I absolutely love the Finlay Donovan series, and I’m so glad I was finally able to read the fourth one. They truly are so much fun!
Book 4 included all of the things I love most about the Finlay books. It’s got funny moments, heartwarming scenes, and lovable characters. I wish there had been a little bit more at the beginning to remind me of what all happened in the other books. I have terrible memory for details and, even though I could remember the big plot points from the last one, I struggled to remember some of the characters. Additionally, I did find some parts slightly too absurd. Although the third book is still my favorite in the series, I thought it was so much fun.
Thank you as always to Minotaur books and Sarah Melnick for providing me with an advanced E galley and a finish copy of this book. I love being kept in this loop because I love Finley and all the books Elle Casimo has given her readers. I also purchased the audiobook and it was my first listen while Angela has narrated all the books and done outstanding job. I have to admit the voice didn’t go with the images. I’ve built a Finley and Vero isn’t it funny how we build these characters? This book jumps right in from the last one and it’s fast paced right in Atlantic City casinos and crime bosses in their minions of course there’s a dead body or two. I love the pace and the story and the crazy situation and Finley and Vero get into. I love how the relationship with Knick is progressing too. The recommend if you’re a fan of this series and if you’re not at the beginning and pick up book one, Finley Donovan is killing it 4.5 stars
I love the Finlay Donovan series, and this one was no exception! Still the same lovable characters and laugh out loud moments that you’ve come to expect. Loved this latest installment!
Probably my favorite Finley Donovan book in the series so far!! Full of crazy antics, humor and finally some romance! Absolutely a delightful read!
Probably my least favorite of the series, yet still fun to read! I fell in love with Finlay and looked forward to her next thing, this just felt a little rushed. It was still a consistent, enjoyable story.
Every series hits a point where things get mid, and that’s what happened here. Maybe it was all the digs at New Jersey, but this one was just fine. I still really love the characters in this world, and I’m looking forward to continuing the series.
This book has everything. Dead bodies, assless chaps, Kevin Bacon, wigs, a tiny psychic, mob bosses, explosions, and did I mention Kevin Bacon?
Yet another book where Finlay stressed me out from cover to cover. 😮💨
I always enjoy a Finlay book!!!! This one was just as good. A road trip, all of the antics and laugh out loud funny. I can't wait for the next one. It's a cozy funny series for me and I look forward to more!
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the fourth title in the Finlay Donovan series and just like the others, it's full of wild hijinks, crime, laughs, and steamy romance. In the latest book, Finlay and Vero plan a girl’s weekend to Atlantic City to save Vero's childhood best friend after he's kidnapped. What was supposed to be the two of them quickly turns into them, Finlay's kids, her mother and her ex-husband. Let's just say chaos ensues.
What can I say? I laughed hard. I was surprised. I couldn't stop turning the pages. It's another great book in this series. I'm already looking forward to book #5! If you haven't checked out this series yet, do so. It's unique and a whole lot of fun!
Thank you, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
4.5/5 stars
The Finlay Donovan series is always a fun and easy read for me. This one was just as funny and entertaining as the others in the series.
Finlay Donovan is back!! I was hesitant to read this after reading the third book as it fell flat for me, but I’m so glad I did! The humor in this was impeccable, and I found myself rooting for the demise of certain characters more than I would like to admit. The characters genuinely feel like real people. At this point, I feel like I know them all personally. If you’re looking for an easy read that will have you laugh out loud, this is the one!
This series will never not be fun! How Cosimano is brainstorming these wild and outlandish yet reasonable predicaments Finlay and Vero find themselves in have me grinning from ear to ear.
I flipped back and forth between my kindle and audiobook and must say I love the narration. If you’re willing and able, I recommend going the audiobook route! It’s an easy listen and the time just flies.
I loved the pacing of this story. It kept me on my toes with the action, mystery, and humor. At this point, this series is an auto-read for me because I’m so invested in Finlay and Vero’s drama. I’m super stoked for this next installment!
If you’re looking for a fun and wild series, this is for you. I’d definitely consider these books palate cleansers.
Big thank you to Netgalley, Minotaur books, and Macmillan audio for the advanced copies.
Content warnings: murder, gun violence, kidnapping
Loved this one as much as the rest of the series! This entire series would make an amazing Netflix series! 5-stars!
Finley Donovan is at it again, these books are always fun and fast paced with a few laughs. I like how they always end on a cliffhanger so you know Finley and vero will be back.
This was such an improvement from the last installment! It was really nice to see some forward progress and close some storylines. As always, I enjoyed Finlay and Vero's dynamic. I'm looking forward to continuing on after that little cliffhanger!
This was such a fun book in the series! I love Finlay Donovan and Vero, and I'm always down for their shenanigans. I love, though, that Elle Cosimano always has me second guessing what I think about the supporting players...just when I think I have my mind made up about someone, she throws a curveball into play!
This plot was fun and flirty just like the previous books but still brought something new and interesting to the table. Wholeheartedly recommend, especially for fans of the series!
In fair warning, though, you do want to read this series in publication order. The books build on each other and are not intended as stand-alone reads!
A fun read that I was able to finish in about 3 sittings. While I enjoyed it, I was not like overly excited about picking this one up…. I felt myself wanting to move on to the next read. So while it was good, it is prob not one I will be buying.
Do these books keep getting better and better? This is my first thought upon reading this fourth installment in the Finlay Donovan series. While I see other reviews are suggesting the books are getting sillier and sillier, I have to disagree. When I pick up a book like this with such an outlandish premise, the plot needs to go hard and fast so that I don't even think about the logistics of what is happening. And that is what Elle Cosimano is able to do as this series progresses.
I love the intricacy of the story telling here—how Finlay Donovan can essentially be so interwoven into illegal activity without actually being a criminal. And now that there are four books worth of crime, it makes sense why Finlay has to start keeping her secrets, as it would simply be too complicated and confusing to unravel everything while still maintaining her innocence in the eyes of those she loves. Because of this, I am no longer experiencing any annoyance over the lack of communication.
All in all, this story is a delight, and I am rapt with expectation, waiting for the fifth book in the series!
Rating: 4.5 rounded up
Just not really into this series anymore. The first book was great and I really liked the second one but after that it just feels the same over and over again
This series has been one of my favorite series over the last few years. It has everything: the comedy, the romance, the suspense... I honestly am trying to think of something bad and the only thing I can think of is the cliffhanger we are usually left with. I have recommended this book to a variety of different readers and I have heard nothing but good things. I was nervous for this book since there seemed to be more to follow but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it was written. Finlay is such a unique character and I'm so interested to see how her life gets spun around in the next book!
