Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a delightful addition to the Finlay Donovan series. It’s such a hilarious and fun read filled with adventure. This book picks up right where book 3 left off, and Finlay and Vero are back at it again getting mixed up in criminal endeavors. All you favorite (and least favorite *cough* Steven) are back for a crazy trip to Atlantic City. I had so much fun reading this book and I’m excited to see that it looks like another book may be coming!
If you enjoyed the other books in the series you’ll definitely enjoy this one, too.
Thank you to netgalley for an arc of this book.
The besties are up to their usual shenanigans. I loved the first book because it was about a hot mess mom trying to put her life back together and being thrown into a ridiculous situation. I was hoping that this book would be more like the first. Instead what you get is two friends trying to deal with the mob. The kids are now watched by a nanny so It’s easy to forget Finlay is a regular mom. It’s an easy, funny read with a little action.
Taking off on a girl's trip to find Vero's missing boyfriend doesn't exactly work out as planned when Finlay has to bring the kids, her mom, and ex-husband along for the ride.
Mob bosses, crooked retired cop, and lots and lots of money at stake make for a twisted ride full of action. Finlay and Vero have a friendship I truly envy.
I love how things ALMOST wrap up perfectly, but there's always just a little something that keeps you on edge wanting to see what happens next.
This is one of my favorite series now. It really does keep getting better with each book. If you like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (and perhaps miss those early books that were so fantastic before they got stale and rehanshed) this is the series you need now.
Eagerly awaiting the next book and this one isn't even in bookstores yet!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy to read and review!
We love a good Finlay and Vero duo.
This book starts off where Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun leaves off with the girls heading to Atlantic City on a “girls weekend” in search of Vero’s missing boyfriend, Javi. Their girls weekend plans are quickly ruined when it turns into a little family getaway 😂
In true Finlay and Vero fashion, none of their plans go according to what they thought and they get caught up in all sorts of trouble when they discover two dead bodies. It’s crazy what the duo will go through to save Javi, including ending up with a dog named Kevin Bacon and facing off with a sketchy cop. But have no fear, Finlay’s hot cop boyfriend to the rescue.
I love that the book ends with a cliffhanger and can’t wait to see what this duo gets into with next book!
Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC to the fourth Finlay Donovan book!
This book comes out March 5, 2024 🎉
Definitely has its hilarious moments. It is a good think Finlay and Vero are fictional. If they were real, they'd be in jail and the kids in CPS custody!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Publishing for an advanced eARC of the newest installment in the Finlay Donovan series.
I truly feel like this book came back to its roots in a humor injected mystery. The elements I loved were; involving ALL of the characters, this particular series and mystery is 4 books long with this book so I'm sure I was one of many that really wanted to tie up any loose ends and finally get closure and involving all of the characters definitely helped to do that. The Atlantic City setting was so fun, especially for this comical group of characters. Throwing Vero, Finn, Susan, etc. Into a gambling/strip club atmosphere just add to the juicy flare that sets these apart from other novels. And that is mystery did FINALLY get closure, I felt that it was supremely drug out and it was good to wrap it up. However, it ended on a cliffhanger and although it could potentially be a new mystery it makes me worry that it won't deviate too far from the first four and I don't think it could continue in a well thought out way. Otherwise, it was fun and I did enjoy it!
Fun but not my favourite instalment of the series. Found this one very jumbled with so many side characters, trying to wrap things up etc just felt to fast with all of it. Will for sure continue with the series.
This book was amazing! I have loved every Finlay Donovan novel and found myself always counting down to the next release. Finlay and Vero absolutely crack me up and make me wish I had a best friend relationship like the two of them. I sincerely hope this series lasts forever.
If anyone thought Finlay and Vero couldn’t possible get up to any situations more chaotic than what they’d already landed themselves in, it’s time to buckle up because they definitely can.
This book picks up essentially right where the previous one left off with the ladies headed to Atlantic City. It becomes a family affair, and eventually a full-blown police affair as Finlay and Vero try to solve the mystery and get themselves out of sticky situation after sticky situation without getting caught. All the major players are back in this one with a few new faces added in as everything finally comes to a head.
Honestly, this series requires a ton of putting reality aside to escape into the absurd situations that Finlay manages to find herself, but that’s what makes it so fun. Every time you think she and Vero have finally found themselves in the situation they won’t be able to get out of, they always find a way and it’s usually as funny as it is ridiculous. I love the dynamic between the two of them as they always have each other’s back no matter what gets thrown at them. I do really wish there was more time spent with Finlay and Nick, and I wish she didn’t have to keep so many things from him, but there is an interaction between them that made me feel a bit better about it. I’m highly entertained by Vero and Javi’s relationship and can’t wait for more of them.
Without spoilers, some major storylines from the series get conclusions and answers in this book, but I’m pleased to say there are clear hints that there will be new paths of chaos to follow the ladies down in the future as well as some questions still left to be answered.
I am starting to have mixed feeling about these books. I loved the first two. The third one got a little unrealistic and this one, at times, felt downright silly. There is no way Finley and Vero could get away with the stuff they do, but somehow they all pull it off, all while Finn is dating the investigating officer.
That said, the characters are likable and the plot is fun, so overall a good read!
The Finlay Donovan series are my all-time favorite, and the 4th book did not disappoint! A great combination of action and comedy with some really heartwarming characters. I really enjoyed how this ended, but I'm of course always hoping for another in the series!
Finlay Donavon does miss! This series is fun, funny and gripping. This may be the best one yet!
Elle Cosimano writes a fun loving story that allows the reader to live in a world of hilarious crime and gripping tales. The character development across all 4 novels (especially this one) makes the world that is created so real. I laughed, I cried and I felt like I was there and these were my people. Cosimano writes a story that allows moms and 30+ women to realize that they are more than the surface presents. Women are fearless, intensely smart and ahead of any man in the story.
Cosimano hit this out of the park! I can’t wait for the next one!!
Thank you to the publisher for a free copy of this book! I was so excited to get approved for the Netgalley of this 2024 release.
This series is just a lot of fun. I flew through this book, as always with this series. I love that each book we learn more about Vero and she's not just a side character. The involvement of Finlay's family was also fun in this book.
The case was very in depth, which I appreciated. It was not just some basic crime, but of course there are more bodies. There are always bodies. :) Cosimano truly writes a mystery that keeps your engaged.
Are some parts 100% unbelievable? Yes. Do I really care? Not really. Maybe just the garage scene. But as always, I highly recommend this seies.
I have loved this entire series, and this was no exception. It was so fun to go on a road trip adventure with them and see (some of) their loose ends tied up. Many of the events were fairly implausible, but Finlay and Vero are still some of my favorite characters.
And with that ending, I'm already looking forward to book #5 in the series.
Thank you to Net Galley and Minotaur Books for the ARC.
Finlay Donovan truly never gets old. Each and every installment in this series is incredible, and Finlay Donovan rolls the dice is no different. The twists that Elle puts in and the adventures that Vero and Finlay go on are the best. And can I just say reading this after getting to see Vero’s back story? Absolute chef’s kiss. The series ages like fine win and this one is no different. Elle is a masterful story weaver while still keeping things light-hearted and comical.
Besides the first one, I think this is my fav in the series yet! I loved the casino theme of this one and thought it was well done. Many of the characters are very likable, even ones the reader is initially led on to not like. Even though I’m not rooting for Steven, I liked his character arc and it gave him more of a personality rather than just awful husband and father (bc he’s definitely got that going for him, too). My one complaint would be that Vero is a bit annoying, but I honestly think that might be personal preference rather than poor writing. All in all 5 ⭐️! Thanks St. Martin’s and NetGalley for this arc :)
This was so full of suspense my anxiety couldn’t rest until I read the last page. I LOVE this series and I think each book keeps getting better. These are such likable, smart characters thrown into impossible, outrageous situations where the lines of right and wrong blur but their moral compass always points north. I think Elle Cosimano is a genius for building this world and I can wait to see where the adventure leads next. And the Hot Cop! I never knew closed door romance could be so spicy!
Such a fun continuation of the Finlay Donovan series! I continue to love the characters and am constantly amused by their antics! I can’t wait for the (hopefully) fifth book to come out!
Thank you NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the ARC! The latest in Finlay Donovan series, Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice takes us on a road trip to Atlantic City to find Javi and get back the Aston Martin (and maybe get Vero and Finlay out of hot water), but when Vero and Finlay stumble upon two dead bodies, they must find a way to keep themselves from being impicated, while trying to solve the remaining mysteries. This volume was slightly more satisfying than the last with more loose ends being tied, while still leaving a few things open. Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a fun romp of an adventure.
A girl's road trip to Atlantic city. Add in 2 kids and your mom, Then the ex-husband insists he tag along. Before it's complete, the new boyfriend who is a cop shows up with your sister. WHAT ELSE could go wrong? Two dead bodies you have to hide while you search for what they were hiding. Add in more law enforcement, more gangsters, a missing car that held some valuable items--then mix in sleuthing, more dead bodies, dirty cops, kids lost in the casino in the middle of the night. And you have Elle Cosimano's wrap up in Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice! A hilarious yet realistic cat and mouse game where lives and love are on the line. Do not miss this one! I can't wait to see what Elle Cosimano writes next!
