When I tell you I was SCREAMING at Finlay and Vero this whole book…this was a wild ride! Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the fourth instalment in a series about an author and her nanny who accidentally get wrapped up in murder, mayhem, and mob business. Finlay and Vero plan a girls weekend to Atlantic City as a cover to save a kidnapped man, track down their stolen car, and get a loan shark off Vero’s back. An entire cast of characters end up tagging along, including Finlay’s hot cop boyfriend, who doesn’t know her secrets. Shenanigans ensue! The ending of this book totally clinched it for, and sets up the next book perfectly. I was totally locked in for all of the misadventures and close calls, dying to know what the girls get up to next. Can’t wait for Finlay #5! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free ecopy of this novel for review.
Okay, so after finishing Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, I wasn't sure if I really wanted to continue this series. It is the third book, and I thought it was the weakest addition to the series. However, after finishing Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, there is no way I can stop here. This was my absolute favourite so far.
Now I wasn't expecting to read the entire book tonight. I thought I would just start it - but I could not put it down. I could not figure out a spot that I would be able to stop reading without me wanting to find out what happens next. The shenanigans that Finlay and Vero (and even Finlay's mom) get caught up in are laugh out loud funny, and even more ridiculous than previous books.
I really enjoy Elle Cosimano's writing - the way the story unfolds and the way the characters act are just so fun. Also, the ending was so unexpected, but perfect for making me want to pick up the next book whenever it comes out!
This is a great continuation to the Finlay Donovan stories. This novel was just as thrilling and complex as the others in the series, a great, consistent story. There weren't any plot holes I found myself fixated on, just good, consistent drama.
Finlay Donovan has to be the absolute luckiest character there has ever been. She is able to talk herself out of situations, no matter how complicated or concerning. Finlay is yet again a funny charming character that you can't help to love and root for. No matter how she messes up, you'll always be rooting for her and Vero's success.
I took off a star for the romance with Nick, I just don’t see a connection on any level other than physical between the two. Finlay is ALWAYS lying to him, I’m not sure how they can love each other with the minimal truthful interactions between the two.
If I'm being honest, the fact that this is the 5th book in the series is confusing to me, the events of the past books begin to blur, but I think Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice will stand out from the rest.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a mess and I loved every second of it. I have listened to all the Finlay books, but I read Vero’s, so it took me a second to get used to Finlay/the narrator again. I found this funny, sweet, interesting, fast paced, a truly enjoyable time. I am very curious to see if there will be another!
I loved this addition to the series. Cosimano has done a fantastic job with these books. They do tend towards the unbelievable but they are so fun with such colorful characters that it doesn't matter. This story was great, entertaining and an overall great read.
Thank you NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the advanced ebook copy of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice! The book is out now!!
This book picks up right where the last one left off, and Finlay and Vero find themselves on a road trip to Atlantic City with the kids. Don’t worry about missing the other characters. They all somehow weasel their way into the girls trip.
I absolutely loved the first Finlay book, and as the series goes on I’ve lost interest. Everything with Finlay is becoming too repetitive and confusing. The part I enjoyed the most about this book was Vero and Javi’s story line. I tried to read this before the pub date, but I ended up needing to listen to the audio because I kept loosing interest in the ebook. Unfortunately, this will be my last read for the series.
I loved this! I love the Finlay Donovan books and this one was no different. I love the characters and the plot. There wasn't any plot holes and the story was set at such a good pace. It held my attention
Elle Cosimano delivers a masterful blend of comedy and mystery, making this an irresistible read from start to finish. Finlay's adventures are as heart-pounding as they are hilarious, ensuring this book earns a well-deserved five stars!
READ👏IT👏NOW👏
Although this was the slowest in the Finlay series, it was still action packed, sweet, and absolutely ridiculous! What I really want is a Vero series, she is own bad ass chick.
Love the cover art of this book.
There are too many scenes that are hilariously funny to recount.
I love the overcrowded and uninvited guests that tagged along with Finn and Vero to Atlantic City.
Add in a body, the mob, a cool sports car plus a little dash of slots and deuces and it’s a raucous time in the sin city of the east coast.
Just when I thought Fin was really going to get lucky with. Nick and score, another body interrupted…..
The only thing that has a tighter hold on me than this series is the disappearance of Kate Middleton.
Guys. This series is WILD! And I love it!!!
Every book the stakes get higher and higher and Finlay and Vero wiggle their way out every time. My anxiety is always through the roof but the book is so well written and has such great pacing and plot that I CANNOT stop reading.
I devoured this. I just love the relationship between Nick and Finlay and I really really want this to work about but I’m also kind of freaking out because he is a cop and Finlay is well…Finlay 😂
This book is out NOW so RUN to buy it or place a hold at the library!
This is the fourth installment of the Finlay Donovan series, and I’m still just as engaged in the story as I was in book 1. Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice was a fun and exciting story with lots of danger, intrigue, and more dead bodies. Some threads from the previous books are wrapped up in this book, and yet this book also leaves you on a cliffhanger that promises more crazy adventures with Finlay and Vero. Speaking of the characters, I love seeing how they’ve developed over the books, and they feel like real people. My one drawback is that I really wish Finlay would tell the truth about everything to Nick - he definitely seems suspicious so we’ll see if the cats are finally let out of the bag in the next book.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for sending me an e-ARC of this book! All thoughts and opinions above are my own.
I will forever and always love the Finlay Donovan series. It brings light hearted into crime and mystery, which would typically never coexist. You find yourself constantly turning to pages to see how the Finlay-Vero duo is going to get out of their current predicament while simultaneously laughing at how they ended up in this position.
What I loved a lot about this fourth book was how it merged everything from the first three books into this Atlantic City adventure. With that said, you definitely do need to read the first 3 books in order to understand what is going on.
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice (Finlay Donovan, #4) by Elle Cosimano was every bit as fast paced, exciting and hold your breath suspenseful as the other books in this series. Finlay and Vero have become the friends that I continuously enjoy welcoming back into my life and heart. Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice picked up exactly where their last installment left off.
Finlay and Vero were headed to Atlantic City on the pretense of wanting a girl’s weekend away. They found themselves accompanied by Finlay’s children, mother and ex-husband. With Finlay and Vero at the helm of this girl’s weekend escape, it was expected that it would turn out to be anything but the expected calm and relaxing time it was meant to be. Finlay and Vero were on a mission to find Javi. Be prepared for dead bodies, confrontations, lots of sleuthing, a lost dog with a reward offered for its return, new and familiar characters and of course romance.
This series never gets dull for me! I expected twists and turns, drama and situations that only Elle Cosimano could have dreamed up and made believable and that was exactly what I got in this book. The ending was unexpected and made me want to read the next book in this series even more. I really enjoyed reading Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice and highly recommend it.
Thank you to Minotaur Books for allowing me to read Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice by Elle Cosimano through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Finlay and Vero are in way over their heads. Javi is missing and Vero owes some bad people a lot of money. Finn and Vero drive to Atlantic City, children, mother and ex-husband in tow. How will Finn and Vero find Javi with out raising suspicion? When Finn's hot cop boyfriend, Nick, shows up the stakes get even higher. This book reminds you a lot of Stephanie Plum and her antics with Joe and Ranger. Will they find Javi or will they be running for their lives?
Thank you for allowing me to read this book as an ARC.
This book does not disappoint!!! If you loved the first 3 in the series, you will love this one again too! It's a fun quick read and the adventures of Finlay are just as great as in the other books. Oftentimes, when a series continues, the authors lose that 'pep' and things can get repetitive. Elle Cosimano, however, keeps the fun and suspense rolling and keeps the reader entertained! I hope there will be more to follow!
If you haven't read any of the first 3 in the series, I highly recommend reading them in order to fully gain an understanding of the characters and especially Finlay. You will appreciate this book then even more so!
I devoured this book in 24 hours. I am ready for the next in the series to come out 😀
Here are some things I love about all the Finlay books:
They hook you immediately
They are HILARIOUS, (no spoilers, but in this one I loved the scene where they think they're going to a diner and end up elsewhere)
They are books about the MC writing a book/struggling to write a book
They do a great job portraying motherhood
In this one specifically, I really enjoyed the Atlantic City setting for something a little different. And I love how the epilogue makes you want to read the next book immediately (wtf are you up to Mrs Haggerty?!)
I'm so glad there will be more Finlay and Vero adventures. I will forever recommend this series to everyone. I actually am not normally a series gal, but this one is something special. I even reread the first three books in preparation for this installment.
Thank you NetGalley, Minotaur Books, and Elle Cosimano for allowing me to read early!
Loved this book! It was so much fun to get back with Finlay and Vero and going to a different location made it fresh and fun.
I have to admit I still don’t care too much for Nick (and no I’m not mad the lawyer lost 😭😂), but I loved finlays journey and character growth in this one and can’t wait for the next one
A fun setting yay NJ this one was just a bit too long, the series is feeling a little drawn out to me to be honest. It was a fun concept but just kind of tired of the same formula
It’s always fun to be back in the shenanigans with Finlay and Vero! I had a blast reading this with a group last week and laughing so hard!
This book was fun, exciting, and so hilarious! Finlay and Vero once again are on the hunt for answers and stumble upon so many more questions while in Atlantic City! Can you imagine a “weekend getaway” where your mother, ex-husband, two small children, your lover, sister, police and FBI all decide to tag along?! 😆 Well, it made for some fun reading and creative excuses.
I wish that the previous books had been more fresh in my mind. I struggled with remembering details of who/what/when/where/why while I was reading. It was a lot to process quickly.
If you enjoy a good laugh and have been reading this series, please jump back in! I hope you enjoy it!
