This is a sequel to Cat Cafe Christmas. I would recommend reading that first. The main trope in this is fake dating. It was a cute book and a quick easy read.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC!
Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes so once I found out that’s what this book is I had to request it. Thank you so much!! It made my heart happy. This was such a good book and so easy to read. The writing style was great and it really did grab me from page one.
I didn’t realize it when I started reading it, but this book is a sequel to Cat Cafe Christmas, so highly recommend you read that first before you read this story. In this book we have Charity, baker extraordinaire and co-owner of a cat cafe, who gets stuck on vacation with her best friends boyfriends friend when they ditch them at the last minute to go see family for the holidays. Charity has always found Will appealing, but has sworn off charming womanizing men. Will is a guy who everyone thinks is charming, but it’s a front he puts on so others don’t see how anxious and lonely he is. He’s a great guy who wants to find someone to spend his life with, but he doesn’t believe in marriage or sharing a bank account. On the last night of their vacation Charity and Will get close and realize they might have misjudged each other. But can there be a future for them when one doesn’t believe in marriage and the other wants the white picket fence? A cute quick read story for cat lovers and baking fans. I received an ARC, and this is my honest review.
You had me at fake dating and cats. It was an adorable story and super easy to read. I love that it’s a clean romance and super funny and charming. Will it leave you deep in thought and thinking about it for months later? Probably not. But it’s a great break from the toughness that is the real world.
This book was everything I need right now. Its was a sweet funny fake dating romance with great friends and tense and frustrating family relationships. I like how realistic the reactions and communications were and how easy it was to surround myself in these characters. A very cute romcom that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Finding Mr Purrfect is book 2 in a series but can be read as a stand alone. This is a Hallmark type romance, closed door, some family drama which creates depth to the characters. and or course cats!! Loved this one and the chemistry between Charity and Will is instant, starting out as a one night stand, turned into fake dating, throw in an event that makes them question if they are right together and you get a great book I recommend checking out.
Thank you netgalley and publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
I give this 3 🌟
Zero 🌶
This was just okay for me. I honestly did not feel any connection between Will and Charity. There simple was no spark and in the end I honestly wasn't even rooting for them to end up together. Will's sister being asexual seemed like a random plot point to try and be inclusive to the LGBTQ+ community and it just fell flat.
I was disappointed that they just summed up Charity's stint on Bake That so quickly. I feel that more focus on that could have made this book better. Instead of all the drama with Charity's family.
Overall, this book just fell flat for me. It wasn't poorly written, I just didn't care for the story and did not connect to any of the characters.
I received an early copy of this book and I want to say how glad that I did. It is a fun romantic story with really engaging characters and cute kittens! This was a charming story about people who stand in their own way, for happiness and success. I enjoyed getting to know all of the characters and they were portrayed with empathy and realism. This was the first time I have read a book by this author, but it will definitely not be the last. I will be looking for more going forward, of course, that is after I re-read this one!
A delightfully charming romance. Some family issues. Several cats. Engaging and enjoyable light entertainment. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
I liked the author’s previous book and saw this had the fake dating trope so I immediately had to give it a try. Unfortunately I did not enjoy this one. I didn’t feel the romance and felt a lot of the secondary plot lines overshadowed the main storyline.
great romance and enemies to lovers story and i noticed that it took place in the Sacramento area. I didn't read the 1st book in the series but I did notice other characters mentioned in the book from another series. Loved that they found their way to each other and glad to see cites mentioned in this book. But I couldn't figure out where the shop was or the non profit. great romance and loved the friends.
I adored A Cat Café Christmas to say I was thrilled for this one would be an understatement.
Finding Mr. Purrfect by Codi Gary was a fun, humorous and the absolute purrfect story to get lost in.
I mean what’s not to love here with cats, coffee and romance?
The fake-dating and frenemies is what roped me in and I was stuck once I started.
Charity and Will had the best chemistry and banter going on here. She writes such relatable characters you can't help but love them and avidly root for them.
Her books are such warm delightful reads and this is the perfect rom-com for cat lovers.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Forever for the opportunity to read this ahead of its publication date in return for my honest review.
I really liked this story! Charity and Will have a fun and romantic new year’s eve that leads to some miscommunication, hiccups, and a fake relationship. I loved that a lot of the miscommunication was handled swiftly and intentions were attempted to be made clear sooner rather than dragging it out. I loved how Will becomes such a sweet and safe space for Charity, navigating some toxicity from her mother. And Charity gives support and love to Will dealing with his own family issues. overall, I loved how these two navigate each other between sizzling chemistry and annoyance, eventually becoming such a sweet and tender love for one another. this is also a very fun story! I loved the first book in this series, being a cat lady myself I’m obsessed with their cat cafe! And I loved seeing Kara and Ben again :)))
thank you for the arc :)
Charity is a co-owner of the local cat café who has unfortunately fallen in love with her business partner’s boyfriend’s best friend. Will is a graphic designer, but deeply wants to go out on his own and follow his dreams. After they meet on a tropical Mexican vacation, they come back to their lives, with Will feeling Charity’s icy attitude towards him. In a pinch, after her parents won’t stop trying to set her up with the perfect man, she has to pretend that Will is her boyfriend.
This fake dating trope carries on throughout the story, until Charity finally admits to her parents that her and Will’s relationship was faked, in an effort to keep their family together and happy. With her life now falling apart and Will’s mother becoming older and more sick, Charity pulls out the hail Mary and auditions for a baking competition, and maybe gives true love a chance?
** Spoilers ahead**
Guys, I was SO excited to read this book. I have a few problems with it:
1) the plot jumped around so much that it felt like there should be more than one book to contain all of the plots. Unfortunately, this means that not all of the plot points were fully fleshed out. Like the competing bakery that was going to buy them out and then offered a business deal– what happened with that? Or Chris, the man Charity’s dad was trying to set her up with? Did he just fall off the face of the earth? And, the baking show plot only took up two chapters, which is definitely not enough to develop the evil that is her competition, Dayton. And, the fact that Will practices Judaism was only mentioned two or three times in the story, when it seemed to be important to Charity at the very end of the book, which seemed unnecessary.
2)It’s unrealistic: there were no actual curse words in this book. Although I’m not saying every adult uses curse words, a book marketed as a romance without any religious sub-genre is unrealistic if it has zero cursing in the dialogue.
3) There is little-to-no resistance to their romance. Yes, they both storm off and argue like every couple does, but when they do, it doesn’t feel like they’re making themselves stay away from each other, or resisting each other. Like all good romance novels, the audience wants them to be together, but for readers to say “No, what are you doing! Go to her! Confess your love!!” there has to be some resistance to their romance.
This was quick read that had some cute moments, but ultimately was just ok for me.
In this follow-up to A Cat Cafe Christmas (which I enjoyed), Charity and Will find themselves in a fake relationship after a night together on vacation in Mexico to ward off their meddling families. They both have their own personal and professional issues they are facing and gradually learn how to lean on each other for support as they navigate it all.
I had more interest in Charity and Will’s separate lives than anything to do with their relationship. I didn’t really feel a connection between them. Things got better in the second half of the book between them, but it still felt like a bit of an up and down rollercoaster while they tried to figure out how they fit, and not really in a way that I believed they could make it work. I did really like to see their personal growth with their families and the complex dynamics on those relationships being worked through.
This book made me not only want to adopt all the cats mentioned but I also wanted to eat all the treats from the cafe. I laughed so much while reading this book. It also had just the right amount of spice to it.
Cute cover and story. I appreciate the multicultural representation. It was a little flat. Too much telling vs showing. It was cute though. I prefer romances where the characters form a deeper connection instead of silly fighting. Lots of potential but it needs another revision.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Forever/Grand Central Publishing for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviwing this book. This is the 2nd in a series, but reads well as a stand alone. For me, this started out confusing, I didn't understand Charity's unkindness to Will. I guess they just didn't communicate. Then she just lets it all out and clears the air, and then regresses. I liked Charity and Will but boy did they have hang ups. Which makes them seem more real. Charity's family was so phony. I found this to be cute, but the angst got sort of old. Hot and then cold. My fault then your fault. Shows how important open communication is. 4 stars
I have read better “fake dating” trope storylines. This one fell flat. The characters are two-dimensional, the MCs are pretty awful to each other when they don’t get their way or try to protect their own feelings, and everyone in the book needs a good dose of therapy. It got better as the book went on, but I’m talking over halfway through. If this weren’t for an ARC review, I probably would’ve DNF’d.

I loved A Cat Cafe Christmas and was excited to read this follow up featuring two supporting characters from it. This is a standalone so you don't need to have read ACCC but I'd recommend it b/c it's a really great read.
I went in with very high expectations and Finding Mr. Purrfect was a bit of a letdown. This book is all about the family drama to the point that the romance felt very overshadowed by it.
While I wasn't crazy about this book, I would read future books from this author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, Forever (Grand Central Publishing).
