Finlay and Vero are back again!
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a hilarious, action packed and suspenseful read from cover to cover. Finlay, Vero, Finlay's mother, her ex and two children go on a road trip to Atlantic City for a girl’s trip. Little does the family know, the duo is there on a mission to save Javi and locate the stolen car. The book picks up minutes after the last one ends and doesn't skip a beat. I think this may be my favourite in the series, the stakes are heighted and the situations they get themselves in are more intense and thrilling. Overall, it's a fun and fast read!
Release date: March 5, 2024.
Thank you St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I love these Finlay Donovan books, and I'm happy to have read an early copy before publication.
The last book ended on a real cliffhanger. After leaving the police academy early, Javi was kidnapped, presumably to Atlantic City. The book starts with Vero and Finlay coming up with a plausible reason to go to AC. Unfortunately, Steven won't let Finlay take the kids across state lines without him, and then her mom decides to join in.
The group has to avoid Maryland entirely because of the arrest warrant on Vero. By the time they get to AC , they decide to stay at The Royal Flush, which is a crummy hotel near the Trop. They are there in the winter, so off season for the boardwalk and beach. I'm not quite sure when Cosimano last went to Atlantic City, but the place has gone downhill even in the years since it was bustling. I definitely do not see it being a tourist destination, especially in the winter. Even with the outdoor outlets and the Playground Pier shops, AC is kind of dingy outside the nicer resorts and restaurants. Anyway, it was a fun adventure that was basically nonstop. Loan sharks, Russian and Italian mafia, chop shop, it had it all. Even a dog named Kevin Bacon.
It was wrapped up pretty neatly, but with a small enough cliffhanger for the next book. 4/5☆ out 3/5/24.
If you laugh out loud while reading, you get 5 stars from me!! I did several times as I read the 4th Finlay Donovan book. This one does not disappoint. I love Finlay and Vero. The things they do! Hard to believe they did it all with the entire family and their local police force in Atlantic City! It is fast paced and full of action, an easy read for one day. The ending sets you up for the next adventure. Can't wait to see where they end up this time.
I received an advance copy for review. All opinions are my own.
Every book from Elle Cosimano is top notch but this one is the best one yet! The best comedic banter I’ve ever read with Finlay, Vero, Steven, Finlay’s mother, the kids, all ending up going to Atlantic City for a “girls trip.” Finlay and Vero are trying to rescue Javi but the family and Nick (and the police on his team) just keep getting in the way. I seriously could not quit launching out loud at every single turn in this book! This was in my top 5 books read in 2023 and I cannot wait for the next one!
Finlay and Vero are back and as funny as ever. This time we see our duo take their crime skills on the road, to Atlantic City, in hopes of rescuing Vero's friend Javi. This story had Finlay's ex-husband, mom, and kids along for the ride, which definitely led to some interesting and funny situations. I absolutely love Finn and Vero. Their banter is amazing and they have the kind of friendship most women would love to have. I can't get enough of this series, and it makes me so happy every time I pick up a new book about Finlay and Vero.
Not my favorite of the Finlay Donovan series. Was beginning to feel a little like “One for the Money” series. The epilogue really suckered me back in, by way of leaving the door open for another one…
3.5 Rounded up!
Finlay and Vero are back on a road trip to Atlantic City. In this installment the ladies are off to find Vero's loan shark, save Javi, and also find that fancy car of theirs. But their plan quickly goes awry when the kids, Steven, and her mother all tag along. Dead bodies start turning up left and right and Fin and Vero are quickly in over their heads. Shortly into the story Nick, Georgia, Charles and 2 other cops all arrive at their hotel as well on their own mission to find Felik. It's a real cat and mouse game as the girls try to do what they came to Atlantic City to do all secretly under Nick and her family's noses. In true Elle Cosimano I giggled along the whole way. The only downfall to this one is it just felt a little overloaded. There were SO many characters in this one that some of their development in terms of plot felt rushed. But the epilogue was great and I can't wait for the next one! Thank you Minotaur and NetGalley for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 ⭐️ rounded up! Another fun Finlay Donovan book! The plots just keep getting wilder and wilder. This one was no exception and had some fun plot twists and really brought a lot of the first three books to a close. The things that happen are just so unbelievable, which I find a lot of fun. I love all the characters in this series and really love how things turned out for them in this one. These are such fun reads and such a great series if you need a good laugh and a little mystery!
Thank you Netgalley, St. Martins Press, and Minotaur Books for the ARC of this book!! Definitely check this series out!!
“Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice” is the 4th book in this fantastic series by Elle Cosimano. This next installment does not disappoint either.
Finlay and Vero are just as fun to read as always as they take us along on another misadventure. There’s chaos as always, but the characters remain endearing nonetheless.
I love this series so much and I’m so glad that I was selected to enjoy this wonderful ARC. Thank you NetGalley, Elle Cosimano, and Minotaur Books!
I’ve loved all of the Finlay Donovan books, and this one is no different!!
Action packed with laugh out loud moments! The best kind of book. I loved the setting and it wasn’t hard to follow with all of the characters.
Elle Cosimano has a gift and I can’t wait for the next Finlay book!!
The 4th book of this series was another fun and fast paced book. Finlay and Vero continue to get involved in some more intense shenanigans and this time it becomes a family affair without the family being aware of it. I typically listen in audiobook, but reading was still a fun adventure.
Finlay and Vero are still so fun, and the bumbling parties around them make life difficult. This was a fun followup to the series.
These Finley Donovan books have been very comedic and slapstick, something I definitely don't like in my mysteries! But somehow I keep reading them. Entertaining I guess! The third book and more of the same craziness!
Finally we get to join Finlay on her crazy adventures again! This book has it all, excitement, love and family! You definitely should read the first ones in the series so this last book can tie up all the lose ends for you! Loved it!
I want to start off by saying I did not read the first 3 books in this series before reading this as the 4th, but I did read synopses and reviews enough to get a good feel of the characters and plot beforehand. I didn’t have a hard time following what was going on, and I thought the character development was strongly written even in a 4th of a series. I will say that I found this to be a little Jack-of-all-trades for me; this book felt like it was trying very hard to fit into suspense, humor, mystery, romance, and contemporary boxes so it just felt a bit much. I thought the writing style was very light and easy to read, I think I just wasn’t used to this type of writing so it felt a little silly to me at times. Overall, I’d say if you want a lighthearted read with a bit of suspense to keep you going, this is a good option!
The adventures of Finlay and Vero never cease to amaze me! Cosimano does such a wonderful job bringing these characters to life - the pining from Steven, the steadfastness from Nick, the quick thinking from Finlay, the adorable ridiculousness of Delia and Zach…I am always thoroughly immersed in the characters and the stories! The antics get more ridiculous with each book and every cliffhanger leaves me desperate for the next installment. This was a joy ride from start to finish!
Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC!
Finlay Donovan's tribulations get more ridiculous - and more fun - in this latest installment of the book. The last book, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, left off with Finlay and Vero heading to Atlantic City to clear Vero's debts, once and for all. They make it there - accompanied by Finlay's two children, mom, and ex-husband. When even more people in Finlay's life show up, her life pretty much becomes a circus. How are they going to find her car, pay off Vero's debts, and free Vero's friend Javi without any of the people in Finlay's life knowing what's going on?
I don't know how Elle Cosimano does it, but she puts Finlay and Vero through completely insane situations but has you believing they are plausible! Readers will root for Finlay and Vero the whole time while enjoying the craziness and a dog named...Kevin Bacon. This is a worthy installment in a fun series and I can't wait to see what Finlay and Vero get into next!
I love this story!! The only thing is is wish the story was able to breathe and wasn't so fast paced. Also the books going striaght from one to the other I tend to forget the little things and I wish there was a preface or the entire series was out before I started the series.
I think this is where I leave Finaly Donovan. The first couple of books were perfection and lately they just aren't as fun and just feel like a money grab from the publishers. Left Finlay rest!
2.5 stars rounded down My lower rating mostly pertains to my feelings about how everything was resolved and who was held responsible. I just wasn't satisfied with the ways certain characters took accountability (or often didn't) for their actions. I love that Finlay and Nick love each other, but it was stressful to me how many secrets remain in their relationship.
She did it again! I love love love this series! It’s hilarious and fun and I couldn’t put it down! I have been a fan since book one and this one might be my favorite!
