Definitely read the first 3 books with this. Over the top and worth it- funny!!
This picks up with the girls trip to AC and there's a whole host of characters that travel along with them, all in some way cramping the fun.
Will definitely read more of this series!
I swear I love this series. Even though this one and the last one were not my favorites they keep me so entertained. I love Vero and Finlay and the crazy situations they get themselves into. This one was no different.
I love this series. Finlay and Vero’s antics never fail to make me laugh (genuinely laugh out loud). The storylines are always clever and have a good mix of suspense and mystery.
Thank you to #netgalley, #stmartinspress #minotaurbooks for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
If you're looking for a wild ride that skims the line of reality, then this is your thing. I enjoy that fact that this series picks up nearly immediately after that last book ended. Unlike other series, there is very little recap of the past books to catch up up if it's been awhile since you last entered this story.
Finlay seems like get into MANY unrealistic situations and finds her way out nearly unscathed. For a divorced mom of two kids, she really doesn't spend much time parenting. I had a hard time reading past that part. However, like I said, if you can get past the craziness and just deep dive in for all it's worth, then you won't be disappointed. It will be interesting to see if or how this story continues.
Thank you to the publisher for the gifted copy.
Finlay and Vero are up to their usual shenanigans, this time in Atlantic City. That's pretty much the summary of the book without giving anything away.
I really wanted to love this one but I spent 97% of this book wondering how in the world they were going to keep themselves from getting arrested before the book was over. The ridiculousness was out of control. Yet...that kind of made the book hilarious in a good way?
I think you need to start with book 1 and read your way through the series to actually appreciate this book. It's definitely not a "pick up mid series" book, both plot and character wise.
Dare I say, if there's a 5th book (not sure how, with the way it was all wrapped up), I'll probably read it = but I won't be in a rush.
"Finley Donovan Rolls the Dice" by Elle Cosimano is an exhilarating rollercoaster of a novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish! Packed with thrills, humor, and heart, this book is an absolute blast to read.
Join Finlay Donovan and her partner-in-crime, Vero, as they embark on a wild girls' weekend getaway to Atlantic City. But what starts as a cover story for a dangerous mission quickly spirals into a high-stakes adventure involving loan sharks, kidnapped crushes, and stolen cars. With Finlay's ex-husband and meddling mother in tow, the stakes are higher than ever as they navigate through a maze of deception and danger.
Cosimano's storytelling is sharp and witty, with twists and turns that will leave you guessing until the very end. The dynamic between Finlay and Vero is pure gold, and their antics are guaranteed to have you laughing out loud. And just when you think things couldn't get any crazier, a dead loan shark and a team of unexpected police officers add even more chaos to the mix.
But amidst all the chaos, Finlay's determination and resourcefulness shine through as she races against the clock to save her loved ones and clear her name. With a dash of romance and a heap of adrenaline-fueled action, "Finley Donovan Rolls the Dice" is a wild ride you won't want to miss.
So buckle up and get ready for a heart-pounding adventure that will leave you breathless and begging for more. Cosimano has hit the jackpot with this electrifying novel—it's a surefire winner!
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is another fast-paced, hilarious book in the Finlay Donovan series. These books must be read in order. In fact, the story of Rolls the Dice picks up immediately after the previous book, as in, literally only hours later. For the reader who is reading these books as they are released, with months of waiting between readings, it can be hard to remember exactly where the characters and story left off. Fortunately, the author does a sufficient job of reminding us what "just" happened in the previous book.
Rolls the Dice gives the reader a tour of Atlantic City, hitting all the necessary settings: sand, the boardwalk, casinos, a spa, and a strip club; plus, there's a dog named Kevin Bacon. All the characters from the previous book are again players in Rolls the Dice, plus new characters are added as the story progresses. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, but it works, especially as the characters occasionally recap who's who, what has happened, what we know, and what the characters are trying to accomplish.
I love every book in the Finlay Donovan series, and the audiobook narration is always perfect. Rolls the Dice is silly and funny, yet it still has that wonderful friendship between Finlay and Vero that I so adore. Rolls the Dice seems a little bit racier and more daring than previous books in the Finlay Donovan series, but almost always in a hilarious way. This series reminds me, in the best possible way, of the early books in Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series.
Elle Cosimano will continue to be one of my must-read authors. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
4.5 rounded to 5
This was such a fun read, as always. Finlay and Vero took their crazy adventure to Atlantic City and of course get into just as much trouble as usual. I love their relationship and friendship. I also really loved the family dynamics included with this one.
Loved being back with Finaly and Vera. These stories are always so fun and I always leave wanting more.
These books are so much fun. The situations our favorite bff duo find themselves get a little ridiculous at times 😜 but it is a delight to see how they’ll get out of them. Be prepared this book picks up right where the last one ended.
I was a little disappointed on the lack of romance aspect. I wanted a little more.
The mystery, humor and intrigue were perfect.
This was my favorite Finlay Donovan yet! Okay maybe aside from the first one. The Atlantic City setting was a little ridiculous, and you had to suspend quite a bit of belief, but boy was it fun. I loved how all of the characters got a decent amount of screen time. I loved the romantic relationships. I loved Kevin Bacon! This was a great conclusion to the current Finlay story arc. I was worried it would drag on too long, but Cosimano ended it just right.
Get in, Readers! We’re going to Atlantic City 🎲🎲
In ELLE COSIMANO’s latest novel FINLAY DONOVAN ROLLS THE DICE we get to spend more delightful time in the world of Finlay and her nanny/partner-in-crime, Vero. And what a fun world it is!
I’ve been devouring this series since it launched in 2021. It’s smart and witty, filled with hijinks, good humor, twisty mysteries and some delicious love interests. Finlay and Vero get themselves into some truly precarious situations and throughout the novels have surrounded themselves with a great ensemble cast of characters.
The standout relationship by far is Finlay and Vero who grow into total ride or die besties. They are Lucy & Ethel with a dash of Dead To Me’s Jen & Judy. I couldn’t love them more.
ROLLS THE DICE is the 4th book in the series and I'm enjoying how ELLE COSIMANO keeps finding fresh ways to keep the story going. I appreciate the thread back to the original mystery in Book #1, but we still get new characters and new mysteries to solve.
When the book opens, Finlay and Vero are in dire need of girl’s trip and have their reasons for setting their sights on Atlantic City. But when Finlay’s ex, Steven, and her mother insist on tagging along, they are forced to strap the kids into the car too. Not quite the plan they had in mind but that’s never stopped them before. Casinos + a stolen car + a missing person. Just another day for Finlay & Vero.
Yes, some of the scenes are a little over the top, but in the best way. I feel like in this book COSIMANO Is having real fun with the story, with some winks and nods to the craziness of the situations and also a nod to the readers.
I am happy to see some stories tied up here and am curious to see what COSIMANO does next. I'll be following Finlay and Vero wherever they go!
I love this series so much. Finlay and Vero are the ultimate duo, and I loved reading about their shenanigans in Atlantic City. Such a fun continuation of the series, and I am so excited to read about what happens next! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for a fair and honest review!
Finlay Donovan will forever be a favorite series of mine and this next installment in the legendary series continues the trend, but did not break any new ground for me.
The antics in Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice are equal parts silly and thrilling as the other books. Just when I think Elle Cosimano has pulled out all of the stops, she does it again with another fun escapade of Finlay's, but this book seemed especially far-fetched. That being said, the ending redeemed this novel for me. Spectacular way to end the book!
Nick emerged as a favorite new character of mine- easy to have a reader's crush on this guy and root for him. Am I crazy to think he's almost too good for Finlay? Steven still sucks, Vero is still a queen, etc.
Will there be another novel in the series? I think so... in all truth I can't wait for more. This is still an addicting series to read. Giving this novel 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
I had so much fun reading this book, even when Finlay and Vero’s constant bad decisions made my anxiety spike. The author did a good job letting you know what happened in the last book, in case you didn’t remember. Vero’s attitude and one-liners were really entertaining and I enjoyed her character development throughout the book. Easy four stars.

Another great installment of the shenanigans that befall Finn and Vero. They are still as hilarious as ever and the situations they find themselves are just so out there but a tad believable which makes it all the more worthwhile. I absolutely love this series!
I was a big fan of the first book in this series and was delighted to get an ARC from #NetGalley. The characters continue to delight and I can easily imagine this being adapted for television. Clear set up for Book#3 too.
Not my favorite of the Finlay series, but a fun story nonetheless! I don’t know why this one didn’t hold my attention as well as some of the others - it might have something to do with the romance aspect? But the Atlantic City setting was enjoyable, and the end was certainly climactic. Would put it at a 3.75 ⭐️ for me!
Another fantastic installment in this series!! Finlay and Vera are a freakin' hoot!! I laugh out loud so often when I read any book in this series. This book was no exception.
Finlay and Vera have to rescue Javi in Atlantic City. What can go wrong? Finlay's ex husband has to go along, as well as her mother and the kids. That's just the start. 🤣 They sneak into the loan shark's hotel room and find not one but TWO dead men. Y'all I can't make this up. 😆 Elle writes some of the funniest & lightest books I've read in my life. Also, the narrator for these books, Angela Dawe, is absolute perfection for this series!!!
This review isn't long because you just need to read or listen to this book. Actually, if you haven't already you should read or listen to the entire series. You won't regret it!
I REALLY hope there is a book number five!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
