I struggled to finish Finding Mr. Purrfect. There were a lot of chapters that, if I had been the editor, would have completely cut - they didn’t move the story forward or create character growth.

The story also started while the two main characters were on vacation in Mexico, which was never brought back up once they returned home. By the last quarter of the book, Charity is competing in a cooking competition.

There’s also fake dating, judgey parents, toxic family drama, kitties (and not enough of them!).

I my opinion, this would have been better had it stuck to one lane: is it a vacation romance or a culinary competition romcom? Fake dating was fine, but some of the family scenes were too much for me.

I considered DNF-ing this one, but that’s not really the person I am so I powered through, continually hoping it would get better.

Thank you to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the digital review copy.

I loveeeee fake dating and of course I love cats. The cat café romances by Codi Gary are quite cheesy but very fun. They’re highly entertaining on audiobook! Would recommend!

Finding Mr Purrfect is a cute, enemies to friends to lovers, fake dating type rom com with a lot happening. It starts with a trip and then goes through job struggles, family issues including divorce and health concerns, some childhood trauma, and then also a reality show. It was so much happening at the same time and I do wish there might have been one less thing - either focus on the reality show or the normal family stuff but it was all rushed at the end to get through it all. I enjoyed the book though, it was a quick and easy read but just maybe too much happening.

I loved the story and the continuance of her series. I hope the series continues. I can't wait to read the next book by Codi Gary.

Fake dating is the best trope (in my humble opinion), so the moment I read the summary for this book, I knew I had to read it! And I'm happy I did! I would definitely recommend to those who think it sounds good!

I received an e-ARC from the publisher.

📖 Short synopsis:
Charity, with a knack for good choices in friends and desserts, acknowledges her dating missteps, notably with Will, whom she agrees to fake date to appease family expectations. Will, steering clear of commitments, sees this as a chance to ease his mother's queries and potentially win Charity over. Their pretend relationship soon reveals deeper feelings, hinting at genuine affection.

💭Thoughts:
I loved this book and devoured it in a few short days. I loved the banter between Charity and Will and found myself laughing more than once while reading. I could feel the chemistry between Will and Charity as they pretended to date. This book was cute and an overall great read.

Ugh. I wanted to like this one. It was supposed to be a fun easy read and I love the fake dating trope. But man, this writing is eeeeesh. It’s as if the author doesn’t understand subtlety and nuance, and instead instead is following a formula. Step 1: establish backstory and motivations of characters. Step 2: create incredibly awkward dialogue between the two to show why they shouldn’t be together but why they also secretly are interested in each other. Truly ick as I was reading it. I got 25% through and had to stop because it was written so terribly, I just couldn’t read any more of the dialogue.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for providing me with an eARC of Finding Mr. Purrfect in exchange for my honest review.

This was a cute, light romance that I enjoyed. I always find it fun to revisit stories and characters from previous reads as this is a follow up to A Cat Cafe Christmas. Plus all the cats and the cat cafe setting is so fun! I enjoyed the character arcs for both Charity and Will as they move through the story.

While I thoroughly enjoyed reading it there were a few things that I didn’t love. There felt like quite a bit of miscommunication and overreaction in certain elements. There was also a lot of subplots going on that at times it was a bit much. I think I would have enjoyed picking a subplot and expanding more on that.

Overall I think this is a fun quick read that readers will enjoy if they like fake-dating, cats, family dynamics and closed door romance.

Princess Fuzzypants here: While romance is not a genre to which I normally gravitate, add in kitties and I will give it a shot. I have read other Cat Cafe books and enjoyed them and this did not disappoint. While the kitties do not match-make as they do in some, they play a very important role in the stories both as new adoptees and as the rulers of their respective homes.

Cafe partner Charity is tired of being put down by her family and wants to stop the attempts at finding her a mate that is suitable to them. Will, best friend of the boyfriend of Charity’s partner is also tired of getting pressure to find a partner. The two come up with a plan to be each other’s fake other half. In spite of the fact that they two are made for each other, they both do a remarkable job of ticking the other off and driving any wedge possible into a prospective relationship. But, as in a romance, something occurs to make them see each other as they truly are. Even when the reader knows that love will find a way, it is still satisfying to see them come together.

Whether you are a fan of romance, a kitty lover or just someone who would like to read a nice story with a happy ending, I can recommend the book. I did enjoy it. Four purrs and two paws up.

Simple and sweet. It was nice to be back at the Meow and Furever cat cafe, which we were first introduced to in ‘A Cat Cafe Christmas’ (both books can be read as stand-alones), this time we get a closer look into the foodie side of things, which I appreciated. Each chapter begins with a description of one of the cafe’s menu items (with cat puns!) and everything sounded so delicious. This time the romance focuses on Kara’s best friend, Charity, and Ben’s best friend, Will. Charity is tired of the playboys she seems to gravitate towards and wants to find someone who will commit and work towards long term relationship goals, but Will has a fear of marriage because of financial insecurities. In a twist they pretend to date to get their respective meddling families off their backs… and yeah you can guess the rest. It’s a cliche romance about two people overcoming their misconceptions and fears to realize they can have something great together. Plus cats. This is also a closed door romance. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever publishing for the ARC.

This is the first book that I have the pleasure of reading by Codi Gary. This is the 2nd book in the “Meow And Furever Cat Café Series.” Charity is a baker and co-owner of a cat café with her best friend and business partner Kara. Will is Charity’s best friend’s friend. Charity and Will find themselves vacationing together to no fault of their own. Charity thinks that Will is a womanizer and has sworn off that type of man. Will is not a fan of marriage nor sharing a bank account but he still wants a significant other. Will is dealing with his mom’s illness and her wanting him to settle down. Charity and Will’s friends have went off on their own on their vacation. With it now being just the two of them they embark on a hot steamy night together. Charity propositions Will to be her pretend boyfriend to keep her family at bay. Will happily obliges since he has no interest in marriage. What Will and Charity did not realize was that their fake relationship would take a turn in the direction of a real relationship.

Thank you, Netgalley and Forever Publishing, for allowing me to read this book. It’s such a cute and heartwarming book. I honestly adored reading it. It was easy to read, cozy, heartfelt, funny, and romantic. I loved the frenemies and fake-dating plot. 4/5. Who wouldn’t love reading about cats, yummy treats, and frenemies to lovers? It sounds like the perfect recipe for such a great book! I would describe the book as a cute rom-com with a hint of cats. I loved reading every minute of it. I would recommend this book to those who are looking for a fun, sweet, wholesome, fake-dating read.

There was some tension, there was sarcastic banter, there was sweet friendship moments and kind gestures… all around just a quick easy read if you’re looking for a frenemies combined with a fake dating low stake, low expectations storyline. Don’t overthink the rushed resolution of the “we can’t be together” conflict and you’ll have a lovely time. I did appreciate the interracial and the entrepreneurial journey aspects of the story.

Sadly I didn't loved this one, it has all the tropes that I enjoy plus a cat cafe. The scenes at the cat cafe were sweet but I felt a little frustrated with the plot in general and the baking show (which I was looking forward but it started after 50% of the book ..) There was other small things that made the character difficult for me (e.g., Will's reason for not get married... Hmm okay? Not enough! ) Otherwise, loved the cat, love how real was her family (and sad), this was not for me but maybe it can be for you :) Thank you NetGalley and the author for the e-copy in exchange of my honest review.

I'm so in love with this book. I love that the main character is a cat rescuer, I love that three cats were adopted. I loved that there was no spice, it didn't need it.

Charity and Will have so much chemistry. I love Wills character growth. Charity's mom even did some growing of her own.

Perfection!

I adored book one and I adore this. Codi Gary is a RomCom master, and the way she weaves the cat theme throughout just brings such a smile to my face. The love story is lovely, and I the chapter headers, as always, are superb. This is a fun story to pick up in the winter months to put a sunshine smile on your face!

Finding Mr. Purrfect was a fantastic read featuring a fake relationship between a café owner and the best friend of her best friend’s boyfriend.

After a series of poor relationships, Charity Simmons has sworn off men and decided she's going to put all of her energy into making the Meow and Furever Cat Café a success. When her best friend Kara and her boyfriend Ben have to back out of a trip at the last minute, Charity finds herself on a trip to Mexico with Will Schwartz, Ben's best friend. Charity knows Will is nothing more than a womanizing charmer but after her parents get on her case about being single, she convinces Will to fake-date to get her parents off her back. Will has no interest in long-term relationships but he's not about to say no to spending more time with Charity. However the more time Charity and Will spend together, the more their fake relationship feels real.

After reading A Cat Café Christmas, I really liked Charity's character so I was looking forward to reading her romance. Plus fake dating is one of my favorite romance tropes so I was excited to pick this one up. Right away Charity and Will have amazing chemistry and I loved the banter between them. Eventually after the two fake date for a while, they realize there could be something real between them and agree to give a real relationship a shot. They do want completely different things out of life, Charity wants a husband and family while Will just wants to date without ever getting married, which does put a bit of a damper on things. I really enjoyed the direction their romance went and liked how they worked out the issues between them.

Throughout the book, Charity and Will are both dealing with issues in their personal lives. Charity is having problems with her overbearing family as well as trying to work out how to expand the kitchen at the café to expand the catering side of the business. Will is dealing with problems at his job as he works out what direction he wants to take his career. I liked how the author handled each of these storylines and particularly enjoyed how the expansion to the café one wrapped up.

Overall Finding Mr. Purrfect was a great book and I would highly recommend it if you're looking for a cute contemporary.
