Another cute installation of Finlay Donovan. It starts a little predictable but it picks up in humor and drama as the plot thickens. Provides laughs as Finlay and Vero find themselves in more dilemmas in Atlantic City. This is definitely a reliable series and author. Thanks for Elle Cosimano, St Martins Press, and NetGalley for the ARC!
Book 4 picks up right where the previous book left off! Another cozy mystery with all of the characters we’ve come to know and love.
On this adventure, Finlay and Vero venture to Atlantic City. Only plot twist after plot twist occurs keeping them on their toes.
With this being a continuation of the previous 3 books, I felt as if the story was repetitive at points. While I really enjoy the characters and their dynamic, I wish the story were a little more creative and interesting.
The latest installment of Finlay Donovan did not disappoint. Her antics with Vero are my absolute favorite part, everyone needs a best friend like her. It had been awhile since I read the most recent book, so I had quite a lot to try to remember. The book was everything I expected, and wanted it to be!
The fourth installment in the iconic Finlay Donovan series is an absolute riot.
I've adored this entire series and actively spend my free time searching for books that pack the same level of steam, humor, and borderline criminal activity. Finlay is relatable and hilarious and watching her grow throughout this series has been an absolute pleasure. Cosimano manages to make me (a twenty-three year old graduate student) relate to Finaly, a recently divorced thirty-year-old single mom of two. Vero, her sidekick/accountant/baby sitter is one of my all time favorite fictional characters and getting to see her with more personal storylines in this book is such a privilege.
As always, Steven is the worst, Georgia is such a mood, the entire book is absolute chaos (in the best way) and Nick is so so swoony <3. I am living for this series and I cannot wait for the next few books.
I'm making all my friends read this one!! That should be enough endorsement for you :)
I never want this series to end!!
I love the Finlay Donovan & Vero escapades so much. It literally picks up right where it left off from book three, same day and everything. I recommend this series to all my mystery loving friends.
I don’t want to say much about the plot without giving anything away, but the author has a way to add in fresh ideas without the plot getting boring!
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.
Finlay Finlay Finlay. My girl has never disappointed me once. Sometimes I worry that the next book won't have the same vibes as the one before it but not in this case! The only issue is that it does not come out until MARCH!!
This is the 4th book in the series. Unfortunately, things seem to be going downhill with Finlay. I started to lose interest with the prior book, and I believe this will be the last one I read. The plot was a bit over the top, and the pace was just too slow to keep me actively engaged. It does pick up where book #3 left off, so it helps to read them in order. I appear to be in the minority, so if you've enjoyed the others in the series, you may feel differently about this one.
I just love that we got another Finlay and Vero adventure and it did not disappoint! The ladies head to Atlantic City to track down Javi and the stolen car, with some unexpected guests joining them for the trip! Lots of fun shenanigans happening in this one, with close calls and bodies being found that makes things just a bit more complicated! The storyline pace was good and it was nice to have some loose ends get tied up. I’m really liking the Finlay and Nick romance, definitely not missing the young lawyer love interest from previous books! Overall, this was an enjoyable read. Not quite the magic and belly laughs the first two novels had but will continue to be a fan of this series! Looking forward to the next one!
I unfortunately could not get into this one... I loved the first 3, but at this point it just feels too drawn out. I tried to get into it multiple times and it just doesn't keep my attention and I had to DNF.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice (Finlay Donovan #4) by Elle Cosimano 🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠/5
Finlay and Vero are at it again! Using a girls' weekend away as a cover to save Vero's childhood crush, Javi, negotiate a deal with a dangerous loan shark, and hunt down a stolen car - you know you are in for a page-turner!
The mystery builds nicely; there are lots of things happening to misdirect you. You laugh, sit on the edge of your seat, and turn the pages as fast as you can devour the words. The character growth over the last four books - it is awe-inspiring. I love all the characters (maybe not her ex-husband!) and want them to have their books!
The friendship between Finlay and Vero - that's the kind of friendship we all want when we get older. That ride or die, no matter what, you have each other's backs - even if it's INSANE. This is hands down one of my favourite reads of 2023!
Thank you to Minotaur Books/St. Martins Press for a free advanced readers' copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.
It's scheduled for release on March 5, 2024, and is available for preorder wherever you buy your books!
I love the adventures of FInlay and Vero so much and this was the perfect addition! I love that this one picked up right where we left off in the last and this had some of the funniest banter yet. I love this series so much and always recommend it to anyone looking for a light hearted but twisty read!
This book was so much fun. I loved that we learned more about Vero and her past. I also loved seeing the small glimpses of Vero and Javi together. The new setting also added a lot more intrigue. Almost everything was surface level but it was a fun read that was light while tackling criminal activities. I kind of miss the lawyer though.
*Thank you NetGalley and Minotaur books for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was looking forward to this book SO MUCH but I just couldn't get into the story. I felt the writing was "choppy" and my mind wandered. I wish I could have rated this higher.
This installment picks up immediately after the last book, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, ended. It jumps right into the shenanigans - that we are all too familiar with now - so make sure you give yourself a refresher to be ready!
🎶 “Maisie Peters - Smile” is the anthem for this one! 🎶 This book was pure, delightful entertainment from start to finish! I literally could not put it down. Elle Cosimano can really create scenes that suck you in and make you feel like you are right there in the middle of it all. It was a truly addictive read with non-stop action, hilarious banter, short easy chapters, and the characters we have grown to know and love. I really could not have asked for more. And that CLIFFHANGER! I’m already ready for the next one… 🍿
I really enjoy the Finlay Donovan series, so I was very excited to get approved for the fourth book in the series on Netgalley. This one was a great continuation with the same fun, quirky characters from the rest of the series. We follow Finlay and her nanny Vero as they play detective, if only to cover their own tracks - relying heavily on luck. It's not terribly realistic, but very fun and entertaining. The part that is too much of a stretch for me is that they brought Finlay's young children along to Atlantic City where Finlay and Vero got themselves into some very sketchy and dangerous situations.
Note: you do need to read these books in order. The first book is definitely my favorite.
We were left with the possibilty of a fifth book, which I will definitely pick up!
This was my favorite Finlay Donovan book yet!
Finlay and Vero want to take a “girls weekend” to Atlantic City to wrap up some unfinished business. What could possibly go wrong? It’ll just be them…her mother, her ex husband, her sister, the children, her boyfriend and a few extras.
In classic Elle Cosimano style, you’ll be laughing and gasping during this wild 72-hour adventure!
Thank you St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for the ARC!
In this latest installment of Finlay Donovan's adventures, the crew is headed to Atlantic City. The WHOLE crew... including Steven, Vero, Finlays' mom, Finlay's kids, Nick and his contingent. These books are always such fun & easy reads so going in knowing you're about to get a cozy mystery is necessary--it's good to remind yourself of what you're heading into before reading these. They're ridiculous and they're meant to be.
Overall, a good palette cleanser of a book.
3.5⭐️ rounded up
This story picks RIGHT up where we left off in Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, with Vero and Finlay heading to Atlantic City. If you remember all the details, they do an alright job of catching you up.
Overall this wasn’t my favorite one. There are so many characters and a lot of moving parts. I got easily lost. Things move so fast it’s hard to understand what time it is, which gets confusing. Some details are missed or don’t make sense, so it’s hard to stay engaged. But the last quarter of the book I felt invested again and felt the suspense waiting to see how it was all going to wrap up. The last sentence was quite the surprise!!
Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC. If you love Finlay and her ridiculous hijinks, be sure to check this one out when it’s out next March!
Absolutely loved this addition to the series!! Ridiculous hijinks, more dead bodies, more Javi ;). Can’t wait to see what happens next in these women’s crazy lives! I sure hope this wasn’t the end!
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.
This is another wonderful addition to the Finlay Donovan series! Here we follow Finaly and Vero to Atlantic City as they get into more shenanigans while on a “girls trip”. All of the previous characters end up in Atlantic City together which keeps the humor and mystery going.
These books are absolutely delightful and I would recommend this one one as well as the rest of the series.
