Right on Cue by Falon Ballard delivers an engaging storyline with well-developed characters. The pacing is excellent, keeping you hooked from start to finish. I would have liked a bit more of Grayson’s story. Never-the-less, a solid four-star choice for anyone looking for an enjoyable and entertaining novel — especially for those wanting a winter story that isn’t Christmas themed.
Oh my! I’ve read a lot of rom-coms, but “Right on Cue” is now one of my favorites! Reading it around the holidays made it that much sweeter! Yes it was cliche and somewhat predictable…but it was also a story line that I haven’t quite read before! This quintessential read drew me in from the beginning, containing many of my favorite elements (enemies-to-lovers, a snowy inn, and a lot of sass). But each of these tropes contained a spin or two! If you need a new book to read, check this one out!!!
I was really pleasantly surprised by this!
Good angst and a solid amount of push/pull. I do wish there was a bit more resolution to the ending.
*spoilers*
It seemed really sudden that he changed his mind so it would have been nice to see some of his anguish during their time apart and why he decided to forgive her! I also would have liked for them to talk a little bit more about their first kiss when they were teenagers and what went down/why he said those things. They both admitted that they were basically into each other the whole time but they never really expanded on that or explained why he said the things he did after the kiss. That's the only reason this isn't 5 stars!
This is a 4.25/5 for me. Definitely recommend!
I liked the main concept of this book, I feel like it's been a long time since I read something where any of the protagonists is an actor which was nice, but I still think that everything else didn't work for me.
It's a very fast pace reading, funny and entertaining, but I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters and for me that ruins a romcom, I guess it depends on taste but it's still a read that I would recommend:)
thank you to netgalley for this arc!
this was a cute, if slightly boring story. loved the premise, as it reminded me of will they, won’t they by ava wilder. & maybe i’m being too harsh but this was definitely a much weaker version of that. i enjoyed both the characters of emmy & grayson as individuals but didn’t feel a super emotional connection between them.
I felt like this gave me more vibes of Fallon Ballards debut novel, Lease on Love. I thought Fallon Ballard was my next favorite, but her previous book Just my Type fell a little flat for me.
I will say this is another Hollywood romance with a splash of enemies to lovers, miscommunication, and overall a spicy story that kept my heart fluttering until the last page.
It was a light quick read(I read it in two short stints, not wanting to put it down), and the rom com sat just right. At times I felt we kept coming back to miscommunication, and it shows we don't learn from our past mistakes which made me roll my eyes a bit. I was quite surprised by the lack of communication from Liz about the casting updates, so miscommunication showed up from more than just the main characters, it's a definite overarching theme. This is not for the faint of heart if you dislike miscommunication.
I loved the quaint small town setting for filming, and I loved the epilogue. It tied their experiences so perfectly together.
4.5/5 stars
Spicy scale: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it! The character's chemistry felt completely physical, so I had a hard time buying into their relationship.
Thank you to Netgalley for the arc book. I didn’t love or dislike the story. I thought the writing was good, but I wasn’t feeling the co-stars with benefit's. I felt like the relationship between the two was purely just based on sex and felt the chemistry without them ending up in each other’s beds every night during filming. Also, I don’t feel as the breakup to have been necessary but saw it coming earlier in the book. It’s not a bad read, just wasn’t my thing.
Falon does it again! Oh my goodness this is my favorite yet! I absolutely ate this book up and can not wait for everyone to read it!
I have yet to meet a Falon Ballard book that I don't like, and this was no exception. In this story, Emmy Harper is a Hollywood nepo baby, failed actress, and successful screenwriter. After a detour into more serious fare while grieving her father's passing, Emmy is going back to her roots with a new romantic comedy screenplay. There's just one problem - they can't find someone to play the female lead. Emmy initially refuses to act in the film, as she had a truly terrible experience as a teen actress, largely because of her co-star Grayson West who is now a super famous action movie star. Her best friend (also the director of the film) and her mother manage to convince Emmy to try again, and she's ready to get started at the adorable inn where the film is set when she gets some bad news. Her co-star has to drop out and has been replaced by - of course - Grayson West. Their chemistry on screen is terrible until they decide to start secretly hooking up (for the good of the film) and... well, this is an enemies to lovers romance, so you can probably guess what's next. I loved this and read the whole thing in one sitting. It was funny, charming, and the characters were complex and interesting.
I blew through this romance novel during a roadtrip and found it to be very predictable and full of tropes, but not necessarily in a bad way. The setting was super cute, and the doors were super wide open. The rom-com movie writer turned actress forced to work alongside a man she thought ruined her career... but it was all pretty much down to miscommunication and individual insecurities. There was really not a lot relatable about these characters — they were pretty over the top — but I was still rooting for them, and although I saw many of the twists and turns in their relationship coming from a mile away, that doesn't mean I wasn't eager to see how it would all turn out in the end.
I was hoping that I would like this, but I do not care for it. I tried to push through, but was not able to finish this. The writing style isn't for me, and I think I've realized I don't find books about actors/movie making all that interesting.

An amazingly perfect sick day book that was quick to read as I couldn’t put it down. So glad I came across it!
Fallon Ballard is a must read author for me. Right on Cue was a fun, light hearted story that definitely got me out of a reading slump. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC!
I enjoyed the characters in this entertaining romance. The emotions are huge, at times rather over-the-top, but it all meshed together for a good read.
This is my first Falon Ballard read but it won't be the last.
This did start off a little iffy for me ( I am not a fan of the fake articles/blog posts/interviews right off the bat as I have zero context for the characters yet and it just done't sit right with me) however i was quickly sucked in and finished this in 24 hours. The character growth of both Emmy and Grayson is top tier as is their banter, compassion and grace.
This ticked some personal triggers/emotional boxes for me including the incredible relationship Emmy has with her mom, the closeness with her best friend and the comfort and ease in which Emmy grew close to several side characters.
This wasn't just a simple RomCom for me but an unexpected life lesson in the importance of open communication to avoid misunderstandings, the absolute need to have grace and compassion when mistakes are made and how vital it is to let go of your own pride in order to be happy. It is so easy to want to be right and do it at the detriment of your own happiness.
Both Emmy and Grayson learn these lessons humbly.
Grayson was an exceptionally multi layered character and I absolutely loved everything about him. He had flaws, insecurites and pain but he was also kind, faithful and supportive. As well as sexy and swoony.
This was an incredibly easy read full of heart, romance, friendship and lessons.
Emmy is a screenwriter, acting in a film she wrote. Grayson is a hot film actor who broke her heart when she was a teen acting in their first film together. Now they’re back starring in a rom-com together and neither has gotten over those first feelings.
I loved the chemistry between Emmy and Grayson and couldn’t put this down. I’m typically a fan of rom-coms, but particularly loved this one. I also loved that both characters were committed to working on themselves and identifying their own flaws that held them back in relationships.

Note: I received a free copy and this is my honest review.
Thank you for this book and exchange for my honest review.
I had high hopes for this book based on its description. Unfortunately, I struggled to get into the plot of the story. It just did not capture my interest.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this arc.
This is my second book from Falon Ballard and again am left a happy reader. I am not usually an enemies to lovers fan but the way Emmy and Grayson’s relationship developed and evolved while showing some snippets of their past was perfect. I think it’s easy to draw enemies to lovers out and be repetitive, I did not feel that at all with this read- I loved it!
Emmy Harper doesn't act anymore. She's made a name for herself not only as the daughter of one of Hollywood's A-list couples, but also as a successful rom-com writer. But when the production team can't find the perfect leading lady, Emmy has to step in. To make matters worse, Grayson West has to replace the male lead, and he's the reason Emmy doesn't act anymore. Despite their hostility, tension crackles between the two. Can they find common ground to shoot the movie, and can it become something more?
I have mixed feelings about this one. The relationship ends up being a good match, but the development thereof was not the best. Grayson starts out as a major jerk, and Emmy at least tries to be professional for the sake of the movie, but Grayson gives her nothing to work with, leading to (warranted) frustration. At one point Liz, the other producer, forces them to watch their scenes to see how bad it is. I felt like Emmy was getting blamed too much when she started as the more professional of the two. There also wasn't real resolution to their teenage issues? Beyond this, the ending conflict also seemed to be blamed more on Emmy when both of them were in the wrong. Other than these gripes, I had no issue with the relationship or the plot.
This was definitely spicier than Just My Type and had a lot more character development in my opinion. I really, really liked Emmy, and the side characters were also great without being overly-quirky. I'd give this more of a 3.5 if I could!
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review!:)
