It frustrated me how perfectly imperfect the book was. It had great main characters, a good plot if you don't get too scholarly with the politics dynamic, and some nice side characters.
However, all components seemed detached from one another. Both Hannah and Erik were great characters on their own, but I thought they didn't have chemistry. They were almost thrust together into a setting to play the role of lovers. I just wasn't in love with how their story progressed.
And although some didn't find the appearance of her brothers' and their families a good addition to the book, I liked them so much. They took the book on another level and made it fun to read.
Overall, I had fun reading it, it's definitely not a fabulous read but it's a great book to read when in a reading slump.

Highland Surrender is the fifth book in the 'Sons of Sinclair' series. Now that all the brothers (The Horsemen) are happily married, we have moved on to their only sister's story. Hannah, was a recurring character in all the previous books. She deserved a happy ending of her own after being neglected by her father for so long. Still, throughout the series, she failed to interest me.
Even though I did finish this book, it failed to interest me for many reasons. First of all, the romance seemed to take a back seat. I felt more importance was given to the political actions rather than the characters, and the romance felt forced. It was a disappointing read for me, especially as the end of an exciting series.
Finally--the daughter of Sinclair finds her HEA with a Norse warrior!
Hannah Sinclair is a really sympathetic character--at almost 30, she's a strong woman in her own right but having the infamous "Four Horsemen" as brothers certainly isn't doing her love life any favors. She's trying not to be jealous of her sisters (in law) and their growing families and happiness with her brothers, but her biological clock is ticking...loudly.
When a group of (alleged) Norse silver traders show up on the Sinclair shores, it seems like the perfect opportunity for her to take her future into her own hands. But Erik has a completely different agenda...
Well, maybe not *completely* different. He does like at least one of Hannah's ideas...though her brothers for sure won't approve ;)
I really enjoyed Hannah and Erik's story. Ms McCollum did a great job of raising the stakes for both of her characters and making us (and them!) worry about how they could possibly achieve their HEA...which made it all more satisfying when they came up with a plan that worked! (And bonus points to Hannah for rescuing herself from the enemy's evil clutches--sure, her brothers were on the way, but she had things under control!)
Can we please, please, PLEASE get stories for Trix and Libby set ten or so years in the future? Those two are going to keep their future love interests on their toes for sure! The way they managed Erik and his men had me snort laughing more than once...

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Erik Halverson, leader of the Wolf Warriors of Norway, must save his sister. A prisoner of Queen Sophie, his mission is to bring Hannah Sinclair to the queen in exchange for his sister. Hannah is also a warrior and will not make it easy to be kidnapped. Erik must win her trust and the trust of her one brother. Once Hannah is kidnapped it's war. A very complicated plot with the only solution for a happy ending. Descriptive sex.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.
Another fun steamy adventure from Heather McCollum.
I haven’t read all the books in this series (yet) but it doesn’t really matter (I think). It’s a pleasant way to spend the afternoon diving into this historic romance.
Heather McCullum's books always make me happy! They never try too hard and are always a quick, fun read. This was a nice addition to The Son's of Sinclair series. I loved that Hannah finally found love of her own.
I've enjoyed this whole series. They're a nice break from heavier reading. The characters are all likable, and the relationships are all super hot. Overall, this book was just a great time all around and a fun diversion.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the last book in the Sons of Sinclair series. I thought this was a pretty good finish to the story. I enjoyed the story and was glad that Hannah got her HEA. I would recommend reading the books in order but they were pretty well done.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for this arc. I highly recommend this book and I have to read the rest of the series. The characters had great chemistry.
After I got confused in the series with The Highlander’s Secret Avenger, now I got the right series: Highland Surrender is of the same series as the Highland Beast. And although you can read it as a standalone, it is much more satisfying to read about the different siblings in the book. It makes the whole story much more relatable and enjoyable.
In this part it is about the Sinclair sister, Hannah. If you have read about her brothers, you understand why Hannah is as tough as she is and why she is not afraid of the big Norse man, who claims not to be a warrior (but is impressively good with weapons…).
A wonderful story about family, loyalties and enemies to lovers. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
After reading this book, I had to catch up on the rest of the series. This is full of all the good stuff, romance, humor, suspense, & action. I was captivated from the beginning & couldn't read fast enough.
Heather McCollum writes entertaining historical romances and with this the fifth and final book in the Sons of Sinclair series she has done it again. In 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 Hannah, the only female sibling to the four Sinclair Horsemen finds love amid all the crazy that is her family and political intrigue of the time. Her attraction to Erik is strong and mutual, it practically leaps off the page. But the road to happily ever after is not an easy one but they do get there. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and am giving 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!
i am just a girl and i love highlanders, yes sir, take me in your arms, speak Gaelic to me and love me. i love highland stories and this one didn't disappointed me one bit
A very enjoyable read with some excellent chemistry. I loved the plot.
Many thanks to Entangled and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
A great pick for anyone who loves historical romance; it was a great adventure from start to finish. I loved the FMC and the MMC was perfectly swoon-worthy. Loved!
A sexy historical romance. Hannah, the sister to the Sinclair brothers, aka the Four Horsemen, Scotland's toughest warriors, is nearing thirty, with no marriage prospects. (Her brothers have scared them all away.) She wants a baby of her own, so she decides to take things into her own hands. She soon has her sights set on Erik, a Norse "trader"... but Erik is actually the leader of a group of elite warriors, come from Denmark to abduct Hannah to control her brothers. A sticky situation to be sure. Warriors never surrender, but this fiery Sinclair may be enough to bring a Norseman to his knees.
This is obviously part of a series, but works well as a standalone. Hannah and Erik's relationship didn't start out on the right foot, what with the kidnapping and all, but their chemistry is just unavoidable. Very steamy once they give in to the attraction. I love strong, capable leading ladies like Hannah. And I really enjoyed her relationship with her sisters in law, all of whom are also tough women. Erik is a warrior, through and through, but with an emotional motive behind his actions. It's easy to root for their love. The two young stowaways were delightful additions to the story. Interesting and engaging characters all around. Would recommend to historical romance lovers.

I have been waiting for Hannah's story and it is finally here in Highland Surrender!
I knew Hannah’s warrior brothers were going to make it tough on anyone who wanted to court her and I was right! Thankfully the hero in the story, Erik Halverson, is very much up to the challenge.
The one is steamy, with a strong heroine and a hunky Norse warrior hero. This was a fitting end to the story of the Sinclair siblings.
Each book in the Sons of Sinclair series is a standalone, but once you have tried one, you will want to read them all!
4.5 rounded up
First book I've read in this series, so I can say that it can most definitely be read as a standalone!
It was a lighthearted book that combined scandinavian and scottish aspects and characters, which was right up my alley. I think I might check out the rest of the series now!
Thanks to Netgalley, the author and Entangled Publishing for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 5th book in the series but I do feel that it can be enjoyed as a stand alone.
Hannah's brothers were raised as the biblical horsemen by their father. They are all married with children but Hannah is still a maiden who desperately wants to be with child.
Erik has been ordered by the dowager queen of Denmark to kidnap Hannah so that she can control the Horsemen.
I liked Erik and how strong Hannah was. Trix and Libby were also fun additions to the book as were Erik's men and Hannah's family.
The relationship between Erik and Hannah was great and the end was fantastic.
5 stars.
I love the Sinclair family and this book was wonderful as usual. Very spicy and fun to follow Hannah on her adventure to find her perfect forever. Amazing!
I really enjoyed Erik and Hannah's story! We've seen Hannah throughout the rest of the series and I was so happy to be able to read about her HEA. McCollum did not disappoint!!
