This installment of Finlay Donovan was so much fun. I laughed out loud and hoped for the best fo each of them. I really do enjoy this series.
Picking right up where book #3 left off! Finlay and her partner-in-crime Vero plan a girls' weekend in Atlantic City, but their cover story quickly unravels as they negotiate with a dangerous loan shark to save Vero's crush and retrieve a stolen car. With unwanted company in tow, including Finlay's ex-husband and mother, their rescue mission takes a deadly turn when they discover the loan shark dead. Now, Finlay and Vero must navigate a web of deceit, jealous exes, and suspicious police as they race to solve the mystery and escape Atlantic City alive.
I absolutely love this series! Each book is packed with outrageous humor that keeps me hooked from start to finish.
Thank you to Minotaur and NetGalley for the ARC! The Finlay Donovan series is one of my favorites and this entry did not disappoint! Finlay, Vero, and the extended crew are back again for more hilarious hijinks, this time in Atlantic City. This series is the perfect balance of mystery, humor and authenticity. I love the characters so much, and that sentiment doesn’t wane as the cast continues to grow.
This felt like somewhat of a conclusion to the current saga/prominent storyline but by no means a conclusion to the series. I loved the way things wrapped up and I’m beyond excited to see what Finlay, Vero and the gang get into next. This is a must read series, and this installment is excellent!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just when I think this series can’t get any better! Finlay Donovan is coming into her own for sure and I’m here for all of it! The friendship between Vero & Finlay is probably my favorite part of this whole series. Lots of great characters in this latest installment. Even Kevin Bacon!
Finlay and Vero are back at it. They are chasing mob bosses, raising kids and hiding bodies, all while finding some romance !! This was cute and enjoyable but not as good as the first 3 in the series. I give it 3.5 stars.
Thank you to Netgalley, St.
Martins Press / Minotaur books for the arc in exchange for my review.
I received the arc for this and omg I’m so happy I did! I love this series so much! That ending though 😳 I’m curious how this series will continue with that…
The Finlay Donovan books are my comfort reads. I know I’m going to laugh with old friends and watch them get into trouble. The books never fail to entertain the whole way through.
Now that I’m a seasoned Finlay fan, four books in, I feel like this review should be a little different. Instead of telling you what I loved about the book (everything!), I’m going to play a little word game. It’s a IFYKYK game. I’m just going to throw out some words associated with moments in, Finlay Donovan Rolls The Dice, and if you have read the book already you will laugh and get it. If you haven’t, then read the book so you can join the fun!!
🎲 Road trip, woobie, royal flush, mom, wigs, bathtub, rose hip oil, spider ring, Kevin Bacon, thumb drive, room service, Sylvia, Chubbies.
As always, Finlay Donovan is a delight.
This is the 4th book in the Finlay Donovan series. The story continues where it left off in book 3. There is a resolution but also a bit of an open ending allowing for a continuation in another book. While I loved the first book in the series I felt that all of the other ones fell short. I feel the same about this one. It just did not excite me. I love Finlay and Vero but it became a bit corny at times. I think I may be done with this series.
"'No! No, no, no, no,' I said, covering my eyes. 'There are not supposed to be any more dead guys! No more dead guys! It's only been ten days since the last one! Why does this keep happening?'"
In this latest installment from author Elle Cosimano, Finlay and the gang try their luck in Atlantic City, and, well, it wouldn't really be a Finlay Donovan novel if she and Vero didn't encounter any dead bodies, right? It seems like things just never go smoothly for them.
What an absolute blast! This one had me outright cackling. There are wacky antics, one-liners, and plenty of banter. Plus we get glimpses into the romantic relationships that started in earlier books.
I received an advance copy of the ebook from St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.
4 stars - Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice picks up from book 3. Finlay and her partner in crime, Vero decide to go on a girl's trip to Atlantic City because they need to find the stolen Aston Martin and Javi, Vero's childhood crush. Unexpectedly, Finlay's ex-husband and her mother also join the trip along with some surprise guests.
The book is just as funny and cheeky as the previous ones, with all the cool characters we know and love, plus some new ones. I really enjoyed the unexpected plot twists, and the book leaves off on a total cliffhanger, so I can hardly wait for the next one!
Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I have to admit that when the opportunity was presented to read an advanced copy of "Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice", I was so excited but yet a little apprehensive. I had been a big fan of the first three Finlay Donovan books but t have to unfortunately say that the last in the series was not my favorite. So set in my anxiety - if the third was not my favorite, how would the fourth be? Had my love for the beloved Finlay and Vero subsided? Would the series be ruined for me if I read on?
Ohhhh, was I wrong!!!
Elle Cusimano succeeded in what many authors can not. Continue a series into four major books (and a .5 backstory) and end up with number 4 being as good as the first if not possibly the best!!!! Almost every character plays a role in this installment, as we follow Finlay and Vero on a "girls trip" to Atlantic City, with the kids, Finn's mom and ex-husband in tow. As we know, there were many loose ends and business to take care of so I can assure there is plenty of action, close calls, hi jinx and for sure laughs. It is so hard to write a review on this one without giving any spoilers to the first three books but every absurd, open ended story lines all connect in such a fun way.
Just as I am sitting here writing this review, I hope Elle is writing the fifth installment which I will be waiting for with no apprehension. Thank you to Minotaur Books, St, Martins Press and NetGalley for the opportunity of reading the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
This book was so fun! I felt like the previous Finlay Donovan book (Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun) was lacking for me so was very happy when I read this new one in the series. The setting of Atlantic City fit the chaotic vibes perfectly and was full of big money, casinos, and even an adorable dog named Kevin Bacon. I also loved how some of the previous storylines came to a nice conclusion but the ending also made me excited for the next book in the series!
Elle Cosimano's latest installment in the Finlay Donovan series, Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice, is a rollercoaster of a read from start to finish. Picking up where the previous book left off, this novel plunges readers back into the chaotic yet endearing world of Finlay Donovan and her unconventional partner-in-crime, Vero.
In desperate need of a break, Finlay and Vero concoct a plan for a girls' weekend getaway to Atlantic City. However, as with anything involving Finlay, things quickly escalate into a high-stakes adventure. What begins as a cover story for a negotiation with a dangerous loan shark soon morphs into a mission to save Vero's childhood crush and recover a stolen car. With Finlay's ex-husband Steven and her meddling mother in tow, the trip becomes even more complicated, adding layers of tension and humor to the narrative.
Cosimano masterfully blends elements of mystery, suspense, and humor, creating a gripping storyline that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The dynamic between Finlay and Vero continues to be the heart of the series, with their witty banter and unwavering loyalty to each other providing both entertainment and depth to the narrative.
What sets Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice apart is its ability to balance pulse-pounding action with moments of genuine emotion and humor. Despite the high-stakes situations, Cosimano infuses the story with lighthearted moments and clever dialogue that keep the tone engaging and the characters relatable.
Additionally, the ensemble cast of characters adds richness to the story, with each member bringing their own quirks and complexities to the table. From Finlay's exasperating ex-husband to Vero's charmingly inept love interest, every character feels fully realized and contributes to the overall enjoyment of the novel.
Overall, Finlay Donovan #4 is a captivating addition to the series that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the next installment. Elle Cosimano has once again proven herself to be a master of the genre, delivering a thrilling and thoroughly entertaining read that is sure to delight fans of mystery and comedy alike.
This book is the fourth book in the Finlay Donovan series. This book picks up where the last book left off. Finlay and Vero are at it again. This time in Atlantic City. This story is action packed with many hilarious moments. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/Minotaur Books for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.
“Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice” is filled with action packed thrills.
The story picks up seamlessly from installment #3, “Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun”. Finlay and Vero are going on a girls trip to Atlantic City. But instead of endless gambling, the two are on a mission to find a stolen Aston Martin and Vero’s childhood crush, Javi. But the trip doesn’t go as planned when our favorite additional cast of characters tag along for the ride (along with some newbies).
Finlay’s ex-husband and mother strategically maneuver their way on to the roadtrip. But that’s not all. Finlay’s love interest, Nick and her law enforcement sister end up crashing the party as well.
Non-stop OMG moments and laughing out loud will overtake you as you wind through this chaotic mystery.
The ending sets up book #5 perfectly! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Do yourself a favor and pick this book up. It will keep you entertained from the very beginning.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, NetGalley and Elle Cosimano for the opportunity to read this DRC in exchange for my honest review.
Finn and Vero are on their way to Atlantic City to save Javi from mob boss Marco. It becomes a whole family affair, and the ladies scheme up various plans to get away from their shadows to rescue Javi. What follows is trademark shenanigans and a couple dead bodies too, leaving Finn and Vero to solve their next perplexing conundrum.
Another great Finlay Donovan adventure! Angela Dawes is one of my favorite narrators, she embodies Finn and Vero perfectly. The line and joke delivery is spot on each time, making me laugh out loud from one moment to the next. Action packed and heartfelt are the signature themes for this series! The mystery and sleuthing is so engaging, entertaining and silly, I just love these characters so much. The whole gang shows up and callbacks to previous novels are always a nice touch. I’m channeling my inner Romelda and manifesting more Finlay books (or adaptations?) in the future!
Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Minotaur Books for the ARC of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice. This was my favorite Finlay book yet! The amazing supporting cast of characters, the adventures Finlay and Vero go on, everything! It was so outrageous and laugh-out-loud funny. I loved every second of it! I highly recommend reading the first three books in the series first as they truly build, and it would be a disservice to read on its own. This book picks up right where the third book leaves off (so maybe get a refresher first with a reread or recap).
"Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice" is the fourth installment in the Finlay Donovan series, with the story beginning where the third book left off. Single-mom-of-two/romantic suspense novelist Finlay and her nanny/partner-in-crime Vero are planning a trip to Atlantic City to save Vero's childhood crush, Javi, and find a stolen car. Disguising the rescue mission as a much-needed girls' weekend, their plans are thwarted when Finlay's ex-husband, mom, and two kids decide to tag along for the ride.
Elle Cosimano is back with another 5-star winner! "Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice" is a hilarious, action-packed mystery full of chaos, wit, and humor. Part comedy of errors, part mystery, this book is just down-right fun. As always, our lovable heroine Finlay and her trusty sidekick Vero are the perfect dynamic duo. I loved that we got to see more of Finlay's family in this book, as well as some characters from the previous books. I could not stop laughing at all the hijinks this group got up to, and Vero and the kids were especially entertaining. I love this series and am already counting down the days until Finlay Donovan #5!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Angela Dawe. This was my first time listening to any of the Finlay books on audio, and I regret not listening to them sooner. Dawe is a fantastic narrator and did such a great job voicing all of the characters. She used unique voices and accents for the different characters, which made it easy to tell them apart. I loved how she brought the story to life and made it even more enjoyable with her comedic timing and all of the banter. I was having so much fun listening that I "accidentally" binged the entire audiobook in one day. Highly recommend this audiobook!
Thank you to NetGalley, Minotaur Books, and Macmillan Audio for the ARC and ALC in exchange for the honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martins Press for this ARC!
This was a fun and hilarious continuation of the adventures of Finlay Donovan series. I felt like this story flowed really well and I liked to see more of the characters we didn’t get to see in the first few books.
I will always read more from this series!
I am still loving this series. This is another caper and while I don’t think this novel necessarily stands alone (I recommend the series be read in order), I think there’s enough recap at the beginning to reorient the reader to the point in the story. This is a fun mix of hot mess, romance, mystery, and adventure. Something for everyone.
