I am so glad Finlay and Vero are back! This was the type of adventure I was looking for and I think it summed up the last three books so nicely.
I had a lot of fun reading this book and was always trying to find time in the day to sneak in some reading time with it.
The characters were dynamic and jumped right off the page, as always, and you were routing for them the whole time while also on the edge of your seat and waiting for them to slip up or get caught.
The antics were great and very entertaining. I think the storyline has to be my favorite part of this book. The author did a really good job of having everything come full circle and tying up all lose ends.
The cliffhanger we are left on was honestly kind of perfect and I just can’t be mad at it. I know we will get another book and I will be looking forward to seeing where the story goes next.
I am truly honored to have received an arc for this book as I have loved this series since first reading it. Thank you Elle Cosimano and NetGalley, I am leaving this review on my own.
I just love Finlay. If something can go wrong, it will when she is involved. There is something about this power duo that I can't get enough of. Finlay and Vero take a road trip and every step along the way trouble happens. AND we get more of Javi and Vero ❤️
Cozy mystery
Badass women
Atlantic City late night vibes
LOL moments
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice!
Did someone say Road Trip! When one of the Finlay Donovan books lands in my hand, I instantly smile. How many of us can say that about a series of books.
This time we meet up with Finlay under the guise of needing a girls weekend away, so you guessed it Finlay and Vero are on their way to Atlantic City, baby! Finlay's ex, Steve, is tagging along WITH the kids and let's just add Finlay's Mom in the package too. You are already smiling aren't you?
The problem is Finlay and Vero are up to their usual antics, so they have to be stealth to hide their shenanigans from the family. Do you think everything is going to follow plan for these two? You know, it's Finlay's world where nothing ever goes exactly as planned. We love her so much, would we even want it to? Elle Cosimano brings us non-stop Finlay action and excitement, picking up right where the 3rd book left off. If you love books that make you laugh, involve a bit of a love triangle, and fun side kicks - Finlay Donovan is for you.
This book is expected to release March 5, 2024. Thank you to Minotaur Books for the chance to preview it!
I was thrilled to receive an advanced copy of the newest Finlay Donovan! I've been dying to know what she and Vero had been up to since we left off. It did take me a while to figure out where we left off, as it's been a year and many books in between! I felt like Cosimano filled in those spots during the story.
Finlay and Vero are off to Atlantic City to find Javi. With Steven, the kids, Vero, Finlay, and Finlay's mom in tow, they head off for a "girls weekend." When arriving, Finlay and Vero sneak off to find the loan shark, Marco. He doesn't give any details, so they go to his hotel to get more information on the missing car, and the missing person. When they arrive, they find a lot more than they were looking for... what will happen to the girls in this book? Read this wild ride to find out!!
Though there was a lot going on, this book kept me hooked! I needed to keep reading to find out what happened. Who is behind all of this? Twists and turns around every corner. I can't wait for Finlay's next adventure!!
Thanks to Minotaur and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
4 ⭐️ 1 🌶
Another fantastic installment of Finlay and Vero’s adventures. This installment takes us on an epic roadtrip with Finlay’s mom, ex-husband, and kids in tow. Javi has been taken but never fear Finlay and Vero will solve the case and save him! Of course hot cop love interest, Detective Nick shows up as well. I love the evolution of Finlay across the series and always can’t wait to see where she ends up next. I feel a little like her crazy book editor but I’ll say it anyway. I think we need more of the hot cop!
Thank you netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. All opinions here are my own.

Once again, I was sucked back into Fin's world and didn't want to leave. This installment had alot of good detail and story-building, which is exactly what I like to see. Other readers might consider it a bit too wordy or bogged down, but I enjoyed the attention to detail.
The twists kept on coming, the drama amped up, Stephen continued to be an insufferable human piece of garbage, and there were plenty of hilarious moments that kept me entertained. Nick and Fin's relationship continued to simmer, Vero's relationship ups and downs were entertaining and heartwarming, and the added pizzazz of being in Vegas made the story fun. And the cliffhanger ending? I mean...how many stories will we get, Elle??
At this point, I'm pretty much invested in reading any bit of Fin's life story that I can, and I cannot wait for the next round!
Ever hear of an auto by author? ( and yes… Elle Cosimano is that for me) BUT Finlay is an auto buy character for me. ANYTHING with her and Vero is bound to be a hilarious bumpy road to the truth. With crazy antics and wild characters. Loved this one!
I have enjoyed every book in the Finlay Donovan series so far! This one was wiiiiild. I’m not sure how you can make murder + dealing with the mob seem wacky + fun, but that’s exactly what the author does. I truly can’t believe the mess that Finlay got herself into this time… and my jaw dropped at the end. I’ll be reading the next one!
Thank you so much to St Martin's Press and NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely love Finlay Donovan, Elle Cosimano has made a character that's absolutely relatable and hilarious and gets into situations that are so much fun to follow along - if you enjoy cozy mysteries.
In this one we even get to o on a roadtrip!
All to say, this was as much fun as the other ones, I highly recommend!
I’ve loved all of the books in the Finlay Donovan series. They’re fun, there’s great banter, the characters are well-developed, the romance is great, and each book seems to improve on the last. A new setting was a fun change of pace and I enjoyed tying up some ends in this book and can’t wait to see where the cliffhanger ending takes readers next!
My thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an advance reader’s copy.
Finlay Donovan and Vero Ruiz are at it again in the fourth book of this series. I love the characters and how relatable they are. This book is full of impossible situations that keep the pages turning.
Book four picks up right where the last book ended. When they find a ransom note, Finlay and Vero head to Atlantic City to save Javi and track down their stolen car. Finlay’s ex husband and her mother insist of tagging along on theirs ‘girls weekend’. As usual the story quickly turns into Finlay and Vero taking on a dangerous loan shark, walking into a double murder scene, and running from the Russian mob. Finlay’s hot cop boyfriend Nick and his team show up at the scummy casino hotel they’re staying in and that makes covering their tracks even harder.
I love the antics that the characters get into in this series. They always make me laugh, and I will continue to read about Finlay Donovan’s adventures!! ♥️
Many thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the opportunity to read this E-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
What can I say other than this is a Finlay Donovan book? Of course it gets 5 stars! Once again, we follow Finlay and Vero in a hilarious comedy of errors involving dead bodies, stolen cars, and lost boyfriends. Don't go into these books expecting believability because you will be sorely disappointed. The whole purpose of this series is to be quirky and off the wall. I love reading these books to take a break from reality and get lost in the craziness of Finlay's world. Just when you think the mystery is solved, another crazy twist happens. I am so happy to have gotten an advanced review copy for one of my favorite series! Definitely, definitely read this book if you want to laugh hysterically and fall in love with every single character.
What a fun light-hearted mystery! This is book 4 in the Finlay Donovan series and I really enjoyed it. This was actually the first book I picked up in this series and I would say that it can be read on its own, but I probably would have enjoyed it even more had I read the previous books in the series first. I absolutely fell in love with the characters and I found myself laughing quite a bit at the interactions between Finlay and Vero on this adventure. This is definitely a fun, fast-paced read that will keep you flipping pages.
5 stars. I have been a Finlay fan from the beginning. I read the first book right when it came out, and the subsequent books have all be part of my most anticipated reads of the year. Sometimes when a series progresses as far as the Finlay series has, the books become progressively sillier, feel a bit dragged out, and it makes you wish the author quite while they were ahead. Although Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is still decidedly silly, I am so glad that Cosimano keeps adding to the series. In no way do these books feel stale. Rolls the Dice was just as fresh as the first Finlay installment, and I had a smile on my face for the entire read.
What can you expect from the Finlay series? Each book has its own super fast-paced mystery with a lot of shenanigans. It also features one of my favorite bookish friendships ever between Finlay and Vero (those girls are ride or die-- literally), a lot of mom humor, and yes, even a romance! The books do need to be read in order, and although each book has it's own mystery, all 4 of the books so far have had a lot of overlap in characters/ crimes. One of the things I really appreciated about Rolls the Dice is that it feels like we finally get to put a period to the end of one specific story line. Don't get me wrong, with that ending, Cosimano has made it clear that there is more Finlay to come, but I like that a certain story line has finally reached it's conclusion. Because to continue it would have dragged things out just a bit too much, in my opinion. Honestly, this might be my second favorite Finlay book-- my favorite is the original. If you're a fan of the series, you should obviously continue with Rolls the Dice. If you haven't read the Finlay books, but enjoy smartly written cozy mysteries with shenanigans, then you should absolutely give this series a read-- just make sure you read in order.
Thank you so much to Cosimano, Minotaur, and netgalley for the ARC in exchange of my honest review.
This is super cute, but Finlay is getting a bit repetitive. Fun, but not a necessary read at Book #4.
I absolutely love the Finlay Donovan series and I was so thrilled to be approved for her latest book. This was such a fun, suspenseful, and hilarious read! All of the characters are well developed and so relatable. I enjoyed reading about Finlay and Vero’s crazy adventures!
I've been a big fan of the series, but this one didn't do it for me. I was a little annoyed with the far-fetched plot in this book. That's the point, but it felt forced and too much. The 4th book starts right as book 3 ended. Under the false pretense of a girl's trip, Finlay, Vero, the kids, and mom go on a road trip to Atlantic City, They encounter roadblock after roadblock from family, friends, lovers, and bad guys. I'm sure book five is in the works, and I'll read it too I'm sure!
Thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for an advance copy of this book to read and review.
This is installment #4 in the Finlay Donovan series and picks up the story right from the end of the previous book, so make sure to read the others in order first. I thought this book was comparable to the first book in its rollicking fun murder capers. I enjoyed it, and it read very quickly, keeping my attention and interest, even though it is the fourth book. It was laugh out loud funny in parts and driven by the characters Finlay and Vero. The whole cast ends up in Atlantic City and there's a whole lot of fun going on. This book brings the Feliks Zhirov story to a close but ends on a cliff hanger that will keep you coming back for book #5. I can't wait!
I've been anticipating this book for a whole year, specially since I read the one before toward the end of 2022. I didn't know what was going to happen considering how the last book ended in a cliffhanger type of situation, but this book was definitely a ride from beginning to end. The fact that so many different characters end up in Atlantic City where Finlay and Vero are trying to mount a rescue operation is both entertaining and frustrating. Just when you think they're going to catch a break, things get ten times more complicated. I think the plot was really fun, but I have to say I'm getting a little bogged down by the extension of the conflict. I was really enjoying how much this book felt like a completion. All the loose ends of the past three books were coming to a head and the characters were finally finding some agency. I really enjoyed that aspect of the book! After awhile, though I understand it, the sneaking around and the lying start to get to me and I want some honesty and vulnerability, specially between Finlay and her love interest. I loved how Finlay took back her power in this one, and I felt like the last chapter was a great conclusion. And then the epilogue happened and now I don't know where this series is going haha. I definitely think I will still continue it, but something has got to give!
O.M.G She’s back at it!!!!! Finlay Donovan & her nanny/partner-in-crime Vero are in sore need of a girls’ weekend away. They plan a trip to Atlantic City, but odds are—seeing as it’s actually a cover story to negotiate a deal with a dangerous loan shark, save Vero’s childhood crush Javi, & hunt down a stolen car—it won’t be all fun & games. When Finlay’s ex-husband Steven and her mother insist on tagging along too, Finlay and Vero suddenly have a few too many meddlesome passengers along for the ride.
Within hours of arriving in their seedy casino hotel, it becomes clear their rescue mission is going to be a bust. Javi’s kidnapper, Marco, refuses to negotiate, demanding payment in full in exchange for Javi’s life. But that’s not all—he insists on knowing the whereabouts of his missing nephew, Ike, who mysteriously disappeared. Unable to confess what really happened to Ike, Finlay & Vero are forced to come up with a new plan: sleuth out the location of Javi & the Aston Martin, then steal them both back.
But when they sneak into the loan shark’s suite to search for clues, they find more than they bargained for—Marco, dead in his bathtub. They don’t have a clue who murdered him, only that they themselves have a very convincing motive. Then four members of the police department unexpectedly show up in town, also looking for Ike—& after Finlay's night with hot cop Nick at the police academy, he’s a little too eager to keep her close to his side.
If Finlay can juggle a jealous ex-husband, two precocious kids, her mother’s marital issues, a decomposing loan shark, & find Vero’s missing boyfriend, she might get out of Atlantic City in one piece. But will she fold under the pressure and come clean about the things she’s done, or be forced to double down?
