THe art of writing letters. These three stories bring people together but writing letters. It was a joy reading the stories. they are sweet romances
The book has 3 stories written by different authors. The cover is very nice.
a) Love Letter Courtship - Shelley Shepard Gray
"Jenni, Matthew seems especially eager to see tonight. Don't keep him waiting" They know each other since they are young, they love each other, they are engaged, but seems they don't know each other very much. Matthew has troubled family and he obscure it from other persons, also to Jenny. When the young couple starts to write letters to each other, it grows and love more.
b) S.W.A.K - Charlotte Hubbard
Aunt Minerva is in need of help and ask Vera and Eddie to come to live with her.
Eddie receives love letters, he is not happy about it. Sincerity is important.
c) The Wrong Valentine - Rosalind Lauer
It's Valentine time. All amish people, about all girls, are excited to handmade Valentine cards to gift them to their dear people and boys.
"Martha was his age (Mose), but in a different place in her life"
"He was walking in his own shoes, choosing his own path"
This volume consists of three short novellas by experienced authors of Amish fiction. The stories are clean, with an overt Christian message that is not preachy. Readers can learn a lot about Amish courtship and the Amish culture by reading these stories. In each of them, a couple is united through letters, thus beginning their courtship. However, the road to love is seldom smooth, as these couples find out through mishaps, mistaken identities, and misdelivered missives.
Readers who enjoy sweet romance novels, with interesting twists and turns, as well as happy endings, will find these stories to their liking. Each novella can be read in one sitting.
I received this book from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
A delightful and heartwarming collection of 3 Amish romance stories. It was a light and comforting read.
Many thanks to Kensington and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This collection of Amish romances is beautifully done. I enjoyed reading about these unique individuals and their letters.
"Amish Love Letters" is a good fit for readers who enjoy heartfelt stories about the power of written communication, romantic pursuit, and the pursuit of meaningful connections in the Amish community.
I really enjoyed Amish Love Letters by Shelley Shepard Gray, Charlotte Hubbard, and Rosalind Lauer and the nostalgia it gave me about letters. I loved the anthology and the theme of letters that is each of the three stories. Charlotte Hubbard and Rosalind Lauer are new-to-me authors, but Shelley Shepard Gray is a favorite go-to author of mine. I loved reading all of the stories in the Amish Love Letters and found it to be a fun and much needed escape. I highly recommend Amish Love Letters by Shelley Shepard Gray, Charlotte Hubbard, and Rosalind Lauer. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.
I love Shelley Shepard Gray and I haven't read the other two authors before but this was a great trilogy of stories. I love Amish stories so they had me at that, but each one was written so well and they were the perfect length with the perfect storyline to be just enough and leave me satisfied. Great stories!
I do love great Amish fiction novellas. For this particular book, I was drawn in by the authors' names and not the cover art. The cover art was just okay, but nevertheless I was not deterred.
The first story - Love Letter Courtship - was beautiful. Life's hardships can keep us from sharing our true selves and experiences with someone we care about. Thankfully, the young man in the story was able to reveal the issues he faced at home and the young lady was drawn closer to him. So, when they figured out they loved one another it was a TRUE love from the heart birthed from truth.
The second story - Sealed with a Kiss (S.W.A.K.) - was a little farfetched for me. The coincidence of there being TWO Fannies who pined for the heart of the same young man, used the same style of pink stationary and had the same handwriting may make sense in the Amish world, but it fell flat for me. Perhaps its because I am "English."
The third/last story - The Wrong Valentine - was quite sweet. I believe that the widowed young mother and the previously "bad" Amish young man needed to have a clever way to connect with each other. I actually loved this story the best of the three!
Thank you for my complimentary copy of this book.
Amish Love Letters
A love letter courtship
This was such a loving story about a couple that thought that knew each other well but found through letters to each other that they didn’t know each other as well as they thought they did! Enjoy this short story to see the outcome of their letter writing to each other.
SWAK
Eddie has a young Amish girl, Fannie, that is constantly sending him letters demanding his attention of marriage to her. He tries to ignore her and he and his sister go visit a relative and meets another girl with the same first name but too shy to talk to him and leaves him notes. Confused and thinking it is the other Fannie, how will he solve this mess? Read this delightful short story for an enjoyable read!
The Wrong Valentine
This is such a heartwarming story that shows that sometimes loves is standing right in front of you. This was a great book!
This is a sweet trio of short stories for a romantic, clean read. Shelley Shepard Gray brings us a young couple who have been 'courting' for several months. Her family expects they will get engaged but when Matt asked Jennie to marry him, despite having feelings for him for years, she realizes they don't really know one another. Love Letter Courtship is an excellent story of a journey for two singular people. They need to get to know one another, to accept each other's challenges and discover real love. I appreciated the wisdom Jennie had under the circumstances. The two very different families make things interesting, too.
I love anything Charlotte Hubbard writes with characters who live at Promise Lodge. Eddie Brubaker is excited for a change to be able to travel there with his sister so they can aid the community after a devastating tornado. He's trying to run away from a big problem that just happens to surface in his new home. There is character development here that I appreciate despite it being a short story. Quiet little Fannie Kurtz finally gets to show Eddie how she feels about him in S.W.A.K. Hubbard has this grand sense of humor that is priceless in her writing and it shows in this story.
Rosalind Lauer Young offers The Wrong Valentine to readers for the heart-touching story of twenty-two-year-old widow Martha Lambright. The young mother fills her days with work and responsibility. When she decides to help teens that she works with to make Valentines, one of her own gets misplaced into the hands of Mose Troyer. This mishap leads to a chain of cards and messages that could change their lives. But it's a mistake. I really like the story. The eye-opening lessons learned make for an endearing romance story.
I received an advanced reader's copy of this book from Kensington through NetGalley and this is my own unsolicited opinion of the collection. I enjoyed this quick read and recommend it for readers who enjoy thought provoking romance any time of the year.
Included in this collection of novellas are three sweet love stories that are predictable but also surprising at times. I really enjoyed how each couple got together via the seemingly lost art of written correspondence, with some misunderstanding and a little conflict along the way. The characters are all lovable and well-developed, even though their stories are short. The conflict in each story is resolved in a believable and satisfying way. I loved venturing into the world of love letters and enjoyed this quick read immensely.

Three beautiful love stories! All most definitely wonderful but different in their own way. Loved all of them! I rated them 5 stars but would go higher if I could! Very well done Shelly Shepard Gray!
Fairly predictable rom com but it was still a good read that I enjoyed it. It was also a quick read.
This book contains three different novellas by three different authors. I enjoyed reading each one of them. They were all amazing. The common theme of each novella is letter writing. All the novellas were well written. They kept me interested from start to finish. Each story can be read in any order. I'm looking forward to reading more novellas like these.
I have always loved the simplicity of letter writing. These three stories drew me in immediately. I found myself smiling throughout this book and feeling that “warm cozy” love in the air feeling. Everyone will enjoy reading about falling in love through letter writing, handmade Valentines, and of course the few mishaps and misunderstandings along the way!
I received this copy from NetGalley for my honest review. Thank you so much also to the authors and publisher
I enjoyed the three novellas with a Valentine/Love theme. I love the lost art of writing letters in the stories. Will reread it again im sure
The art of letter writing is almost obsolete. However, the value of letter writing is exemplified in Amish Love Letters by Shelley Shepard Gray, Charlotte Hubbard, and Rosalind Lauer. With the assistance of letter writing, a relationship is enhanced, another relationship runs away to Promise Lodge (yes, it's THAT Promise Lodge), and a third relationship begins to bloom when, accidentally, a letter is received by the wrong person. Oh, what magic there is in a letter. A copy was provided for my review, but all opinions are my own.
I absolutely love Shelley Shepard Gray. This book was just as good as all of the other ones. She has a way to pull you in from start to finish. The other authors in this collection of 3 love stories did an amazing job too. I will be checking out their book as well now. These stories are romantic, clean and make you realize what's important in life. I would definitely recommend this sweet trio novella book.
Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Book for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.
