Absolutely a 10/10. I can’t say enough good things about Falon Ballard’s books. I would read her grocery list at this point. Her books are like a fine wine, they get better and better over time. Right On Cue was so unique. Not even going to lie, I really didn’t like Greyson at first (I think that’s the point) but I was so worried I wouldn’t love him eventually but I did. This book was so spicy and made me feel so happy for the main characters. 🥰

After absolutely loving Falon’s previous work, I am very sad to say this didn’t really didn’t work for me.
I enjoyed the characters and found them interesting and endearing separately. I also found the romantic scenes to be well written; but, I wasn’t bought in on their relationship journey. Based on their past and the conflict that happened during the third act I felt like Grayson needed to do a bit of groveling… but he was self-absolved of all his wrong doings? Yuck. And strangely Emmy was the one to grovel? Yuck. And all the people around her, who loved her, were so ready to jump to the defense of Grayson? Yuck. And between the two MC, Emmy was the only one who showed growth? Yuck.
I do agree with some other reviewers who found Emmy annoying because she was holding on to something that happened when she was a teenager - but I think for the sake of this story it was an event that had a profound impact on her, hurt her, and the resolution between Emmy and Grayson fell flat and left something to be desired.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Cute and a little predictable but who doesn't love some good ol' enemies to lovers? I really, really enjoyed this, Ballard's talent for storytelling shines through, making "Right on Cue" a true star. Her ability to balance moments of tension with heartfelt emotions ensures that readers will experience a rollercoaster of emotions while reading this book. I could not put it down! It always fun when author's add a little something extra so all the articles and tabloids from the press were a great add on to the book! I am a sucker for the "celebrity" world and all things Hollywood so this was the PERFECT setting for me.

This missed the mark for me with literally everything. I loved this authors debut but for some reason this book felt like her debut. The writing was not really engaging and I had a hard time caring about the story and the characters. I didn’t like Emmy or Grayson. I felt like they had zero chemistry and I’m supposed to believe they really care for each other? I found myself skimming a lot so I could get this over with.

What I had hoped to be a new favorite rom com fell a bit short of my expectations. I am giving this 3 stars as I didn't hate it, but I didn't totally love it. After finishing, I feel supremely average. I just waffled back and forth so much during this.
Once again we have a case of adults not being able to move past their teenage drama and taking it out on each other until they realize that they need to work together before they destroy their jobs and their lives. Then when they finally admit their feelings, they have the makings of a pretty cute love story. Until it all falls apart after a predictably common case of miscommunication.
First, I was very excited for this based on the description - I love behind the scenes work in movies so I was eager to read about this on-set enemies to lovers romance. I think the on set scenes were some of my favorite moments. Especially when they began shooting the more intimate scenes, forcing them to behave like adults instead of feuding teens again. I also really loved the ice skating scene as this felt more genuine and gave us a glimpse of the characters in a more vulnerable space - with the scene following it too.
Unfortunately, the writing overall fell flat for me, It felt a bit plain and lackluster, like the generic brand of rom com, which did not keep me wanting more. It felt like the author was trying to cram in as much romance cliche as possible regardless of how scattered it made the characters feel. In some ways this makes sense given Emmy's career writing romance screenplays, but it was overdone and made the characters/interactions feel forced at times.
I did, however, really like Liz as the best friend who actually used her common sense every day and made good choices and tried to help her friends make them too. The Liz/Emmy's mom duo was iconic and I loved that.
A few issues I had with the story in particular:
- They have a conversation defining their relationship (a good sign) and how they will go on with a "costars with benefits" arrangement, but they even go as far as to say that they are trying to be friends. But then as soon as they start talking/doing things the way friends would, she begins regressing and calling them "enemies with benefits" which just makes no sense after they literally established this a few days prior.
- I feel like Grayson didn't have as much depth as I would have liked. We get his backstory as it pertains to his relationship to Emmy/his career, but beyond that he has no supporting people in life and we only ever see him interacting with Emmy's people.
- Third act breakups are never my favorite but this one was just plain irritating. I can understand Emmy being upset by what she overheard at the party, but the way she handled things was just not enjoyable to read at all. The silent treatment was unnecessary and immature and I almost wish Grayson didn't forgive her (at least not as quickly as he did).

I went into this book expecting a super tropey cute romance and got exactly that. This is a fun sweet book that I would definitely recommend to any romcom lover. It was a little much to me that the main character directly references the trope of a third act breakup pages before her own, but if you can suspend disbelief, you will have fun with this book.
But, and it's a huge but, the cultural references and slang took me completely out of this story. It was too much, from mentioning tiktok trends from 5 years ago to the overuse of the word "himbo", I don't think this book will hold up well at all. The references added nothing to the story besides dating it and making me pause every single time to wonder what the author could've possibly been thinking adding that in. Without them, this would've been a completely normal, sweet, albeit a little mediocre romance book.

I loved this book. I'm a Falon Ballard fan and have enjoyed all of the books I've read but for me this was my favorite. I was immediately pulled in. I could relate to the characters. I enjoyed the second chance, enemies-to-lovers. Definitely one I'm recommending to friends.

This story was cute enough. I liked the timeline and how he fell first. It was well written and flowed well through the story. The end felt a it abrupt (I like an ending that goes just a bit after they get back together, they have something they solve as a couple) but the book was a good length and was fun to read.
The characters, Emmy and Greyson, were cute and relatable. I liked how we learned more about the first movie they did together without long, drawn out flashbacks. I also liked that no part of the story really drug. Emmy and Greyson struggled a bit in the middle (as they should) but the pace kept up, keeping the reader invested and captivated.
My favorite part was the newlywed game- I think they both learned a lot about how the other works under pressure during this part. Sometimes in Romance books it feels like the characters fall for each other with little to no dating/getting to know you type scenes because the author is focused on bedroom scenes, but not here. This insight into their relationship helped the falling in love feel more authentic.
My only issue was really that it was a bit cliche. This was a cozy, predictable love story without any sort of zing/x factor that made me love it. I liked it for sure, but just didn't fall in love. I liked how there was no qualm about hooking up, they jumped right into that and kept the momentum with the newlywed game. Other that that it felt a bit flat for me at times.
Overall, a cute fun read that I think many readers will enjoy. Thank you so much for the opportunity to review!

Really enjoyed this book! I loved seeing them go from enemies to lovers. This author is really good at making me feel what the characters feel! This book had me kicking my feet up and giggling at how cute the characters were

Enemies to lovers
Forced proximity
Second chance love
I absolutely adore Falon’s stories and this was even better than the previous installments. The MC Emmy has some pent up aggression towards Grayson. Who unfortunately (but fortunately) was just cast as the leading male in her movie, starring right alongside her. Despite the effort she put to have him gone OR her leave, they are forced to stay in this movie together. No chemistry… lots of angst… that is, until they have to film the sex scene.

Right on Cue was a super cute easy read about two actors who have some rocky history as teenagers and end up in an unfortunate situation of having to star with each other in a new film. It was a classic enemies to lovers and miscommunication trope. I loved the cozy inn setting and getting to see behind the scenes of movie making. I didn’t enjoy the articles and tweets in between the chapters. They didn’t work for me and felt like it interrupted the flow. Overall, a nice classic romcom.

Right on Cue by Falon Ballard is a funny rom-com about Emmy Harper, an author-turned-actress/nepo baby (I hate that term) who finds herself unexpectedly filming her latest screenplay with her former crush-turned-enemy Grayson West.
This was a cute read. It kept me entertained and I read through it in two days. It *does* have the typical third act breakup and also includes enemies-to-lovers, priced proximity, and miscommunication tropes. I think fans of rom-coms will enjoy this one.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for granting me an advanced copy of the ebook in return for an honest review. This book comes out in February 2024.

I love romance books involving celebrities, so this was a hit for me. Spoilers ahead: Emmy is a screen writer with a failed acting past. She is forced to star in a rom com that she's written, and is surprised when her costar is suddenly switched at the last minute to Grayson, an actor from her past that hurt her personally and professionally. They are forced to work together and things do not go well...until they do.
I loved the sweetness between the characters and I loved how strongly Grayson felt about Emmy. One wish I had was that they would have explored what happened when they were younger a little bit more. They had one short fight about it, and then it was never mentioned again. I would have loved to hear more from Grayson about his side of the story. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others.
Read if you like:
-celebrity romance
-enemies to lovers
-forced proximity
-he falls first
-second chances

I am so thrilled to have found a fun new author to devour her catalog of books!
Very cute story {basically a giant miscommunication!}
It's a little bit sexy and a whole lotta sweetness!

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advanced copy and giving it an honest review. I absolutely adored this Falon Ballard book called Right On Cue and devoured it within two hours after starting it. This romantic comedy was funny, entertaining, hot and steamy. The two main characters Emmy and Grayson had undeniable chemistry along with their hilarious banter with each other. The only thing about this book that I was not a fan of was the third act break up in it. Otherwise I enjoyed every second of reading this sizzling new romantic comedy and can't wait for other people to like it as much as I did.

I’m a sucker for a Hollywood rom com, so it’s no surprise that I enjoyed this one. The main characters were famous and filming a movie together, and the author added in gossip site articles and twitter type posts to the story as other forms of delivering the storyline. That was a fun aspect.
what to expect:
- enemies to costars with benefits to lovers
- Hollywood film scene
- grief rep
- open door romance

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the ARC of this sweet rom com! I have read a few other books by this author and this one was my favorite so far! It was so sweet and I enjoyed the enemies to lovers storyline and thought the characters were well developed. It was interesting as well to see a little window in the world of movie making. The main characters Emmy and Grayson were witty and fun and it was just a feel good read! I would recommend it for sure!

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read and review this book! Right on Cue is my first time reading anything by Falon Ballard and I’m happy to say I really enjoyed this book! This a great choice for readers interested in Forced Proximity, Enemies-to-Lovers, Celebrity romances. Right on Cue is written from the heroine, Emmy’s POV, and I do wish we could have had Grayson’s as well. Emmy spends a good amount of time feeling conflicted and confused, and because the book is only in her POV, the reader is kind of left feeling that way too. Plus I think having Grayson’s POV would have added a good amount of pining to this book.

I love Hollywood behind-the-scenes stories and this was another fun read! Both characters have some emotional baggage and a lot of intuition which makes their emotional intimacy jump off the page, the snark from the FMC is met jab for jab by the MMC and I love the inferred relationship between the bestie and the mom. The setting is idyllic and it's basically filming a steamy Hallmark movie because of the snow covered Inn and the small town. I'm not one for angst so I appreciate the heartache was short-lived, though I do really wish the black moment had a little more depth, it happened and all of a sudden we were deep into the emotional hurt and I was left wondering if I missed a page.
All-in-all, I 100% recommend this book. This was an advanced reader copy of a new to me author and I'll definitely check out their backlist now!

Right on Cue was everything an enemies to lovers rom com should be — hot, sweet, vulnerable, and funny. While the inevitable conflict was predictable, it was still satisfying. Falon Ballard has become a must read romance author for me.
