I know I will always have fun reading a Finlay Donovan book and this was no exception. In this new installment to Finlay's adventures, Finlay and her assistant/partner in crime, Vero, head to Atlantic City to help save Vero's boyfriend from loan sharks that are part of Vero's past. This newest addition to the series helped us gain insight on Vero's past, but it also let us see out current cast of characters in a new setting which I really enjoyed. I will always automatically read any Finlay Donovan book, and Elle Cosimano has become an author that I will automatically buy. I am obsessed with her witty and fun writing. I recommend this book and the rest of the series to anyone that is looking for a book with some mystery, drama, and crime but also some comedic plot points as well.
This is the fourth book in the Finlay Donovan series. It picks up directly after book 3 finishes. Finlay and Vero are attempting to make a trip to Atlantic City to try to get Vero out of trouble with a loan shark. The trip goes sideways as Finlay's ex husband and mother talk themselves into joining the trip. Soon Finlay's love interest Nick and her sister join the already overstuffed crew. Finlay and Vero have to juggle the group while trying to solve the mystery and get both of themselves out of trouble with the law.
I really love this series! The plot is fairly unbelievable but the books are always way too much fun for me to care! The characters are great. There is a perfect mix of mystery and humor. I can't wait to read the next book!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks NetGalley,
I can't get enough of Finlay and Vero's hijinks. For a romance writer and a babysitter they sure do find a lot of trouble. This series is laugh out loud funny and highly recommend it. If this were a television series I would binge watch it because I literally cannot get enough of this series. If you have ever seen the show Good Girls I would say it is very comparable to that but steamier and not vulgar. I would also make sure that you read the previous book because that is where this one starts.
Finlay Donovan and her nanny/partner-in-crime Vero are in sore need of a girls’ weekend away. They plan a trip to Atlantic City, but odds are―seeing as it’s actually a cover story to negotiate a deal with a dangerous loan shark, save Vero’s childhood crush Javi, and hunt down a stolen car―it won’t be all fun and games. When Finlay’s ex-husband Steven and her mother insist on tagging along too, Finlay and Vero suddenly have a few too many meddlesome passengers along for the ride.
If Finlay can juggle a jealous ex-husband, two precocious kids, her mother’s marital issues, a loan shark, and find Vero’s missing boyfriend, she might get out of Atlantic City in one piece. But will she fold under the pressure and come clean about the things she’s done, or be forced to double down?

Are you ready for another adventure with Finlay Donovan and her partner-in-crime? Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice picks up where Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun left off .. left off .. a ransom note, someone kidnap, a missing Aston and 72 hours to pay off loan shark!!
Finlay and Vero are off to Atlantic City for a girl’s weekend. But is it? Plus, what kind of girl’s weekend can it be when you have your ex-husband, mother and two kids tagging along? Or is it just a ploy to make a deal with Marco, Vero’s dodgy loan shark, find kidnapped Javi and locate the stolen Aston Martin Superleggera? With every step forward there is something that stops them in their track .. getting ex-husband Steve to take care of the children, Susan wanting to join them and it did does not help matters that Nick shows up his crew. All Finlay and Vero can pray for is that no dead bodies show up. What is the probability of that not happening?
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is pure entertainment and with Finlay and Vero you just never know what trouble lies ahead of them and how they will worm their way out of any situation.
Elle Cosimano’s Finlay Donovan series is a little bit action pack, a little bit comedy and a little bit heat thrown in for Finlay and Nick. And just when you think Book #4 has ends on a high note and might be end .. don’t be fool that epilogue just might lead down a new path for this dynamic duo.
If you are a fan of the Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series you will totally enjoy this series. However, the Finlay Series in one long story that builds from the first book so make sure you read them in chronical order.
Thank you, Elle Cosimano, St. Martin’sPress-Minotaur Books and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. This novel is due to be released on March 5, 2024.
Always a fun read. This time Finlay and family romp into Atlantic City looking for a car, a man and a key. They deal with mobsters and dealers and murder.
What a fun book!! You never know what you’ll get with series. I loved this one as much as book 1,2 and 3. I love reading about Finlay and Vero’s adventures. Do I dare say there will be a 5th book??
Thanks to Netgalley, St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books for my advanced copy in exchange for my honest review

Just as good as her others! The author does a great job weaving a complex story that’s easy to follow. Per usual, you’ll find yourself laughing while also wondering how Finlay is gonna get herself of her mess. Can’t wait for her next one!
Finlay Donovan strikes again! This was such a good installment and I loved every second! Following on the heels of the previous book Finlay gets out of town and heads to Atlantic City to rescue Javier and find the stolen Aston Martin. If I were faced with that I would have given up before I began, but Finlay and Vero are persistent and work those detective skills, even when their investigation is hampered when Nick, Georgia, Sam, and the FBI show up. Dead bodies in bathrooms, dogs in bathrooms, disguises, mob bosses and “private lenders” litter the pages of this book and bring so much character, plot, and action. The scene of Finlay and Vero in the stairwell made me stop and laugh out loud. I started this series in January and I’ve been able to gobble each one down without much wait. It’s going to be killer to see what secrets await in #5!
Ahhhh! Another Finlay book! I have read all of the books in this series and just can’t get enough of the shenanigans! If you are a fan of the series- you will love it!!
What can I say? If Elle Cosimano is going to keep writing these, I’m going to keep reading them. They are light, fun, quick reads and the chaos makes these all the more enjoyable. I am definitely glad we seem to be past the love triangle of it all!
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press + NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!
I love these books!! If you love a cozy, mystery with humor then you will love these books too!!
This one was my favorite of the series but understand I loved the others as well.
This book takes you to Atlantic City to uncover a kidnapping. You will turn the pages and laugh out loud!
Out in March, go put it on your TBR list!
First things first IS THERE GOING TO BE ANOTHER BOOK!?!
I thought this was the last one but that ending….
I have absolutely loved this whole series. The mystery, the comedy, friendship, the romance ahhh it is all so good!!
I have recommended this series to everyone I know!
I absolute love the way Elle tells a story. I have read all these books within 1-2 days of starting each.
I have loved following each character throughout this series - even Steven! I know crazy right! Haha
You will not regret reading these books!
Seriously, go read them. Now.
Another wild, wacky Finlay & Vero weekend. And once again, I have no idea how Finn and Vero manage to do everything they do…
A) without getting caught red-handed
B) with the tiny little number of hours they always seem to have
C) without giving themselves away
D) and with everyone around!!!
Also, why do they make such ridiculous decisions?!?! I suppose that’s part of the hilarity and charm of these books. This one ties up much of the prior three with a neat little bow…until the end, lol.
Overall, great read that I enjoyed very much (despite the stress and overwhelming sense of dread that I get in the pit of my stomach because they are chaos magnets and also Finlay’s kids are at the hellion stage).
This picks up immediately after we last left Finlay and Vero trying to track down a missing Javi and an a stolen expensive sports car, all while trying to avoid the mob boss goons set on tracking Finlay down. Which would be hard enough if they didn't also end up on a road trip to Atlantic City accompanied by 2 kids, a mother, an ex-husband, and a cop boyfriend, not to mention the expired detective on the mobs payroll. This time it will be all they can do to keep up appearances of a relaxed weekend while trying to stay alive, find and rescue Javi, and solve the case of the missing thumb drive, the one piece of evidence that can tie Finlay to all of the crimes and ruin any chance of a future with hot cop Nick. All while keeping the kids happy and taking care of a murder victim's dog. Will this adventure be the end of the duo? Or will they be able to pull it all together and stay alive?
This is a great addition to this series. I really liked that it wrapped up a bunch of loose strings for the over-arching storyline and leaves room to move onto the next thread of their lives. There's plenty of humor to go around, and the close calls and action scenes are well written. I'm not sure that having the kids so close to the danger worked for me, but the rest of the mishaps with the characters were quite entertaining. It was also good to see all of the character growth for all of the side characters and not just the main ones.
Fun, fun, fun! Traveling and sleuthing with Finlay Donovan is always an adventure. This time she’s in Atlantic City chasing the bad guys with her mother, ex husband, young children, their nanny, hunky boyfriend and others in tow. A fast-paced, humorous, exciting adventure!
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this ARC.
This was an enjoyable light-hearted mystery. I really liked the characters and the storyline of this book. Finlay Donovan Rolls The Dice is book four in the Finlay Donovan series. This was my first book in this series and even though it could be read on its own. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I read the previous books first. I think this is a series that I could really love and I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
I loved being back in Finlay and Vero’s world! I will say with this one, I got a little tired of their dumb mistakes. I didn’t dislike this book but I think it was my least favorite in the series. But I will keep reading them!
I've read all the Finlay Donovan stories and was thrilled to request and be approved for this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is by far the funniest of the series. Finlay and Vero are in trouble again. This time they head to Atlantic City to save Vero's cousin, who has been kidnapped. This one has it all - mobsters, bad cops, the hot detective, and an annoying ex-husband. There were places I laughed out loud.
very good closure to the series. I enjoyed Finlay again. she is always up to something funny. would reccomend for easy mystery and light reading
Cosimano does it again!!! This series just continues to be unmatched in it's enjoyment factor. I am addicted to Finlay and Vero and their hijinx and cannot wait to see what they get up to next!
As is the theme in this series, you have to suspend reality a bit and just know that things are going to be wild and out of control. But our MC's are so funny and relatable, and the story so entertaining and engrossing, you just don't care.
I don't want to give too much away but here is what's inside and what you can expect: dead bodies, explosions, sexy times with officer foxy, a dog named Kevin Bacon, sleuthing, adventures at a strip club, and OF COURSE that ending with a cliffhanger!!!!
Anxiously awaiting book five now!
