This book was so much fun. I loved that we learned more about Vero and her past. I also loved seeing the small glimpses of Vero and Javi together. The new setting also added a lot more intrigue. Almost everything was surface level but it was a fun read that was light while tackling criminal activities. I kind of miss the lawyer though.
*Thank you NetGalley and Minotaur books for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was looking forward to this book SO MUCH but I just couldn't get into the story. I felt the writing was "choppy" and my mind wandered. I wish I could have rated this higher.
This installment picks up immediately after the last book, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, ended. It jumps right into the shenanigans - that we are all too familiar with now - so make sure you give yourself a refresher to be ready!
🎶 “Maisie Peters - Smile” is the anthem for this one! 🎶 This book was pure, delightful entertainment from start to finish! I literally could not put it down. Elle Cosimano can really create scenes that suck you in and make you feel like you are right there in the middle of it all. It was a truly addictive read with non-stop action, hilarious banter, short easy chapters, and the characters we have grown to know and love. I really could not have asked for more. And that CLIFFHANGER! I’m already ready for the next one… 🍿
I really enjoy the Finlay Donovan series, so I was very excited to get approved for the fourth book in the series on Netgalley. This one was a great continuation with the same fun, quirky characters from the rest of the series. We follow Finlay and her nanny Vero as they play detective, if only to cover their own tracks - relying heavily on luck. It's not terribly realistic, but very fun and entertaining. The part that is too much of a stretch for me is that they brought Finlay's young children along to Atlantic City where Finlay and Vero got themselves into some very sketchy and dangerous situations.
Note: you do need to read these books in order. The first book is definitely my favorite.
We were left with the possibilty of a fifth book, which I will definitely pick up!
This was my favorite Finlay Donovan book yet!
Finlay and Vero want to take a “girls weekend” to Atlantic City to wrap up some unfinished business. What could possibly go wrong? It’ll just be them…her mother, her ex husband, her sister, the children, her boyfriend and a few extras.
In classic Elle Cosimano style, you’ll be laughing and gasping during this wild 72-hour adventure!
Thank you St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for the ARC!
In this latest installment of Finlay Donovan's adventures, the crew is headed to Atlantic City. The WHOLE crew... including Steven, Vero, Finlays' mom, Finlay's kids, Nick and his contingent. These books are always such fun & easy reads so going in knowing you're about to get a cozy mystery is necessary--it's good to remind yourself of what you're heading into before reading these. They're ridiculous and they're meant to be.
Overall, a good palette cleanser of a book.
3.5⭐️ rounded up
This story picks RIGHT up where we left off in Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, with Vero and Finlay heading to Atlantic City. If you remember all the details, they do an alright job of catching you up.
Overall this wasn’t my favorite one. There are so many characters and a lot of moving parts. I got easily lost. Things move so fast it’s hard to understand what time it is, which gets confusing. Some details are missed or don’t make sense, so it’s hard to stay engaged. But the last quarter of the book I felt invested again and felt the suspense waiting to see how it was all going to wrap up. The last sentence was quite the surprise!!
Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC. If you love Finlay and her ridiculous hijinks, be sure to check this one out when it’s out next March!
Absolutely loved this addition to the series!! Ridiculous hijinks, more dead bodies, more Javi ;). Can’t wait to see what happens next in these women’s crazy lives! I sure hope this wasn’t the end!
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.
This is another wonderful addition to the Finlay Donovan series! Here we follow Finaly and Vero to Atlantic City as they get into more shenanigans while on a “girls trip”. All of the previous characters end up in Atlantic City together which keeps the humor and mystery going.
These books are absolutely delightful and I would recommend this one one as well as the rest of the series.
Thank you to St Martins Press and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
I will happily leave a review for this when the racist remarks by one of their employees is addressed. I want to support the author, but also want to know they don’t support this behavior.
Oh Finlay Donovan, you crazy lady.
Honestly, I should have reread the previous books in the series to truly understand the whole story, but the more you know. I don't even know how to describe the plot of this story without giving things away, because I'm not even 100% sure I follow the whole plot and how things shook out.
I'll be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of Finlay in this book. I don't love how she lies to Nick, but I also get the sense he knows she's hiding stuff and is somehow okay with it? I'm not sure I remember everything from previous books.
Read it if you want to continue the series, but that's about the only way I'd recommend reading it.
Thanks, NetGalley!
I love Finlay Donovan! This was a fabulous continuation of Finlay's crazy antics. She is hilarious!
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
"Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice" by Ellie Cosimano is a delightful addition to the series that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. As a fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the novel, finding the twists and turns to be refreshingly original. Cosimano weaves an intricate narrative that combines suspense, humor, and a touch of chaos, making it a truly engaging read. Finlay Donovan continues to be a compelling and relatable protagonist, and the story's unpredictable nature adds an extra layer of excitement. Despite feeling a little long or complicated at parts, I am continuing to enjoy the antics of these characters and can't wait to see what happens next.
Thank you Netgalley, MacMillan and the author the the free e-Arc in exchange for my honest review. I recently got a chance tj listen to the novella for book 3.5 and made me more excited to read this one. I love the series it's fun quick read and excited to listen to the audiobook soon.
I was worried this wouldn't live up to the hype of the first few books but it definitely does! Finlay is back with her dry humor, dangerous business, cop boyfriend, and everything in between. Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the ARC.
This book was just what my heart needed. I enjoyed the next book in the series. It still doesn’t beat the first book but it was a great addition. All my favorite characters, the comedy, the suspense and a couple twists I didn’t see coming. I enjoyed reading the next part of the story and the ending sets up for another book wonderfully.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC and I can’t wait until everyone can read the next book in the series. Out 04/2024.

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice by Elle Cosimano is the fourth book in the series that follows Finlay, a middle aged single mom of 2, and Vero, her children’s nanny, as they head to Atlantic City and continue to try to clean up their mess after accidentally getting involved with some serious criminal organizations.
This book was a cute, quick and easy read!! There are a lot of characters to keep up with, and I would’ve appreciated a little character map in the beginning of some sort to be honest. But it’s lighthearted, and a good time.
However, I think the Finlay Donovan series is getting a little bit too far fetched for me. In book one, it seemed more realistic, and now the plots and storylines are getting a little out of hand. I read online there’s going to be seven books in this series? That seems like a lot.. As of right now I’d probably still read book number five, but I’m not sure there’s enough interesting plots here to keep me continuing so we’ll see how that goes!
A quick, fun read that will having you laughing out loud. If you enjoy the Stephanie Plum series, you love this series too. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!
I have throughly enjoyed the Finlay Donovan series and this one does not disappoint! Finlay, Veronica, Finlay’s mother, kids AND her ex all road trip to Atlantic City to investigate. What could be the problem?
Told with Elle’s typical humor and with the series of mishaps we have come to expect, Finlay must solve the case, avoid the gang AND meet her book deadline!
Highly recommend!
I have read every single Finlay book and pretty much lost my mind when I got approved for this ARC. A huge thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this amazing book!
This book kicks off with Finlay and Vero fresh from the citizens police academy and hightailing it to Atlantic City to find Javi. Instead of just a “girl’s trip”, it quickly becomes a family affair.
I wasn’t exactly sure how I would feel about the setting in Atlantic City, but I absolutely loved it. I love the banter and the dry humor that is always entangled in these books as well as the characters I have come to love.
I hope there will be another book to savor!
