I am big fan of Falon Ballard’s previous books, and immediately requested to read an advance copy of Right on Cue when it became available. I flew through this book just as I have with the author’s previous books. The emotions that Emmy and Grayson experience are universal and make them easily relatable despite their profession as famous actors that few will actually experience. I loved seeing the chemistry between the characters evolve over the course of the book. I would have loved to get some of Grayson’s perspective throughout, but still really enjoyed this book without it.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Putnam Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I had a great time reading Right on Cue. I was eager to see how Emmy and Grayson's relationship would progress, so I had a hard time putting the book down. My only issue with this novel was the miscommunication trope, even though I truly loved reading it. I was so annoyed by it since I was dying to shake these characters and get them to talk because it was such a big part of the story. Fallon Ballard writes such easy and enjoyable books, and I will definitely be reading more of her works in the future. This book receives a 4 from me overall.
I am grateful for this ARC, which I received from Penguin Group Putnam and net galley.

I have been a fan of Falon Ballard's rom-coms since she first started publishing them. Unfortunately this one just missed the mark. I didn't enjoy the main character at all. I felt like she was very immature and the conflict from the beginning just didn't make sense. All of the characters were surface level as well as the romance. It was I hate you for no reason to automatically in love in days with no real clarity or growth with the characters. I didn't believe it at all and I wasn't rooting for the main characters. If she would have added either character growth, more tension, or even more time with the romance, it would have been a better book. Highly disappointed. Hoping her next release goes back to the beginning of her rom-com days.

Thank you so much, NetGalley and Penguin Group, for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I fell in love with Falon Ballard’s writing and storytelling since “Lease on Love,” this book did not disappoint. The plot and characters were phenomenal. However, the miscommunication trope did play a role, so if that’s not your thing, you may not like this book.

If you’re an enemies to lovers and/or second chance romance, then this book is definitely for you. Both characters debuted together when they were teens, but the movie plummeted, and this is Emmy’s (FMC) first time acting in over a decade. I also fell in love with West (MMC) from the beginning. Due to the characters' forced proximity, they must deal with each other, and how the story plays out, I felt it was very natural. The lines were blurred, the walls were broken, and the chemistry was authentic and heartwarming. Lastly, this book was a quick read and gave major Hallmark vibes.

Right on Cue is by far one of the cutest rom-com's I have read this year. It had the perfect amount of sweet, sass, and spice. It was really easy to root for Emmy from the very beginning. I loved Emmy and Grayson's chemistry. Overall a great enemies to lovers, and second chance romance. I can't wait to read more by Falon Ballard!
Thank you Netgalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the ARC!

Right on Cue is such a fun, fast read! I loved the main character, Emmy, who after years of taking a break from being in front of the camera, is convinced to be the leading lady in her newly written RomCom. After some twists and turns, she is dismayed to find herself flat in front of one of her worst fears, being face to face with the man who humiliated her years ago in her acting debut. The new leading man, Grayson, brings unresolved tension, and a lot of sexual sizzle!, to the scene and before long, this enemies to lovers story is steaming up! I loved reading about the behind the scenes world of movie sets, acting and world of celebrity. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast, fun and interesting read. Thank you NetGAlley for this advanced digital copy in exchange for my review!

Right on Cue was the perfect, breezy beach read! I love a good rom-com so this was a no brainer for me to pick up. What was really special to me was the fresh idea of having the characters beings actors in a holiday rom-com. Very meta, and the dialogue - so witty.

I’ll be checking out the author’s other books.

I loved Just My Type so I was really looking forward to this one! Fallon Ballard is so good at writing relatable, flawed characters you just love to root for! Enemies to lovers and fake dating are two of my favorite tropes in romance books and they didn’t disappoint here. The two main characters having to act in love for a movie was such a fun twist on the usual “fake dating” trope and I really enjoyed it. They sexual tension was off the charts!

I absolutely loved Falon Ballard's Just My Type, so when I saw the ARC for Right on Cue was available, I knew I had to request it!

Unfortunately, I didn't love this one as much as Just My Type. Although I did enjoy the story and the storytelling, as I read it, I felt like I had read this book before. The plot was predictable, and I wasn't blown away by anything.

I did, however, love the connection between Emmy & Grayson, their banter, and how their relationship played out throughout the story.

It was a quick and easy read, and although it wasn't my favorite, I would still recommend checking it out if you enjoy enemies to lovers/second chance romance tropes!

A little slow, but a fun romcom! I liked the unique storyline, but did find it to be a teeny bit predictable. Romance stories aren’t known for their surprising twists and turns though, so I was just along for the ride and it was enjoyable.

This is my first Falon Ballard book and I loved these two characters. Emmy Harper is a screenwriter who ends up being the leading part in her next movie. Now enter our leading man, Grayson West who she worked with years ago and broke her heart. This is an enemies to loves and second chance romance. There were so many heartfelt moments between Emmy and Grayson as well as some tension filled moments. I do wish we had gotten Grayson POV in the book because there were moments that I would've loved to read where his head was at. I do also think that Emmy should have communicated why she had issues with Grayson sooner than she actually did.

Overall I did enjoy reading Right on Cue. Grayson and Emmy did have great chemistry. They both were able to feel vulnerable with each other and give each other a safe place to express themselves in a way they probably haven't been able to do so before.

5 stars! Enemies to lovers. Secret romance. Second chance romance. And more!

Emmy was heartbroken during her first acting job when her costar Grayson, said she couldn’t kiss. It changed her life. Years later she’s writing screenplays and her latest, a romcom needs a leading lady, I guess she’ll set in, but wait til she finds out who the leading man is…

This was a quick, spicy, romantic read. I loved the Hollywood of making a movie. I loved the tension between Emmy and Grayson. I love how they resolved it…

I’d recommend this book to anyone who likes a good old fashioned romcom.

Thank you NetGalley and Putnam Group for the ARC.

I love Falon Ballard, and this book proves she doesn't miss. What could have been a thin premise - former costars who had a massive misunderstanding in their teens- felt believable due to Ballard's careful character building. The characters physical and emotional connections felt electric. I would have loved to have seen more of the MMC's teen feelings, but I don't think the book suffered without it.

Falon Ballard has written another steamy, swoon-worthy rom com. I literally couldn’t put this book down, and I finished it in hours.

Emmy and Grayson are well-developed, likable characters with major chemistry. I especially appreciated the emotional depth of Grayson.

I could deal without the third-act conflict, and I missed the quirkiness of characters from Ballard’s previous books. (Celebrities can be dorks, too!) But all in all, this was a delightful read.

Read if you like:
🩵 Celebrity romance
🩵 Enemies to lovers
🩵 Friends with benefits

Many thanks to NetGalley and G.P. Putnam’s Sons for an eARC in exchange for my honest review. This book is out on 2/27/24!

The enemies to lovers trope was on point! Emmy and Grayson have the broody guy and sunshine girl vibe that seem to never want to work out but always do. The miscommunication was something I could see happening and I’m glad Liz tried to point that out to her but keeping up with it and her feelings in the moment I think was very smart. It was easy to fall in love with the characters Main and backup. Sam was a life saver on multiple occasions and I loved that he was a part of the story. Thank you for giving a new perspective on the relatively repetitive trope.

I love this book so much! One of the best romcoms I’ve read in a while & my new favorite from this author. Enemies to lovers set in Hollywood. I couldn’t put it down & was sad when it was over. The chemistry between Emmy & Grayson leapt off the page. I loved the wink at other romance tropes. And the scars they each carry were believable & gave their love story more tension & depth. A must read for fans of Nora Goes Off Script & Funny You Should Ask.

Right on Cue was a steamy rom com. It is a light, quick read with the happily ever after we are always seeking when reading a romance. I enjoyed this book.

This story revolves around Emmy Harper, a Hollywood screenwriter who is beloved and the daughter of two Hollywood celebrities. She is taking on the lead acting role in her own rom-com movie beside the actor, Grayson West, who broke her heart early in her career.

This was a 3.5 book for me. It fell short of a higher rating because I felt frustrated with both of the main characters in this story too frequently. The amount of miscommunication between the main characters was over the top for me. I think this story would have been better written from a dual POV. Emmy became very annoying with her insecurities and acted foolishly impulsive and childish.

That said, overall, I liked the chemistry and steam the characters had in the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Book Rating 4/5 and Spice 3/5

This book is Single POV of the FMC Emmy who is a screen writer and the MMC Grayson who is an actor. The main romance troupes of this book are ennemies to lover and forced proximity with a third act breakup and HEA.

My thoughts:
Big picture, I think this overall is a good book with some small nitpick things that were not my favorite. This isn’t really in my opinion an ennemies to lovers it is more miscommunication to lovers. We aren’t really told what happened to make them “enemies” until much later in the book (miscommunication as children). With this book as a single POV the story and relationships feels very one sided. At many points I was wondering what Grayson was thinking and how he felt about situations. One example is the third act breakup due to another miscommunication; I would have loved to see how Grayson was doing when Emmy basically ghosted him or when they first re met on the set. After the third act breakup I loved that Grayson didn’t take Emmy back instantaneously but rather made her grovel.

As I said it’s a good read and worth your time. Thank you to NetGalley and Putnam for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
