This one as a little difficult for me to get into because of the domestic violence aspect but I’m so glad I stuck it out. The twist is jaw dropping and I found it completely unexpected! A great quick read.
She's Not Sorry started really slowly. Lots of twists--some startling, some predictable. Probably one too many plotlines; I kept getting distracted. Like it, didn't love it.
A stellar prologue that draws you in and leaves you baffled, I simply needed to know immediately were this book was going.
In the first few chapters we learn of Caitlin who is in ICU for attempted suicide. Meghan our MC is the nurse looking after her. I immediately got the impression that Meghan relates to Caitlin in someway and boy was I surprised by the outcome of this book!
I did find that the book took a bit of a roundabout way to get to the point and some of the content felt unnecessarily drawn out, but it got there in the end. The plot was amazing, the ending felt a bit abrupt. But after finishing I feel it did the job well enough.
Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
The story was a slow burn but really picked up halfway through. I found myself unable to put down the book in order to see what happened. I didn’t find the characters likable though.
In this novel, Meghan, the ICU nurse and a single mom, cares for a comatose woman who was brought in with a traumatic brain injury. Did the woman jump off the bridge or was she pushed? And who is the strange man lurking in the hospital hallways?
Gotta love stories that pull you in from the opening scene! At the beginning of the book, Meghan received a call from her daughter's kidnapper. It was really hard to put the book down after that. The story was fast-paced and captivating. When Meghan met Caitlin and ultimately became her emotional support and later invited her into her home, I was just silently willing Meghan to be careful. You could tell something was going to go wrong. At first I admired Meghan for her good heart, but then was really disappointed as she made a series of questionable decisions. The biggest win of this book though was its twist! It was shocking and completely reversed the trajectory of the story for me.
Besides being incredibly dark and propulsive thriller, this read touches on some important topics such as mental health, integrity and victims of abuse. Great suspense novel with a major twist!
This was definitely a slower burn compared to the other author's books. While I enjoyed the second half of it, it definitely took a little long to keep me engaged.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Ms. Kubica is a master and twists and turns and this book did not disappoint.
The multiple character layers led to some shocking twists and plot points I didn't see coming.
I also enjoyed the Midwest setting being a fellow Midwesterner myself!
This is a hard review to write without spoiling anything, so here it goes! Mary Kubica is hit or miss for me but this was definitely a hit. I enjoyed the many plot twists and only guessed one of them. I loved the tension and multiple plot lines that led to the tension. It kept me turning pages! I also enjoyed how things tied together. I have thoughts about the ending, message me if you want to discuss! The only thing I really didn’t like was how there were multiple things and scenes that were repeated many times. I felt it definitely needed a better edit.
She's Not Sorry had a big twist I did not see coming, and then came Part 2. I loved how this book kept me constantly guessing and changing my thoughts on who was guilty and who was innocent. It definitely made you reconsider how who a person is on the outside may not truly be who you will discover on the inside. There was so much hiding of the truth. It was fun to unravel the secrets one by one.
This book grabbed my attention from the first page. There was a lot happening but it flowed nicely. The very first twist was so shocking, to be honest they all were and I didn't guess any of them. This book gave me trust issues and I loved every bit of it. Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my review.
She's Not Sorry is a thrilling and edge of your seat page-turner! I couldn't put it down! There were so many twists and turns that left me guessing. I highly recommend! Thank you to NetGalley and Park Row for the ARC!
Obsessed. Mary Kubica is thriller QUEEN. I will never not buy her books. Another 5 stars EASY.
The twist in this one I did not see coming! And as an avid thriller reader, I can usually spot a twist fairly well. Kubica is phenomenal at revealing secrets as just the right moment that leaves your jaw on the floor.
My favorite is Local Woman Missing and I think it always will be, but this one is definitely closeeee second!
Meghan is an ICU nurse with a new patient (Caitlin) who is in a coma after a fall. She gets overly involved with Caitlin’s family drama and is also dealing with drama in her own family (she is newly divorced w/ a snarky teenage daughter). Also someone is attacking women all over Chicago.
There was one fun twist (but it involves one of my least favorite thriller devices, so it felt like cheating) and a whole lot of Meghan being nervous on the empty streets (what?) of Chicago, except for when the streets were super crowded and Meghan still manages to accidentally run into whoever she needs to run into to move this wackadoo plot along. I liked the Good Girl and Local Woman Missing, but this was… not great.
This was my first Mary Kubica book and I was not disappointed! Thank you so much for the arc!
This was definitely more of a slowburn thriller, but it was still good and I loved it!
I’m kicking myself for not DNF’ing this one. It was so slow and those twists…eye roll. This book was not for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing!
Being a Chicagoland girl myself, I always love reading a new Mary Kubica for the detailed locations she includes. This novel, about an ICU nurse dealing with all manner of things gone wrong, is eerie and gripping, and so unexpected! Big recommend!
I was really looking forward to reading this. Unfortunately, it fell flat, and I could not get past the introduction. It did not hold my attention. I ended up DNFing this book at 10%.
I felt this was another good story from Mary Kubica but I felt some parts were a little predictable and forgettable. Still excited for new writing from her
Another bingeable thriller by Mary Kubica! She’s Not Sorry as fast paced and twisty. Buckle in for the rollercoaster it is intended to be, pay attention to the details, and see if you can put it together. There are certainly some unbelievable things as you reflect on the novel after the fact, but don’t let that ruin the ride. If you enjoy Kubica’s work, you’ll enjoy this one.
Special thanks to Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC via NetGalley.
Sometimes being a good person bites you in the butt!
If it wasn’t for bad luck Megan would not have any luck at all.
So many twists in this book my head was spinning. Some I predicted and some I didn’t. All in all it was a fun ride. In my opinion this is one of Mary Kubica’s better books.
