Home Alone is a Christmas classic and this cookbook is a no brainer. The cookbook has everything from classic breakfast and breakfast you can whip up on the go. Well written, organized perfectly and easy to follow this is the perfect cookbook gift and kitchen staple.
I loved it! So nostalgic and actually made me want to cook. I especially liked that a drink chapter was included. So fun!
I had so much fun with this book. We are massive fans of Home Alone and watch it all year round, so to have the opportunity to try some of Kevin’s breakfast, lunch and dinners was amazing. The recipes were so easy to follow and they mostly turned out good. Some of the ingredients I couldn’t get so I improvised with the nearest thing I could find. I love that I have this to use during the Christmas period. I would highly recommend it.
This is a lovely cookbook for the holiday season, especially for anyone who loves the Home Alone films. The recipes are do-able and the photos are charming.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I definitely loved this Home Alone cookbook!! It is by far the most nostalgic to my family memories of celebrating the holiday season and watching Home Alone. It has long been a family tradition and now my husband and I's holiday tradition. I especially enjoyed the careful selection of items used in images to capture the essence of Home Alone and the names of recipes were even a greater touch. As adie hard fan of the Home Alone franchise, I absolutely loved this cookbook and highly recommend to those who do as well. You can tell the author Carefully created this masterpiece that is a holiday must have treasure in their home!thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to see this wonderful creation to use for years to come.
It’s doubtful that there is anyone out there who hasn’t seen the Christmas Classic Movie, Home Alone, at least once. One of the main tenets of the movie is that Kevin doesn’t know how to cook and must find ways to eat. The Unofficial Home Alone Cookbook: From a "Lovely" Cheese Pizza to a "Highly Nutritious" Mac and Cheese Dinner, Tasty Meals Inspired by a Holiday Classic, by Bryton Taylor, includes dozens of recipes that could have been important to Kevin and that he would have eaten. The book includes comments, vignettes, and helpful information at the beginning of each recipe which make the book fun to read cover to cover, even for those who don’t want to cook or bake. As the reading goes on, it will bring back memories of the movie, and inspire everyone to watch it again.
The recipes are written in the traditional manner with a list of ingredients followed by step-by-step instructions that are easy for anyone to understand. Most of the recipes contain standard ingredients that are readily available and many are even on most pantry shelves, freezers, or even the fridges of most homes. There are enough appealing recipes that kids as well as adults will find several things they want to cook.
Although there are several beautiful, professional photographs included, there isn’t a photograph of every recipe, which is the only drawback to this cookbook. However there are enough photos that the cookbook is still a recommended, fun cokbook to have on the shelf. Most would-be cooks will find they are kept busy with a long queue of fun dishes to make.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

This is a super cute and festive cook book! I loved all of the Christmas-y vibes and aesthetics that are in the books pictures and theme! This book is perfect for the huge Home Alone fan! I cannot wait to remake more recipes from this! This is a perfect cool book for Christmas and to help get you into the Christmas Spirit!
This was such a neat cookbook. I love that the pictures look like they're taking with a 90s style filter and styled to look like they're in the McCallister's home. Very nostalgic and aesthetically pleasing. There are a lot of recipes in here, they are very straightforward and seem like something little kids can get involved with! Not to mention, the pictures of the food look delicious... I can't wait to make some of these with my kids!
Thank you to Netgalley and Adams Media for the ARC.
All opinions are my own.
This would be an amazing gift to family and friends. The recipes are simple and nothing fancy. I wish there were more pictures but other than that I loved this cookbook. Can’t wait to make more recipes with my niece this holiday!

The Unofficial Home Alone Cookbook
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🎄 The vibes:
- cookbook
- home alone aesthetic 100%
- deep references/names
- Usable recipes
🎄 My thoughts:
Omg. The recipe names are so amazing. “Hyper on 2 Chocolate Glazed Donuts”; “Crowbar Crunch”; “Paint Can Punch”. These recipe names and the introduction info really bring the spirit of Home Alone in all the right ways.
The pictures in this cookbook are AMAZING. They are spot on! They have the complete Home Alone aesthetic and brought me so much joy. They literally look like they were taken in the McAllister house.
This cookbook is the perfect gift for a Home Alone lover. I wouldn’t normally want a cookbook- but I would 100% want this one.
As for the recipes- I feel like there’s a lot in here that is doable. Foods that sound “normal” and family-friendly, which is important to me personally when looking for a cookbook. I have kids, and frankly I don’t want to cook/eat super fancy foods that I can’t pronounce. So I loved that this one felt very down to earth.
For a review- I really wanted to test a recipe out, so I baked Mitch’s Morning Mayhem Muffins. They’re unique (made with Frosted Flakes) and they were super tasty. My entire family loved them. I baked them with my 4 year old and he had a great time. I’m not a baker (I only bake things that come from a box) and I felt confused throughout but the end result was delicious.
Releases October 31, and I highly recommend this for any Home Alone lover.
Thank you so much to Bryton Taylor, Adams Media, and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of this book to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved the recipes in here and I'm so excited to continue making them! Definitely perfect recipes for Christmas movie season
Festive and enjoyable! I liked the recipe titles and read many of them out to my spouse with a chuckle. However, the recipes were rather simple, with just one bookmark in the entire book. I was looking forward to the drinks department, but they didn't sound appealing. Overall, an enjoyable Christmas read, but not one I'll be reading again soon.
KEVIN!!!
For fans of the Home Alone movies (and if it doesn't have Macaulay Culkin in it, it doesn't count!), this nostalgic Christmas cookbook will hit the spot.
Recipes included are holiday classics like egg nog and hot chocolate, Kevin McCallister's favorites like cheese pizza and macaroni and cheese, and Home Alone-inspired concoctions like drinks called "Wet Bandits" and "Rusty Nail."
Dishes range from easy, kid-friendly snacks like homemade Chex Mix to complicated sauces that "taste like Christmas" and will require an adult's help.
Recommended for Christmas lovers and Home Alone fans.
Book Review: The Unofficial Home Alone Cookbook by Bryton Taylor
⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5 stars
Can we talk about how cute that cover is? It's so festive and colorful, I can't get enough of it! Now, let's get into my review. I gotta say, I'm all about themed cookbooks, especially when it comes to holidays. So you know I was beyond excited to get my hands on this one!
The Unofficial Home Alone Cookbook is a super fun and nostalgic culinary adventure that lets fans of the holiday classic, Home Alone, relive all the iconic moments through 75 yummy recipes. From appetizers to desserts and everything in between, this book has got you covered.
One of the standout recipes in this cookbook is the "Highly Nutritious" Mac. It's not only a champion's meal but also goes perfectly with a glass of milk. This recipe is just one example of how the author gets creative and playful with the dishes. Another highlight is the "Lovely Cheese All for You" recipe, which will satisfy even the biggest cheese lovers out there.
What makes this cookbook so special is its ability to capture the Home Alone vibes and turn them into tasty creations. The "Eating Junk and Watching Rubbish" recipe encourages you to indulge in all the junk food, just like Kevin McCallister did when he was home alone. It's all about bringing back that nostalgic and whimsical feeling to your dining experience.
And let's not forget about the visuals! The Unofficial Home Alone Cookbook is a feast for the eyes. The pages are filled with colorful and festive graphics that perfectly capture the movie's spirit. The food photos themselves are drool-worthy, making it hard to resist trying out every single recipe.
But it's not just about looks. The book is also super user-friendly, even for beginners. The instructions are clear and concise, and each recipe comes with a list of ingredients and cooking times. Whether you're a seasoned chef or just starting out in the kitchen, you'll find these recipes easy to follow and enjoy.
In a nutshell, The Unofficial Home Alone Cookbook is a must-have for all Home Alone fans and anyone who wants to add some magic to their holiday meals. With its delicious recipes, beautiful visuals, and easy-to-follow instructions, it's guaranteed to bring joy to both nostalgic fans and families watching the movie together for the first time. So why not celebrate the holiday season with a meal fit for Kevin McCallister himself?

I am absolutely obsessed with this cookbook!! The title, cover, recipes, graphics, cute little stories - everything was amazing! I am definitely trying these recipes and I will be buying copies of this book as gifts!! I definitely recommend this to everyone. It gives all the nostalgia and feels of Christmas!
I've been collecting cookbooks for many years so only unusual ones earn a spot on my bookshelf. This is one that I'll share every Christams as we re-watch the clasiic movie. Oh yea, the recipes are really good too. You could easily plan a movie night party with them.
I grew up watching the Home Alone movies, so often that they feel like home. When I saw there was a Home Alone inspired cookbook, I leapt at the chance to review it, quicker than Kevin can set up a series of elaborate traps to protect his home.
The Unofficial Home Alone Cookbook has you covered for every Home Alone food you could ever wish to eat along side the movie from breakfast all the way to your evening cocktail. I loved the names of the dishes - Airport Scramble, Sticky Step Spare Ribs and Paint Can Punch.
The one drawback is that there isn't a picture for every recipe in the book, but lots of the recipes have tip sections which give you hints on cooking techniques or ingredients you can substitute. It's a mouth wateringly tempting cooking book, and the perfect excuse to set up a Home Alone movie marathon day, complete with three meals of Home Alone inspired food and drink. The perfect way to celebrate the lead up to Christmas.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Very cute! We love Home Alone in my house ! The cookbook definitely brought a smile to my face. The book was themed well but some of the recipes left much to be desired. If I was buying it just for the recipes- I wouldn't buy it. Some of the photos- especially the desert photos- could be better. Also, since I'm going to share the book with my kids- I wish there were more pictures. The story blurbs are fun. I bet this book would be even more successful if aimed at children. I can't wait to share it with my family! This title is best read in color.
This is such a fun cookbook! I love the idea behind it as not only nostalgia but cozy holiday. One thing I wish for in cookbooks though is a photo of each recipe. I love very visual cookbooks, so I wish this had more of it.
