What an adorable little book. I found the instructions in this 'how to' to be much easier to follow compared to others in this genre - the breakdown of steps was great & very beginner friendly. I am a big cat lover, so this book was perfect for me & I absolutely adored it. I now have a sketchbook page full of adorable little fuzzies & I am OBSESSED. I will 100% be coming back to this one in the future, it's great. I also loved how the cuteness theme ran throughout the book, lots of colour & adorable illustrations. So much fun!

I love kitties, and I'm instantly drawn to anything cute. If there's another thing to know about me, I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to learn how to draw and create art. So naturally, this book is everything I love (and need). The kitties and art style are absolutely delightful, and Olive Yong does a beautiful job at teaching!

I want to emphasize how much of a beginner I am. However, the instructions were so clear I could quickly follow along. I especially loved that there was a wide variety of kitties to draw, doing different things that kitties do in all the positions with all the facial expressions. Mini Kawaii Kitties is a guide I will definitely come back to and sit down with and use as a resource as I try to learn how to draw. I'm super excited to have this in my roster of books to teach me how to draw in an art style I adore.

This has every kind of kitty you could ever want to draw, and more! The sketching instructions and illustrations are clear, simple, and easy to follow - perfect for a total beginner for me. Each one has a step by step to follow, adding more detail each time. This is a lovely book to help you bring all sorts of cute cats to life in your sketchbook. My favourite section is “Bon Appetit” - cute and delicious!

A fun, easy to follow little guide for drawing a variety of Kawaii Kitties. I was able to replicate quite a few on an iPad and my daughter enjoyed drawing them in her sketchbook.

A pretty straightforward overview of drawing basic characters that are still adorable. I really liked how it introduce and explained what Kawaii was. And the directions were so easy to follow! The entire setup was done well and I like how easy it is to customize what you want.

If you love cats and drawing them, this one is for you! It has great instructions and easy to follow steps that make drawing cute little kittens easy for anyone. That’s my favorite part about books like this. You can give it to a skilled artist to have a fun relaxed time or a child, or anyone who thinks they can’t draw.

Here, there are so many different cats to draw, it will be fun for many hours. I’m excited to pull this out with my son and have a drawing session.

I think for me though, my only gripe is I’d have liked consistent step by steps - some were done laying down shapes and others were outlines. I also found it weird that breeds was placed after all the strange/funny cat options. So the chapter layouts confused me. Other than that, it will be a great addition to my current drawing book collection. The mini editions are so nice to throw in smaller purses.

Mini Kawaii Kitties by Olive Young is a fantastic book to learn to draw with. I love the kitties when my granddaughter is learning to draw and color pictures she wants me to draw too. The illustrations make it easy.

Excellent book to cat lovers of any age, recommended for children or beginners in drawing. Various breeds, facial expressions, activities, dressed up and fantasy, there is so much. The drawing tutorials are very detailed, made really very easy for anybody. Cute illustrations and much humor.

I just loved it! Thank you NetGalley for this copy. I always wondered if a book could suffice to learn how to draw these cuties and yes I could! My 9 year old daughter could! We will go buy the printed version so we can draw again and again.. there are also lots of tips too, they really helped

This is such a cute book. I love how the author gives different names for different kitties, such as The Dozer, The Student, etc.

I love how all the kitties look so chubby as well.

I have read a few of these books by Yong before and I found that this one was consistent with the previous ones in terms of the way it is set up and how the various instructions are laid out on the page.

I really like that you get a quick introduction to the tools of the trade, but that the bulk of the book really is on putting the kitty drawings into practice. The best parts for me are the initial pages that go through how to vary and modify features and details to mix up the different kitties and to bring a personal touch to them once you have mastered the basics; and the sections for Playing Dress-Up and Discovering Breeds. I was a little creeped out by the cats as food section, because while it's cute, it wasn't really expected or something I'd be inclined to draw the way they are presented here.

The instructions for each cat are really straight-forward and easy to follow, and I think it would be hard to not be able to draw these from the way the book is set up. I'm not as good at the colouring with pens, so I stuck with coloured pencils and did just fine. Also liked that the focus was really on the instructions so there wasn't a lot of "chatter" once we got into the sections after the intro.

All in all, a good way to learn to draw and likely for multiple ages.

This is a cute book! It has instructions on drawing cute cats in different scenarios and stances! The instructions are helpful and there's lots of fun ideas in the book. While the style of the cats is all the same you can definitely make them their own. A great find for anyone wanting to draw more or likes cute cats!
