Finlay and Vero are at it again! This book had me laughing on the first page!
Finlay and Vero track down the stolen Aston Martin and the kidnapped Javi to none other than Atlantic City. When Finlay tries to turn it into a girl’s trip and take her kids, her ex-husband, Steven, ends up tagging along. Then, needing a break, Finlay’s mom decides to join as well. Once the group arrives in Atlantic City, they are met with hilarious antics, more bodies, and quite a few twists and turns.
I thought I was tired of this series, but nope! I absolutely LOVED this book! I could easily picture every single scene happening in my head. I could see the surprise on Finlay’s face when her sister shows up. I could see the heartbreak during certain moments. I laughed at the situations these two found themselves in.
I had 2 drawback. One was that I didn’t really see the need for Steven and Finlay’s mom to be there. My second were that there were SO many characters introduced in this book, I found it hard to keep them straight at times.
I’m one that frequently forgets things that happens in books as well, and I think Elle does a great job of bringing in the major points from the first 3 books to make it flow beautifully. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series!!! Thank you to much to Minotaur Books and Netgalley for an eARC of this book! All opinions are my own!
Rating is 4.5 stars, but NetGalley doesn't allow for half stars.
I might be in the minority on this one, but I fought my way through reading the Finlay Donovan books, so much so that I can't quite remember the first three books. I am, therefore, sad to say that I am not the target audience for these books, though I really wanted to be. Please take my review with a hefty handful of salt and give it a go for yourself!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to review this book. All opinions are my own.
3.5⭐️ Finlay and Vero are back, and this time their fun shenanigans return with a road trip to Atlantic City!
This is the fourth book in the series, which picks right up where the last book left off. Trouble always seems to find Finlay in the right place at the wrong time, but with a sidekick like Vero, the story is always sure to bring the laughs.
*many thanks to Minotaur Books, Netgalley and Macmillan audio for the gifted copy for review
Finlay and Vero are back! I love this hilarious duo and they are in some trouble again
They plan a girls trip to Atlantic City but it's actually a cover story to negotiate a deal with a dangerous loan shark, save Vero's childhood crush and hunt down a stolen car.
This is a fun fast paced mystery that had me laughing just like the other books!
3 stars- this was okay.
Thank you Netgalley, the author, and Minotaur Books for the #ARC in return for an honest review!
I think that this was just okay. It had some decent parts and then some other parts that I just did not care for in regard to the whole series. I am not sure if I will continue reading this series.
What did I like/what to expect?
👍🏼vegas vibes
👍🏼quick paced
👍🏼romance aspects
👍🏼murder mystery
👍🏼the banter between Vero and Finlay is always a blast. Its funny and I could see why they are besties.
What could have been better?
👎🏼very repetitive... I feel like there were a lot of filler words and sections that just did not matter to the story.
👎🏼there is just too many issues and things going on that it keeps getting more and more dramatic and unbelievable
Once again, writer Finlay Donovan finds herself in a pickle with the mob, and she and her sidekick nanny are heading off to Atlantic City to straighten things out. I have enjoyed all of the books in the Finlay Donovan series, but I do feel like they're getting more outlandish and slapstick with each new installment. I love the characters, and the dialogue is always entertaining, but I find myself repeatedly shaking my head over the choices the main characters make. I'd like to think they're smarter than that. With that said, it's still a fun read, and I will continue to recommend this series.
I love being in Finlay's world - the laughs, the insane situations she finds herself in, and of course the sexy boyfriend cop! While not actually similar on paper, I think I really enjoy this series the same way I absolutely adore Only Murders in the Building - it doesn't take itself too seriously even though the storyline revolves around murders. The dynamic within the book is so enjoyable, and the characters are equally loveable and irritating - but in such an entertaining way!
* I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this book. All thoughts are my own.
3.5 stars
I love Finlay! She’s absolutely one of my favorite characters and it ~kills~ me every time she gets herself into situations. I just unfortunately found this one a little less interesting than the rest of the series. I think I just liked the accidental murders more than her popping back and forth to the casino with the already dead bodies. I did think her mom was a hoot and obvi Vero was still a blast. Stephen was super annoying and I sort of get why he was included (to watch the kids) but I didn’t care about him in the slightest. I do wish there was a bit more Nick!!!
I do recommend the series, as mentioned this book just wasn’t my favorite one.
Thank you Netgalley, Minotaur Books and Elle Cosimano.
What a pleasure to read this series, I love Finlay and Vero's friendship, crazy adventures and family.
They make me laugh, easy read.
I will continue in the series.
4 stars
There’s just something about this series! I love the chaos, the humor, the friendship, and the mess that Finlay keeps managing to get herself into! The story lines are far fetched but that’s what makes this series so fun to read! I can’t wait for the next book!
This is a series that just keeps getting better. I'm going to aim to avoid spoilers if you haven't started book one BUT if you haven't started book 1 you should!
This is the story of a mom who is an author, freshly divorced, and just hired a live-in nanny. She's discussing her latest book idea with her agent at a Panera. Little did she know, the woman sitting next to them misunderstands and thinks they are planning a murder. She swiftly requests Finlay kill her husband in a small note she passes her and leaves the restaurant. That is the hilarious and witty start to book 1!
Now, here we are, 3 books later and I'm still loving the series! In this 4th installment, we get to know Vero so much more. We get to see Steven come to some realizations and Finlay really fight for her independence and her kids. It's really great to see the character development, growth, and to still laugh out loud to the silly moments of the stories! I can't wait for the next one (coming out in 2025!!)
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
Finlay and Vero are back! I am a big fan of this series. Book 3 was a bust but book 4 is back with the banter, action, tension, and mystery elements I love about this series!
The two girls plan a trip to Atlantic City for a girls weekend and to negotiate a deal with a dangerous loak shark, save Javi, and look for a stolen car. Finlay's ex, Steven, and her mother also insist on coming along for the ride too.
I love Elle's writing and her banter and dialogue between Finlay and Vero are some of my favorites between a detective duo. The mysteries are also fun but I've been sticking with this series for their friendship and hijinks!
This was a fun addition to the Finlay Donovan adventures! Characters have stayed true to their nature throughout the series and I look forward to more!
Elle Cosimano did it again. She was able to capture Finlay Donovan's adventures and shenanigans. Fast paced novel with Finlay as the main character that can't stay out of trouble.
I love a good mystery! I could have done without the ex drama but it did add to the mix! I love the type of relationship she has with her mother and friends. The storyline was easy to follow.
This was my first Finley Donovan book, but def won't be the last! The background information given was great and didn't make me feel that I needed the other books.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review an advanced copy of this novel. I highly enjoyed it and will be recommending it to others. Excellent series.
4.5!! Omg this one was SO much fun, and the exactly amount of absurdness and finlay/vero mess around. It felt like the series was back on track :)
While the first book is still my favorite, I'm loving following Finlay and Vero on their ridiculous adventures. This book is great if you need something a bit lighter or just want something fun to read.
This was probably my least favorite of the Finlay Donovan series, however, it was still SO funny and enjoyable!
I truly never tire from the banter between Vero and Finlay. They are such an incredibly hilarious duo that I feel like can get through anything no matter how ridiculous or life threatening. I will always read a book featuring them and I look forward to see how Finlay and Nick's relationship develop in future books.
