A second chance romance with great chemistry, tension, and steam. Laugh out loud moments wove into some heavier themes of grief. Well done and not heavy handed. This novel was just a good time

5/5 - Let me tell ya this book had me smiling from ear to ear! It was a love story for sure, but it also touches on identity and insecurities and grief. The main characters are an actor and an actor/writer but it also involves romantic comedies and books and reading and all of my favorite things! The dialogue was smart, the characters were interesting and the burn was slow (without being annoying) until it very much wasn’t. And then it was spicy and oh so delish. I LOVE the fame trope and gobbled this book up in a couple days reading far past my bedtime!

Right on Cue introduces us to Emmy Harper, a Hollywood screenwriter (of rom coms) with famous actor parents as she is is getting ready to have her newest movie made. As the search for the perfect leading lady turns futile Emmy is convinced to act in a movie for the first time in over a decade. Her first movie, starring opposite Grayson West, was a flop and she received scathing reviews of her acting skills and blamed Grayson. She agrees to star in the movie, but, of course, her male costar has to drop out last minute and the only person available... Grayson West.

Cue the perfect enemies to lovers storyline! Was this book groundbreaking in the world of romance? No. Could you easily predict everything (including the third act breakup)? Yes. Did it matter to me? NO! This is one of my favorite romance books I have read and I was smiling the whole time I read it. My first Fallon Ballard book, but certainly not my last.

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the advanced e-copy of this book.

Rating: I really liked it!

Falon does it again! Right on Cue is a cute second-ish chance romance for two actors Emmy Harper and Grayson F West. When they were 15, they starred in a movie together and left the set enemies. Years later, they meet again on a different set and after they do it just once, to get it out of their system, feelings are caught.

This is one of Falon’s steamier books and I was here for it! There was so much good tension and chemistry between these characters, I was hooked. There is the infamous miscommunication trope, and I'm seeing a lot of comments on it in the reviews, but it didn’t really bother me as much. I think throughout the book, it's very clear how much Grayson likes her and cares for her. So much so, that I found Emmy to be a bit stubborn and I was team Grayson all along. He was steady while she was a bit flighty. So when we got to the miscommunication part, I was already like “Of course you’d do this Emmy”

Either way, I loved this and cannot wait to read Falon’s next book! Right on Cue came out last week. Thank you Putnam for the e-arc!

I was super excited to read this book because I have loved all of Falon Ballard’s books but this one fell short for me, There are two variations of miscommunication trope which one caused a third act break up. I love the rest of the story but the miscommunications took away from it. The ending was fast and whished there was more time for them reuniting. Thank you Net Galley for a copy of the e-book in exchange for my honest review.

Right on Cue was an adorable rom com. I enjoyed the enemy(ish?) to lovers vibe it gave off. The idea was fun. However, there wasn’t anything that truly stood out to me with this one. The plot was predictable. The romance was good but nothing earth shattering. It made me smile just as much as it made me roll my eyes. There were cute moments but there wasn’t anything that stood out to me as super heartwarming or memorable. Overall, I would recommend it if you’re looking for a quick/light read!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publishers for the incredible opportunity to read Right on Cue. All thoughts on the novel are my own.

Usually behind the scenes and known by her famous parents Emmy tends to write her romantic movies rather than star in them. When her latest project can't seem to find a leading lady she's asked to step up and give acting another go, what she doesn't expect when she agrees is that the man who caused her to take a backseat all those years ago ends up being her co-star.

I loved this take on this better than the "Hallmark" movie plot, although like most romance books there is a miscommunication trope, which seems quite obvious from the start, and maybe it's just me but I tend to enjoy this trope in my rom-coms.

Thank you, NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I believe that this was my first book by this author and I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I really enjoyed it a lot! I thought the premise was really cute and overall had a really fun time reading it. I will definitely be checking out more from this author.

I was so excited to read my second Falon Ballard book, and this story did not disappoint. A cute enemy(ish)-to-lovers plot plus all of the movie making drama make for a great book. These characters kept me guessing, and were at the same time very believable. I enjoyed my time spent reading this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital ARC of this book.

I’m on the fence about this book. I liked parts of it but other parts kinda annoyed me. Once the characters got together and opened up to each other i really liked it. But the conflicts were frustrating. The grown adult just assuming the things she did over hearing like two seconds of a conversation. Please. And not even confronting him about it? Girl bye.

I don’t know. I liked a lot of it but all of their fights and the main conflict closer to the end just felt super childish that took it down a oeg for me. Still love this author and will keep reading her future releases!

I would like to thank Falon Ballard, Penguin Group Putnam, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of Right on Cue in exchange for my honest review.

Emmy Harper is an awarding winning romance writer who finds herself acting in her own movie along side her childhood enemy Grayson West. Emmy and Grayson's lingering awkwardness is causing issues with producing a compelling romance during filming and have to find a way to reconcile their differences and find the passion to create a convincing romance on screen.

This book is a cute rom-com but it's incredibly predictable. I wouldn't say that it was difficult to finish, but I considered it to be somewhat boring since I saw the conflict from a mile away. If you had asked me before reading this book what I thought the entire plot was going to be, there's a 75% chance I would have been able to guess it correctly.

This book is worth the read if you're looking for a casual rom-com but don't expect it to bring you out of a reading slump or blow you away.

I have adored everything Falon Ballard has written and Right on Cue was no different - a second chance romance with a hollywood element is entirely up my alley and I loved following along to Emmy & Grayson's love story. Looking forward to more from Ballard in the future.

Thank you to Putnam for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

“I can’t believe you would remember something so insignificant after all these years.” 🧡 “Nothing about you is insignificant, Emmy.”

Emmy is a screenwriter who hasn’t been on screen in years, but when production has issues finding a lead for her newest romcom, she takes the spot. The issue is that her male lead is the one person in Hollywood she can’t stand. Their differences threaten to ruin filming and they’re put in a position where they have to either figure it out or move on from the movie.

I flew through this book! I had so much fun reading it and I really love Falon’s writing so much. I always enjoy celebrity romances and since these characters had ✨history✨ it made it even more fun. Emmy truly cannot stand Grayson but he doesn’t feel the same, so the tension that created was chefs kiss 🤌🏼 they have to spend so much time together on set and the way Grayson was such a little shit stirrer during scenes made me giggle. Their co-stars with benefits to friends to lovers dynamic was so natural and sweet once we got to know them a little deeper 🥹

The third act breakup/miscommunication trope wasn’t my favorite and really was the only thing I didn’t love about the book. It was a little too drawn out for me and absolutely could’ve been solved with a single conversation 😂

Microtropes & moments I loved:
Caretaking
“Let’s 🔥 once to cut the tension”
Hotel rooms across the hall from each other
Filming the 🌶️ scene with the intimacy coordinator
Grayson being such a simp
Ice skating
He’s a reader
The pining

Tropes:
Celebrities
Co-stars with benefits
Forced proximity
Second chance
All the tension
Movie set
Workplace

This was such a cute book!! It reminded me of The True Love Experiment. It was interesting to me that I liked Greyson more than Emmy. The 3rd act break up had me UPSET. The fact that it lasted months broke me. 4 stars because Emmy just needs to start jumping to conclusions because wow.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. I read it in less than 24 hours. I may have found one of my new favorite authors!

When the master of rom-com writing meets tragedy, she's off her game. After years of encouragement and support, she tries her hand at entertainment again. The male lead that was supposed to perform with her, the one that she trusted and knew so well, was sent to the benches because he was hurt and now she has to face the man who she blames for her early end to an acting career. This enemies-to-lovers trope doesn't disappoint, though there were a few parts in the book I found annoying. Overall, I'd recommend!

I loved Em and West so much that I couldn’t put the book down. The way that they were in love since young and had to re-learn to love again. Also Em’s mom really steals the show for best mother. I would read this love story over and over.

loved the premise but felt like it got lost in direction.. I enjoyed Ballard’s first two books much more than this one

Very spicy and romantic, the ending was closed up nice except for the part about his Dad. The main characters were older which helped.
