Thank you to St Martins Press and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
I will happily leave a review for this when the racist remarks by one of their employees is addressed. I want to support the author, but also want to know they don’t support this behavior.
Oh Finlay Donovan, you crazy lady.
Honestly, I should have reread the previous books in the series to truly understand the whole story, but the more you know. I don't even know how to describe the plot of this story without giving things away, because I'm not even 100% sure I follow the whole plot and how things shook out.
I'll be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of Finlay in this book. I don't love how she lies to Nick, but I also get the sense he knows she's hiding stuff and is somehow okay with it? I'm not sure I remember everything from previous books.
Read it if you want to continue the series, but that's about the only way I'd recommend reading it.
Thanks, NetGalley!
I love Finlay Donovan! This was a fabulous continuation of Finlay's crazy antics. She is hilarious!
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
"Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice" by Ellie Cosimano is a delightful addition to the series that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. As a fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the novel, finding the twists and turns to be refreshingly original. Cosimano weaves an intricate narrative that combines suspense, humor, and a touch of chaos, making it a truly engaging read. Finlay Donovan continues to be a compelling and relatable protagonist, and the story's unpredictable nature adds an extra layer of excitement. Despite feeling a little long or complicated at parts, I am continuing to enjoy the antics of these characters and can't wait to see what happens next.
Thank you Netgalley, MacMillan and the author the the free e-Arc in exchange for my honest review. I recently got a chance tj listen to the novella for book 3.5 and made me more excited to read this one. I love the series it's fun quick read and excited to listen to the audiobook soon.
I was worried this wouldn't live up to the hype of the first few books but it definitely does! Finlay is back with her dry humor, dangerous business, cop boyfriend, and everything in between. Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the ARC.
This book was just what my heart needed. I enjoyed the next book in the series. It still doesn’t beat the first book but it was a great addition. All my favorite characters, the comedy, the suspense and a couple twists I didn’t see coming. I enjoyed reading the next part of the story and the ending sets up for another book wonderfully.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC and I can’t wait until everyone can read the next book in the series. Out 04/2024.
4.5*
RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice by Elle Cosimano is the fourth book in the series that follows Finlay, a middle aged single mom of 2, and Vero, her children’s nanny, as they head to Atlantic City and continue to try to clean up their mess after accidentally getting involved with some serious criminal organizations.
This book was a cute, quick and easy read!! There are a lot of characters to keep up with, and I would’ve appreciated a little character map in the beginning of some sort to be honest. But it’s lighthearted, and a good time.
However, I think the Finlay Donovan series is getting a little bit too far fetched for me. In book one, it seemed more realistic, and now the plots and storylines are getting a little out of hand. I read online there’s going to be seven books in this series? That seems like a lot.. As of right now I’d probably still read book number five, but I’m not sure there’s enough interesting plots here to keep me continuing so we’ll see how that goes!
A quick, fun read that will having you laughing out loud. If you enjoy the Stephanie Plum series, you love this series too. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!
I have throughly enjoyed the Finlay Donovan series and this one does not disappoint! Finlay, Veronica, Finlay’s mother, kids AND her ex all road trip to Atlantic City to investigate. What could be the problem?
Told with Elle’s typical humor and with the series of mishaps we have come to expect, Finlay must solve the case, avoid the gang AND meet her book deadline!
Highly recommend!
I have read every single Finlay book and pretty much lost my mind when I got approved for this ARC. A huge thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this amazing book!
This book kicks off with Finlay and Vero fresh from the citizens police academy and hightailing it to Atlantic City to find Javi. Instead of just a “girl’s trip”, it quickly becomes a family affair.
I wasn’t exactly sure how I would feel about the setting in Atlantic City, but I absolutely loved it. I love the banter and the dry humor that is always entangled in these books as well as the characters I have come to love.
I hope there will be another book to savor!
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a delightful addition to the Finlay Donovan series. It’s such a hilarious and fun read filled with adventure. This book picks up right where book 3 left off, and Finlay and Vero are back at it again getting mixed up in criminal endeavors. All you favorite (and least favorite *cough* Steven) are back for a crazy trip to Atlantic City. I had so much fun reading this book and I’m excited to see that it looks like another book may be coming!
If you enjoyed the other books in the series you’ll definitely enjoy this one, too.
Thank you to netgalley for an arc of this book.
The besties are up to their usual shenanigans. I loved the first book because it was about a hot mess mom trying to put her life back together and being thrown into a ridiculous situation. I was hoping that this book would be more like the first. Instead what you get is two friends trying to deal with the mob. The kids are now watched by a nanny so It’s easy to forget Finlay is a regular mom. It’s an easy, funny read with a little action.
Taking off on a girl's trip to find Vero's missing boyfriend doesn't exactly work out as planned when Finlay has to bring the kids, her mom, and ex-husband along for the ride.
Mob bosses, crooked retired cop, and lots and lots of money at stake make for a twisted ride full of action. Finlay and Vero have a friendship I truly envy.
I love how things ALMOST wrap up perfectly, but there's always just a little something that keeps you on edge wanting to see what happens next.
This is one of my favorite series now. It really does keep getting better with each book. If you like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (and perhaps miss those early books that were so fantastic before they got stale and rehanshed) this is the series you need now.
Eagerly awaiting the next book and this one isn't even in bookstores yet!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy to read and review!
We love a good Finlay and Vero duo.
This book starts off where Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun leaves off with the girls heading to Atlantic City on a “girls weekend” in search of Vero’s missing boyfriend, Javi. Their girls weekend plans are quickly ruined when it turns into a little family getaway 😂
In true Finlay and Vero fashion, none of their plans go according to what they thought and they get caught up in all sorts of trouble when they discover two dead bodies. It’s crazy what the duo will go through to save Javi, including ending up with a dog named Kevin Bacon and facing off with a sketchy cop. But have no fear, Finlay’s hot cop boyfriend to the rescue.
I love that the book ends with a cliffhanger and can’t wait to see what this duo gets into with next book!
Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC to the fourth Finlay Donovan book!
This book comes out March 5, 2024 🎉
Definitely has its hilarious moments. It is a good think Finlay and Vero are fictional. If they were real, they'd be in jail and the kids in CPS custody!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Publishing for an advanced eARC of the newest installment in the Finlay Donovan series.
I truly feel like this book came back to its roots in a humor injected mystery. The elements I loved were; involving ALL of the characters, this particular series and mystery is 4 books long with this book so I'm sure I was one of many that really wanted to tie up any loose ends and finally get closure and involving all of the characters definitely helped to do that. The Atlantic City setting was so fun, especially for this comical group of characters. Throwing Vero, Finn, Susan, etc. Into a gambling/strip club atmosphere just add to the juicy flare that sets these apart from other novels. And that is mystery did FINALLY get closure, I felt that it was supremely drug out and it was good to wrap it up. However, it ended on a cliffhanger and although it could potentially be a new mystery it makes me worry that it won't deviate too far from the first four and I don't think it could continue in a well thought out way. Otherwise, it was fun and I did enjoy it!
Fun but not my favourite instalment of the series. Found this one very jumbled with so many side characters, trying to wrap things up etc just felt to fast with all of it. Will for sure continue with the series.
This book was amazing! I have loved every Finlay Donovan novel and found myself always counting down to the next release. Finlay and Vero absolutely crack me up and make me wish I had a best friend relationship like the two of them. I sincerely hope this series lasts forever.
If anyone thought Finlay and Vero couldn’t possible get up to any situations more chaotic than what they’d already landed themselves in, it’s time to buckle up because they definitely can.
This book picks up essentially right where the previous one left off with the ladies headed to Atlantic City. It becomes a family affair, and eventually a full-blown police affair as Finlay and Vero try to solve the mystery and get themselves out of sticky situation after sticky situation without getting caught. All the major players are back in this one with a few new faces added in as everything finally comes to a head.
Honestly, this series requires a ton of putting reality aside to escape into the absurd situations that Finlay manages to find herself, but that’s what makes it so fun. Every time you think she and Vero have finally found themselves in the situation they won’t be able to get out of, they always find a way and it’s usually as funny as it is ridiculous. I love the dynamic between the two of them as they always have each other’s back no matter what gets thrown at them. I do really wish there was more time spent with Finlay and Nick, and I wish she didn’t have to keep so many things from him, but there is an interaction between them that made me feel a bit better about it. I’m highly entertained by Vero and Javi’s relationship and can’t wait for more of them.
Without spoilers, some major storylines from the series get conclusions and answers in this book, but I’m pleased to say there are clear hints that there will be new paths of chaos to follow the ladies down in the future as well as some questions still left to be answered.
