negative is the last 5% of the book seemed a bit rushed and unplausible, but I loved every minute up until then

I have already started telling my friends about this book and to be on the look out for it when it is released in spring of 2024. One of the best books I have read this year!

This was my first Mary Kubica book and won't be my last. That said, I almost DNFed it around 25% as I was distracted by typos (a lot of typos!); I'm so glad I didn't because the second half totally grabbed me. This eARC isn't scheduled to be released until April 2024, so I assume (hope) it'll go through another round of editing before its final release.

It's hard to write about this book without giving anything away. I audibly gasped after reading the first paragraph of Part II. I was completely surprised by a few twists and was trying to figure out how the story would unfold from the get go. Kubica does an excellent job of building suspense and creating complex characters. I look forward to reading more by her!

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review! This was a fun one!

Meghan Michaels is a nurse, working hard to support her daughter. She focuses on a patient named Caitlin and learns more about Caitlin's brain injury that she suffered from jumping off of a bridge. While everyone assumes that Caitlin jumped, some details emerge which may suggest that Caitlin was pushed. Meghan becomes quite intertwined in Caitlin's situation and experiences many heart-pounding moments. This book is a page-turner!

The initial chapters of the book proved to be a challenge to immerse myself in. The pacing was slow, and the narrative seemed to tread water, making it hard to connect with the characters or discern the overarching plot. However, the perseverance pays off as the story gains momentum, revealing its true nature as a gripping psychological thriller.
The protagonist, Meghan Michaels, presents herself as a relatable single mom trying to strike a balance between her demanding career as an ICU nurse and the challenges of raising a teenage daughter. The turning point occurs when a seemingly routine case takes a sinister turn. Caitlin, a patient with a traumatic brain injury, becomes the focal point of a mystery that goes beyond a mere accident.

The narrative takes an unexpected twist when a witness comes forward, shattering the presumed circumstances surrounding Caitlin's fall. This revelation not only challenges Meghan's professional judgment but also plunges her into a web of deceit, manipulation, and danger. The author skillfully uses Meghan's emotional entanglement with Caitlin and her family to heighten the stakes, transforming the story into a heart-pounding thriller.

Just when it seems like the story is about to reach its climax, the author throws in another curveball. The twists come fast and furious, catching the reader off guard and adding layers of complexity to an already intricate plot. The book masterfully plays with the reader's expectations, keeping them on the edge of their seat.

Wow - this book was incredible! From page one, I was kept engaged and on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns. As an avid thriller reader, and huge Mary Kubica fan; I was very pleased with this entire book. I desperately seek out books that have plot twists that I don't see coming, and this book delivered. In my opinion, this is Mary Kubica's best one yet, and I highly recommend - 5 stars!

What a twisty and turbulent read!! When I picked up this book my mom asked me about it and when I told her the title she asked me who “She” was and I wasn’t completely sure - this book took me on such an adventure and I loved every minute. I predicted one of the grand reveals but was also surprised by others.

A fun ride - I could not put this book down! While some parts of the book seemed improbable, you cannot fault Kubica for the compulsively readable nature of this book. Perfect spring/beach read!

Meghan Michaels juggles her busy career as an ICU nurse with being a newly single parent to her teen daughter, Sienna. She is drawn to a new ICU patient, Caitlin, who attempted suicide by jumping off a bridge. What kind of person is Caitlin, now fragile and comatose, that led her to jump, when her family has rallied to support her? Although Meghan's training is to remain professional, she finds herself becoming invested in Caitlin's case, particularly when signs begin to point to Caitlin's fall coming from a push rather than a jump. In addition to being drawn into a potential murder investigation, there is also a man assaulting women in her neighborhood. Meghan's hours cause her to walk the streets at odd hours, and also leave Sienna, who keeps forgetting security precautions, alone. The entire novel is drenched in tension as the reader wonders if Meghan is truly in danger or just paranoid. An entertaining thriller with a few unexpected twists. I was given an advance ecopy for an honest review.

There were some great twists in this story that I definitely did not expect! I think this is one of the best books I have read in a while. I highly recommend it.

Thank you to Mary Kubica, Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this great, twisted up ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love a good story with lots of twists where I think I have it all figured out and wham, nope, not even close! I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I have read others by this author and they've all been good but I think this one is my favorite! I did have it figured it out pretty early on. However, there was a twist that I so did not see coming and even though my initial guess was correct, there were certainly parts that had me questioning that and thinking I could be wrong (I usually am) but let me tell you that one unexpected twist was so twisted!! I'm going five stars all the way based on that one twist, well, okay maybe because I enjoyed the whole book and not just the one twist but it really got me!

On April 2, 2024, do you yourself and a friend a favor and pick up a copy or two!

Mary Kubica is one of my favourite authors of all time and I was so excited to read this.
My own personal hype did not disappoint.
I absolutely loved this story and the characters.
THAT TWIST AT THE END OF PART ONE?!
My jaw hit the floor. In no way did I see that coming.
Word of advice, don’t start reading this at night because you won’t want to put it down, and then all of a sudden it will be 3AM and part one comes to an end and you ABSOLUTELY won’t be able to put it down even more.

Book Title: She’s Not Sorry
Author: Mary Kubica
Publisher: Harlequin Trade Publishing Group ~ Park Row
Genre:: Psychological Thriller
Pub Date: April 2, 2024
My Rating: 4.5 Stars
Pages: 329

Whenever I see a new Mary Kubica novel – it automatically goes on my TBR list. I went into this knowing nothing as to what it was about!. This is my ninth novel~ In fact; I have read all of her novels. I gave "The Good Girl" and "When the Lights go Out" 5 stars the others 4+ (I don't give very many 5 stars so 4+ is a super rating for me!) Yep I am a fan.

Meghan Michaels is 40 years old, an experienced ICU nurse who is recently divorced. She and her sixteen year old daughter Sienna live in a small 2 bedroom apartment
The apartment is located in Chicago under the L (The “L’ is the rapid transit system serving “The Loop” – Chicago’s metro area.) True this isn’t in the best areas in the Chicago area.

Meghan has been assigned Caitlin a suicide patient who recently jumped off a bridge, landing twenty feet below on train tracks. She is in a coma in critical condition.
Meghan is hesitant about being assigned to this patient because of her sister’s tragic experience. However, Meghan is drawn into Caitlin's life, as her parents like Meghan and forming a connection. .

Soon a witness comes forward and tells the police that she was driving on that bridge and saw a man with Caitlin on the bridge. The police believe Caitlin may have been pushed.
Megan is wondering if the suspicious man lurking around Caitlin's room is the same man.

This hospital situation is not the only thing happening to Meghan. She recently ran into Nat Cohen a Barrington HS classmate while heading to a divorce support group meeting. Nat has a nasty bruise near her hair line that was hidden by a hat. Meghan is worried Nat might be a domestic abuse victim.
.To top it off there is a very dangerous man terrorizing women in the neighborhood close to where Meghan lives.

Now Meghan’s friend goes missing and the plot gets thicker!

I read a lot of thrillers so I know to suspect everyone!!!
My suspicions were all over the place but since I suspect everyone I was sure I was close but certainly didn’t have details.

I did find some confusion with the timeline and wondered since with is an early galley – if perhaps –‘three months ago’ and present day’ needed to be included.
I found myself saying – Wait a minute! Then when back to reread.

This indeed is another Kubica page-turner!
She does not disappoint

Want to thank NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing ~ Park Row for this early uncorrected proof.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for April 2, 2024

This is a very slow burn until “Part Two” where a major twist is revealed. I admit to turning the pages much faster from that point on.

Meghan Michaels is an ICU nurse and the mom to a 16 year old daughter. They are both still struggling since Meghan and her husband Ben divorced months before. At 16 her daughter is also pushing her boundaries which add more stress to Meghan’s life.

There are several mysteries going on in this novel:

Meghan is assigned to care for the victim of a traumatic brain injury. Caitlin is in critical condition and may never come out of her coma. It was said that she jumped from a bridge, but did she?

An old high school friend, Nat, re-enters Meghan’s life. She meets with Meghan for coffee and she is shocked when Nat appears with bruises and contusions to her face. She confesses that her husband hits her. Meghan allows her back in her life, even letting her stay in her apartment for a few nights. Is Nat telling the truth? How much does Meghan really know about her “long long” high school friend?

There is a serial rapist on the loose in Chicago. He is targeting young women who enter their apartment alone, only to force his way in. Meghan usually walks home from the train but she is more worried now and of course she is vigilant in reminding her daughter to never walk alone and to always lock the door when she is home alone. But things can still happen, right?

I admit to mixed feelings on this one. I enjoyed the setting in Chicago and am familiar with exactly where the novel was set, that always adds to the fun.

The major twist was hard to believe and caused a lot of repetition in the second half.

Some of the further twists came out of nowhere with little plot development.

All in all this was still a good read and I always enjoy this author’s novels.

I received an ARC of this novel from the publisher through NetGalley. It was my pleasure to read and review this title.
