Finlay and Vero on a road trip! Plus…. Basically everyone else.

This one picks up right where it left off with Finlay and Vero headed out to rescue Javi. This was definitely the silliest and most chaotic Finlay read yet. How much trouble can she get into without being caught?

My favorite part of this book was the relationship between Finlay and Vero. So much more than mom and the nanny, they are family.

Although all have been wild, this one felt a little too wild to me. I’m hoping book 4 will have some answers about what Steven is hiding!

Yet another cliffhanger, what is going on with Mrs. Haggerty?!

Finlay and Vero are back and this time even crazier than ever! In Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, we find them in Atlantic City along with Finlay's mom, kids, her ex-husband, sister, hot cop Nick, and a whole slew of other suspects and characters. Just when I thought Finlay and Vero couldn't get into more trouble, Cosimano comes up with the 4th book in the series and proves me wrong! The antics these ladies get into had me laughing out loud throughout. The storyline was a bit far-fetched, but I think that's the fun of this series.

I love this series on audiobook, so I decided to listen to this one as well. Angela Dawe is a fantastic narrator and can do different voices and accents so well. She brings the humor to this story, but also the emotions in the moments Finlay isn't getting herself in trouble. There are a lot of characters in this book, and that was my biggest issue with the audiobook because it was hard to keep track of who was who. I would recommend listening to this book though.

This series is perfect for anyone who loves a good mystery, but not the seriousness of a thriller. It has humor and heart in it, and it was just what I needed when I was feeling a little bit of thriller overload!

In the fourth installment of the FInlay Donovan series, we meet our favorite dysfunctional heroes right where the third story left off. Cosimano mixes suspense, humor and tender moments together as we follow FInlay and Vero try to get out of the tangled web they have woven throughout the series. If you love these characters and are eager to see how this story progresses, then you will not be disappointed.

I will say that I am interested to see how long this story will go for. It seems like once things are wrapped up, something else pops up, and things get complicated and messy again. I would like to see some closure for some characters and their storylines, which is not to say that these characters go away, but I think four books in, all the characters don't seem to have much growth.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Finlay Donovan is back in the fourth installment of Elle Cosimano's comedic mystery series and this time, she and Vero, her trusty nanny/partner-in-crime, are hitting the road to Atlantic City to try to rescue Vero's ex, Javi (you can get their backstory in the fun novella, 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗥𝘂𝗶𝘇 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸). With Finlay's mother, ex-husband and kiddos along for the ride and her cop boyfriend and sister showing up unexpectedly, plenty of hysterical hijinks ensue.

My one quibble is that with three previous books and a novella's worth of story to remember, I wish we got a cheat sheet at the beginning of this one to remind us of all of the characters and their relationships. But it's a small thing, and while you can't jump into this series cold, if you were ever a fan of Finlay, it's a safe bet you'll enjoy 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗟𝗔𝗬 𝗗𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗔𝗡 𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗘.

I always love a Finlay Donovan book and this one is no exception. I just love the trouble these main characters get into and how they get out of it. Just a quirky and fun read that never gets boring. Highly recommend the series. Definitely for fans of quirky female leads that are a hot mess, but somehow always come out on top.

This book started as unique and hilarious as always. Moreover we finally got our love stories! 🤌🏻 I loved the different setting in Atlantic City and the family dynamics (aka chaos). It was fast paced and the suspense was great because of all the unexpected accidents. Moreover, every character was unique and I could keep up with the story very well. However, I prefer the former volumes because of even bigger twists. Can’t wait to read the next volume!

This may be my second favorite book in the series so far, right behind the first one. I laughed a lot, but the storyline kept me on my toes. I absolutely love the writing style of Elle. I can’t wait for the next book. This book gets all 5 ⭐️! Go out and read it now 😊

Following the excitement at the civilian's police academy, Finlay and Vero need to get out of town. Under the guise of a girls' trip, they pack up the kids, Finlay's mom, and her ex-husband and head for Atlantic City. As in all Finlay Donovan books, there's been a murder (or two, or three), and Finlay and Vero have to figure out how to hide the details from Finlay's cop-boyfriend Nick, and make it clear that they were not the killers. It's a really fun addition to the series. As with Jumps the Gun, it's definitely best if read following the other three, but Elle Cosimano does a great job providing the reader with back-story without it feeling redundant. A hilarious action/mystery story.

Many thanks to St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book is finally out in the world!

Honestly, I love Finlay Donovan so much. I couldn't wait to read this one and it definitely did not disappoint. This pretty much what I excepted the third book to be but I know the author has a long commitment with this character so there will be some filler books in the mix. I swear the shenanigans get crazier than the last one. I also love how the author finds ways to include all the characters into the story. I originally wasn't thrilled about having Finlay's ex husband around but he ended up being not being a big part. It was fun having Finlay dunk on him and him having to take care of the kids while the shenanigans could ensue. I'm not sure what the next book is going to be about but I can't wait!

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the E-Book. Elle Cosimano does it again Finlay and Vero and their adventures did not disappoint. I love how Finlay is portrait as a Hot Mess mom because lets face it most of us fall into that category whether we admit it or not. Finlay is always a good time and a good read. I cant wait for the next one so I can devour it

I have loved every single Finlay Donovan book and Rolls The Dice was no different! I laughed so much! You truly never know what’s going to happen with them and it’s so entertaining to read. Finlay and Vero are an incredible pair and I am just obsessed with them. I can’t wait to read more!

Road trip with Findlay and Vero for this fourth book in the series. I should have read the first one before this one. But still really good.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the forth installment in @ellecosimano ‘s hilarious mystery series about a single mom- author turned mob assassin- amateur detective. I do believe this is my new favorite in this series!

It’s a wild ride as Finlay and Vero head to Atlantic City to rescue Vero’s ex boyfriend Javi. They wind up having to bring Finlay’s kids, her ex, and her mother in tow. Unfortunately, she and Vero’s propensity for finding dead bodies at just the wrong time also follows them.

I loved all four of these novels. Rolls the Dice finds the perfect mix of action and comedy as Finlay juggles the mess of getting unwittingly involved with the mob with her hot cop new boyfriend, who presents even more challenges to the mess, along with some well deserved romance.

Thank you St. Martin’s Press, NetGalley, and Elle Cosimano for the wonderful chance to read the latest adventure of Finlay Donovan. Oh my goodness, if you haven’t read these delightful books yet run to your nearest bookstore or library and dive in. Finlay Donovan and her crazy nanny Vero are heading for Atlantic City to rescue Javi, Vero’s boyfriend after he was kidnapped in their last escapade. These ladies have a fabulous way of finding trouble without even meaning to. It just literally falls in their laps. Between mafia bad guys, dirty cops, sexy cops, ex husband, children not to mention the rest of her family Finlay manages to still keep her cool and find a way to save the day with lots of laughter and love throughout the book. I look forward to reading more from Elle Cosimano and following Finlay and Vero on more exciting adventures.

Happy pub day to Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice by @ellecosimano! I’m not a series person, but this one has absolutely sucked me in and I look forward to my time with the characters every year.

It’s hard to talk about this one without giving away spoilers from other books, but I think I can safely say that Finlay and Vero need to go to Atlantic City to deal with Vero’s debt to a loan shark and save Vero’s childhood crush Javi, among other things. But when they lie and say they’re going for a girl’s weekend away—with the kids—Finlay’s ex-husband, Steven, and her mother insist on coming along which—not surprisingly—just makes everything more complicated.

I think with this series you’re in one of two camps. You love it or you don’t. If you love it, you’ll love this book as much as the other installments. It contains all the ridiculous situations you’re used to with Finlay and Vero, characters you’ve grown to love along the way , and, at its core, the kind of unbreakable female friendship that we should all be lucky enough to have—maybe without the bodies. Yes, there are more in this installment. And there’s romance in the air for more than one of the characters. I laughed through the entire book, and, as always, can’t wait for the next installment.

As someone who doesn’t remember details from books well a few months after I read them, let alone years later, I do wish there was a “previously with Finlay and Vero” bullet point section at the beginning. The author does a great job weaving past details into the narrative so I was never lost, but I would love something more overt. For example, I need to talk to someone about the cliff hanger ending because I’m not sure I remember enough to know if I’m supposed to know what going on.

Filled with so much action and misadventure! Finlay and Vero are on a quest-that takes them to Atlantic City. When they hit the road, they have a carload, including Finlay’s, mom and children and even her ex. At every turn, a new layer is peeled back adding to the complexity of the investigation. Finley is trying to juggle all of the relationships in her life from her mom to her ex to her new beau Nick. Her life sure has become complicated!
Packed with so many twists and surprises this one kept me turning pages quickly hoping to solve the mystery alongside the characters. I especially love how Finlay and Vero’s friendship has evolved and the way Finlay is growing as a character over the course of the series.

Fans of the Finlay Donovan series are going to just want more !!

Thank you to NetGalley, Minotaur Books, and Ms. Cosimano for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title. An honest review was requested but not required.

Frankly I was expecting this series to have jumped the shark. I mean honestly. How on EARTH can Finlay & Vero keep this breakneck pace up? I was predisposed to read this while rolling my eyes at the over-the-topness of it all.

And yet. I laughed OUT LOUD. Chapter 16? The "long arm of the law has arrived on the scene?" OMG. I laughed out loud, REALLY loud, at the debut of a certain "Officer".... in the middle of the gym while doing the elliptical. Detective Dolce and her partner, Detective Gabbana? *snort*. Chapter 26, when Finlay says she feels like she's watching a low-budget episode of Squid Games. Or Chapter 29's rant from Finlay's mom. (OK, Finlay's mom, I feel so seen! Our husbands are twins!). And I was so so happy for Javi.

My only real problem with these stories is Finlay's relationship with Nick. She is fully aware that lying is the biggest deal-breaker for him, but... her entire relationship with him is a lie and every word she says to him is another one. I'm really not sure how she intends to rectify that but I hope she can turn a new page moving forward. (And get some sleep, because seriously, girl got about 7 hours cumulatively during the whole girls trip weekend.)

Looking forward to seeing what happens with Mrs. Haggerty in the next one :)

Mystery??

This book came out today! You should get it!! My first ARC (advanced reader copy) and it did not disappoint.

This is the fourth book in the Finlay Donovan series. The books are a unique genre. They’re funny, suspenseful, thriller, romance, and fiction. The main character is a author who gets herself into some unusual situations with dead bodies, mob bosses, kidnapping, and a plethora of other outrageous situations. She raising to the occasion and figures it out sometimes in equally outrageous ways.

I loved the fourth one even more than the other 3 because you get to know the characters and you love them. Finlay Donvovan isn’t just a divorced mom of 2 and a struggling author. She’s a friend. She follows her heart. She does her best. She is an icon.

I am not saying the books are the same, but this series reminds me how I felt when I first read the Stephanie Plum series. I was new to audiobooks and they were just so easy to listen to and so entertaining. Already on book 4, this series feels like a comfort read/listen for me.

I’m not sure how Finlay and Vero have such bad luck, but this time they head to Atlantic City to track down Vero’s boyfriend Javi. Finlay’s Mom, ex-husband and two children tag along for the trip. They work to stay a step ahead of Finlay’s cop boyfriend and the bad guys.

Filled with humor as the pair wrestle with dead bodies, a dog named Kevin Bacon and try to stay alive and out of jail. I waffled between chuckling and shaking my head.

In addition to the antics I really like Finlay and Vero. I root for their poor decision making to turn out OK. And Nick, Finlay’s cop boyfriend, a little bit of a dream but I have to wonder how good of a cop he is to miss what is right in front of him.

Is this the most plausible storyline? Probably not to most people. But does the entertainment factor outweigh the lack of plausibility? Definitely. It’s a fun caper that I enjoyed from start to finish.

Angela Dawe is a great choice of narrator. She brings a fresh energy to the narration and takes the story up a notch for me. While I like the story, I think being surrounded by the book makes me like it even more.

If you’d just like to take a break from life and escape, this book is a great choice to make that happen.
