Right on Cue" by Falon Ballard was a pleasant surprise for me, especially since Hollywood romances aren't usually my cup of tea. It's a solid 4-star book that manages to be both sweet and engaging.

What makes this book stand out is how it handles the Hollywood setting. It's not just glitz and glamour; there's a genuine warmth to the story. The characters are charming and well-developed, making their journey feel authentic and relatable, despite the celebrity backdrop.

Overall, it's a cute, enjoyable read that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a lighthearted romance to curl up with. Ballard does a great job of crafting a story that's as endearing as it is entertaining.

I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with an ARC through NetGalley. As always, my opinions are entirely my own.

If you're in your romance zone, this is great. Otherwise, it's an ok.

In general, I like the premise.

It follows Emmy, a famous scriptwriter who got involved in a project with her former crush, Grayson.

The story starts with a narrative about Emmy’s prowess and her surroundings, then eventually moves to the real deal.

Ballard’s writing is very simple. It’s not difficult to follow the storyline because the narration was plain and easy. There were not many puzzles, except for the main reason Emmy hated Grayson, which naturally became the main focus and the fundamental reason I read this book to the end.

However, the climax of the story was lacking. It just happened and fin. Emmy’s character also seems inconsistent. For a prestigious award-winner, her decisions could be unprofessional and too self centered.

There was tension. But it fizzled out too quickly before burning up.

In conclusion, i have a good journey, but this book needs some works for me to love it. If you are in your romance era, hopefully this book does better for you.

This is an enjoyable, sweet, and romantic read. This is the story of Emmy and Grayson. They are starring opposite each other in a rom-com. They start as arch nemesis. You could easily see where this story was headed but it was entertaining none the less.

Both Emmy and Grayson are likable characters and you are rooting for them right from the start. Although there are bumps along the way, there are no real surprises.

Great, light, enjoyable read. Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley, and Falon Ballard for the ARC for my honest opinion. I will be looking for other books by this author to read.

Right on Cue 🎬 This is my first Falon Ballard book! Thank you, @netgalley for this advanced reading copy in exchange for my honest review. I love a celebrity romance and that it took place on a set, however a few things fell flat for me. I did feel like the couple had chemistry but their "conflict" seemed weak. Also, early on I noticed how often the main character literally said "Grayson effing West" according to my kindle, it was around 64 times. It drove me crazy to the point that it was distracting. I saw the author's note that she wrote this one for herself so I would definitely would like to give her earlier two a try. I just don't think this was one for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️This one will be hitting shelves February! Have you read any by Falon? #netgalley #arc #bookstagram #booksbooksbooks #bookreview

Right on Cue by Falon Ballard was just about everything I could ask for in a modern rom-com. This novel featured a smart, successful female lead, Emmy, who eats cinnamon rolls and milk shakes without a second thought. She is a screenwriter who is cast as the lead in her own romantic comedy. The male lead, Grayson, is a tall, hunky famous actor known for being the Sexiest Man Alive (twice) and his action movie roles. The plot includes some great tropes: enemies to lovers, forced proximity, manufactured small town romance, as well as clever banter between best friends, a happy ending, AND a sweet epilogue. Swoon.💘 This was my first novel by Ms. Ballard but will definitely not be my last. Pub Date: 2/27/24

Cute and hot. It was a fast paced read and very enjoyable. I think the pacing was a little off and I wasn’t really a fan of the MMC. All in all a good read though.

This was a super fun read and I thoroughly enjoyed the sexual tension! I finished it in 2 sittings as I couldn’t put it down!
I enjoyed the pacing of this book except for the end. Miscommunication as the reason for a third act breakup when it was an issue for them a decade ago… Made me want to yell at them to learn from the past!
For the most part I loved all of the characters including the smaller ones like the inn owner! The FMC cyclical inner monologue at the end that leads to the miscommunication was a bummer for me but not enough to hate the book!
Thank you to NetGalley and Putnam Books for the opportunity to read this excellent book!
Overall I loved this and give it a 4.5 stars!

"Right on Cue" is a delightful romantic comedy that hits all the right notes. Falon Ballard brings humor, heart, and Hollywood magic to this tale of love, second chances, and the challenges of showbiz. Fans of the genre will find themselves thoroughly entertained by Emmy and Grayson's journey, making this a recommended read for those seeking a dose of romance with a touch of Hollywood glamour.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the opportunity to snag an ARC in exchange for my thoughts on the book! Falon Ballard has quickly risen as one of my favorite authors and this book is a prime example of that! Emmy is a screenwriter that takes the leading role in one of her very own scripts. Little does she know that the acceptance of that role will lead her down a road full of emotions-both good and bad- as well as some very spicy scenes. The character development between the Emmy and Greyson was fantastic. I definitely could not put this book down and really loved how things wrapped up. I will be highly recommending this book!

Oh how I love a book centered around making movies or about famous people. Give me that a good enemies to lovers plot and add in Fallon Ballard’s signature banter and I am here for it!! With its hallmark movie setting and steamy romance I found myself just having a good time reading this one and sometimes that’s all I need and want in a book.

I really enjoyed these characters and the setting of most of the story. Emmy and Grayson had great chemistry and their tumultuous past together led for some great moments of tension in the present timeline of the story!

My main complaint with this book is the plot progression and development. It was very hard to get into the story at first, with very little of Emmy's actions and decisions actually explained to us. It was a lot of "showing," and not "telling," which is usually what I prefer in character development but immediately from the beginning meant that Emmy still felt very unknown and confusing to me until I caught up with her personality by the middle of the book.

Overall, this book was not my favorite from Falon Ballard, but still one that I would recommend to lovers of celebrity romance!

Fallon Ballard does it again, my favorite of her books so far! This was such a lovely story full of humor and heart. One of the best parts of this story are the many expressions of vulnerability. Emmy and Grayson’s tension and chemistry really simmers.

We can’t wait to bring Right on Cue into our store this spring. And with its wintery setting we’ll also be excited to re-feature in the winter of 2024!

Fans of NORA GOES OFF SCRIPT and WILL THEY OR WONT THEY will be sure to enjoy this latest from Fallon Ballard.

Thank you to Penguin Group—Putnam and Netgalley for an ARC of this book! I’ve willingly read and reviewed it. All opinions are my own.

Falon Ballard’s newest, RIGHT ON CUE, utilizes a ton of tropes—enemies to lovers, characters with a past—but the main one, and my absolute favorite, is famous people dating each other.

Emmy Harper is an award-winning screenwriter who is reluctantly returning to acting after a disaster of a first movie opposite Grayson West, now one of Hollywood’s Sexiest Men Alive. Despite her nerves, she’s excited to get back into her first love (and family business) while surrounded by her friends. That excitement is short lived when, on the day she arrives, Emmy learns that she’ll be acting with none other than her sworn enemy, Grayson West. The same man who ruined her acting career before it could even really begin.

I tore through RIGHT ON CUE, eating up every piece of pettiness, banter, and some of the cutest moments I’ve read all year. Emmy and Grayson’s issues were so relatable and there was no sugar-coating or quick fix. I loved all the peeks into celebrity life and the pressures that come with the scrutiny and spotlight. My only complaint is that I wish there was more!

Right on Cue was a quick and easy read and very entertaining! I thought all the characters were likeable and normal people, not overly extra or cringe. I especially loved the best friend, Liz, and Emmy's mom, I think they added a lot of the comedy. I loved the primary backdrop for the book and how detailed it was described to give the small town cozy vibes. I do wish that the whole reason they hated each other in the beginning was talked about more by the characters. Grayson just saying it happened because he was young and dumb left me needing to know more. They could've groveled and went back and forth a little bit more before getting together. I'm also not the biggest fan of the third act breakup in general, but that's just a personal preference. Overall, Right on Cue was a cute read and I will continue to support anything Falon Ballard writes. 4/5 stars

This was so fun! Emmy is a romantic comedy screen writer that is convinced to star in the movie she wrote. The only problem is her co-star is the man who made her stop acting when she was a teenager, who is also people's sexiest man alive. At first I found Emmy really stubborn but I think this was kind of the point. Grayson started off rocky but really grew on me and may be the perfect man?

This gave me everything! Enemies to lovers, miscommunication tropes, spice, a great plot, and really fun background into the process of making a movie and what comes before and after.

This was my first Falon Ballard book but will not be my last.

Thanks so much to Penguin Group Putnam and Netgalley for the advance copy. I enjoyed it immensely!

When Emmy Harper, Hollywood’s favorite darling, decides to step back into writing romcoms after the passing of her father, she finds herself starring in the titular role of her screenplay. She hasn’t been in front of a camera in fifteen years, so after a little convincing she finally agrees and is coming to terms with the decision.. that is until her costar is suddenly replaced with the man who is responsible for her acting hiatus, Grayson West.

This was an enjoyable story with easy to follow writing and characters that can be found very relatable. The Hollywood setting is always fun and it didn’t feel overdone.
The steamy scenes were very well done, it wasn’t too over the top and they felt realistic.

Needless to say, I did find both Emmy and Greyson very immature; both in their 30s holding grudges and acting like children in a movie set. Miscommunication tropes can be very hit or miss, depending on the circumstances of their conflict, and I felt like so much of their rivalry/hatred could’ve been solved if they acted like actual thirty year olds. I just felt very annoyed most of the time towards them.

Thank you so much Putnam Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first Falon Ballard book but definitely will not be my last! Emmy is a screenwriter, but after having a hard time finding a leading lady for her new rom-com movie she ends up filling the role herself. It’s been a while since she has acted but that’s not the problem…the problem is the leading guy is changed last minute to her childhood nemesis! This angsty enemies to lovers while being romantic co-stars in a movie is pure perfection!

I read around Christmas time and while this isn’t marketed as a holiday book, there were some winter vibes. The backdrop of the story is at a cute inn with all the swoon-worthy elements!

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the ARC! Right on Cue will be published 02/27/2024 ✨
