I was thrilled to get this as an audio - it was such a hard, moving, generational saga. I definitely encourage people to read the author's notes at the end. This story had so much - all centered around identity in so many forms. This is one that will sit with me and be at the top of my recommendation list!

An epic family drama about three generations of Black midwives living in post-segregation era Virginia. EXCELLENT on audio narrated by Bahni Turpin, Joniece Abbott-Pratt andTina Lifford. This was a lengthy but oh so good story of life in the South and three strong-willed women told by a new to me author with an incredible voice! Highly recommended for fans of books like Call your daughter home by Deb Spera. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
