The Dead of Winter is full of interesting characters with unique abilities, told from the perspective of a strong female main character driven by a desire for revenge against the crown. While some of the relationship dynamics feel a bit rushed toward the beginning of the book, they even out toward the second half and emphasize the "found family" element of the story. The pacing keeps the reader engaged and the plotline stays intriguing throughout. Thank you to Arietta Charles and NetGalley for the ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley and Ar Jetta Charles LLC for the opportunity to read rate and review this arc which will be available September 30,2023.

Watching your brother be framed then executed would make any sister rise up to harm a king. Street savvy Denya is a likeable strong character in a fleshed out world of corrupt kingdoms, a vault, a masked man and a revolt against tyranny. Fast read. Well plotted and thoroughly enjoyable

A fast paced story that kept me throughly entertained. I really enjoyed the plot of Denya and the Winter siblings on a heist and going against the crown. The first half read like a six of crows level heist which I enjoyed. The focus on the romance which I wasn't personally too keen on, Denya and Cadair was a bit dry.

However I absolutely loved Argo and Sterling as their own characters and as a couple dynamic! Their relationship had me invested as Argo Winter is a cunning morally grey character. A new favourite character of mine. I'd love a book with his pov if the author ever considered expanding this universe, or give us a novella despite it being well enough fleshed out as a standalone.

This was a fantastic fantasy, I recommend for fans who enjoy heists plots, political revolutions along with explorations of different social backgrounds.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
