This novel is an absolute page-turner that had me hooked from the get-go. It’s a gripping thriller full of suspense that cleverly intertwines the lives of its characters against a backdrop of unsettling urban danger.

The story centers on Meghan Michaels, a 40-year-old ICU nurse and newly divorced mother, navigating life in a less desirable Chicago neighborhood with her teenage daughter, Sienna. The tension escalates with the news of a stalker preying on women in her area, adding a layer of urgency to Meghan's everyday routine.

As Meghan treats a mysterious patient in her hospital, she reconnects with an old high school friend through a support group, finding comfort amid her post-divorce challenges. However, the plot thickens dramatically when her friend vanishes, unraveling a complex web of deceit that traces back further than Meghan could have imagined.

Kubica masterfully builds suspense, with each chapter adding to a mounting sense of danger that permeates Meghan's world. The portrayal of Meghan's anxiety and her hyper-awareness of her surroundings are so vivid, they had me mentally urging her to take precautions and make safer choices.

The characters are intricately developed, with motivations and secrets that keep you guessing. The plot delivers multiple twists that are both surprising and thought-provoking, challenging your perceptions of the characters and their pasts.

Even when I thought I had one of the story’s twists figured out, the narrative kept me doubting my conclusions, making the reveal that much more impactful. It’s a testament to Kubica’s skill that the story remains unpredictable and engaging throughout, maintaining a high level of suspense and intrigue that makes this thriller a standout.

This book is not just a thrilling ride; it’s a deep dive into the complexities of trust, trauma, and resilience. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a story that keeps you guessing until the very end.

I have many of Mary Kubica’s thrillers and usually love them.

She’s Not Sorry was fast paced and a page turner for sure.

As a single mother, Meghan Michaels is working full-time as an ICU nurse while trying to raise a teenage daughter. A patient is admitted to the ICU after jumping off a bridge in a coma with a traumatic brain injury, Meghan is assigned to her care. She very quickly gets way to close to the patient and her family. Then, a witness reports that she saw someone push her. Meghan begins to fear that she and her daughter are now in danger. Could they be the next?

This one took many clever twists and turns, but I did correctly guess how they would ultimately turn out. This author always give extra details when creating the characters in her books and I think this one was excellent.. This book is a thriller and kept my interest the entire way through. It is also obvious that Kubica either knows a lot about nursing, or she did her research or maybe both.

I predict that readers will really enjoy this fast-paced thriller!

Thank you #NetGalley for the ARC.

This is one of the best thrillers I've read in a long time. This is also my first Mary Kubica book and I'm now hooked. I want to read everything she's ever written. This book had so many twists and turns and I never knew what was coming. It was fast paced but the last 1/3 of the book was just at a breakneck speed. If you're a thriller fan, you should 100% check this out, it is fantastic!

Mary Kubica's She's Not Sorry is a twisted psychological thriller that focuses on an ICU nurse who gets involved in the life of a trauma patient that allegedly committed suicide. Meghan Michaels is a recently divorced wife who is trying to be a good mother to her 16-year-old daughter Sienna, and be a good nurse in the ICU unit of her local hospital. After COVID, nurses were burned out, and there's now a shortage of both nurses and doctors, but the patients still come.

They still need help. They still need a place to heal. And that includes Caitlin Beckett who allegedly jumped off a bridge. Meghan is haunted by Caitlin because her sister Bethany died by her own hand. When a witness to the fall comes forward, it appears that Caitlin may have been pushed. Meghan finds herself drawn into Caitlin's life, forming a bond with her family members, who share their daughter's secrets. Meghan also notices a suspicious man lurking around Caitlin's room outside of visiting hours. Meghan finds herself questioning the actions of the family, especially one of her brothers.

Meanwhile, Meghan re-connects with an old friend from high school who is going through a difficult divorce and may be an abused wife. To top it off, being the mother of a teen daughter, living in a neighborhood that isn't exactly safe, causes Meghan heartburn and fear because you never know if she or her daughter will be the next victims of a mysterious man who has been attacking women.

It is fair to say that the author has a way of messing with your mind. Just when you think you know what is happening, the author twists the story so hard that I literally started cussing. Not kidding. The ending left me a bit angry at the author because she did a grave injustice to the nursing field. One of my greatest failings was not completing my nursing degree after spending years being a paramedic/firefighter in New York State. I think nurses don't get the credit they deserve, but there are times that they are human, and mistakes do happen. Same with doctors. If you are a young woman who is in High School, or just starting college, and you are empathic, and caring, and good at science, please consider the nursing field.

Thank you to Park Row Books for the digital copy to review!

This was a doozy! It moved along a little slow for part one and then right as we get to part two BOOM, there is a twist that came out of NO WHERE and I was gobsmacked. Literally did NOT see it coming and made the first part make much more sense. It is pretty fast paced from there, with a couple more doozies as we get to the end, and I really, really enjoyed this one. I guessed a couple things but the overall turn this one took was nowhere on my radar and I love when that happens. I do have two things to note, one being that Meghan Michaels’ daughter was pretty insufferable, and I really wanted to set her straight a few times. Second thing is I should probably never upset a nurse, like ever. That is all. HA!

I am a huge fan of Mary Kubica and loved this book, I definitely recommend it, it is so well done. I also listened via audio and it was great that way too.

She’s Not Sorry is filled with twists and turns. I could not figure out how this story would end. Mary Kubica is a must-read author,

Not my least favorite Kubica, but the characters were dense and unlikable.

I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own

This book had me thinking along one line and wondering what would happen to the woman with the abusive husband. Then the plot took a sudden turn a different direction - for awhile - until it was time for another twist. My head was spinning with all the possibilities and twists in this story. Granted, it was a bit unrealistic, but that's why they call it fiction! No matter how far fetched, it was another entertaining book by Mary Kubica.

I don’t want to spoil this one, so I won’t say much about the plot. I honestly wasn’t sure where this one was going for the first half of the book, but it had me on edge. I was engaged for the majority of the book trying to figure out what was going on. I was able to predict some of the plot twists, although they didn’t play out exactly how I thought. Overall I enjoyed this one, wasn’t my favorite, but it still kept me turning the pages!

Thank you to HTP and NetGalley for a copy of this ebook!

Love the setting of this story as well as trying to figure out what was really going on. About halfway through I had my suspicions and they proved to be correct. The story seemed a little outlandish but was a fun fast read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this advance copy of She's Not Sorry by Mary Kubica - this title is available today and is Kubica's newest thriller for 2024!

3.5 stars for my first title by this author - I was really intrigued by this one being a nurse myself, and I wanted to see how this played into the storyline. This one follows Meghan, an ICU nurse that is caring for Caitlin, a woman who jumped (fell?) off a bridge and is currently intubated and in a coma with a traumatic brain injury. I don't work in this area of nursing, but that seemed to track pretty closely to what medically could be happening with Caitlin, and I was really intrigued to where this story was going to go. I talked to a friend who has read some of Kubica's other works - I thought the nurse/patient "what actually happened to Caitlin" idea was going to be the main plot line, but then we're introduced to a different storyline (that eventually comes together, but it seemed very bizarre with how it was all paced out. It seemed a little disjointed and a little bit of a "WTF" moment, but I was entertained. I don't always need the plot to be realistic, but this one seemed like it took it one step too far with being "off the wall" and unbelievable.

Thank you again to the publishers and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for this review - She's Not Sorry is available today!

Possibly my new favorite by this author! I read it in two days (rare for me) and kept trying to figure out how everything would work out and how all the subplots would tie together. I liked Meghan, the main character, and I think many single moms fresh off a divorce will relate to her relationship with her teenage daughter.
There were plenty of gotcha moments with several clever twists, especially at the end. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this clever thriller!

This is full of twist and turns in perfect Mary Kubica fashion - there are a few different things going on that seem unrelated and had me scratching my head then wow, again I didn't see what came next.
Meghan, an ICU nurse is caring for a patient, but did the patient attempt suicide or was she the victim of an attempted murder. Although normally able to remain detached from her patients, she seems overly involved in this particular case. Then she runs into a high school friend, apparently in an abusive relationship and she also becomes compelled to help her. As if that isn't enough, there's a serial rapist attacking women in her neighborhood and her young daughter is often left alone because of her work schedule.
It's amazing how she can weave the stories and bring it all to a head - another page turner.

Not my first book by Kubica, and certainly not my last. I was hoping that I would be able to figure out the plot twist but for some reason this one eluded me. Very well written and easy to read, I really liked this one.

This book was such a thriller and a page turner! UI wanted to keep reading to see who pushed Caitlin off the bridge. Was it her brother? A complete stranger? "She's Not Sorry" had some many twists. I enjoyed reading this book and at the end the reader will be surprised who pushed Caitlin and why. I wanted Ben and Megan to be reunited again.

4.5 stars

One twist I saw coming, one I didn't at all, and one I had an inkling of after the surprise 🤣

An overall entertaining thriller, just with too many daggum Chicago streets named. Lol.

This propulsive story is full of twists and turns! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this advanced copy.

Caitlin Beckett is a patient in a coma in the hospital. She has fallen from a bridge. At first the thought is that she jumped, then it is discovered that she was pushed. Meghan Michaels is one of her nurses. Meghan becomes more and more involved with the family, the parents come to rely on her and tell her things about the family. Once it is determined that Caitlin was pushed, everything is changed.

I have mixed feelings about the book. It took a while to get going with the plot. The first 59% was a slow build, and It had tension at times that kept you reading. The characters were all "unreliable" at times so you really didn't know what was going on or who was telling the truth. It did pick up in the last 40% of the book. There were plenty of twists, some that I saw coming and some I did not.

There was quite a bit of repetition at the beginning of the book which was annoying. .Some of the plot points were left unresolved. Some of the twists at the end were not quite believable. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I do wish it had been a little faster paced.

Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for the ARC of this book.

Another one of my most anticipated 2024 books this year, She's Not Sorry by Mary Kubica did not disappoint. I Even though I really did not find any of the characters likable, especially the daughter who I found to be quite a spoiled and whiny brat it took nothing from the story, which was great! Full of twisty turns and a major bombshell I did not see coming! Thank you so much!

Mary Kubica used to be an auto-buy author for me. I really liked her early work. They are exciting, fast-paced stories that I used to gobble up in one sitting. The last few books by Kubica have been more of the slow-burn variety. In this release, not only was it super drawn out, but it had way too many story lines. I can handle multiple story lines, but this just wasn't worth the struggle to keep them straight. I lost momentum while reading due to the overly long descriptions of day-to-day life. Then, as if that wasn't frustrating enough, I figured out the twist fairly early on. Overall, I just left this one feeling disappointed.
