I was really excited to learn about this book. The series is just a ton of fun and slides effortlessly from one book to the next- though that does mean that these are books you need to read in order. In November We got a novella that gave some information into Vero’s story, just in time for book four where we are chasing leads on the shot up Ashton Martin and Vero’s long time crush. In normal Finlay fashion, things get out of hand quickly. Be it with party hungry hackers, semi-famous dogs, or the ex that will not give up… Finlay’s overwhelmed. But they have a loan shark to find, a hero in distress to rescue, a dirty cop to lose and a newly minted boyfriend that she needs to keep out of the way. What could go wrong?

I will say that this one was almost too silly- don’t get me wrong, I loved it… but we are starting to get just a bit over the top. It’s always been chaotic, mad-cap fun… but it became a bit extra. I mean, honestly. I am a fan of Janet Evanovich’s work- especially the Knight and Moon series- so I am used to a bit of rediculousness. I appreciate it, even. And we get that type of fun here, with fabulous characters that I actively miss when I put the book down. Even for me, though, this was borderline obsurd in parts. Still, it was well written, stayed in the same style as the other books and made for a fantastic read.

I wanted to check in with the audiobook because book 3.5 had a different narrator, and I wanted to make sure Vero would be the same. Stacy Gonzales is a fine narrator, but I had listened to all the other audiobooks for this series and the change in voice and tone was off putting. Here, the whole cast is read by Angela Dawe, and it’s amazing. Between getting it in eBook or audiobook I would most likely buy the audiobook- the whole series is very well done for one, and it’s the way I am used to going through Cosimano’s books.

This was a fun, insanely fast read. I feel like the story is getting to a good place, the characters are growing, and the antics are just spectacular. Don’t go in expecting it to take itself seriously, or looking for a cozy mystery (close, but I would say no). On the other hand, if you are looking for a fun who-done-it type of mystery; this is it. For me it was a four star book.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 4 out of 5.
On the adult content side, there is a ton of language, sexual content, drinking, gambling and violence. While geared towards adults, nothing was to the point that I would not give this to a new adult- 16 and up maybe?

I was lucky enough to recieve an eARC of this book from Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press in exchange for an honest review. My thanks, and my apologies once again for being late.

I absolutely love the Finlay Donovan series. The first two books were 5-stars. This book falls in line with the third. It’s fun, but it doesn’t have the same punch as the first two. The first two books had a good mix of believable moments mixed with the chaos of Finlay that we love. This book seems to lean into just plain ridiculousness. I still enjoyed reading it and will continue to read anything in this series…I love Finlay and Vero’s friendship.

Another great caper with Finlay and Vero! And her ex. And Nick. And the kids. And her sister. Even her mom has a larger role this time, which I absolutely loved. Luckily I just finished book 3 or I would have been lost. My forgetful brain definitely needs a recap or reread before each new Finlay book. This is a series that absolutely must be read in order, but that’s ok because all the books are hilarious, twisty, eye-rolling, and unbelievable. Yet also believable, if that’s possible? Finlay is so down to earth, hardworking, loyal, and a total baddie as a mom. I love her and Vero and I can’t wait to see what trouble they get into next. All the stars!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Every time I dive into a Finlay Donovan book, I'm never left disappointed, and I'm completely in it for the long haul. Or maybe it's a short haul because I devour these books so freaking quickly. Again, I absolutely adore Finlay and Vero's friendship. Then there's the overall mystery that just keeps you second-guessing every little thing.

Other than that, there's a hint of romance. No, not between Finlay and her ex-husband Steven. Even if he continues to believe that they will one day reunite as a family. He really needs to step up to being an actual father before he does anything else in his life. The number of times he left the kids alone and went off doing whatever he wanted just annoyed me.

Then there's Nick. I love his relationship with Finlay and just wanted more for them. Sure, murder and his detective job kind of threw a wrench into things. Plus, Steven is constantly cockblocking them. I'm hoping they finally get some much-needed alone time in the next book. That is, if there's another book coming out. After that ending, I feel like we will get one.

In the end, I really enjoyed each and every book in this series so far. I'm really happy that I got the chance to dive into this and can't wait for whatever Elle writes next. Just please be another Finlay book.

Thank you Netgalley & St. Martin's Press, Minotaur books of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice! Another 5-star book in the Finlay Donovan series. It's so rare that a series gets better with time, but Cosimano manages to defy all odds with each new novel following Finlay's life! As always, this one is filled with laugh out loud moments, an insanely talented narrator in the audibook version that brings the story to life, some mystery and a bit of romance to keep things sizzling.

Finlay and her nanny/bestie Vero continue to find themselves in trouble - This time during a girls' weekend away (which is actually cover for saving their friend Javi, dealing with a loan shark Vero owes thousands to, and hunting down a stolen car). Things get complicated when Finlay's mom decides to tag along - Not only that, but her ex-husband Steven, too. Oh, and Finlay's 2 kids are there. Of course hottie boyfriend (and cop) Nick has to make an appearance too, because why not?

I can't wait to see what Cosimano comes up with next - It will be a sad, sad day when this series comes to a close.

C’mon, this is Finlay Donovan. What’s not to love? Finlay and Vero, yet again, get into a sticky situation. There are dead bodies to move, an Aston Martin and an encrypted thumb drive to find, and a certain attractive police officer to hide all of this chaos from. Toss in some development of the Vero-Javi plot line and you have yourself a fun little romp. Is it ridiculous? Yes. Is that what makes it great? Also yes. If you’ve loved the previous installments of this series, you’ll enjoy this one too.

I did not like this as much as I did earlier books in series. Mostly because I could not remember everything that happened previously and this book assumed I did.. Would have preferred a “fresh”. story and not a continuation of previous books. Also tired of reading about mafia and or organized crime. Thanks to #NetGalley and #FinlayDonovanRollsTheDice for advanced digital copy.

This series is fun, fast-paced, and more than a little absurd, but I think that's exactly why readers love it so much.

In this fourth book of the series, I appreciated the change of location for our crew of characters. The seedy vibes of Atlantic City makes all the shenanigans that Finlay and Vero find themselves a little more easier to swallow, although the plot in this one comes close to jumping the shark one too many times.

There is some good development of relationships and conflicts in this story, some storylines are wrapped up nicely and others are started that will hopefully be further explored in future books.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Comedic Mystery Romance
Age Level: Adult
Content: some language, fade-to-black

Finlay Donovan is back with the latest installment of this enjoyable series, Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice. This is one of the best books in the series, and it is on par with the first in terms of plot movement and comedic dialogue. I have been a Finlay Donovan reader since day one, and I’m so glad because this book leans heavily on the plotlines from prior books in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the zany, hilarious adventures of Finlay, Veronica, and the rest of the gang as they head to Atlantic City for a girls’ weekend, aka getting into all kinds of trouble while trying to rescue close friends, settle debts, and take care of Kevin Bacon (the dog). I suggest this book (and series) to people who like a light-hearted romp through the underbelly of the criminal world.

Thank you so much to Minotaur/St Martin's Press for the advance copy!

We are four books deep into this series with 3 more to go! This series is serious such a fun time!!

This one picked up right where the 3rd one left off and what I loved about this was that it included all the characters! I love that the setting was in Atlantic City. There was a moment that Finlay and Vero are at what they think is a restaurant and well it is not and it was such a riot! And it just made perfect sense for it to happen to them.

Finlay and Vero are once again the best duo in books! I absolutely love their friendship and how they are ride or die for each other. They are constantly protecting one another and would do anything for the other.

My only issue with having a series is that we go a year in between and it's hard to remember what happened in the prior book. And this one was a continuation from all 4 books so it was hard to remember. With that being said I think Cosimano did her best with trying to incorporate as much backstory as she could. I think having some sort of character guide in the front would help.

This case was solved & the end set us up for the next book!

An entertaining, very enjoyable story in this excellent series that is perfect for a binge read. The characters are perfect and work so well together, it would not surprise me to know they are fictionalized versions of real people. This was a fast read, the story moves quickly with twists and lots of surprises along the way. It's easy to see why this series has it's own fan club of devoted followers.

Another Finlay Donovan book I loved! This book follows Finlay and Vero as they plan to take a girls trip to Atlantic City to rescue Veros childhood sweetheart Javi. Javi was kidnapped by the mob while trying to fence the Aston Martin. Only problem the gang decides to tag along causing the crazy shenanigans that I love in these books.

I am not going to lie I am a sucker for these books and will read everyone one of these so I am not the most biased opinion but I will do my best to give an honest review. To start with I loved the plot of this book, it was fast paced , fun and zany and kept me wanting more. I also loved the Atlantic City setting with the casinos it kept it fun and upbeat. The characters as always were top notch I love finding out more about Vero as she is my favorite character and Javi was great for the small amount we saw him in this book. My only complaint is there are some scenes in this book you have to completely suspend you belief in reality . These scenes were fun and over the top but there were times I found myself thinking there is no way that could happen but overall had a fun fast page turning time. I loved the set up for the next book and can’t wait to read it! I would like to thank net galley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

If you’ve read this series, you already know what to expect:

Dead bodies ✅
Disguises ✅
Wacky situations ✅
Finlay & Vero ✅
Funny moments from the kids ✅

Plus more of course! This time the gang, consisting of Finlay, Vero, the kids, finlays mom & steven, take a road trip to Atlantic City for reasons (at this point idk what is considered spoilers!) just know they get themselves into some wacky sinceros & have to find creative ways to get out alive! At this point in the series, it’s just fun! I mean is it realistic, probably not. But will you have a silly fun time? Yes! I love this series & I’ll always be excited for the next one!

Thank you Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the ARC.

This series just keeps getting better. This was a fun read. As with all the others in the series, our hero ends up in situations that are partly her doing and partly nothing to do with her: trouble just finds her! The location of this trouble is in Atlantic City where Finlay and Vero are hot on the heels of the stolen Aston Martin from "Jumps the Gun". In tow with them are Finlay's mother who is excited at the prospect of what was meant to be their cover story - a girl's weekend. Also along for the ride are the kids and the ex-husband. Steven stubbornly asserting that Finlay cannot take them out of state unless she has his permission. The negotiations ended up with him coming as well. Thankfully Steven gets told what's what in this book. I don't know what has made me roll my eyes more about his character: the character himself or Finlay's endless patience with him.

Hot Cop of course features a lot as does Finlay's sister, Georgia and her new girlfriend. And a dog with the best name ever....

A solid five star read for me.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice picks off where the last book ended. The dynamic duo is at it again in road trip fashion. However, as this is the fourth book in the series, it's starting to get a bit repetitive. I still thoroughly enjoyed it. This book ended in a cling hanger so I think we will have more adventures with Finlay and Vero .

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC!

I am still going strong with Finlay Donovan. In the newest installment, Finlay Donovan Rolls The Dice, we are back right where the last book ended. Now Finlay and Vero are headed to Atlantic City to continue to assert themselves in mob crimes and to find Javi and the missing Aston Martin. The slapstick is back. The absurdity is back. The quirky cast of characters is back. The heads scratching wondering when Finlay is actually taking care of her kids is back. But life is stressful and sometimes you need to suspend reality and live in the absurdity for pure entertainment. A good laugh does wonders.

The fourth installment in Elle Cosimano’s delightful caper about a suspense author caught up in a real life murder-for-hire, mob-involved mess is a return to form for this series, after a slightly disappointing third book.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice picks up right where the previous one left off, with Finlay, Vero and the gang find themselves headed to Atlantic City to rescue Vero’s childhood love Javi, who’s been kidnapped (in the trunk of a stolen Aston Martin) over the $200 grand she owes him. They find themselves pursued by Hot Detective Nick, fresh off his and Finlay’s first real night together, along with dirty cop Charlie, Finn’s sister Georgia, and practically the whole police department as they’ve received a tip that Russian mob boss Feliks Zhirov is coming back from Brazil and heading to Atlantic City too. Of course, no sooner do they check in, dead bodies start inconveniently popping up. What follows is an absolute blast – Finn desperately trying to keep all the plates spinning to keep Nick from learning the truth, help Vero track down Javi, solve several murders, all while trying to get her jealous ex to keep from losing their kids in a casino, keep her mom from catching more than glitter at a strip club, and hacker kid Cam from completely blowing their cover.

This very well could have been the final Finlay Donovan book – nearly all the major plot points from the series are wrapped up in satisfying ways, but several key mysteries remain unresolved (and there’s a whopper of a cliffhanger at the end). Cosimano is as adept as Finn at keeping a lot of balls in the air, rarely dropping one. The whodunnit wasn’t especially exciting here, but rather creates a backdrop for some hilarious (and gross) scene and raises the stakes for Finn and co., while allowing us to pay more attention to how the longer and more emotionally resonant plots unfold. Still, Finn and Nick’s relationship took a back seat to the hijinks in this one, so here’s hoping the next in the series finally answers the question that’s hung over their relationship the entire time: What happens when Nick finally learns the truth?

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Finlay Donovan series is outlandish, ridiculously plotted, and oh so much fun!

Don't start with book 4. Go back to book 1 (Finlay Donovan is Killing It) and read your way to the delightful end of the series. Finlay and her sidekick Vero have some massive criminal secrets to hide (along with the dead bodies buried at Finlay's ex-husbands farm). But their problems only get more complicated as they try to outmaneuver an Atlantic City loan shark and a Russian mob boss.

As they dodge and duck the enforcers and hit men sent to collect, they also need to tend to Finlay's small children, her aging parents, and their extremely complicated love lives.

Suspend belief for a few hours and road trip with Finlay Donovan and company. You won't regret it!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Book four picks up right where book three left off. Nick and Finlay are starting off with a fresh relationship after all the chaos at the police academy. Vero's man friend has been kidnapped and her only goal is getting him back. Vero and Finlay, the dynamic duo, take off to Atlantic City to try to find him. The only problem is Finlay's Ex husband, mom and kids are joining them.

Finlay and Vero dive right in when they get to Atlantic City only to find the investigation from back home has followed them. Nick is trying to keep Finlay safe with a “babysitter” at all times, but that is only ruining her own investigation. Of course, all they find is more trouble and more dead bodies.

Review
I love Nick and Finlays chemistry and how it has built up over the last four books. In Finlay Donovan Roll’s the Dice, we get to dive into Vero's past a little more and understand her relationship with Javi. I loved how fast paced this book was and how it kept me on my toes. I switched back and forth between the audiobook and the ebook because I had to know what was going to happen next and couldn’t let driving, dishes and laundry get in the way.

It was fun to get to know Finlay’s ex-husband a little more even though he was terrible and have more interactions with her mom. It added another layer to the series that I didn’t even know was missing. One of my favorite parts was the dog, Kevin Bacon (If you know, you know). Even the bad guys were fun.

While I thought the series would be ending with book four, I was mistaken considering that cliffhanger at the end.
