What a wild ride this one was! I feel so attached to Finlay and Vero and let me tell you this book STRESSED. ME. OUT. I was on edge the entire time thinking “This is it. They are definitely not getting out of this one this time.” Finlay and Vero are the dynamic duo that every story needs and I love their relationship.
This story begins exactly where we last left off and does not let up. Atlantic City did not know what it was in for when the gang showed up. The way this story wrapped up was so fun and I truly was not expecting things to go the way they did! I do wish we had a little more Nick, but that’s just the romance lover in me 🥹💕.
If you’ve been a fan of Finlay and Vero’s adventures, you will definitely enjoy this one.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur books for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. Be on the lookout for Finlay and the gang coming to you March 2024!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC!
I’ve read every book in the Finlay Donovan series and want to preface this with how much I love Finlay and Vero! Unfortunately, the third and fourth books just don’t have the same charm the first two books had for me.
This fourth book picks up exactly where the third book ends and is a continued predicament of Finlay and Vero’s troubles from books one through three, which continued to have open endings to every story line... There are SO many characters and SO many story lines in this book that I never really found myself rooting for anyone or that interested in uncovering the mystery.
You have to be able to suspend reality for all the crazy turns this book takes. I’m not sure I’ll be continuing on after this one as I think I may have just grown past my appetite for this kind of book.
This is the 4th book in the Finlay Donovan series. I really enjoyed books #1 and 2 with Finn and Vero's friendship and humor. It was fun keeping up with their adventures.
I started losing interest in the 3rd book and was hoping book #4 would be different. However, this book dragged on and the plot was too far fetched. There wasn't much character development either.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I thought that one was a little more far fetched than the others. The crazy antics of Finlay and Vero take us to Atlantic City ; whole family tags along on this adventure…….. what could possibly go wrong? It was a little over the top initially but it improved as it went along. This is a quick, fun read!
Thank You to NetGalley, St Martin’s Press, and Elle Cosimano for the opportunity to enjoy this ARC.
Get ready Atlantic City here comes Finlay and Vero.! This is the fourth installment of this series. What a fun ride with several different things going on at once. Let the adventures continue as I am all in! Thanks NetGalley for this audio eArc.
Finlay Donovan Rolls The Dice is the fourth installment of the Finlay Donovan series, and the antics continue to keep the reader entertained. Over the top suspense, hilarious antics, and hard to believe situations are what author Elle Cosimano specializes in.
This read is pure fun. The book picks up right where the last left off with Finlay and Vero desperately trying to dig themselves out of yet another sticky situation, and bodies are piling up all the way to Atlantic City.
Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC and opportunity to provide an honest review.
Finlay Donovan does not disappoint! Elle Cosimanos fourth installment of the Finlay Donovan series had me both laughing so hard I was crying to sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what could possibly happen next.
This book picks up where the third book left off, and begins with Finlay and Vero headed to Atlantic City to rescue Javi, who had been captured and held ransom by a loan shark willing to exchange him for the money Vero owes him, Add in Finlay’s annoying ex-husband Steven, their two kiddos, and Finlay’s mom tagging along on this “girls trip,” what could possibly go wrong?
Almost all of our favorite characters from books 1-3 make an appearance except for Mrs. Haggerty.. but don’t count her out just yet…!!!
From beginning to end this book had me captivated with equal parts suspense and hilarity with a plot that kept throwing surprises. AND now I am left waiting for the next addition in this series! Run, don’t walk, to preorder this book which is set for release March 5, 2024!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the advanced reader copy of this title! It made my whole month!
Findlay Donovan Rolls The Dice
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Author: Elle Cosimano
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Publish date: March 5th, 2024
Thank you so much to NetGalley, the author, and Minotaur Books for sending me an advanced copy in exchange for a review!
Findlay and Vero start off right where we left them in the last book. Following a ransom note, they head to Atlantic City to rescue Javi, Veros childhood crush, from a loan shark that Vero owes money to. Disguised as a much needed girls trip, every character decides to tag along. Between more dead bodies, strip clubs, and good cops/bad cops, this is the silliest Findlay Donovan book yet.
This is the fourth book in the Findlay Donovan Series, and I have to say, if you are looking for a silly, but intense mystery, this is a great series for you! I love how each book in the series starts off right where the last book ended. However, I do think this series should have been cut down to just three books. The author is amazing at continuing the plot line, and coming up with fun new trouble for the main characters to get into, but I think the story is getting a little far fetched now. Which one could argue is the point of the cozy mystery genre, but I think it can only go on for so many books before I disconnect from the series because it’s too hard to believe. The author did set up the ending to lead into a fifth book as well which I will read because I am invested in the characters now, but I do not think I will enjoy it as much as I did with the first three. All good things must come to an end at some point. Now to the positives. These books sure do make me laugh. Regardless of all the dead bodies, Findlay and Vero navigate their troubles with the funniest bickering and commentary. They will probably forever be my favorite cozy mystery character duo of all time. I am also really excited to read Veros short story that the author is releasing soon. Overall, I gave this book 3⭐️ because I love the characters so much, as well as the humor, but the plot is dragging on for me.
In the fourth novel of the series Finlay, Vero, and company travel to Atlantic City to find Javi. I enjoyed that this novel allowed us to see the characters in a new environment and also spend more time with some of the side characters. Plus seeing the relationship between Finlay and Nick blossom was great!
Finlay and Vero are back at it in the fourth book of the Finlay Donovan series and it was a wild ride in Atlantic City! Picking up right where the last book left off it was fast paced from the first chapter. The signature start to these books is always so fun and I have read the books with enough space in between for it to trick me every time.
With this being the fourth installment of the series I had high hopes and was not disappointed. This was just as fast paced, fun, and full of surprises as the first three. It makes me want to reread them and I am even more excited for Vero’s short story that’s coming out in a few days.
Read this series if you like romance, suspense, murder, and female friendships all rolled into one very humorous and well written series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the eARC!
I enjoyed this book and am loving this series. I did feel a little mental fatigue trying to keep up with all the characters and recall the past scenes from the first 3 novels because they build on each other and refer back to them. I think I would like it better if the future books were stand alone. I do love the series though.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for sending me an ARC of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice in exchange for an honest review.
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice picks up almost immediately after Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun. Soon-to-be-breakout author Finlay and her best friend and literal partner-in-crime Vero have to get to Atlantic City to try to negotiate with Marco, a New Jersey loan shark, who kidnapped Vero’s former and maybe future flame, Javi. But their plan is going to be more difficult than they hoped when Finlay’s ex-husband Steven, her mother, and her two young children insist on joining them on their trip. And their plan gets even more difficult when someone murders Marco, and several officers of the law—including Finlay’s new boyfriend Nick—also arrive on the scene to watch over Finlay and Vero. Is this the book where Finlay either finally gets caught or finally comes clean (I wouldn’t bet on either 😄).
The Finlay Donovan series is telling one long story, and Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is a continuation of the first three books. In addition to the ones above, this book brings back many of the other surviving characters: Cameron, the teen hacker; Georgia, Finlay’s sister; Georgia’s FBI girlfriend Sam; Joey and Charlie, Nick’s current and former partners; Russian mobster Feliks Zhirov and his right-hand woman Ekatarina Rybakov. And the novel ends on a cliffhanger that guarantees that the next book will tell the next part of the story—apparently involving Finlay’s nosy neighbor Mrs. Haggerty.
As with the earlier entries in the series, Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is not gritty, realistic crime fiction. This story was probably the busiest one in the series, maybe too busy. So much was happening between the different characters and storylines that it was a bit hard to keep straight at times. At its best, this series works because Finlay is a well-developed character who you can’t help but root for, the snarky banter between Finlay and Vero, and the chemistry between Finlay and Nick. I felt like this book was so plot-focused that it moved away from those elements. I still enjoyed the book, but I’m glad that several plot lines and characters were finally resolved in this book. Hopefully the next book will be a little funnier, and a little more character-focused. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Recommended.
Elle Cosimano did it AGAIN! I have thoroughly enjoyed the Finley Donovan series so far and this one added so much to the storyline. I loved the weekend getaway vibes but all the twist kept me wanting more!
I looove this series to the max, you have no idea.
I’m always happy when a new one comes out.
It is such a fun cozy hilarious thriller that you can’t help but fall in love with it. This needs to be a tv series! Thank you NetGalley!
Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is the fourth book in this series that follows the adventures of Finlay, a book author and mom to two, and her nanny Vero as they unexpectedly get caught up with the business of feared mob boss, Feliks Zhirov. In this fourth book it picks up right where the third book ended, with Javi kidnapped by Marco, a man that Vero borrowed money from years ago who has come to collect. Finlay and Vero come to the conclusion that they need to make their way to Atlantic City, disguising this rescue mission as a girls weekend. That's when things get sticky, trying to make excuses for the trip away she finds herself with some unexpected tag alongs....her mom, her ex-husband, and her two young kids.
As Finlay and Vero make their way to Marco's hotel room in search of Javi, they find themselves face to face with two dead bodies...in a state of panic the two need to come up with a plan using what they have in the hotel room. With the clues that they gather they figure out the next steps that they need to take to rescue their friend. As Finlay comes back to her hotel after seeing the 2 dead bodies, she finds herself come across another obstacle, Finlay's new fling/cop boyfriend Nick has come along with a gang of police officers to protect Finlay and find Feliks.
This book takes the reader on an absolute journey as we follow along as Finlay and Vero piece together clues and find out the mystery to who killed these people and where Javi is. The two together are incredibly funny and relatable as they find themselves in the most undesirable circumstances. I love reading their banter and their thought process as they uncover new things and seeing them achieve their goal in the end. I rate this book 4/5 stars and would recommend this entire series to people that want to read a book that will keep them on their toes and incorporate humor.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC!
Thank you to @netgalley and @MinotaurBooks for this ARC. The 4th book in the Finlay Donovan series and just as funny and cute as the first one. I don't want to give too much away but Finlay and her nanny Vero are off to solve another crime. They always find themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time or maybe the wrong place at the right time. This time in Atlantic City, they some how haul Finlay's mom, her ex Steven and her new boyfriend Nick with them. If you enjoy Janet Evanovich's books, this series is for you! #FinlayDonovanRollsTheDice #ElleCosimano #MinotaurBooks #March2024

I love the Finlay Donovan series and was so excited for the opportunity to read an advanced copy. Finlay and Vero are such fun characters and the adventures they go keep you guessing. I would recommend this book to anyone looks for a fun, quirky mystery that keeps getting better with every book. Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
💭 Ahhhhh man, I love the crazy adventures of Finlay and Vero. This is book 4 in the series, and I always think after every book, “okay but what more can they do in the next book that’s different but exciting?” & Cosimano never fails to prove to me that there IS more and it won’t be boring!
I have never LOL’d so hard reading a book as I have this one. The first 3 in the series were hilarious, but this one… this one takes the cake.
It hops right back in from where it left off in the previous story (so you definitely can’t read this as a stand alone), and it gets wild RIGHT AWAY.
I love that it’s action packed and full of surprises. If you’re going into this one expecting a realistic thriller, DONT. It’s the most far-fetched one of the series but good Lord, it works so well. A funny thriller with a bit of romance, a great bestie story and a lot of weird, fun, crazy family dynamics?! SIGN ME UP ALWAYS.
Hats off to the author, you killed it once again.
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martins Press for the advanced reader copy of this latest installment of the Finlay Donovan series.
The Finlay Donovan series is a fast paced, laugh out loud read. I recommend it to all kinds of readers. None of yet to be disappointed with the recommendation.
This latest installment does not disappoint. I had been anticipating this read this year. It actually had a few moments where I could not put it down!
I think this series is great not just for adults but for young adults and some upper middle grade readers.
I had to find out the next chapter in Finlay Donovan's life... the most unlikely of crime solvers and yet so adept at navigating stickybsituations with grace and accidental ease. The fourth installment might be my favorite of the follow ups... heated up romance a d lots of action! Still more questions to be answered... we'll see you next time!
All of the series is an easy, quick read. Perfect for the beach or to read while traveling when distractions might divide your attention buy you still want to be entertained.
