This is another highly entertaining entry into the Finlay Donovan universe, and it’s just as full of hilarious hijinks and misadventures! As usual, I loved Finlay and Vero, and hated Steven 😂 if you’re like me and have the memory of a goldfish, I would recommend finding and reading a summary of the last few books, because this one picks up right where we left off in Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun. I did get briefly lost a couple of times as far as who a character was or what was happening, but it didn’t really bother me. I was surprised by the ending, and I’m excited to see what happens next!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the opportunity to read before pub day on March 5th!

Thank you @minotaur_books for the gifted digital ARC.
Finlay Donovan and her sidekick Vero are two of my favorite crime-fighting friends. These two always find murder and mayhem. They are also hilarious!
This is book four of the series, and I didn’t think I could love Finlay and Vero more than I already did. But this time, it’s about friends and family - a lot of family - in close proximity.
Finlay and Vero are headed to Atlantic City to save Javi, Vero’s childhood crush, and search for a stolen car - claiming it off as a “girl's weekend.” Yet suddenly, they find Finlay’s two small kids, her mother, and her ex-husband are all coming with them.
Of course, Finlay and Vero find trouble - dead bodies in a hotel suite. As the cops arrive, one is Finlay’s hot cop boyfriend; it only adds to the family circus.
Finlay never disappoints, and I loved all the crazy family chaos in this installment. There are a lot of wild antics, and the mystery is entertaining, too. I think I say this every time, but oh, to have a friend like Vero.
🎧I loved pairing my reading experience with the audiobook; the production was amazing. Thank you @macmillan.audio for the gifted audiobook.
Thank you Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 4th book in the series, and it cannot be read as a standalone. The author does a good job of supplying a brief recap. But I finished the 3rd book last month and I was struggling a bit with all the characters’ names. Do a quick internet search to review all the characters before diving into this story.
The same hilarity ensues again for Vero and Finlay, they are always in over their heads. Anything that can go wrong for them always seems to happen.
I enjoyed the just desserts that were served to Finlay’s ex-husband. He is such an awful person, and the author tries to have a bit of a redemption arc. But this reader wants none of it. He can stay on my crap list.
Mystery and comedy are this authors strong points and it always keeps me coming back for more. She knows how to have a perfect marriage of the two and keeps the plot moving at a steady pace.
The plot seems fairly predictable and follows the same format as her previous books. But if it’s working and enjoyable then keep the stories rolling.
Once again it ends on a cliffhanger, and I can’t wait for the next book to come out!

🛑Read on with caution; review may contain spoilers🛑
Although Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice did not lack the humor it had since the first book, this latest installment to the series just got more ridiculous with lots and lots of coincidences, which did not make Finlay and Vero’s detective work in Atlantic City believable. Their adventures are already quite repetitive and silly despite the hilarity of the situations they find themselves in.
What I did find redeeming with this book are its characters and I’m still looking forward to seeing them in the next book/s, especially with Javi who seems he will be having much more presence in Vero’s life with the events that happened in Atlantic City. I’m also looking forward to Nick and Finn’s blossoming romance, although I still feel like there’s something lacking with their relationship; probably because she hasn’t laid out all that has happened the past couple of months to him, seeming like she doesn’t trust him fully yet.
Another funny, crazy romp with Finlay and Vero as they head to Atlantic City. This series reminds me of the Evanovich series, filled with humor, sex and crime solving. Vero and Finlay have to find the car that was stolen and used to abduct Javi, Vero’s childhood crush. As they get mixed up in more murders and mayhem, they are dealing with Finlay’s mother, ex husband, kids and her love interest , Nick. Recommended. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
Thank you Minotaur Books & NetGalley for the ARC!
Finlay Donovan is a series I’ve been reading for a while now, and it’s always been a lighthearted escape. However, I’’m getting worried about Finlay’s deep involvement in different crimes! 😂 For someone who keeps finding herself in these wild scenarios, she doesn’t seem to help herself very much. I am looking forward to seeing how this series ends, and let’s just say I’ll be shocked if this woman doesn’t get jail time. 😆
Thank you again for the ARC!
In the fourth installment of single mom turned assassin for hire, Finlay and Vero head to Atlantic City for the rescue mission of a lifetime.
After their secret mission turns into a family vacation and a body turns up, Finlay must dodge her nosy ex-husband, her mother, and half of her local police department. As she ventures deeper into the seedy world of mob bosses, will Finlay’s gamble pay off, or will her luck finally run out?
After the intense cliffhanger of book three, I needed to get my hands on the sequel immediately. The characters in this series are so lovable and I can’t help but root for them. It was really nice to learn a little more about Vero’s past. I also really loved the interactions between Finlay and her “coworkers”. Finlay is an expert at making terrible decisions that miraculously work out well, and I eat it up every time. While I was initially skeptical about the new setting, I really enjoyed how the Atlantic City trip forced so many side characters together.
This was a great continuation of a heartwarming series. While I would have liked to learn more about Stephen’s past, almost all of the other loose ends were wrapped up nicely. There are apparently more books to come and while I don’t know where else the series can go, I do know that I will be eagerly awaiting their releases.
I would highly recommend this book for anyone who has finished Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun. For anyone who hasn’t started this series yet, but enjoys hilarious mysteries with lovable characters, I strongly suggest putting it at the top of your TBR list.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

4/5 high rollers
Finlay and Vero are taking their shenanigans on the road as they try to sort out the unfolding series of unfortunate events in this latest in the Finlay Donovan series. Similar to the previous books, this duo stumbles upon one outrageous event after another and use their wits and a fair amount of lucky breaks to press ahead. Their hasty Atlantic City getaway almost immediately finds them surrounded by the whole gang of characters from plus a few new ones. Several laugh out loud moments as well as some not-quite-believable ones. Still, I'm a fan.

I love this series so much! Finlay Donovan somehow manages to get into the wildest situations with murders, mob bosses, loan sharks, hackers, and dirty cops and still accidentally manages to escape and solve the mystery! I love that in this book, she has gotten better at sneaking around and is actually able to solve a lot of the mystery on her own instead of just stumbling onto the answers like in the previous few books! It is an action-packed book while keeping its light and fun vibes, and the romance is sweet and tension-filled (while still being a closed-door book). I love the characters and enjoyed seeing them grow even more in this book! I also love that it didn't end on a major cliffhanger for the first time since the beginning of the series, but it still opened a new mystery for the next book! I adore this series and can't wait for the next book!
Thank you to Netgalley and Minotaur Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Another fantastic misadventure for Finlay! I’d say this be ranks up there with the second book (#1 was by far my favorite; #3 coming in behind the lot). Still lots of hijinx, suspense, and humor. I selfishly wanted more romance for Finlay during this book, but boy was it action-packed.
I just love this entire series so much. The books are never not funny. I have legit laughed my ass off while reading every single one, they’re so much fun. Case in point- a Doxie pup named Kevin Bacon causing all kinds of confusion because of his name. I love that this all happened because a mom was in the wrong place at the wrong time, someone thought she was a fixer meeting up with her to kill her husband and everything just snowballed from there. Finlay and Vero are seriously bff goals- they have each others back no matter what and will do anything to protect the other. Nick is dreamy, hot cop bf goals and I need more of him. Steven is still trash and I just know he’s hiding something big from Finlay that’s going to end up being another huge issue. Hopefully we find out in the next one since the end was set up for 5th book potential. Honestly, bring it on because I will never get tired of this series.
inlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the 4th book in the series and quite possibly the funniest.
"Finlay and Vero head to Atlantic City to find Javi, Vero's childhood crush, deal with Vero's massive debt with a loan shark and find the missing car. It started as a Girl's weekend, but ex-husband Steven demands to go with the kids and Finlay's mom tags along and drives everyone in her minivan.
Mayhem ensues!"
Finlay is just a regular single mom, trying to take care of her kids, write her books and find some romance along the way. Cosimano puts her in crazy situations where she always seems to find a way to escape the worst-case circumstances. The scene at Chubby's with Steel Johnson and Finlay's mom was hilarious. I was laughing so hard I almost wrecked the car. I know Cosimano had fun writing the scene in Hectpr's garage. And Steven is still an idiot.
Cosimano keeps the tension high with everything that happens and makes us laugh along the way. Another great Finlay Donovan story.
My thanks for the ARC goes to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books. I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
Genre: Mystery, Thriller, Humor
Subgenre: Romance
Readability: This is number 4 in the series. Do yourself a favor and read them in order! Each one's plot is dependent on the previous novel.
Spice Level: Yes—you're going to get some steam in this one
This is the perfect book when you want a feel-good, silly, uproarious time with a book. You've got the cozy mystery vibes, shenanigans with the badies, and some romance. Another thing that is done well in this series is women's friendship. It's great to see women working together.
It's kind of like reading a comic book because everything is larger than life. Sure it's far-fetched, but so is Batman and Thor—just strap yourself into your seatbelt (preferably inside an Aston Martin) and enjoy the ride.
Happy reading!
This was the perfect way to cap off the Finlay Donovan series. Finlay, Vero and the gang hit the road to Atlantic City in this comedy of errors. Finlay is in over her head and she and Vero are attempting to rescue Vero's boyfriend Javi who has become tangled up in a web of crimes. You've got the Russian mobs, crooked loan sharks, a stolen car, a crooked cop, murder, etc.
"If Finlay can juggle a jealous ex-husband, two precocious kids, her mother’s marital issues, a decomposing loan shark, and find Vero’s missing boyfriend, she might get out of Atlantic City in one piece. But will she fold under the pressure and come clean about the things she’s done, or be forced to double down?"
This Finlay Donovan series is just plain fun. It's a little far fetched at times, but in the best possible way. I love that the series takes place near my home and that there is even a couple shout outs to my town in the book. Better yet, I've done the sketchy hotel in Atlantic City thing and I can picture this setting so perfectly for the book. Definitely start at the beginning of the series if you haven't read these yet.
Glad to see Finlay and Vero again!!! The newest adventure did not disappoint. I felt that the bond between Vero and Finlay was good. There wasn't a whole lot of interaction with her and Nick, and Steven felt like an afterthought. But I laughed and enjoyed the ride in want taken on.
The Finlay Donovan series has been such a fun series to be a part of. Picking up right where Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun leaves off, and takes Finlay, Vera, and the crew straight to Atlantic city. As with all of these books, it’s ridiculous and over the top in all the best ways.
In Finaly Donovan Rolls the Dice, I felt we got quite a bit more of a mystery than some of the previous books. We definitely get more romance between Finlay and Nick this time around, which I love. While we do get answers to quite a few loose ends from Book 3, I felt that this book didn’t really ‘solve’ anything for me. I was hoping we’d get more about Vera’s college problem. So, while Vera has a much bigger role in this book, I still felt we were missing something. I’m sure Cosimano is going to get into those pieces in the next installment, but after reading Veronica Ruize Breaks the Break, I’m just ready to get the full backstory and a resolution for her college issues.
I always find these to be such a palate cleanser and while I thought it needed a little something extra, it was still an enjoyable and quick read. If you love outlandish crimes and a good laugh, this is the perfect series for you.
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, comes out March 5, 2024. Huge thank you to Minotaur Books for my advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion. If you liked this review, please let me know either by commenting below or by visiting my instagram @speakingof.books.
Finlay Donovan and her nanny/partner-in-crime Vero are in sore need of a girls’ weekend away. They plan a trip to Atlantic City, but odds are―seeing as it’s actually a cover story to negotiate a deal with a dangerous loan shark, save Vero’s childhood crush Javi, and hunt down a stolen car―it won’t be all fun and games. When Finlay’s ex-husband Steven and her mother insist on tagging along too, Finlay and Vero suddenly have a few too many meddlesome passengers along for the ride. Within hours of arriving in their seedy casino hotel, it becomes clear their rescue mission is going to be a bust. Javi’s kidnapper, Marco, refuses to negotiate, demanding payment in full in exchange for Javi’s life. But that’s not all―he insists on knowing the whereabouts of his missing nephew, Ike, who mysteriously disappeared. Unable to confess what really happened to Ike, Finlay and Vero are forced to come up with a new plan: sleuth out the location of Javi and the Aston Martin, then steal them both back. But when they sneak into the loan shark’s suite to search for clues, they find more than they bargained for―Marco's already dead. They don’t have a clue who murdered him, only that they themselves have a very convincing motive. Then four members of the police department unexpectedly show up in town, also looking for Ike―and after Finlay's night with hot cop Nick at the police academy, he’s a little too eager to keep her close to his side. If Finlay can juggle a jealous ex-husband, two precocious kids, her mother’s marital issues, a decomposing loan shark, and find Vero’s missing boyfriend, she might get out of Atlantic City in one piece. But will she fold under the pressure and come clean about the things she’s done, or be forced to double down?
You know when Finlay and Vero are together a fun story is going to play out. I enjoyed this book. The story holds up to the other 3 books. It's chaotic and a little far-fetched, but also a fun easy read. With that being said, I am also ready for the series to end. I don't know if this is the last one, or if they are still waiting to reveal who Easy Clean was and what Steven's involvement in all of this is, but I am ready to get everything spelled out!
Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review. This book releases 3/5
Elle Cosimano does it AGAIN! We return to Finlay and Vero where they left off- on the hunt for Javi and their car! This novel takes us to Atlantic City with ALL of our favorite characters on a crazy adventure to pay off Vero’s debt, save her childhood friend, and keep Nick from suspecting any wrongdoing from Finlay. This entire novel kept me on my toes with so many twists and turns, events to remember in the whole story since book one, and plenty of laughs from Vero’s witty commentary. The novel ends on a new and completely unexpected cliffhanger, just after it seems like everything is cleaned up for our heroines. Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Publishing for this advanced copy!
I’ve read Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series for YEARS, so when I discovered Finlay Donovan I quickly fell in love. This fourth book was just as good!
I love that this book picks up right where the third leaves off so there’s no confusion. Everything kicks off with a bang which is satisfying, because the third book ended on such a cliffhanger.
You do sort of have to suspend belief to read these books, but I don’t find that to detract from the enjoyment of books at all. They’re full of lighthearted humor, suspenseful action, and sprinkled with heartfelt moments of sweetness.
You also really get to see more of Vero, and in turn Javi, in this one, which was welcome for me. I’m excited to read her novella, which is technically 3.5 in the series.
My love for Elle Cosimano and Finlay along with her crew absolutely continues with this book. I can’t wait to see what comes next for them all.
Thank you to NetGalley, Minotaur books, and the author for this ARC.
