When Finlay Donovan and Vero plan a girl’s weekend away aka find Vero’s boyfriend who has been kidnapped by a notorious loan shark, mayhem and hilarity ensue. Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the fourth in The Finlay Donovan series by Elle Cosimano and it’s just as full speed ahead, madcap fun as the previous books and I loved every wild and wacky minute of it.

Finlay and Vero, as always, find themselves faced with one seemingly insurmountable and often laugh-out-loud funny challenge after another and must find a way through it while balancing Finlay’s kids, mother, ex-husband, and keeping her hot new FBI boyfriend from finding out whats really going on. The story is set mainly in Atlantic City and there is a scene in a strip club that, trust me, you do not want to be drinking anything while reading.

This is one rollicking good read with a great mystery, a terrific cast of characters, and non-stop entertainment and, if all that isn’t enough to make you want to pick it up, there’s a little dachshund named Kevin Bacon.

Thanks to Netgalley and St Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review

Elle Cosimano hits it out of the park again with the latest installment of Finlay and Vero wreaking havoc and solving crimes all at the same time. This duo crack me the hell up and I can't get enough of them! I can't wait for the next installment to come out - I need to find out where Vero & Javi's relationship ends up!!

A huge thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for gifting me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Happy pub day to Finlay, once again! If you're up to date on Finlay's story, you'll enjoy this latest installment for sure. Once again foolish yet humorous, Cosimano has delivered her likable character with an ever-expanding skill set. I would absolutely recommend starting at the beginning of this series. These characters attract trouble but it's entertaining all the way through. I did see that there's another book promised, and I'm not sure how much more steam Finlay has left for me, but for now I will continue to follow her along through these crazy antics with Vero by her side.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice by Elle Cosimano is the 4th in the series featuring Finlay and her nanny/accountant/co-conspirator, Vero. You absolutely must read the first three books of the series before heading into this one, as each book feeds off the earlier books. Book four is no exception, in which the opening pages start where book three left off.

Like the three previous books, we are entertained by an amusing cast of characters, ranging from the most loveable to the most diabolical. And there is even an adorable dog cast in this one. Mad-capped adventures ensue from the opening pages and continue right to the end. I breezed through this book and did not figure out the twist before Finlay and Vero. You will have to suspend some disbelief to work through the crazy adventures in this book, but that is a given with this series.

Read Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice if you enjoyed the three earlier books in this series, love a cozy mystery with a bit of romance and spice, like to cheer on strong female characters, and feel all the happy vibes when one of the side characters is a cute dog.

Side Note: I listened to the audio versions of the first 3 books, but read this 4th book on my Kindle. Having experienced this series in both formats I lean towards the audio version because Finlay’s and Vero’s voices really shine through the narrator. That being said, both versions are a fun romp, so choose your reading as you prefer it.

I am so lucky to have received ARCs for this entire series! I am also so happy with the outcome of this one. I loved the first two but didn't care as much for the third. I would say Elle is back on track with this one! I wasn't too sure about the plot after reading the synopsis, but I ended up enjoying it. Elle continues to write funny stories with a wide range of characters but with such a mysterious plot. I really haven't read anything like this series before. Specifically speaking to Rolls the Dice, I really liked that ALL of the characters were involved with this one. I truly do enjoy majority of her characters and so I liked that all of them came along for the ride in this one. I mean there were just so many laugh out loud funny moments. I am definitely excited for what is to come in the next one!

Thank you to NetGalley & St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books for the opportunity to read Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice by Elle Cosimano in exchange for my honest review.

I’m a sucker for Finlay Donovan adventures and Rolls the Dice might be my favorite one so far.
In book 4 Finlay, Vero, and way too many others head to Atlantic City to save Javi who was kidnapped at the end of book 3. Rolls the Dice picks up where book 3 ended and we’re tossed back into the chaos that is Finaly’s life.

I don’t want to spoil any of the previous books or anything that happens in this one but shocker the ridiculous chaos kicks it up even higher when almost the whole crew ends up in a seedy hotel in Atlantic City. I know not everyone enjoys the absurdness that is Finlay Donovan, but honestly, I love it. I’m not always good at fully buying into outlandish scenarios but I’m always up for more of Finlay and Vero’s escapades. Cosimano’s ability to marry mystery and comedy is remarkable. It’s the characters. Cosimano’s characters are so believable and real that I will follow them wherever they go.

What really got me excited was the ending to book 4 and the curious setup to book 5 which seems to be taking a turn and featuring an unexpected character who was absent from almost all of Rolls the Dice. If you’re up for a mystery with strong female friendship and some laughs I highly recommend you pick up Rolls the Dice, but make sure you start from with book one, it’s worth the ride.

Finlay & Vero’s adventures start right where we left off in book three and they don’t stop until the final page. That’s what I love about this series, each book flows from one to the next and they are so easy to get immersed in and very hard to put down.

In Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, we find ourselves on a girl’s trip where Finlay’s kids, mom, ex-husband, new boyfriend and half of the police department tag along. While everyone thinks relaxation is the main reason for this trip, they have other plans. In typical Finlay & Vero fashion, nothing goes exactly how it’s supposed to and shenanigans ensue.

All the side characters really make this book shine and brings the laughs. I don’t know how Finlay & Vero keep getting into these messes but I am really happy to be along for the ride!

Read if you like:
▪️Female friendship
▪️Cop/criminal romance
▪️Cozy mysterys
▪️Road trips
▪️Action/Adventure

Thank you @minotaur_books for the #gifted ARC of FINLAY DONOVAN ROLLS THE DICE!

This book (and series) are so perfect if you’re looking for a fun bingeable series with twists and turns that keep your reading. Is it completely absurd and far-fetched? ABSOLUTELY. Does it matter? Absolutely not…. Reading is supposed to be fun!

ROLLS THE DICE picks up right where the prior book ended. Finlay and Vero are headed to Atlantic City on a rescue mission but are spinning it as a much needed girls weekend away. So of course that means Finlay’s kids, her mom and her ex are all along for the ride as well.

When their run-in with a loan shark leads to them finding dead bodies in a hotel room (seriously they have the worst luck!), Finlay and Vero are once again scrambling to get themselves out of a tangled mess that is bound to bring them down if they aren’t careful.

My postpartum brain loved how light and fun this book was. There were a few nights where I finished feeding the baby and was SO tempted to keep reading, sleep be damned!

I can’t wait for the next book in the series and to see what happens next!

This new installment in the Finlay Donovan series comes out on 3/5/2024!

Finlay and Vero are at it again. This time their "innocent" capers take them to Atlantic City in search for Vero's old friend. In true style the trip is beyond hilariously ridiculous including all our favorite characters: Steven, the kids, Finlay's mom and sister, and of course hot cop Nick. If you are asking what could possibly go wrong then you haven't read a Finlay Donovan book before :-)

I recommend reading the first four books in series first. Can't wait for book 5!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the 4th main book in the Finlay Donovan series. (There is also a short novella out there focusing on Vero.) And while I may have said in other reviews that the other books could easily be read as standalones, with this one I’d definitely recommend at least reading the previous book (if not the entire series) before jumping into this one. And that is one of the reasons I find this one hard to review. I’d rather not spoil what leads up to this story. So, doing my best to avoid spoilers, this time around our dynamic duo of Finlay and Vero are planning a weekend trip to Atlantic City for … well ‘reasons’ (wink wink) but before can get away, some extra baggage gets added as the trip suddenly becomes a family trip, exponentially complicating things. I know I’ve said it before but this series has a similar vibe to Evanovich’s Stephine Plume series. Wildly unique characters, zany over the top antics, and plenty of moments that will make you laugh. This is the perfect series to read when you really just want shut out the real world and take a break from reality. I’d like to thank St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an eARC of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice.

Thank you to @minotaur_books and @macmillan.audio for the early copies of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice! This book hits shelves TODAY!!!

I was so excited to get my hands on an early copy of Elle Cosimano’s fourth (and a half) installment of her Finlay Donovan series! This may have been the most outlandish and far-fetched adventure of Finlay and Vero yet…. But I still had a great time reading! That’s what I love most about this series. You’re going to have a good time reading, no matter what sort of jam Finlay and Vero end up in. Can’t wait for more!!!

I have read, loved and reviewed the previous three books in this series so I was thrilled to read this ARC. Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is not my favorite. When the series began she was recently divorced and trying to take care of twins while writing a mystery. Somehow she’s become involved with the Russian mob, ruined expensive cars, become involved in kidnappings and more. If there is a literary example of “jumping the shark”, this is it. However, I still love Finlay. I’d like to see her problems simplified. Maybe her novel about some past adventures could be sold to Hollywood as a movie or a series. Take attention away from the crazies and back on Finlay. It could work. 3 stars.

These get more and more ridiculous as each book is released but I still eat them all up!! This book happens over the span of a long weekend, which is hard to fathom given how much goes on! When do these people sleep?! It was messy, funny, entertaining and silly. Extremely low stakes “cozy mystery” with romance, friendship and family.

I ADORE this series. It hooks me in every time and the humor is so perfect throughout. I was so excited to see the third book ended in a cliffhanger and this book was everything I wanted it to be. Vero. Javi. Finlay. Nick. Charlie. Cam. All of them. Makes for a wild ride with twists and turns I never see coming. Definitely pick this one up! One of my most anticipated ARCs of the year and it does not disappoint!

I received an advance review copy for free via Netgalley (THANK YOU) and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Finlay is such a relatable character, and I love Vero too! The plot is so much fun even if it's not completely realistic, and the author's light tone and writing style is a great break from the heavier things I've been reading lately.

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice by Elle Cosimo

In another fun romp with Finn and her trusty sidekick Vero, the girls take readers through many casinos and hotels in Atlantic City. A whole gang gathers on this misadventure, including Finn’s new policeman boyfriend, family members and a full cast of characters which adds to the confusion and excitement.

Vero’s love interest Javi is missing and a ransom note is received. Bad people are involved, which stops Finn and Vero not at all. Lots of sneaking off, drinks and shenanigans fill the pages. Showing no fear, the ladies go about their sleuthing without a care.

I give this St Martin’s Press book by Elle Cosimo a solid four stars and suggest it for any reader who likes light hearted humorous mysteries. This one checks the boxes.
