Chicago ICU Nurse Meghan Michaels ha a lot going on she is a single mom raising her teenage daughter with a less than helpful ex husband, doesn't live in the best neighborhood and her building door doesn't always shut, there is someone stalking women in the area and she meets a old high school friend in a divorce support group. When she gets assigned a patient named Caitlin who is in a coma after a fall from a bridge she gets too close to the family. Clever use of the fears of a single mother living in the city along with some twists with the characters relationships and motivations made this an entertaining mystery. I enjoyed Meghan as a protagonist and the supporting characters were well used to reveal secrets and build tension as the plot moved along. I received a free digital copy of this novel from the publisher.

Rated 3.5 ⭐️

Caitlin has become a patient in the ICU from a traumatic brain injury via a suspected suicide attempt. An ICU nurse, Meaghan, is assigned to care for Caitlin. Caitlin's diagnosis and circumstances hits close to home for Meaghan, making caring for her difficult.

This was a fast paced suspense novel. I got creepy, paranoid vibes in the first part of the story that left me on the edge of my seat, made me wonder when the second shoe would drop. All of a sudden part 2 of the book happens and the puzzle starts coming together.

While reading the book, I felt it was an ok read. The plot twists didn't really wow me. I didn't get that feeling of not wanting to put the book down until chapter 24.

Thank you to Netgalley, Mary Kubica, and the publishers for this free ebook. This review is 100% my own and honest review.

This was a great novel. I thought many different things while reading but didn't see it coming towards the end. The flow of the storyline made it that much better. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and will recommend it to many others!

I listened to this on audio and the narration was great. This story was all over the place and was disappointing.

Another great book from one of my favourite authors. This thriller definitely kept me intrigued right from the first page. I loved the characters and they completely had me guessing. This book was so atmospheric and descriptive whether we were in an ICU room or out on a cold city street. Meghan is a compassionate ICU nurse treating her comatose patient Caitlin. In Meghan’s private life she is dealing with a teenage daughter while coming to terms with her divorce. As the story unfolds there are some great twists and turns and revelations about the characters. The pacing and plot were outstanding. I absolutely loved this one!

Deftly plotted psychological thriller left me completely entertained.

Critical care nurse Meghan Michaels is a single, divorced mom living in a Chicago apartment, working hard, and trying to keep her teen daughter, Sienna, safe and happy. Meghan is assigned to a patient named Caitlin who has barely survived a fall from a pedestrian bridge. Was it suicide? Caitlin has horrific injuries and Meghan ends up growing personally involved by caring for her and interacting with Caitlin's parents.

Meanwhile, Meghan has concerns about getting to and from work when she hears that a stalker rapist is attacking women who live nearby. In the cold darkness of winter, while attending a divorced persons support group, Meghan meets an old acquaintance form high school and they become close confidants and friends.

But suddenly, things take a very strange turn. Someone says that Caitlin's fall might have been a push rather than a jump. Meghan's new friend disappears, and it seems was not telling her the truth. Sienna is hostile. And a secret is close to being exposed.

This had a lot of fun twists and revelations that kept me engaged throughout. Some I anticipated, but others took me by surprise, and I really liked the turn of events. Meghan was an interesting main character, flaws and all, but quite easy to relate to and understand her motives and actions. The details about her work as a nurse were accurate and, as a nurse myself, I appreciate that. Of course, some things were a bit unrealistic and conveniently coincidental, but I just went along with the ride.

I listened to the audiobook while reading along in the ARC e-book provided by the publisher and I totally enjoyed the experience. Definitely recommend to anyone who likes intricately plotted and perfectly paced suspense thrillers with an interesting and uncommon premise.

This book started off slow for me but then had me thinking what in the world is going in!? I enjoyed where it went. The characters were fleshed out and the thrilling parts really hit!

This a slow-burning thriller that gradually reveals its secrets, keeping you hooked from the start. The story unfolds methodically, drawing you into the mystery behind Caitlin's tragic fall. The author crafts a twist that adds a layer of intrigue to the story, though some parts feel repetitive. The plot gains momentum in the latter part of the book, delivering a satisfying conclusion.

Yooooo, this book was WILD!! Like what the actual f#%k. Kubica has such a way of making her thrillers super climatic. You cannot help but gasp at every reveal. This book opens up with a fast paced prologue to jump you into the story. Call this book Six Flags because you’re in for some crazy loops, high speed, and twisty bends! I would go into this neutral. I’ve seen mixed reviews; you either love it or hate it. I love Kubica so I’m definitely on the LOVED IT side Highly recommend!

She’s Not Sorry by Mary Kubica is a page turner that is sure to surprise the reader. A young woman arrives at the hospital in critical condition. She has a traumatic brain injury that has been caused by a fall from a bridge. Was this fall a suicide attempt, an accident, or perhaps an intentional push? The nurse taking care of the patient becomes friendly with her distraught parents who are by her bedside most days and nights. Something does not seem quite right. She’s Not Sorry is certainly a novel that will leave you thinking about what exactly is happening as the plot progresses. Is she really not sorry? Thank you to Mary Kubica, Park Row Books, and net galley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this novel.

3.5 but rounded to 4 stars!

Thank you Netgalley, Mary Kubica, and the publisher for an #ARC in return for an honest review!

Do you want to cozy up on the couch, grab your preferred drink of choice, and binge a novel? Well then this one is it!

Kubica does really well with domestic, twisty mysteries that have you second guessing everything and everyone around you.

A mystery that keeps you on your toes. Meghan is an experienced ICU nurse who is recently divorced and raising her daughter, Sienna. At work, Meghan is assigned to take care of a suicide patient who recently jumped off a bridge.... or did she? She usually try's to stay away from her patients personal business but for some reason, she cant seem to let go of this one. Twisty with psychological aspects. There were moments that made my skin crawl. Did I trust any of the characters? Heck no. Shocking elements and man, did I binge this once I got started. Since this is a bit of a slow paced mystery, you need to hold out about half way which can be hit or miss. If that is not your jam, then you might not enjoy this much. I don't think the slow burn aspect made this unenjoyable but it does make me pry my attention away sometimes.

So what didn't work for me?
To be honest, I guessed quite a few things, so that was a bummer. I didn't get the full affect but that's not a huge issue. I also thought this was a bit... too long. At times, there was description where it wasn't really needed. The ending was also a little too perfect for me.

Overall, yes I enjoyed this and would recommend! Shocking twists and a slow burn. Enjoyable nonetheless.

Mary Kubica is one of the best thriller writers I have come across. I loved her story Local Woman Missing and Just the Nicest Couple. I knew I had to read She's Not Sorry as soon as I heard about it. Yet, again Kubica did not disappoint.

She's Not Sorry is a twisty psychological thriller that follows Meghan, single mom and ICU nurse. I was intrigued right away because I can relate to many of her struggles as a single mom. Kubica drew us in right away with the story of this patient in a coma and you wanting to know what happened to her. I really enjoyed the side characters in this story and their little mini-stories woven in. Kubica writes really deep characters with a lot of backstory, but written in a way that isn't overly wordy or cumbersome to read.

Kubica's ability to write twists and turns and shocking discoveries is next-level. I have never found an author that can truly throw me a curveball the way she can. I thought I knew what was happening as the book progressed and then I was completely blindsided when the truth came out. I literally gasped out loud when I read what was actually happening. I was able to guess earlier on who I thought was responsible for some things in the book, but it was no where near what I was thinking and I will never get over how good Kubica can always surprise me at the end of her novels.

If you love really twisty, psychological thrillers, then She's Not Sorry is definitely one you have to pick up. You will not guess the shocking revelations and they will keep you flipping the page as fast as you can! Mary Kubica has delivered another absolute must read!

She’s Not Sorry is a very, very, very slow burn thriller. The first half is more or less tension when the MC is walking home most days from work, knowing she may be unsafe. The opening chapter teases something significant happening, which is what kept me reading.

I almost gave up on this one but then SO MUCH HAPPENS in the second half. I’m torn on my rating because the twists in the second part were entertaining but man was it a long journey through the first half to get there.

4.5 stars

Not a dull moment. Mary Kubica did a superb job of weaving different timelines. Everyone is a suspect. It had me thinking, “Maybe it is this person, no. it can’t be,” the major plot twist had me saying, “Wait, what?!”. This is a binge-able book; you will want to finish it in one sit. One thing that prevented me from giving the book five stars was the ending; the only predictable part that ended up happening added a little too much and ruined the book for me.

Thank you #NetGalley #HarlequinTradePublishing #MaryKubica #She'sNotSorry for the electronic copy.

This was a much slower burn than I'm used to, but once things started picking up - they PICKED UP! I really like how the book was written and all of the twists. I did guess one of them, but the book was still fantastic. Definitely recommend!

This was my first read by Kubica and there was a lot I enjoyed about it. There were great moments of suspense and Kubica did a great job of building the sense of fear most all women have had walking alone at night and feeling vulnerable. Our main character is a nurse who is also a newly divorced mom of a teenage girl living in Chicago. She gets caught up in protecting an old high school friend from an abusive husband while also caring for a patient at work whose case becomes more and more complicated.

While I enjoyed the suspense and the main twist of the story, there were things that kept me from feeling fully immersed. Mainly, the actions of the main character are often hard to believe and seem to just serve the plot, and by they there are multiple plot points that make the story too busy. I’m all for great action and multiple plots coming together, but for me this one didn’t quite hold together. Even so, If you like thrillers with plot twists and some ambiguity at the end, this is an entertaining and bingeable read.

Another great novel by Mary Kubica. It starts off as a little bit of a slow burn but that doesn't mean it didn't keep my attention. The book is full of lots of twists and turns- some of which I guessed at least partially. There is a lot of suspense in the book and there are a few story lines going on that make you wonder what the connection is. Thank you to NetGalley and the the Publisher for an ARC.
