Kubica is an author that I read no matter what the title of the book may be. I love her writing and storytelling abilities. She's Not Sorry was exciting and I was sucked in to the story pretty quickly. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Five stars. Another book that was done in a memorable way!

An ICU nurse accidentally uncovers a patient’s frightening past in this chilling thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of Local Woman Missing and Just the Nicest Couple.

Mary Kubica is a master of her craft and this book is no exception. A great mystery with lots of tension and wonderful twists and turns.

I am still reeling myself in from this very twisty thriller! I thoroughly enjoyed the wild ride that Mary Kubica produced. The book started up as a slow burn but once you connect the two stories together, you will be blown away. All of the twists were a complete surprise, and the big twist was shocking. I also loved the eerie atmosphere of Chicago at night and the medical aspect was a fun added touch. If you need a very twisty thriller with kidnapping, murder, creepy atmosphere with a medical setting, go grab this book!

She’s Not Sorry is Mary Kubica’s latest. It tells the story of ICU nurse Meghan. Meghan is trying to juggle being a single mom and working long shifts in the ICU. One night, a patient comes in after falling from the top of a bridge. While Meghan typically tries hard to separate herself from her patients, she’s finding it harder to separate herself from this patient…

I wish y’all could’ve seen the look on my face after reading the twists in this book!! Mary Kubica didn’t disappoint! Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC. It will go on sale on April 2, 2024.

I’ve always heard people talk about how some of the books they’ve read give them “whiplash” and I’ve never understood. BUT THIS BOOK. THIS BOOK RIGHT HERE. Oh my god. I’ve never read a book like this before. I’ve never felt so invested and let down from these characters (in a good way) before. This book was such a great and easy read. From the very beginning of the prologue to the very last worlds of the book, I was captivated and could not put it down. I’m a teacher and every little break I could get, I was reading or thinking about this book. It definitely topped Local Woman Missing, in my opinion and I also gave that a 5 stars!

Amazing book! Amazing Author!

Thanks so much to Harlequin Trade and NetGalley.

Megan is a single mom to a teenager and a busy nurse. While working the critical care unit, a woman named Caitlin arrives in a coma with a TBI from jumping from a bridge. A witness comes forward who suggests that Caitlin was pushed. Somehow, Megan has gotten too involved in Caitlin's life and family. She soon realizes that she and her daughter could be next.

This was not what I was expecting! Not everyone is who they seem, and the ending was such a surprise that I had to go back an reread it multiple times to get a sense of what had just happened. I thought I had figured it out, but I was wrong! Kubica does it again!

I ate up Local Woman Missing in a day and was SO excited to be accepted to read this ARC - this one sure didn't disappoint! Fast-paced from start to finish, I also finished this one in a single sitting. The writing was snappy, the characters enjoyable, and the plot had the perfect amount of twists to still pull everything together. Every time I thought I had it figured out, the story took another turn! My only qualm was that the ending felt a bit rushed - there was so much suspense and buildup that the last few chapters felt incomplete and anticlimactic...I would have preferred more falling action and resolution detail in the end to bring it full circle. I will add that, as a parent myself, some of these topics were heavy and difficult to read, so a warning at the beginning would be helpful to many. Overall, this was a great read and I can't wait for whatever Kubica comes up with next!

This book was quite the ride from beginning to end with twists I didn’t see coming. I read this book so quickly and it drew me in throughout the story. Check trigger warnings for sure before you read. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars is because I felt like the ending resolved too fast. There were too many things said and done by certain people throughout the story that never got resolved and that bothered me even though they may not have been necessary resolutions for the story. Overall I would recommend this if you like a twisty and fast paced story. Thanks to NetGalley and Park Row for the ARC.

Such a twisty tale! I love when you can’t trust the characters in a book and you aren’t sure who or what to believe. This one kept me guessing and I couldn’t read it fast enough. I really loved the medical setting in Chicago. This book has everything to keep you interested! 5 fabulous stars!

I couldn’t finish with child kidnapping. Sorry.. sometimes the ideas are great but this is a personal preference here that I hadn’t noticed in the description.

From the "New York Times" bestselling author of "Local Woman Missing" comes "She's Not Sorry," the story of an ICU nurse who accidentally uncovers a patient's frightening past.

Meghan Michaels is struggling to juggle being a single mom to a teenage daughter and working as a full-time ICU nurse in Chicago. While Meghan is working at the hospital one day, a patient named Caitlin arrives in a coma after jumping from a pedestrian bridge and falling twenty feet to the train tracks below. After a witness comes forward with shocking details about the fall, the police suspect Caitlin was pushed. Meghan tries to stay emotionally detached from her patients, but she mistakenly lets herself get too close and becomes entangled in Caitlin's and her family's lives. In the midst of all of this, Meghan reconnects with a high school classmate trying to escape from an abusive marriage. Having cared for domestic abuse victims in the ICU, Meghan hopes to help her old friend. Meanwhile, there's been a string of break-ins in Meghan's neighborhood. After several carjackings and armed robberies, a woman is raped. Meghan fears that she and her daughter could be the next victims.

I thought nothing could top "Local Woman Missing," but Mary Kubica may have just done it with "She's Not Sorry." I was so absorbed in this book that I finished it in less than a day. This was a suspenseful and compelling thriller that hooked me from the first page, and I did not want to put it down. Full of jaw-dropping twists and a cast of unreliable characters, this book kept me guessing until the very end. Another must-read from Kubica!

This is a heart-throbbing thriller that I couldn't put down as soon as I was hooked from the first page. The well-executed mysteries keep you on the edge of your seat, making your stomach churn, your nails bitten, your throat constricted, your heart beating faster, and your hyperventilation score hitting the roof. Mary Kubica deftly juggles several plot threads, creating so many eccentric loopholes that may be connected to each other, which pushes your brain cells to work harder to connect the puzzle pieces and see the big picture.

I was so close to giving this heart-throbbing novel five stars because of the imminent thrill and excitement it provided, not to mention the jaw-dropping twist the author perfectly threw onto our laps like a ticking bomb. The pacing is also perfect, drawing readers into the story and igniting enough curiosity to keep them reading the entire development in one sitting. My only hesitation is some loose ends regarding the characters' involvement in the incidents. Some of my questions remain unanswered, and some revelations were thrown at us haphazardly without much explanation. Explaining my loaded questions without giving away spoilers is quite challenging, so I'll stop here and continue with the plotline to provide enough highlights for you to decide whether you want to dive into this adventure without looking further. This is definitely a great option because this book might just blow your mind with its smart, twisty storyline.

Meet Meghan Michaels, an experienced ICU nurse, recently divorced and raising her 16-year-old daughter, Sienna, with joint custody of her husband, Ben. She's assigned to take care of a suicide patient who recently jumped off a bridge, landing twenty feet below on the train wrecks. The patient's name is Caitlin, and she's in a critical condition that she may not survive. Caitlin has become the talk of the entire hospital, and Meghan is hesitant to be assigned to this patient because of her own tragic past related to suicide. However, Meghan finds herself drawn into Caitlin's life, forming a bond with her family members, who share their daughter's secrets, startling Meghan as Caitlin might escape from her dark past and insisting she's seen a struggle between a suspicious man and Caitlin, which leads the officers to presume she was pushed. Meghan also notices a suspicious man lurking around Caitlin's room outside of visiting hours.

Unfortunately, Meghan's predicament in the hospital is not the only situation she has to deal with. She also worries about an old school friend she recently crossed paths with: Nate, who might be an abuse victim needing urgent help. At the same time, there's a very dangerous man out there hunting women, and he's too close to the district where she and her daughter live.

Are these three mysteries connected? If you're intrigued enough, order your copy, clear your schedule, find a comfortable place to fully immerse yourself in this incredibly exciting mystery, and enjoy!

I'm addicted to Mary Kubica's brilliant and riveting writing style, and thankfully, this book is a winner. I absolutely recommend it.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing/Park Row for sharing this amazing book's digital review copy with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Great twist - totally unexpected!
The character development was good, too. I liked Meghan, who is a divorced ICU nurse raising her teenage daughter. Their dynamic was realistic.
My only issue was the ending that had some unanswered questions.
Great read, though!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow! This book had my mouth on the ground! The twist had me wanting to reread the entire book because I was like, "what?!" I enjoyed that.

The main, Meghan, is a veteran ICU nurse taking care of a young woman named Caitlin. This is really all the backstory you need to jump in to this book. I often read books without reading the synopsis, I like to go on blind and this was a pleasant surprise, almost uncanny how much I related to the main character. Kudos to Mary Kubica for either having a medical background or working closely with, what I can tell, to be a seasoned medical professional as a consultant. The verbiage is definitely the equivalent of nurse shop talk and she did a great job. In simpler terms, she spoke the song of my people. Books like these always run the risk of sounding cheesy to those who are in the field and this did not. I even highlighted a few of the medical passages bc I thought they were worded so well.

I thoroughly enjoyed the characters. Enough development that I felt invested but not too much that the book felt overdone. I rooted for Meghan...the entire book. The mother daughter dynamic was also good, reflecting actual teenaged girl attitude.

This is my first Mary Kubica book and I have to say, I am impressed with this twisty tale. There were several dark story lines that intersected and were woven together nicely. My only want from this book was for the two main plot lines/twists to tie together more in the end. I don't want to give away any spoilers but that would've been the only thing to make this book even better! Great read, kept me awake reading half the night! Can't wait to read more of Mary Kubica!

This book kept me hooked from the start! Mary Kubica does it again with her storytelling. I thought this book was so weak done with how everything/everyone tied in together. The twists that happened were things you could have guessed but not necessarily would you have seen coming. I also really liked that there was more than one big twist!

Obviously I devoured this book. It was so well-written and engaging. One twist took me by surprise and gave me whiplash. The end was just the slightest bit lacking but it didn’t take away from the book for me. Overall, I would highly recommend. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade publishing for this ARC!! I was so thrilled to receive it as I love Mary Kubica’s work!!

Wow, this book absolutely blew me away from beginning to end. This story absolutely captivated me. Meghan is a nurse who is on duty when a woman arrives with a traumatic brain injury. This story is impossible to tell without giving spoilers. You should really go into this one blind because the amount of twist will shock you!! Such an amazing read!!

Mary Kubica is a genius! This takes me back to Pretty Baby feels!

To top off the thrills, she paints the setting in snowy Chicago!!

Meghan is a Chicago nurse with enough on her plate. Her patient Caitlin Beckett jumped from a bridge and is now barely recognizable. When Mr. and Mrs. Beckett come to see about their only daughter, things take a strange turn.

In her divorce support group, she reconnects with Natalie from high school. This is what she needs: wine, no stress, girl time. But each time they meet, Natalie has a different bruise. Is this someone she can confide in?

Meghan walks everywhere, living only a mile from her hospital. But as the news is reporting attack after attack on women in the neighborhood, she becomes increasingly more paranoid. Even her own 16 year old daughter becomes a target. Meghan receives a call from a man using her daughter’s phone: “If you ever want to see your daughter again, you will do exactly as I say”.

The unexpected twists will shock you as Meghan is determined to find out what really happened to Caitlin, Nat and Sienna. Your trust will be out the window! Is it Luke or Ben or Declan or Jackson??

Thank you to Netgalley and Park Row for letting me read this great book!
