OK, I thought about this for a while, wavering between 4 and 5 stars, but honestly? I really loved these characters. They were complicated and nuanced, and the writing was just as snappy and fun as Fallon Ballard's earlier novels. The premise of an on-screen romance and an off-screen slow-boil conflict was irresistable. I just loved this story, and several days after finishing it, I'm already missing the characters.

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group/Putnam for the ARC! I am just delighted that I read this book -- and I hope you'll all go read it when it comes out next year!

I loved this! This was one of my favorite rom-coms this year! I usually don’t love the enemies to lovers trope but this one had me hooked. It’s actually my first Falcon Ballard read but I’m definitely grabbing her others right now.

Right off the bat we're suppose to believe these people hate each other over something Grayson said 15 years ago when they were teenagers. What he said affected Emmy so much she quit acting... Not only that but when they come together for a new project, Grayson starts to sabotage it. These people are in their 30s.. Their entire story was wishy washy and i didnt root for them, in fact I found them to be immature and annoying. The steam was good but then we had our classic third act break up. I liked "Just my type" so I will give this author another chance. But this was a complete miss for me.

Thank you so much GP Putnam Sons, PRH and NetGalley for the ARC of Right On Cue! I have adored Falon Ballard’s other works and I was so excited to receive this in advance of publishing.

Main characters Emmy and Grayson are the classic enemies to lovers couple and it’s clear with the use of their last names, pet names, quippy arguments and so much more. The two are adorable in this small town romance.

Right On Cue felt totally like a book I should have read around Christmas time, with so many small town scenes that felt like love to me. From ice skating to hot cocoa drinking to a small town inn, my small town romance brain totally ate up the building of the location, snow filled streets and steamy nights at the inn!

I think for me, Right On Cue lacked a major plot moment that really felt like I couldn’t wait to keep reading. I felt like it was thrown in at the last moment and quickly glazed over. In my personal opinion, I would have loved to see this as a dual POV to understand the other side of the conflict too. Personally, I think I would have been more attached to Grayson if I knew what was in his head, the conversations he was happening with his friends or even just what his interpretation was, but this felt very one sided and never had any larger moment around any character but Emmy. I was waiting for something to happen to another character so that there could be that redeeming empathetic moment for her, when I said “okay, she’s out of her head now, I get it.”

This book was 3/5 stars for me, a great weeknight romance read!

In this steamy romantic comedy, Emmy Harris is a screenwriter who steps in to star in her own movie! In a twist of events most expected for this genre, she ends up working opposite leading man Grayson West who is of course her nemesis. What follows is an engaging enemies to lovers romance trope with an oh so delightful meta rom com setting. These characters had great chemistry. I liked that Grayson didn't completely lose his personality after they slept together, but continued to be engaging until the end. The only part I disliked was the 3rd act misunderstanding drama -- can we just skip that or make it a little more realistic? Even still that part did not detract too much from my love of this book. I rarely give a romance 5 stars, but this one had all the right elements to make me love it!

This was a book that when I saw in Netgalley’s website I immediately wanted to start reading. The cover was so pretty, the author had promising reviews on goodreads, so I decided to give it a shot and I was not at all disappointed. This was such a fun read for me that I ended up finishing it way too soon. One particular thing i loved about this book was the amount of chemistry both main characters had. It made the intimate scenes all the more appreciated and blush worthy. Emery and Grayson are a couple i see myself rereading and recommending when It officially publishes this February!

Hollywood darling Emmy Harper is considered the queen of writing romantic comedies. That is, until tragedy struck and she swore she’d never write another happy ending again. After some time away, and lots of encouragement from family and friends, Emmy is finally ready to dive back into the genre with her latest project. But more is riding on this movie than just her return to the big screen. This time, Emmy’s also been convinced to star as the lead, dusting off acting skills she hasn’t used in over a decade.

Emmy’s nervous, yet excited, to give performing another shot, until a last-minute injury benches her trusted co-star. With filming about to start, there’s only one other actor available on such short Grayson West. A blockbuster action star known for his mega-watt smile and impossible abs, Grayson is anyone’s dream of a romantic lead. Anyone except Emmy that is, who still blames him for her disastrous first movie and the early end to her acting career. As filming begins, the friction between Emmy and Grayson is palpable and it’s anyone’s guess if it’s unresolved awkwardness or simmering sexual tension. The two are pushed to get their acts together—and quickly—or they risk tanking the entire movie, but if working things out leads to sizzling chemistry on screen, what might happen when the cameras stop rolling?

More please! ❤️🌶️ I love celebrity romances, and the history between Emmy and Grayson is so palpable from the beginning, it's spicy and delicious! The banter between the two, and the chemistry, is such a fun read! I haven't read Falon Ballard's previous books, but I think it's time to change that!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!

Such a cute book! I love a Hollywood romance trope and this was very well done! I just really felt for Emmy and really loved just all of her relationships (Liz!) with everyone

Right on Cue is my favorite work of Ballard's yet. This tale of teen romance gone awry, manifesting as adult romance gone awry is... so, so much fun. Right on Cue is delicious and heartwarming and frustrating in all the best ways. I really enjoyed this oen!

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC --- opinions are my own

Emmy Harper is a successful Hollywood screenwriter. She mainly writes Rom-Coms and her latest needs a leading lady. Emmy reluctantly takes the role herself -- reluctantly because her first job acting didn't go well .As the daughter of two successful Hollywood actors she has a lot of pressure .

Enter Grayson West -- an early first love that broke Emmy's heart is now the lead male character in the movie. Sparks fly when they discover each has to pretend to like the other. Will they be able to get over old hurts and actually make this movie?

A classic enemies to lovers , friends to lovers story that gets better with each page and leaves you wanting more at the end.

Definitely my new fave from this author! ✨🩷

Emmy and Grayson are starring in a new movie together but obvs they hate each other because of teenage angst and have to resolve their tension in order to make this rom com work! And it’s just a swoony romantic ride after that.

I really enjoyed this book and while I never love third act drama, this one was very easy and simple and didn’t make me want to grit my teeth and throw my phone into the river like so many contemporary authors do!

Loved it! Can’t wait for more from Falon Ballard.

Right on Cue was the perfect romantic comedy to curl up and read. Grayson and Emmy are the perfect enemies to lovers pairing with a little miscommunication thrown in for good measure. I loved the witty banter, fun side characters and growth in this book.

Once I started this book I could not put it down. The best recommendation I can give is to plan for a nice afternoon, a warm blanket, cup of tea and lots of laughing and tears of joy.

Well this was the most delightful RomCom I could have asked for. I have read Falon Ballard's previous novels but this is by far my favorite.
Emmy is a screenwriter who has written a new romance film set in an adorable small town in. Grayson West is a big-time movie star who gets cast as the leading man. When a perfect leading lady can't be found, Emmy steps in as the actress. The hiccup is that they have a past acting together that ended up causing quite a few problems for both of them.
This book was so much fun! The tension between Emmy and Grayson, the charming setting, Emmy's mom and best friend, it was all adorable. There was still a bit of depth which is nice to see in any romance novel! I'm already waiting for it to come out so I can send copies to a few of my romance-loving friends!

Falon Ballard does not disappoint! Her latest novel Right on Cue is a witty romcom that hooked me from the very first page. This novel centers around two celebrities that have had a rocky past and as fate would have it they end up starring in a new movie together! To say it’s awkward is an understatement, but you know the saying about there being a thin line between love and hate, and I couldn’t wait to see what side they ended up on!

Right on Cue is the type of romance novel you can’t help but devour! I love the enemies to more trope, and this novel is the perfect example of why! The banter between the main characters was fantastic and their chemistry is off the charts!! Right on Cue is a 5 star novel that I never wanted to end, I could read about these characters for a whole series! If you’re a romcom fan like I am, then I highly recommend this gem!!!

Sweet celebrity rom-com alert!!

📖 The Details:
Right on Cue by Falon Ballard

⏱️ Quick Summary:
Emmy Harper is the daughter of two beloved actors and a screenwriter herself. After no one else can fit the part, Emmy finds herself acting in her latest rom-com opposite Greyson West, her arch nemesis from her very first movie (the one that made her stop acting years ago). Glares are given, insults are thrown, acting is questionable, but...there's also a spark, and maybe a reconciliation.

💁‍♀️ My Take: I liked it. It was a solid 3.5 stars for me - with some very sweet (and spicy) moments. I do love a good enemies to lovers trope, and this one certainly had the reason to start as enemies and end as lovers, but I didn't feel like there was a GREAT explanation for some of the bad moments and miscommunication that made them enemies in the first place. Also the miscommunication toward the end was ehh. I know that bothers some people, but I was able to go with it. Overall, it was a cute and unique story with great banter, interesting side characters, and a good flow - with some serious themes of grief and insecurity.

Would recommend as a nice lil cozy read for any season or mood!

This was a quick, fun read! Emmy grew up as the daughter of two Hollywood stars and made her acting debut at the age of 15 with her co-star Grayson making his as well. Everything was going smoothly until she found out he was saying things about her to the cast. The chemistry fizzled and the movie flopped. Emmy decided to pivot to screenwriting while Grayson went on to become an action star.

Fast forward to present time and Emmy has written a new romcom after winning an Oscar for a more dramatic film. They’re unable to find a good lead actress and she is talked into starring in it herself. Emmy agrees and then the bottom falls out: her leading man gets injured and is replaced with none than Grayson.

Emmy and Grayson had great chemistry that I enjoyed, and the typical miscommunication didn’t bother me like it has in some other books.

Thanks as always to NetGalley for the ARC.

Loved this one! The writing was fresh and fun, the characters were flawed but likable, and the plot was appropriately paced. While this was certainly a story we’ve heard before, I enjoyed this take on the “enemies to lovers” and “dating my co-worker” tropes, set in the world of Hollywood movie-making. Pick this one up!

Thank you to NetGalley and G. P. Putnam’s Sons/Penguin Random House for this free advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Right on Cue by Falcon Ballard.

This is a very sweet, occasionally funny and fairly formulaic RomCom perfect for anyone who loves The Hallmark Chanel. It’s a lost love/enemies to lovers story set in both a picturesque small town and Los Angeles. If I say anymore you will honestly know the entire plot of the book, so I’ll leave it at that. It was a fun read with characters I enjoyed spending time with, so I’m rounding 3 1/2 stars up to 4.

An absolute delight. At first I thought Emmy may have been over-dramatic but then I realized Emmy is all of us. Seeing her work through all of this on page, sometimes indeed being over-dramatic and sometimes not was like a mini therapy session. Both Grayson and Emmy learned how to communicate with one another in their own ways through ups and downs and I loved how relatable it was.
