°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ A romance about a marriage in crisis set in NYC with two characters who I've been wanting to read for so long? YEAH YEAH YEAH ANA HUANG DID THAT °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
I can't say much or else Bloom Books will activate the snipers hidden around the world ready to take me out, but I'm just going to share my feelings and how this book made me feel. I hope that my review makes you more excited about Alessandra and Dominic.
I love me a marriage in crisis though it hurts and it's painful and I suffer quite a lot while reading a marriage in crisis romance lmao. BUT WE LOVE PAIN AND ANGSTY MOMENTS, RIGHT? Alessandra and Dominic made me feel sooo much - I was screaming, crying and a mess from time to time while reading their story. I also really loved the pace of the novel, I finished this so quickly??? The chapters were short and so easy to get into. I was A FAN!!!
There are so many awesome moments in this book that I feel readers will immediately love and they will become iconic quotes everyone will soon share everywhere. I just adored every moment I spent reading this book <3
And finally, yes the grovel is amazing. BYEEEEE
We’ve gotten to know Dominic and Alessandra a bit over the last two books, and while my heart broke for Alessandra’s situation, I’ve never been one for second-chance romances, especially when the characters were already married. Or so I thought. Once again, Ana’s extraordinary storytelling pulled me in and refused to let go. I’m officially a fan of this trope, but I truly wonder if anyone will be able to do it as well as it was done in King of Greed. There’s lots of groveling, self-discovery, and, of course, steamy romance.
One of my favorite aspects of Ana Huang’s King of Sins series is that although it’s a billionaire romance, there is little to no power imbalance between the couple. In the first book, Vivian was a part of high society long before Dante came into the picture. Even though Isabella is a bartender, Kai never uses his money to win her over (and it turns out she’s got a solid, albeit unwanted, backup plan). In this one, Alessandra steps away from all of Dominic’s money, and while she does struggle to prepare her storefront, she’s more than capable of doing it herself.
In addition to that, all of the female characters in the Kings of Sin series have their own hopes and dreams, their own lives outside of their love interests, and King of Greed is no different. In fact, Alessandra’s story is about discovering that side of herself, becoming independent and reliable on no one else. Seeing her struggle and eventually accomplish her dream was incredibly satisfying, and I loved watching her blossom as much as I loved seeing Dominic grovel.
Since we get to see Sloane quite a bit throughout this book, it also managed to get me even more excited for King of Sloth. I love this series, and I know I'll be so sad when it's all over!
If you’ve read the first two books in the series, you’ll know that Dominic has chosen his career again and again over his wife: Alessandra. Finally, she’s had enough and this book is her decision to finally file for divorce and branch out on her own.
While it might not seem like a romance at first, this book slowly morphs into one but not before we see Alessandra get her footing and Dominic reflect on what he wants. Despite being extremely rich and powerful, he begins to realize that the things he needs aren’t just that.
Throughout this book, we watch as these two go through so much together and apart yet they eventually can come back together. Of course, she doesn’t make it easy on him as he grovels, apologizes, and does everything he can to make up for his past mistakes. It’s also nice as we see flashbacks of how the two fell in love and eventually, fell apart.
Ultimately, this book felt like a much more mature romance from Ana Huang but I’m not mad about it. If anything, it made me love her even more. King of Greed had a bit of everything when it came to tropes. There was marriage-in-trouble, second-chance, billionaire, and more but I won’t give away everything as it’s best to go in blind.
Regardless, Ana Huang once again made me fall in love with this couple and root for them until the very last page. If you haven’t picked up this series by her yet, then you need to because it’s amazing. I’m honestly counting down the days until the next book releases because I just can’t get enough.
Rating: 4.5
This is probably my favorite book in the series so far. I’m not typically a fan of second chance romance but the author did a great job making me love this one. The couple Dominic and Alessandra were perfectly imperfect. I loved seeing how they transformed their relationship and how their individual characters changed throughout the course of the story. I continued to enjoy the author’s writing style but I did find this one just like the last one to be a bit too long. I think the author has an issue with creating too many different plot points then having to take the time to wrap them all up in the end. Due to spoilers I won’t say but a couple of them could have been erased. Overall, though, I really loved this one and would highly recommend it. I can’t wait to see where the series goes next.
Thank you so much to @netgalley for my gifted copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
He had her, he lost her…and he'll do anything to win her back. It's Dominic and Alessandra turn to tell their story. If you have read the previous ones in this Kings of sin series you would have seen a bit of the cracks in this marriage in the background. Now it's time to bring to the forefront.
Overall, it was a decent read. If you enjoy second chance love stories mixed in with childhood trauma and a girl trying to find herself after letting her marriage and the needs of her husband be the center of her entire identity then I think you'll enjoy this!
There were some elements that didn’t work for me but overall I did really enjoy the read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC.
I have been impatiently waiting for this one and it did not disappoint! The feels, the angst, the drama, I loved it all! I can already feel the book hangover happening.
