I love Andrew Knapp, the joy his dog Momo (and now Yaya and Boo) brought to the world. I loved the tenderness in this one and will continue to pick up his books.
Finding Momo Everywhere is a delightful read with beautiful illustrations for children and dog lovers!
An awkward-to-review book, partly as I was getting a file where the artwork was clearly in quick draft form and not finished, and I could not guarantee the text was signed off on, either – its rhythm hitting a few roadblocks on its rhyming way through things.
Either way, what I saw was a book showing the lesson gifted and passed on by a man whose dog had died. Momo the mutt had been a great one for hide-and-seek and larking about, but when he disappeared for good he left a lot of emotions in his owner. But still, if we were to stop moping we'd see the fun and games and mutual love continuing.
This is a valid and important lesson for many an old dog's young human companion to learn, but why this breaks into a cheesy 'Where's Momo?' section, to pad the narrative out, I don't know. What I saw clearly had room for improvement, and it might well have got that before the public saw it – even with it out a month already I wasn't seeing a done deal. Certainly a recommendation is no foregone conclusion.
The author reminisces about the good times he had with his beloved dog Momo who has died. The permission to grieve expressed in the book is helpful for anyone who has experienced the loss of a beloved pet.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I love these books about Momo the dog and how the author places him in different places around the book for kids to fined. I think that it is a lot of fun for kids.
Coincidently, this book showed up as a 'Wish For It' title on NetGalley the week our dog Momo, short for Molesley, passed away. I requested it, and a few months later was granted access. Also coincidently, I was given access to this book the day after we moved out of the apartment we shared with Momo and into a new house. Though excited for our new home, my partner and I were both a little sad about leaving Momo's last home behind.
All that to say, this book showed up at an opportune time as a reminder that we carry our pets and their memory with us, and that our pets want us to be happy wherever we go. Very sweet story with aspects that will appeal to both children and adults.
Find Momo Everywhere was a beautiful book about a loving relationship with a dog, Momo. I think this would be great for anyone who has recently lost a pet. The illustrations were great, I loved the nature scenes. It was very heartfelt.
This is a poignant and sweet finale to the story of Momo. Simple rhyme and multimodal illustrations bring Momo to life one last time, as the author reminisces on their time together. An appropriate way to explain the passing of four legged friends to young readers.
I have read Knapp's other Momo books and fell in love with the way he captured his admiration for his city and his dear pet. This book was a testament to that love and was written in an accessible way where readers, (familiar with his work or not) can not only understand the feelings that come from losing a loved one, but how we can learn to keep them in our hearts.
I enjoyed the illustrations opposed to the photography Knapp usually uses in his work. I felt it gave an appropriate direction from where the theme of the book was going.
Thank you for this advanced reading copy. It was an absolute pleasure to read.
Absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking! I was not expecting to start crying over a picture book, but here we are. This will pull at every heartstring if you have a pet you love and miss
Extremely well done, with the trademark Momo seek-and-find feel layered with an emotional message about grief and love. The rhyming text is really effective and the book as a whole felt like a labour of love for Momo. So lovely!
Momo is a fun loving dog who enjoys playing hide-and-seek everywhere. Readers are encouraged to find Momo in various pages. As time changes, so does Momo and his game of hide-and-seek.
Andrew Knapp cleverly engages readers by looking for Momo on various pages. The use of rhyming text moves the story along at a nice pace. Knapp writes a wonderful book on losing a pet with a positive message for those dealing with a myriad of emotions.
The use of real places such as buildings enhances the story when playing Momo’s favorite game. A highly recommended book for anyone coping with loss.
This book by Andrew Knapp is a tribute to his canine companion, Momo, who he immortalized in the wonderful "Find Momo" series. Momo has passed away, but this book reminds readers that "sadness is love finding somewhere to go". The rhyming text can be a bit clunky in parts, but contains powerful reminders of how memories can heal the pain of losing a loved one. This is a mixed media book, which shows an illustration of Momo in some of his favorite photographed locations. It is a very different book than Knapps other ones, but could be a great book for a home or in school setting such as a guidance counselor's office.
Another lovely Momo book, though tinged with sadness. It deals with loss and grief in away that is accessible for children.
A truly heartfelt book about pet loss - something that I think sneaks up on all of us, young and old. The book is comforting without wandering into toxic positivity or insincerity and I think will be a helpful book for anyone who has lost a pet and is finding it to be a difficult time.
Beautifully written and illustrated I can see this being a comfort to many - it was to me.
