The queen of thrills is back following The Coworker with her latest dazzling wild standalone game of cat-and-mouse psychological thriller, THE TEACHER. If you are a fan of the author, like millions of others like myself, you drop everything when you see a Freida McFadden new book.

Holy Moly! She shocks, she surprises, she entertains. With her wildly imaginative mind, she dazzles her fans again. You can expect deceit, revenge, secrets, unreliable narrators, and a roller coaster MIND-BENDING adventure.

The author grips you from the Prologue with the opening line: "Digging a grave is hard work." So we know we have a dead body, we assume, or why dig a grave? Right? Maybe...

There is a lot of drama between students and teachers at the local high school. Meet math teacher Eve Bennett, age 30, married to older hunky hubby, and fellow teacher Nate Bennett. He has always fancied himself a poet. They teach at Caseham High School.

Eve knows she is out of her league with Nate, but she is younger ✔ and loves designer shoes, 👠especially Jimmy Choo stiletto pumps, Christian Louboutins, and Louis Vuitton. So she has good taste and loves high heels since she is only foot two. She is OBSESSED with shoes and stashes them away from her hubby's prying eyes. You must have some outlet with a hubby like Nate.

Plus, Eve likes the shoe salesman, Jay, at Simons's (wink, wink), if you know what I mean. 😉

Her hubby talks about filling the house with children, but she is unsure they will achieve that on their current intimacy schedule. Three kisses per day, sex once a month, and Nate is always the one who drives (the car that is).

Told from alternating tension-filled POVs: Eve (wife/teacher) and Addie (16-year-old student). Eve is concerned when she learns that Addie Severson, a student who allegedly had an affair with a math teacher, Art, who resigned the year earlier —is now in one of her classes.

Of course, Addie says nothing happened, but her classmates bully her, and the staff does not know who is telling the truth. Then the worst happens: Addie is also in Nate's class, and they bond over poetry. He even invites her to join Reflections, the poetry magazine meeting.

Eve has a terrible feeling about this girl. Let the games begin...

Addie also has a BIG problem. Kenzie Montgomery is the most popular and beautiful girl in their junior class. She is a bully, and no one ever stands up to Kenzie. She ruins Addie's everyday life.

Addie is excited her English teacher (Nate) loves Poe as much as she does. Addie is a troubled girl and the daughter of an abusive alcoholic who finally drank himself to death. Addie never accused Art of anything, but his reputation was ruined. She used to hang out with Hudson, but now he is one of the popular kids.

Things heat up. Demands are made. Fear, lies, secrets, and anxieties rise to the surface, gaslighting at its finest. Infatuations. Obsessions. Affairs. Addictions.

The author keeps you glued to the pages with the triangle tension of Addie, Nate, and Eve. Addie is trying to get over a scandal and bullying. Meanwhile, Eve has to deal with her marriage problems. TRUST NO ONE.

Freida's star power shines with each book and her signature style of fast-paced storytelling, dark humor, witty characters, short chapters, and the unexpected TWISTS and jaw drops! That final twist is Killer!

Holy Cannoli! THE TEACHER has it all! You will laugh out loud as you go back and forth with love/hate, waiting for the final ball drop and knife twist. I always love her Epilogues! Please do not take this one too seriously; it is FF and meant for fun and wow factors.

As always, THE TEACHER is highly entertaining, standout, a clever plot, humor—and blurs the lines between right and wrong. Another domestic suspense winner by the queen of thrills!

Wickedly delicious. Be sure to get some sleep before starting. You will not be able to put it down. I finished up at 5 am. I would love to see Eva in future books and check up on her shoes! I cannot wait for The Housemaid is Watching, coming June 11, 2024!

Thanks to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the gifted, advanced digital reading review copy for an honest opinion. I look forward to listening to the audiobook narrated by the fabulous Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth. #CoverLove

A five-star read by Freida McFadden! The Teacher is all sorts of wrong and twisted but there is more to the story that keeps you turning pages - what happened and who is lying? Who do you trust - the student or the teacher? Its a wild ride, that's for sure!

I could not put this book down. Freida Mcfaddens new book is both exciting and thrilling and had me shocked throughout the whole book. I could never anticipate what was going to happen next and the book had me astounded at every new revelation that came to light. Her use of different Personas in the book was very interesting to read and I would definitely recommend this book to everyone whether you like mysteries, thrillers or romance.

Another great thriller by Freida McFadden. Addie is dreading going back to high school after the death of her father and an incident she was involved with at school. Not only has ostracized by her classmates, but he best friend won’t talk to her and she has the meanest math teacher in the school. The only redeeming grace is her English, Mr. Bennet who gives her the attention she craves and sees her talents as a poet. Maybe this year won’t be so bad after all….

I highly recommend this books, like all of Freida’s books it is a quick, exciting ride full of twists and turns.

Freida McFadden sure knows how to write a story that grabs you and doesn't let go!! Goodness sakes I'm exhausted from staying up long past bedtime to read one more page! Looking for a book to make time fly (hello airplanes), McFadden is the author to chose! A huge thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for this ARC.

Another great Freida McFadden book. Typically I am an audiobook person, but I'll read a FM book. She did not disappoint in the least bit. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I really wanted to punch someone but refrained from punching my Kindle. Holy blood pressure raising twists at the end!

10/10 would recommend. If you enjoy reading a fast paced thriller then I would like no further. This is a quick read that will keep you drawn into the book from when you first pick it up. The prologue alone will make you want to know what is going to happen in the book. It is told in a dual POV which keeps things interesting. I would highly recommend so you can explore the store of Eve, Nate, and Addie! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I LOVED this book! The classic Freida twists keep going until the very end. The Teacher is one of those books you can't put down because it's just that good. I can’t wait for The Teacher to be released as an audiobook because I will definitely be listening and trying to spot any clues I may have missed!

Wow this book was amazing! It is not my first McFadden book but I think this is one of my favorites. It is so twisty and I loved the dual narrative. Freida McFaddens books are extremely entertaining and that's why I recommend her books all the time.

Frieda has done it again!! And this book does have more triggers than her normal stuff (child grooming), but I think it was very well done for the story she was telling

And that final twist!?! I didn’t see it coming!!! And I thought I finally guessed something!!!

I’m so happy I was chosen to be an ARC reader for this - everyone should read it when it’s released

I loved this one! I really didn’t know what direction it was heading and was totally surprised by the end. I think this is one of my favorites of Freida’s books.

The characters weren’t all that likable but I was pretty invested in their storylines and how everything fit together.

Wow! There are no words to say how much I loved reading this! From the start, I didn't want to put it down. The characters were very well developed, and nothing led me to believe what was coming at the end. I definitely recommend that everyone read this book!!!

Freida McFadden did it again! She had me gripping my seat begging to know what happens. This was a cannot put down book. Freida has a brilliant mind and I’m eternally grateful that she is willing to write it all out for us to read.

I am a big fan of Freida McFadden, and this book does not disappoint! This book is about married couple Nate and Eve, who teach English and Math at a local high school. They do have a student in common, but there experiences with her are very different. They also both have secrets from each other, some more dangerous than others. This book was so good! I loved the way it kept me guessing, and there were twists and turns up to the very last page. I did feel that some of the characters were more likable than others, and it was interesting to see how relationships changed throughout the book. I definitely recommend this one! Thank you to NetGalley, and to the author and publisher of this book for an ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

What an insane book. Freida McFadden’s The Teacher is a fast paced book filled with twists and turns that leave you on the edge of your seat.
I thought that including three points of view would be extensive but McFadden makes it work. If anything, I wanted to read each characters’ perspective on the matter.
I will say that this book is filled with trigger warnings, so please check those out! Other than that, another fantastic novel by Freida McFadden!

Thank you to NetGalley for a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
THE TEACHER by Freida McFadden is due out on February 6th, 2024.
This one is a twisty, twisted, and page-turning thriller.
The story is told from multiple first-person perspectives, which helps to ramp up the suspense, even as questions get answered, new ones are created. The book centers around high-school Junior Addie--who is also the focus of an alleged teacher-student affair scandal from the previous year that resulted in the termination of the teacher in question. It also focuses on two new teachers of Addie's during her new year at Caseham High: Eve (Math teacher who is unpopular with the general student body) and Nate (English teacher who the entire student body crushes on).
What unfolds is a shocking narrative that keeps you guessing all the way up to its shattering and undoubtedly controversial conclusion.
This book is a fast read, and if you've read other Freida McFadden books before, you'll likely burn through this one with the same voraciousness as her others.
There were a few moments that didn't necessarily work for me (like Eve mentioning that Addie had her husband's class earlier in the book and then totally panicking, oblivious, when she finds out about it later on) but it's a fun read despite a few gaps.
THE TEACHER is a surefire bestseller and a buzzy bookclub pick.

You can never go wrong with a Freida book. Although this one wasn’t my favourite, it still had me hooked and was hard to put down. You always think you’ve guessed the twist..and then the last chapter, or in this case, the epilogue, throws you for a loop. What a ride!

I enjoyed how the book was fast paced and a quick read with short chapters. I also loved how many characters were unlikable (or likeable) and the ending changes your thoughts. Goes to show how you can never judge a book by its cover! I went through a range of emotions while reading this book.

I have to agree with others about the epilogue not making entire sense. But, because this is fiction, I will set aside my queries and just take it for what it is! Still an awesome read and awesome twist(s)!

Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC!

3.5/5

every time i think a frieda mcfadden book can’t get any darker… it does.

i had no clue which direction this book was going in. i was incredibly grossed out for a good portion of the book and one of the relationships (we know which one) made me incredibly uncomfortable. i was also frustrated for the majority of the book because of the way addie was being treated by her peers and the lack of action taken by her teachers?!?

either way this book was so freaking good and i truly expect nothing less from frieda mcfadden. she’s an author whose books i prefer to go in blind for. i never know what to expect and i’ve really enjoyed the ones i’ve read!

thank you so much to netgalley and poisoned pen press for an e-arc of this book!!

Absolutely twisty book. I couldn't quite figure out which way the story was going, and even stopped to explain the story to my husband because I wasn't sure what was going to happen next! And then when I thought the story was over... The epilogue threw in another twist. I read this in one evening trying to figure out the twists between the characters. Can't wait to read another Freida book!
