After finding books 2 and 3 to be a bit of a letdown, this book came back and made me fall in love with all the characters and story again. This time we see Finlay and Vero off to Atlantic City with the family in tow. This book was fast paced, and I thought it would have been the perfect place to wrap up the series, but with the cliffhanger at the end I can assume another book is coming. I was happy to actually laugh out loud again, and I’m rooting for Finlay and Nick to be end game. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I've loved every single book in the Finlay Donovan series and was SO excited to get my hands on an early copy of book 4 - Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice! This one packs even more fun in between the covers: more mystery, more risk, more romance, and more questions (some of them answered and some of them not...are we teasing a book 5? WE NEED IT!).
I will say these two ladies are getting even more comfortable with unalive bodies - to a degree that I almost started skimming, because my stomach couldn't take it. Finlay doesn't back down from a challenge, that's for sure, and I loved, loved, loved seeing more of Vero's back story and her relationship with Javi. Absolutely adorable. And even though there's even more delicious Nick scenes, we need more. It's never enough. Keep 'em coming!
I don't know about the rest of Finlay's fans, but I'm ready to see this one on the big screen. Until then, crossing all my fingers and toes book 5 is in the works, because I need to know what Steven is hiding - and I bet it's juicy!
Finlay and Vero are at it again! Under the guise of a girl's weekend, they plan a trip to Atlantic City to find a stolen car and Vero's crush while evading a dangerous loan shark who has a vested interest in their activities. Unfortunately, the loan shark isn't the only one they'll have to hide their activities from when Finlay's mother and her jealous ex-husband decide to tag along. Because, as we all know, Finlay doesn't have the best luck and this does not end up being the only complication for the weekend.
As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed the latest installment of the Finlay Donovan series. Finlay and Vero are so engaging and well-matched as partners in crime. I blew through their hijinks in this story. Elle Cosimano finds ways to draw out the storyline from the first book all the way through this one in ways that connect in a way that works so well. Some of the complications in this book were on the farfetched side but that made them all that much more fun.
I look forward to the next installment of this series and would recommend this series to anyone who wants a fun, almost cozy, mystery from the other side of the law.
This was another fun addition to the Finlay Donovan world. Of course, you get the wacky stunts and maneuverings of characters you’ve grown to love over the series, but you also learn more about them, too. Great mystery!
I have been tempted on a few occasions so far to give a book a six-star rating to express the timeless quality of the effect that story has had on me and the jaw-dropping uniqueness of this author’s writing style has me in their mere clutches! I simply devoured this book.
These books are just pure fun! I was so stoked to get an ARC to read about what Finlay is up to next- and this won’t disappoint for all you Donovan fans! Writing is consistent, storyline is the usual fun and quirky hot mess express (in a good way!)
Thank you NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review!
All Finlay and Vero wanted was a quick trip to Atlantic City to take care of business: get Vero’s crush Javi away from his kidnappers and get a car back. Get in, get out, move on with their lives. But things get complicated when they get a couple tagalongs – Finlay’s ex-husband Steven and her mother (along with Finlay’s kids). And then they end up babysitting a dead body just before hot cop Nick and his crooked ex-partner show up to try to intercept Russian mobster.
Yeah, things are very, very complicated. The book moves at a breakneck pace with action from start to finish, and the wit we’ve come to expect from the Finlay Donovan series. Finlay and Vero get themselves in all sorts of precarious situations and, with their smarts and a lot of luck, manage to squeak through. It’s a rollicking good time.
There were a few times when the plot got too confusing – too many crimes and criminals (and lies) to keep track of. But it all ended up making sense and even hinted at what’s to come in the next book.
At the risk of repeating myself, I am not usually drawn to cozy mysteries. I can’t seem to help myself with the Finlay Donovan series, though. Every time I think Finlay and Vero can’t get in more trouble, Elle Cosimano comes up with new and even more comical ways to put them in danger. The whole family is involved in this one and it’s hilarious. Loved it and all the Finlay Donovan books!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books for this complimentary ARC. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A great author and a great book. After reading this title, I definitely what to read the rest of this author's books. They are quirky, full of fun and just enjoyable to read!! I highly recommend this author and this book. I look forward to many more fun books to read in the near future. Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy
A lot was riding on this book for me. I enjoyed the first two Finley Donovan books but the third started tanking it for me. I was very concerned this was going to be a drawn out series that should’ve stopped long ago and kept going downhill. However, this book redeemed everything. I questioned if this was a 4 or 5 star, but it made me excited about the series again. All of the concerns I had with book 3 were resolved with this. And then some. I feel like the storyline wrapped well (like book 1) that I could stop reading but also I’m left wanting the next book. I’m very excited about Finley again!! Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC.
Finlay Donovan, a series I cannot get enough of and Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice fell right in line with the three other books. As usual Finlay and Vero are up to their tricks and this particular book had me laughing out loud esp any with Kevin Bacon! I love the side characters as well! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who not only already love Finn and Vero but to anyone who is looking for a comedy, love story and mystery! Elle Cosimano does it again!
Finlay, Vero, and the family including ex husband Steven hit Atlantic City. What to expect Chaos per usual! I absolutely love FInlay & Vero’s relationship. There was a ton going on in the story. However, this book was nothing short of a whirlwind hilarious adventure. It wrapped up a few things but there is room for a new ride with Finlay!
I love the finlay donovan series and all the characters. I love the friendship Finn and Vero have, and I think the books are so fun. However, this one just missed the mark for me. I feel like there were too many characters and the plot was getting convoluted. Overall, I still think it was a fun read, and would read the next one. 3.5.
I'd like to thank Netgalley for the ARC of this book. In exchange, I am providing my honest review.
This book is generally a 3.5, but I'm rounding up for good behavior.
Once again, I am treated to the mental snack food that Elle Cosimano provides with her Finlay Donovan series. These books aren't thinkers, but they are entertaining with all of their hijinks and chaos. I'll be honest, I was looking forward to this just because they provide such levity from the traditional day to day nonsense I deal with.
I will say, that there were some moments when just too much was going on, and things felt overly complicated. But, I was happy to see some plotlines wrap up. I feel like the series needs something fresh, so hopefully the next book will provide that.
I have been the biggest fan Finlay Donovan and I was beyond excited to get a chance to read Elle Cosimano’s next installment of the series. Fun, easy mystery, just like all the others, filled with many laughs. I am excited for the turn the next one may take (I won’t say anymore so I don’t give away any spoilers). The only thing I could gripe about would be the timeline of this book- I found it hard to follow. But all in all, loved the story and can’t wait to see what else Finlay will get into in the future!
Thanks to NetGalley & St Martin’s Press for the ARC!
I love all the FD books they are easy to read, make you laugh but have an interesting plot as well. I hope this isn’t the last one.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Elle Cosimano does it again. This 4th book in the Finlay series is so entertaining, hilarious, and fun as Finlay, Vero, her mother, her kids, and her ex husband Steven venture to Atlantic City. The result? Dead bodies, blowing up a building, and her police boyfriend Nick showing up at all the wrong times.
Absolutely love this series! Must read.
As always Finlay and Vero are up to their antics. Living their life's of crime while remaining funny. This book will keep you on your toes while making laugh and giving you a tad bit of romance. The plot will feel repetitive at times but the twist and laugh keep you entertained.
Finlay and Vero are back at it again with a lot of chaos and somehow still not suspected by the police. I enjoyed this one so much more than the last two for some reason. The friendship between Finlay and Vero, Steven finally admitting his wrongs, the whole scene with Javi, and even sweet Cam. I just loved it!!
FINALLY, after four books of the same story with no conclusions but many added characters, Finlay Donovan reaches a somewhat satisfying end to her adventure with her live-in babysitter Vero. My beef with the last two books in the series continued with this one. A very short time period since the series began. That Finlay and Vero always escape the most dangerous of situations. That the cops never suspect them. That more and more characters are added in each book while continuing the same story, making it difficult to keep everyone straight, but at least in this book, most of the mysteries and bad guys are satisfactorily put to bed. There’s still a few questions remaining. And a new body is discovered on the last page. But at least the major players from the first four books seem to have been taken care of.
