Thank you to NetGalley, the Publishers, and Elle Cosimano for an ARC of Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice! I had bought the 3rd book as soon as it came out - but it on hold and so glad I did because I was able to read these back to back without forgetting anything lol! Oh my GOSH! This book was everything. I was a little hesitant at first because sometimes I get mad at Finlay, but this was the BEST one in the series yet. It had, as always, everything and more! I love the character development with Finlay as each book goes on and I got so much Vero that I didn’t know I could get. I for one, am also jealous of their friendship. I don’t want to give any spoilers away, but Finlay made some good choices in this book as well 🤣. I cannot wait for the next one (I hope??) to come out!
Each of the books in the series are better than the one before. Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book. I loved it!!
Finlay and Vero are back! Along with the other mad cast of characters. This time they are headed to Atlantic City to try to find the car that was stolen from them and to try to clear their names. Nothing is easy or straightforward when it comes to Finlay and Vero. Another enjoyable read. It ties up really nicely at the end, and I almost panicked when I thought it was the last of the Finlay Donovan books. But just when you think it's over....
Finlay Donovan installment four was, as always, a lot of fun. It picked up right where three left off, packing a lot of action into one weekend. It seems as if a fifth book will be on the way in late 2024 or early 2025 as things were left on a bit of a cliffhanger. I’m interested to see how things evolve with Finlay and Vero as well as with Finlay and Nick. It seems like there should be a reckoning with the truth soon. And as always, I need Steven to learn how to respect a boundary. Even though this book attempted to give him a small redemption by finally realizing how garbage he is, he’s still garbage. I also need the police to get it together. How can you not see all the craziness happening right in front of your face as a detective? Absurd.
Let me start by saying that I loved this series so much! But I had to DNF at 35% of this one. I was so disappointed because I wanted to like it so much. Maybe if I would’ve read it right after book three, I would’ve liked it more. But I was very confused honestly of what was going on. There was a recap, but I didn’t feel like enough to truly remember book 3 and this one picks up immediately after. I’ll still recommend this series, but book 4 was not for me unfortunately.
Another exciting and humorous Finlay installment. This time, the antics of Finn and Vero lead them to Atlantic City while they chase down loan sharks and dodge the Russian mob.
This was another fun Finlay novel filled with plenty of laugh out loud moments and lots of Vero (the best character, in my opinion). Glad to have lots of returning favorites as well (Javi and Cam in particular). I'm sure that there will be a 5th novel and I will happily read it as this is probably my favorite campy, cozy mystery series.
(Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC).
4.5/5 stars
If you liked the first two Finlay Donovan books, you’ll like this one. It’s the same sort hijinks with Finlay, Vero, and the usual cast of characters in a different setting: Atlantic City.
It was nice to see a little bit of growth in some of the characters. Overall, it was a fun, quick read.
Finlay and Vero are at it again! They must go on a road trip to Atlantic City but with danger lurking around every corner no one is letting them go alone. They are joined by Finlay’s mother, ex husband, and their 2 kids. How will they rescue the kidnapped with all the extra company? Well it gets even more difficult when the rest of the crew finds their way to Atlantic City (even hot cop, Detective Nicholas Anthony). Will Finlay and Vero solve the case or will these amateur sleuths be stopped?
Elle Cosimano’s writing is excellent. The wit and banter that we all know, and love continues. There is humor and thrilling aspects that will keep you reading (and keep you guessing). This is one of my favorites in the series. If you loved the first one, you will love this one just as much.
Thank you to NetGalley and Elle Cosimano for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Finlay Donovan books have always been high on my list of favorite series and book four does not disappoint. It picks up immediately where book three left off, so be sure to read them in order. The ridiculous situations Finlay and Vero continue to find themselves in will keep you entertained and laughing throughout.
Finlay and Vero start out on a roadtrip to Atlantic City to settle Vero’s debt with Marco and find Javi and the Aston. But what would a roadtrip be without the addition of Finlay’s children, ex husband and mother? Shortly after their arrival, they discover themselves in the middle of more murders and crimes. The book takes a fun twist when Finlay’s sister, boyfriend and multiple other police officers arrive.
I really enjoyed learning about Vero and Javi’s back story in this installment. And of course it ends on a huge cliffhanger, which indicates we are in for another great adventure soon! Already looking forward to book five! Thank you to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for an ARC!
In usual fashion, the newest installment of the Finlay Donovan series hit the mark. The author consistently delivers a funny, quirky and relatable, yet mysterious story that is a cozy, entertaining read.
Yet another super fun installment in the Finlay saga! This was my second favorite after the first book…funny, ridiculous, nonstop hijinks, some cute lil romance moments, and wrapping up some of the previous storylines. Really enjoyed this one!
I was beyond excited when I got approval for the ARC of this one. This series is so fun to read, I literally love reading/laughing at the misadventures of Finlay Donovan. They give me a little of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series vibes (which I also loved). Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice picks up right where the last one ended. Finlay and Vero end up in Atlantic City trying to right the wrongs that they stumble upon and bring everyone along for the ride this time.
Finlay and Vero seem to attract trouble everywhere they go. I think that this book, along with the first three, are great for a quick read. The plot is great, I love the twists and little dingers that Elle Cosimano throws into the mix. The characters continue to develop in this one and you see a lot more of the relationships and interactions, which I absolutely loved. I honestly can't wait for the next installment to see what shenanigans Finlay ends up in.
Rated up for 4.5 Stars.
Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books and Elle Cosimano for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Publication Date for Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice is 05 March 2024. Don't miss this hilarious adventure.
Finlay and Vero are so entertaining. The things they get themselves into, the solutions they come up with are great. Keeps you into the story, waiting to see what happens. Stayed up too late finishing this one. And the ending...
.
Received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
Finlay, Vero, Steven, the kids, Finlay’s mom and Nick all in Atlantic City, oh my!!!
The fourth book starts up right where the last book left off, and this is probably the wildest story yet.
Gambling, strippers, bodies, parties, and a dog, what could go wrong???? I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to see what comes next!!
4 stars! I have loved of the Finlay Donovan books! They are so fun and they're not like anything else I've read.
This book picks up right where the last one left off! Finlay and Vero leave the police academy and go to Atlantic City to hunt down the loan shark who has it out for Vero. Of course Finlay and Vero stumble upon a couple of dead bodies and decide they have to dispose of them. Unfortunately for Finlay and Vero, Steven, Finlay's mom, Nick, Georgia, Sam, and Charlie are all also in Atlantic City.
As usual, you can expect Finlay and Vero to get into hilarious shenanigans as they try to wiggle their way out of trouble without getting caught! I was giggling throughout this book - especially the strip club scene!
I also enjoyed getting to see more of Javi and Finlay's mom! As always, the dialogue will keep you laughing throughout!
I didn't love this book quite as much as the others, but it was still really good! Its been awhile since I read the 3rd book, so it took me a little while to remember what happened and who was who with all the characters! I definitely needed a refresher! Finlay and Vero have been through a lot! I also feel like after 3 books, Finlay and Vero should be making better decisions. I've been listening to this series on audio until this book and I think narrator just does a fantastic job. This might be a case where the audio version works better for me!
I'm excited to see how this series continues! And find out what Steven's hiding!!!
Thank you to Minotaur books and NetGallery for the eARC!
This book gave me so much closure that book 3 left me hanging with! It was back to the signature Finlay Donovan storyline, and still requires a hefty suspense of reality to fully enjoy. The surprise at the end of this book as me hopeful for a supporting character novella at least :-) I really enjoyed this full series and am excited to see what else Elle Cosimano has up her sleeve for future books!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.
I was ECSTATIC when I received an ARC for the newest installment in the Finlay Donovan series! I immediately fell in love with the first book and this one was just as spectacular!
So I don’t want to spoil the book, but I’ll say there was even more chaos involving casinos, loan sharks, iced bodies, and plenty of hot action! This book was everything I wanted in the story of my favorite non-detective! I’m so grateful to Minotaur & St Martins Press for giving me the chance to read this book!
Finlay and Vero are back for another fun twisty tale that picks up right where book number three left off. We find our intrepid sleuths on the highway to Atlantic City, where they are going to find the stolen Aston Martin and the kidnapped Javi... with Mom, Steven and the kids in tow. (I will not spoil how they all ended up headed there together, but as always, Cosimano has an excellent way of getting all her characters into the places she wants them... which is generally all together, with some characters dodging some of the others. As with the other books in this series, the book is hard to put down. This is not a "I will read to the end of the chapter" kind of book because each one leaves you needing to turn the page to see what happens next. I continue to adore these characters who are perfectly imperfect, silly, zany and a little bit crazy. I can't say more without spoilers, so I won't as I do not want to spoil the fun!
Elle Cosimano is an excellent storyteller, who delivers real characters inside a crazy, fast-paced and ever more revealing tale. However, you won't totally see the pieces fall in place, until the end. I cannot wait for the next installment. There will be another one... right?!?
Thank you to Netgalley, Minotaur books (an imprint of Sr. Martin's Publishing Group), and of course the author, for giving me the opportunity to ready this e-galley in exchange for an honest review.
** spoiler alert ** The fourth book in the Finlay Donovan series starts off right in the middle of an unintentional crazy family road trip. Finlay and Vero set off with to Atlantic City to settle a deal with a loan shark that Vero has found herself indebted to. Using the cover of a "girls weekend" gets tricky when Finlay's mother, ex-husband and kids tag along. Even worse, the girls find themselves caught up in the aftermath of a double-homicide. This book is filled with adventure, romance, and humor as you follow Finlay and Vero's wild trip.
MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5 stars rounded up.
This book was great, it really brought all of the same joy and excitement back that I had while reading the first one. Per usual it was full of bad luck, misunderstandings and hijinks, but that is what you come to expect and love about Finlay Donovan novels.
Usually in a book series or movie sequel, the storyline of having to go on a trip is my least favorite. But in this novel I found it really fun and delightful. We got to be introduced to some great new characters, but also surrounded by the same wonderful characters from the previous books.
The storyline with Finlay and Nick really heats up in this one, especially with the added tension of Finlay's ex-husband, Steven, trying to get her back. Tensions rise with Finlay and both men in her life, as she hides her whereabouts from Nick throughout the whole book, and avoids Steven's advances.
Overall this would be my second favorite book in the series. Not much can beat the feelings I had while reading the first one.
I would highly recommend reading this book if you are a fan of the series, and in need of a great action-packed, but still somehow comforting mystery novel.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the advanced reader's copy.
