Thank you NetGalley so much for the opportunity to read this book. I binged it in a day and loved all the twists. I can usually predict where a story is going but this book surprised me many times. A great read!
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book was so full of twists and turns. I read a lot of thrillers, and I thought I had this one pretty much figured out by 70% in. Turns out, I did not. Kidnapping, murder, multiple suspects. It had everything needed to hold my interest from start to finish. Loved it!
There’s not much I love more than a thriller that takes place in a medical setting. I loved this book although some of the details seemed far fetched at best. Without giving away any specifics, there were aspects that weren’t quite believable in terms of real life, but I was willing to overlook that because it was such a fun ride. So many twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. I will be reading more from Mary Kubica!
Thanks to the author, NetGalley, and publisher for the ARC of She’s Not Sorry.
This talented author has written a cannot put down novel. A single mom…her daughter…a tragically ill patient. Secrets abound. Family and friends. Taking care of others. The daughter is a teenager. Problems arise. Thanks Netgalley.
I don't remember a book that had me really thinking I was going crazy in the way that this one did. I actually had to go back and start reading it again because I was so convinced Mary must have made an error and that it wasn't ME being dumbfounded by an out-of-this-world twist...I was literally scratching my head like HOW DID SHE PULL THIS OFF?
ANYWAYS, here's what you need to know:
-I couldn't put it down
-The setting was immaculate (hospital ICU, say less)
-The characters are all insane (in the most entertaining way)
-You'll want to re-read immediately
-You'll need to discuss with friends ASAP (ideal bookclub pick)
I can't say much more without giving anything away, but I will say, you're not prepared! This one is going to stay with me for a while and it definitely broke my brain LOL
This is Mary Kubica's 9th book; I've read them all and this is definitely up there in my top 2 or 3 (don't make me pick, it's cruel)
Huge thank you to HTP books for the advanced copy! This will be available for purchase on April 16th!
Wow! This book definitely kept me guessing. The main character Caitlin also had my name, so was a little freaked out when the plot was centered around her death! Thanks NetGalley for the ARC! Thoroughly enjoyed this book!
Extremely twisted and totally readable. Kubica is a very solid author me and this did not disappoint. Fans of the author and thrillers in general will love this one.
4.25-4.5 ⭐️
Holy Mary mother of thrillers Kubica! This one has all my favorite things…
1. Murder
2. Serial killer
3. WTF twist
4. Morally gray characters
So tbh, Kubica is often hit or miss for me. We’ve had some big ass winners and then some “is this a rough draft?” flops in my opinion. This is definitely the former.
An ICU nurse is charged with taking care of a young woman who tried to commit suicide off a bridge. She becomes entangled with the woman’s family. She also is recently reconnected to an old friend from HS seeking to escape an abusive marriage. Plus she’s dealing with being newly divorced and raising her headstrong 16 year old daughter as primary caretaker. All in Chicago, where there is a rapist/serial killer on the loose targeting women in her neighborhood.
All of that seems legit, right? Maybe some is, maybe some isn’t. You’ll have to read it to find out. I know I’m not sorry I did.
Thank you Netgalley & HTP Books for an eARC of She's Not Sorry by Mary Kubica! This one tops Local Woman Missing for me, as my favorite Kubica book yet. Unique and SO twisty, you'll be taken on a ride you are not expecting through this novel.
This story follows Meghan, an ICU nurse who is trying to balance her stressful job with life as a single mom to a teenage daughter post-divorce. She becomes wrapped up in the tragic accident of Caitlin - A patient who arives at the hospital in a coma with a traumatic brain injury, having jumped from a bridge. Did Caitlin really jump, or was she pushed?
I'll say no more as I don't want to give ANYTHING away with this one regarding the plot or storyline. You end up on a journey to solve not one mystery, but a few, and Kubica expertly ties them together in what I can describe as a jaw-dropping twist that I personally did not see coming. I got a whole lot more than what I was expecting from this book based off of its synopsis, and I am so glad!
Wow! She's Not Sorry blew me away. Fast paced and lots of red herrings that kept me off kilter the whole book.
A woman is found after presumably jumping from a bridge. What is her story? Why did she jump? Or did she?
When it turns out there might have been foul play, the possible suspects have multiple motives.
The ending will knock your socks out - another reason Kubica is a top selling author of unstoppable thrillers.
Wow, this was a wild roller-coaster ride without a doubt! It was a definite binge-read thriller with all the amazing twists and the fast pace kept me completely hooked. Just when I thought the plot was going one way, there would be a sudden about-turn trashing all my guesses. There were only a bunch of characters and oh boy, each of them would be hiding something making them a suspect. I did find there wasn't closure about some characters but frankly I did not care. I strongly recommend it and it has been sometime since I have truly enjoyed reading a thriller!
Meghan Michaels is an ICU nurse and a single mom raising a sixteen year old daughter named Sienna. When she goes to work one day, she's caught off guard by a TBI patient named Caitlin, that's recently come out of surgery. She's told that she jumped from a bridge, but later police discover she may have been pushed. As her nurse, Meghan becomes too involved with Caitlin's family even when she knows she shouldn't. When things begin to take a turn, she soon realizes that maybe she put Sienna's life and her own life at risk.
SHE'S NOT SORRY, was so good! I'm a huge fan of Mary Kubica. I have read all of her books and this one is so different from her others. First, I loved the medical aspect of this one. I know she put in the time researching details. I also liked that it was broken up into two parts. I would say, pay very close attention to the beginning of the story. I was totally caught off guard by the discovery of what really was happening by the time I got to part two. The ending left me speechless and with pondering thoughts. I will happily give all the stars to this brilliant novel.
Many thanks to NetGalley and HTP for my gifted copy.

Another winner from Mary Kubica! I have been reading her books since 2015 and I look forward to each release. I think Mary’s readers will enjoy this one!
Short synopsis: Meghan Michaels is an ER nurse and recently divorced mother whose life quickly changes when a new patient is brought to the hospital in a coma after suffering from a TBI. Meghan has always done a great job staying out of her patient’s personal lives up until now.
Thoughts: This was a quick and fun read that differs from Kubica’s previous books. There were two different stories unraveling at once, and while I guessed some of the twists early on, there were still some surprises at the end. I always love when thrillers take place in a medical setting and this was no exception. There were also a lot of scenes that took place late at night on the streets of Chicago, which were creepy! However, there were some plot holes in the story that if this was occurring in real life, I don’t think some characters would have got away with what she did. If you turn a blind eye to that and just enjoy, it’ll be worth it… however I am over here still contemplating.
What to expect:
-Domestic suspense
-Serial killer storyline
-ER nurse
-Complicated mother/ daughter relationships
-Chicago setting
Thank you HTP for the ARC! Pub date 4/2/24
Meghan struggles to balance her career as nurse, while fulfilling her obligations to her teenage daughter. Recently, a young woman has been brought to the hospital with a traumatic brain injury. The story is that she jumped from a bridge, but a bystander has a different tale to tell. Meghan wants justice for the young woman, and even though she has vowed to stay out of her patients, personal lives, she just can’t let this go. But at what cost? Has she not put her own daughter in Jeopardy?
Another winner from Mary Kubica! You’ll be on the edge of your seat, but who would expect anything else from the suspense author who always delivers. 10/10!
