This was a demon and angel romance. I enjoyed how the author spun the classic Enemies to Lovers Taylm. And I also loved the UT version of forbidden romance, tied with romcom that she gave us in this book.
I first started reading this story prior to knowing it was part of a series. While it’s a great standalone story I do recommend reading the first book, Imperfect Angel prior to this one as it will give you more background into the amazing world and characters Christi Barth created. This was a cute story.
Another fun paranormal romcom from one of my fav authors. This was a thoroughly enjoyable light spooky season romance read that will make you laugh and swoon. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review! Recommended for fans of authors like Erin Sterling.
This book was so much fun! The chemistry between the two main characters was incredible. I loved reading the banter between the FMC, Eva, and the MMC, Gideon, which is especially important when the two main characters don’t like each other when they first meet. I especially liked that even when the characters finally got together the banter remained.
Cute story, unique premise that I haven’t read before. I enjoyed it but felt like I didn’t get as invested in the characters as much as I would have normally liked.
A fun fast paced read, the story of Gideon and Evangeline. The meet in a work based setting, but there is more to both of them than meets the eye. I liked how it was told from both points of view.
Hell of an Angel was a fun and funny contemporary urban paranormal romantic comedy that had a great balance of romance and banter, two of my necessary elements for a memorable romance. I enjoyed this on its own, but I wish I would have known that it was the second book in a series so I could have read that first. Although this book can be read as a stand alone, I would recommend reading this in order, because there were some references to characters and actions from Imperfect Angel, Book One of the Unlocking his Heart Series, that created occasional speed bumps -- it didn't really halt my reading but it made my smooth ride jolt a little. With that noted, I did enjoy this book and its original take on the romance between a Dark Angel and a Nephilim. Evangeline and Gideon have the best romance as they work together to help her become human and help him find who is killing others of his kind, and unexpectedly trip across their own romance.
I Volunteered to read an ARC of this from NetGalley and Entangled Pub
This book had a lot of potential, but it was not for me. I did not end up enjoying the storyline or the way the three POVs was written. I felt a bit like the third POV was hard to get into and took me out of the story more than I could easily look past. The characters had so much chemistry together, which I love to see, but I did not feel particularly invested in it. The mystery element was fun, but the romance did not do it for me.
"Hell of an Angel" by Christi Barth is a captivating read I enjoyed. The story follows Evangeline, a dark angel striving to become human, and Gideon, a half-angel Nephilim.
Barth's writing is engaging, with witty dialogue that kept me hooked. The chemistry between Evangeline and Gideon is electric, adding depth to the story.
While I wished for a bit more exploration of certain plot points, overall, "Hell of an Angel" is a delightful blend of romance and supernatural elements. Fans of paranormal romance will enjoy this entertaining read.
I *love* angel romance books and there are so few on the market these days. This one was delightful! Fingers crossed that Christi Barth writes a queer angel romance one day since she mentioned some of them having queer relationships.
Dnf at 50%, but I still think this book has a lot of potential and that it is not for me. The characters, their conversations, and the whole thing didn't appeal to me.
The third-person narrator was rather confusing at times, and I believe it would have been easier to read if there had been two points of view or if each chapter had been divided into Eva's and Gideon's pov.
Thank you Entangled Publishing, NetGalley and Christi Barth for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review
What a delightful five-star read. This is the second story in the Unlocking his heart series, but they really could be read as stand-alone, as they each tell a different person’s story. Gideon wasn’t always someone I liked, his personality just rubbed me the wrong way, but then Evangaline stands up to him and shows him a different side, and we get to know him better and that really shows us who he is. Evangaline was just sublime, watching her grow into her wings, proving herself and the love of her family really warmed me so much. Never have I wanted to scratch an itch so much, when you read the story I am sure you will want to scratch it too.
I really enjoyed the premise of this book. Overall it was funny and romantic. Great dynamics between the main characters. A great supporting cast of characters. While technically a sequel can be read as a standalone.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
First -the cover is pure gold! It actually made reading the book that much more exciting.
Second, this can totally be read as a standalone which was perfect b/c I went back and read book 1 after reading this one bc I liked it so much.
There was humor, a good deal of romance, lots of action, and great characters. I loved everything about this book
It was a new take on the mythology of angels, demons, witches, gods. I was totally not expecting [but in a good way] the addition of mermaids and flying unicorns. Can't wait for more in this series.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing for sending me a copy. Despite this late review, I did enjoy the characters and the plot of this book!
A good book that was definitely worth the read, it was hard to get the at times but I didn’t hate it.
Thank you to NetGalley for a free e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
This was super cute - whether you're a fan of contemporary romance or a little paranormal romance, I think this was an adorable read. I was swooning alongside the characters and it made for a fun read.
i didn’t personally love this book i think it was the plot but also a lit bit of the characters. i am appreciative for being sent this arc and i cant wait to give this author another try!
A fun read with some very unique characters. The author has great imagery.
