An ABC oriented cookbook in which recipes are organized alphabetically, more or less, with themes that relate to the iconic movie, ’Home Alone’ released on November 16, 1990 in the theatre. This movie has undoubtedly been watched on television in the years since by many families, parents and children alike.

The first ‘recipe’ in this is, for instance, titled ’Aftershave Aperitif’, followed by ’Airport Scramble’, with titles such as ’Filthy Animal’, and others giving a nod to the movie. There are lots of recipes for drinks and dips if you’re thinking of inviting friends or neighbors over, and if they stay overnight, there’s also recipes for Breakfast Burritos, and more.

This may not exceed the culinary craft of the likes of Julia Child, but it would make a fun gift for those old enough to have seen the movie in their younger years.

I'm a huge Home Alone fan. My husband and I watch it like crazy during the holidays. This cookbook is for all Home Alone fans. The recipes are pretty basic so anyone can make them. I can't wait to make the "Highly Nutritious " Mac and Cheese Dinner. I recommend giving this cookbook a try.

It's a fun recipe book that's includes recipes perfect to introduce kids for cookies or help people like me make something edible. Many of the recipes include items that are already in the cupboard and inexpensive to procure.which is great.

A fun read for home alone fans!! Certainly not for the foodie, but fun nonetheless. All of the recipes were simple and known, but the concept is fun and, lets be honest, theres never too much home alone!!! This would be fun to host a party!

This cookbook has so many recipes that I am looking forward to trying out. The element of home alone adds to nostalgic element for me as I loved watching this film growing up at Christmas.

The Unofficial Home Alone Cookbook is cute and would a fun way for families to cook over the upcoming holidays. There are a wide variety of recipes included with some closely relating to the movie while others just use a play on names of characters or places in the movie. Simple ingredients and kid friendly recipes. The Iron Grill Cheese Sandwiches are cute and would probably be first up on my list to make. Thank you to Adams Media and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review. 3.5 stars.

Home Alone reminds me of Christmas and I love cooking and cookbooks so I quite enjoyed browsing this book.

I enjoyed reading the recipes and choosing which ones to try out. With quirky recipe names and fun food what is there not to like about a book like this. Great that it is divided into different chapters/categories as well as having references to different parts of the movie.

A fun book and so many recipes to make for yourself but even more fun to make them with the family.

Thank you NetGalley and Adams Media for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Home Alone came out when I was a kid, it was the perfect to enjoy at that age and it’s classic enough that I still enjoy it. I was excited to hear about this cookbook and really excited when I got approved for an early ebook edition on NetGalley.

I have a few thoughts that I tend to stick to with cookbooks and one of them is pictures. I find pictures to be very important in a cookbook. Show me how good the finished product looks. If a cookbook is light on pictures I’m not likely to love the cookbook. Now, I want to point out that I saw an early copy and there were several blank spots in the book that looked like they might be held for pictures later. So, I’m
Iffy on this front. I can just say that the copy I saw didn’t have many pictures.

If a cookbook has a tv or movie theme then I also love to see how the book makes connections.
My favorite is when there are recipes for foods that were actually in the movie.
Now, I can’t even remember many foods in both of the original Home Alone movies so this is more of a challenge. I remember cheese pizza, ice cream sundaes and macaroni and cheese. You’ll find all three in this cookbook.
I think the recipe ideas are cute but don’t have a ton to do with the movie.

I saved two recipes to try:
Mitch’s Morning Mayhem Muffins
Johnny O’s Spaghetti Uh Ohs

I thought the drink recipes were pretty but don’t know that I’ll try them.

I had fun flipping through this book and I thank NetGalley for the early copy.

I am a huge Home Alone fan so when I saw there was a cookbook inspired by the movie I could have run around waving my arms like Kevin! Such a great idea!
However, I also thought… “just how many recipes can there be?….. well, there’s got to be pizza, popcorn, mac and cheese, and ice cream… “ but I couldn’t think of more than that. Do not despair though, this cookbook includes those as well as many others, inspired by the movie.
This is true American comfort food. Don’t be surprised when you see Frosted Flakes and Doritos as ingredients in some recipes. There are recipes with highly processed ingredients but there are also recipes with non-processed ingredients, and if the “junk” food is not ok with you, you can probably skip it (you don’t “have” to sprinkle chips on casseroles…but it sure is tasty). I can imagine many of these recipes would be popular for families (kid-friendly) and obviously would be perfect for a Home Alone themed party.
There is a good mixture of recipes, divided into breakfast, lunch, snacks & appetizers, dinner, desserts, and drinks. Some are very time consuming (i.e. donuts) or include many ingredients, but there are quite a few more basic recipes that anyone with a basic knowledge of cooking can whip together quickly.
The photographs are beautiful and the entire book is festive and delightful and a very worthy homage to one of my favorite movies.

Oh my word! What a fun cookbook! Not only are the pictures hilarious, but the titles of some of these recipes are so great! The recipes look delicious and it looks like you could make a great Home Alone watch party with any of theses recipes! This would make an excellent gift!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of The Unofficial Home Alone Cookbook.

What fan of Home Alone wouldn't want to read this?

The recipes are inspired from the hit movie with punny titles and plenty of references to the movie and funny lines like the "Crazy on 2" chocolate donuts.

Sadly, the recipes are basic and nothing to write home about (pun intended).

I wonder if the author's favorite characters are the Wet Bandits because many of the recipes seem to reference the kooky burglars often.

There are photos but not enough to go around.

This is a good cookbook for a fan of the movie or if you want to get kids involved in the kitchen and learn to make basic recipes.

This is cute and fun and nostalgic. It is very basic though, so perhaps the appeal is for families to cook with very young kids. Most of these recipes are things most should know by their teens.
The layout was very nice. I wish there were more photos with each recipe though.
I could see how this would be fun during a very busy holiday season to get a little bonding time in w the kiddos though.

Festive and fun! I enjoyed the titles of the recipes and read many out loud to my husband with a chuckle. The recipes were pretty basic though, I only bookmarked one in the entire book. I was excited for the drinks section but those did not sound appealing. Overall, a fun holiday read but not one that will get a lot of use at my house.
