This is my fourth book by Mary Kubica. I love her writing style. She gets me hooked at the beginning of the story and I’m always surprised by the ending. I highly recommend Mary’s books.

I’ve been a Mary Kubica fan since The Good Girl nearly a decade ago and have read everything by her since.

I found to do be a slow burn, which I am typically a fan of. I wasn’t super invested until “Part 2” (which was like 70% of the way in) and everything happened all at once.

The *big twist* admittedly caught me by surprise! I should have seen it coming having read so many thrillers but was genuinely surprised. While some minor plot twists I did predict.

Not my favourite but also not my least favourite.

An easy and enjoyable read, She's Not Sorry takes us on a journey in the life of ICU nurse Meghan Michaels. Meghan is a newly-divorced single Mom to a 16 year old daughter. In this novel, we see her navigate caring for a patient with a story that's a bit too close to Meghan's past history, while also having to juggle keeping herself and her daughter safe in an increasingly scary city. But what happens when the danger railroads right through her world? Is there anyone she can trust or is everyone a threat to her and her daughter?

The storyline was fairly predictable, so I saw what was coming before it actually happened, but overall I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys easy-to-follow thriller/suspense novels.

A twist I didn't see coming...

I really enjoyed this book... I found it to be totally bingeable, a quick fast paced thriller with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat, all while flipping pages as fast as you can.

We follow Meghan Michaels a 40 year old ICU nurse who is recently divorced and living in a small 2 bedroom apartment with her 16 year old daughter Sienna. In order to be cost efficient they don't live in the best of areas in the Chicago area, living directly under the L train and in not necessarily a bad neighborhood, but again, not the best.

Meghan works at the hospital roughly about a mile from home and often commutes to and from work by walking. Normally, sure, no big deal but in recent news there's a man who has been believed to be stalking women around her area to catch his victims by surprise as they're entering their homes which is when he attacks and assaults them and or r@pes them which escalates to murder.

She finds herself caring for a mysterious woman on her nursing unit. She is still struggling with her divorce and is happy to find solace in an old friend from high school in her support group. After her friend mysteriously disappears, the story starts unraveling a lot of twists and explains a much more complicated history than originally thought.

Kubica did such a good job at conveying this fear through her words - it was palpable. I had shivers many times while reading, and thinking to myself... walk faster Meghan, why don't you just take the train Meghan, why don't you have some sort of protection, Meghan?!?

Not only that, but these characters are all perfect- I was suspicious of almost every single one of them. You never really feel comfortable about any of them and so you continue to go through the book second guessing yourself and questioning their actions and motives.


Anyway, there are a few storylines going at the same time and again Kubica does an amazing job because honestly I was stunned when I read the words to one of the twists- like wait what? I had to go back and think on it. I don't often find myself completely caught off guard while reading thrillers but this one had me literally pause to take a beat.

One of the plot twists I did figure out fairly early, but again, this book has you questioning everyone to the point that if it went another way I'd be saying I figured it out as well because these characters were all so sketch lol.

Really enjoyable and highly addictive read!

Heart pounding and intense!

Meghan is a nurse at an ICU and a single mom of a 16-year-old Sienna. Meghan is taking care of a woman in coma who jumped off a bridge to kill herself. The family of the woman is constantly with her hoping she would get better. Meanwhile, her daughter is being a regular hormonal 16-year-old bringing a boy to her house, her ex is giving her hard time, and on top of that there's a rapist and a thief violating women in her vicinity, making her feel unsafe for herself and her kid.

At the same time Meghan goes to evening meetings for divorced people. She meets a long lost friend, Caitlin, from high school and gets reacquainted with her even though they were not very close back in the day. Caitlin seems to be in an abusive relationship and is trying to leave her husband. Meghan tries to help her out.

The first half of the book, the tying of the knot, was strong and I did enjoy it a lot!! I figured out who the rapist was very early on but didn't see the big twist coming. Once the big twist came, everything felt very rushed, and very spelled out for the reader. There was nothing to wonder about or to figure out. That being said, I really enjoyed the fast paced thriller. A lot of difficult themes were introduced - home violence, women not being safe in the open especially at night, doctors and nurses making grave mistakes due to exhaustion and being spread too thin.

Recommend reading this book for the fun thriller factor, which is what the author is known and sought after. It is not a literary masterpiece. Perfect for the winter months to read wrapped in a warm blanket with a hot drink. Enjoy!!

Didn’t see all this coming.

She’s Not Sorry is multiple plot lines individually woven into one story. It’s the story of Meghan and Nat, long lost acquaintances from high school, of Meghan and Luke, co-workers in the ICU, of Meghan and Sienna, her sassy 16-year old, of Meghan and Caitlyn, the comatose patient Meghan has been charged with caring for, and Meghan and Ben, her ex-husband. Along with all of these subplots, there is a crazy man running around Chicago raping and now murdering women. The plot gets thicker half way through the book when the reader learns nothing is as it seems.

Mary Kubica has done a wonderful job keeping multiple balls in the air while spinning plates of deception at the same time. She leaves the doors open to all the characters so that the reader has no idea who to trust, including the protagonist. There are twists and unforeseen turns that will keep you guessing throughout and even the ending is left with a door slightly ajar - could there be a follow-up coming?

My first pass at Mary Kubica and I’m glad it was She’s Not Sorry. This psychological thriller will keep you turning the page. I must admit, I sort of sped read through the last few chapters to find out what was going to happen.

It is such a slow-burn but in a really good way. It sucked me in immediately and had such a build up of suspense and surprising twists that just made you keep reading and keep wondering.

I like how the author broke this up into two parts. I was really caught off guard when i realized what was actually happening at the end of part one, so pay attention!

I also like how the author has instilled just the tiniest bit of doubt into each character so you truly dont know who to trust. Would definitely recommend this one!

Mary Kubica has done it again with this twisty-turny on the edge of my seat nail biter. The minute I thought I had it figured out, bam big plot twist. And the way she weaves together several plot lines in a way that leaves you intrigued and not confused. ::chefs kiss::

She works in the ICU as a nurse and always fears the worst when she listens to the news. She lives a lonely life and rarely dates or goes out with friends. So much so that when she runs into an old friend, she confides in her more than she usually does. The characters were very relateable, especially the sixteen year old daughter who very much reminded me of my own. Some of the plot twists were evident and I had already figured them out but a few of the turns near the end left me breathless and had me reading faster to find out how the story would end. Overall a great thriller that I would recommend to others.

Mary Kubica does it again. This one hooked me from the beginning and was a wild ride the entire time. There were so many twists I didn't see coming (and some I did see, but I didn't care)! I audibly gasped at times! There were characters that seem fishy and I just couldn't read it fast enough. Highly recommend this one!

The gasp I gasped halfway through this book! This is definitely worth going into blind to enjoy both the suspense and the twist!

To avoid any spoilers, I'll skip the recap of this book, other than to say there are essentially two to three storylines that run through at least portions of the book and each builds suspense in its own way. A few of the previous Kubica books I've read felt somewhat predictable as you headed towards the end, but I'll offer that I only had an inkling of what was happening in one of the storylines. My only minor quibble was that I actually did not like the epilogue, but it was not enough to dampen my enjoyment overall.

I’m certainly not sorry I read the latest psychological thriller from Mary Kubica. A critical care nurse in Chicago, Meghan, has the unenviable task of raising a teenage daughter, navigating a relationship with her ex husband and keeping her patients stable and alive. All while maintaining a professional emotional distance - until Caitlin arrives, a young woman whose suicidal jump leaves her in a coma with a pair of grieving parents counting every breath. Fear, real and imagined, starts on page one and builds to an almost unreadable pace. Side note, judging by the geography in the book, this is the hospital where my doctors practice. I know the neighborhood well, sharing Meghan’s fear of walking alone at night. Vulnerable. As Meghan gets drawn into Caitlin’s life, the twists and turns are explosive and propel us into an unexpected unraveling. Excellent one Ms Kubica!

A slow burn thriller that was just…a bit TOO slow. I was so bored the first half of this book. There wasn’t anything happening that was HOOKING me, I found myself reaching for my phone because I wasn’t sufficiently intrigued. This author is usually hit or miss for me, when it’s good it’s great and when it’s not good it’s just really not good.

I think this could be a good read for some, but you’ve really got to identify with the main character because you spend a lot of time in her head. I couldn’t much relate to her, so it was difficult for me. The last 30% of the book was definitely interesting, but the slow burn up to it was excessive.

This was a heart pumping thriller that had me from the very first chapter. I feel like a lot of thrillers take a minute to pull me in and finally put me on the edge of my seat, but that was not the case here. Every single chapter had me on the edge of my seat and wanting to read quicker. The writing is exceptional and really pulls you in and I loved how beautifully the story wrapped back without me even realizing it until I hit the OMG moment. Even after the big reveal of the killer there were so many dots to connect that kept me engaged in the story and on my toes. One of my favorite thrillers of the year! Definitely recommend.

This book piqued my interest from the beginning to the end. I loved how it kept me guessing and just as I thought I had it all figured out, something else happened to have me rethinking things all over again. Some aspects were slightly predictable and others were unnecessary in the grand scheme of things, but overall it was well written and a great storyline.

Omg this book kept me going I even finished it in one sitting. I loved the setting of the hospital for the MC and then trying to solve the mystery before time runs out. I really don’t want to say too much else I don’t want to spoil anything but wow this book was soo good. I’ll definitely be looking into more books from this author 5/5

I love all of Mary Kubica's books and this one was no exception. There were so many twists and turns that I did not see coming. It was such a hard book to put down. All the characters are well written. You are not sure who to trust. I highly recommend giving this book a read if you enjoy thrillers.
