She did not respond and a day later Samantha was dead. Sienna has recently found her sister’s secret diary hidden away and after reading it begins to have doubts about the accident. So when she is invite to spend a weekend away with Samantha’s friends she decides to go and question them about it. Secrets and lies are then are revealed and she ends up putting her own life in danger. This book was very addictive, full of suspense and intrigue and one I could not put down. A recommended read.

A thriller that kept me riveted to the pages! It's fast paced and challenging plot is surprising and invigorating.
I didnt connect with any of the characters in this book and I think that played a big part in my rating. The start was really slow , but the ending made the book for me.
Full of twists and turns, who is telling the truth? This book kept me up long after midnight, it really had the “one more chapter” hook! I really enjoyed it. especially the ending.
Fast-paced murder mystery perhaps. Great well built characters all around. So much mystery that keeps you turning the pages. Highly recommend and will be checking out her other books.
I have read similar stories before - and love the concept of a heartbroken twin seeking the truth about what happened to her sister.
I didn’t really like any of the characters, but did enjoy the 2 POV.
I was surprised by the ending, which is good for me as I spend a lot of time trying to figure this out normally.
An ok read if you like suspensive thrillers.
the weekend away is a time for Sienna to confront her sister Samantha's friends about what really happened to her and who she actually died. Sienna is looking for answers, a year after her twin sister suddenly dies and only Samantha's friends can shed some light. what started out as a weekend away to remember Samantha quickly turns violent as skeletons are brought out from the closet and fires break out literally and figuratively. this book has a lot of twist and surprises and it keeps you hooked till the very end. a well paced book that brings out the truth in more ways than one and really makes you question friendships and the authenticity. this is my first book by miranda smith and i really enjoyed this one.
The Weekend Away by Miranda Smith and Narrated by Madeline Pell was a brilliant audiobook from with lots of twists and turns throughout with a heart-stopping twist that just left me just stunned. I loved this audiobook and the narrator was excellent. This was an audiobook that just kept on giving and was so hard to stop listening once I started to play it.
I highly recommend this audiobook / book I loved it.
Big Thank you to NetGalley, Ms. Smith and Bookouture for the chance to listen to and review this ARC! I loved it!
Wonderfully suspenseful. Tense and absolutely thrilling. So so addictive and fast paced. I was fiendishly turning the pages, all the while glued to the edge of my seat as the suspense rose to almost breaking point. Just brilliant.
Good thriller, grabbed me right off and kept me reading. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book
A passable story which did feel like a lot of others I have chosen recently.
Quite good build up of tension with some sneaky characters to be dealt with..
I would have thought that a pending forest fire would have been more obvious to the lodge occupants than it seemed to be
Not a bad read.
Sadly, I didn't care for any of the characters, really. Maybe it was just a missed connection?
Mystery was pretty standard. Not amazing plot twists I didn't see coming. Overall, it was a decent read. Good intrigue.
Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read this novel***
What a great book!!! Page Turner!!!
Twist and turns that makes you want more, a book that you will not put down till you know what happens.
Development of the characters and the storyline was done with a great ease and did not feel rushed thru. Nor did you have to wait for the story to continue.
While this one was a little bit of a slow burn, I was invested from the start. I was quite often yelling at Sienna for her poor choices, but going off to a cabin in the woods with her sister's friends who might be keeping secrets about her death kept me on the edge of my seat.
Trying to decipher what the diary meant as she also dealt with the lies her sister's friends were feeding her kept me wanting more.
I was lucky enough to both listen and read this one and thought Madeline Pell did an excellent job of letting the story shine while she narrated the book.
If you are looking for a book about friendship, lies and deceit, then you need this one!
This is a magnificent book that takes you on a who dunnit and has you doubting everyone. I wanted justice for Samantha, I wanted the killer to be found out and I couldn't stop guessing which one was the killer. Theres so many unexpected twists and turns and even shocks that you wont see coming!
Diving into "The Weekend Away" by Miranda Smith was like embarking on a thrilling journey with Sienna as she unraveled the secrets surrounding her twin sister Samantha's untimely demise. 📖💥
🤩 The premise had me hooked from the start, but I was left craving more – more character depth, more intricate relationships, and more juicy secrets. 🕵️♀️🤫
😬 While it may not have completely satisfied my hunger for depth, it did keep me on the edge of my seat with its suspenseful twists! 🔥🔍
“‘You’re accusing us of killing her?’ Matilda asks, outraged. Even that accusation seems strong. There isn’t enough to lead to that conclusion. Yet. But I think all of them are holding something back.”
My sister died. Her friends lied. And now I’m going to learn the truth…
This was a very fast paced read that I was sucked into immediately. How did Samantha, the very successful and beautiful twin to Sienna, wind up dead? Did she kill herself? Was it an accident? Are her friends involved? Sienna is hell bent on finding out.
After finding her sisters journal, she decides to infiltrate her sisters friend group to find answers. And what a wild ride it becomes. You don’t know who to trust, who is telling the truth, or who, if anyone, was truly loyal to Samantha. As the story progresses it seems as if these people weren’t really her friends at all. Or were they? I found myself frequently surprised by the turns and also rooting for Sienna to get to the bottom of this mystery.
The audiobook was great! The narrator did a wonderful job of differentiating the many characters with her tone. She had me fully invested in this murder mystery and all emotional at the conclusion. A great read and a wild ride!
