The dialogue is so good between the mom and her son - reminded me of how my teenager acts! The book gets juicy fast. I thought Stewart crafted an exciting, edge of your seat, book! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Five stars.
As always, I truly appreciate getting the opportunity to read these books before they are released.
While this book had great potential, it fell very flat for me.
I found the position the main character found herself in as a teacher wasn’t very believable.
I am a teacher myself and would never put myself in this position with any student of mine.
Once you hit the halfway mark i felt the author went too fast and started going in all different directions and it was hard to follow.’
Would like to read something else from this author to give them another chance.

This teacher is different from the others, she gets involved, probably moved by her past traumas, more than she should with her students, which has made her win their affection, but also some problems. What none of them as big as the one she faces when her student Daisy tells her that she has been abused, which directly affects her family and triggers her old trauma.
This book had several plot twists that managed to impress me, and that kept me on my toes until the end. I liked it a lot.
This book is AMAZING! I am so grateful that Bookouture and NetGalley sent me this ARC.
You must read this book when it comes out on October 20th! It will be on KindleUnlimited.
I read The Teacher in less than 12 hours. The ending was full of twist after twist after twist! I never knew what to expect.
I WILL be reading more from this author! 😚🤌🏻
Wow! What a book! I couldn't read it fast enough. The tension and pace were absolute magic! Brilliantly unsettling, with characters so deftly woven that you never quite know who – if anyone – you can trust. Another riveting and powerful psychological thriller from this talented author.
This was a well-written book but it was wildly unrealistic and I was so frustrated. As a teacher, I was screaming at the main character, Elizabeth, from chapter one. Instead of reporting a troubled student to administrators and CPS, she took matters into her own hands by meeting her outside of school, texting her, driving her home, etc.
The amount of twists and turns this book had was crazy. Again, not at all realistic. The ending fell flat and felt like the author was just trying to cram as much sensationalism into the story and it seemed rushed.
I liked the character development and the dual timelines, but unfortunately there wasn’t much more to enjoy.
Thank you to netgalley and the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The Teacher is a thriller/drama type story exploring what happens in relationships involving traumatized people and how it resurfaces later on in life in their future relationships with a backdrop of intrigue and people pursuing their own vendettas.
Plus side:
The story has interesting characters who are well fleshed out and their backstories are (mostly) well explored.
Has a strong opening and hooks within the first 20-30%.
Does a good job of exploring how trauma affects people and how people suffering from mental illness struggle with self-doubt and how people can take advantage of that.
Minus side:
This could be a personal thing but this thriller has so many twists and turns that it breaks immersion as it is so unrealistic. The plot twists did not feel natural; rather they felt like they were crammed in so that this would become a thriller but maybe some people would see it differently and actually enjoy that.
SPOILER ALERT! Please do not read below this if you do not wish to be spoiled.
The ending of the book is very meh, What purpose does it serve to end the book with the reveal that Jules was the one who killed Tucker Rutherford? Zero.
Rick as a character is a big faux pas. At first, he seems to be a well designed representation of a benevolent, but controlling partner and the middle story seemed to be heading into an exploration of whether he and Elizabeth could move beyond their hangups (her trauma, his controlling nature) but then he turned into an absolute caricature. Even the message being sent is an alarming + illogical one: a domineering/patriarchal person may not be a good person but that is a far cry from someone who would rape an underage girl in his sons bedroom! WTH!
Anyway, I think this is a fast-paced book that may be up your alley if you enjoy thrillers and do not want to think about what the characters represent or whether the plot twists make sense etc. For me, this was a little disappointing as I wanted this to be a deeper exploration of trauma rather than the surface level scratching we got so that this could be a thriller.
Geez the twists in this book were never-ending! Who is the true victim in this book? Who is the perpetrator? Just when you think you know what happened, something else is revealed. Elizabeth reaches out to a student, Daisy, because she sees so much of herself when she was younger in her. Then Daisy accuses her son of assault. What is Daisy trying to do? Why does everyone think Elizabeth is crazy? The true plots in this book are not what you think.
This is my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be the last.
I was fooled into thinking that this would be the usual domestic thriller, however how wrong I was. This book is outstanding.
The book is very well crafted, with some fantastic writing throughout. I was drawn in from page one and loved how the twists kept coming. There’s some serious topics in this book that were handled really well.
A must read book and one that I’d definitely recommend.
Well this book did not disappoint. This book follows a teacher who is concerned with one of her pupils and sees in her reflections of her own past. As she tries to help the student against her families wishes things take a sinister turn and when she is force to confront her own past she starts to doubt her own sanity as her family start to question her judgment. I can’t say any more without spoiling this but I read this book in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down and was blown away by it.
Elizabeth, a high school teacher, appears to have the perfect adult life—she has a beautiful house a teenage son, and a seemingly loving husband. When one of her students, Daisy, appears upset during class—she questions her to make sure she is okay. Elizabeth discovers that Daisy was sexually assaulted at a party—but by WHO??
I don’t want to give too much of a summary because I don’t want to spoil ANYTHING.
The Teacher is told from multiple points of view and with a dual timeline. There are so many twists in this book—at first it all seems pretty straight forward, but as more and more information comes out—you realize things are way more complicated than they originally seem. Tiny piece of advice—Do NOT skip the epilogue. There is a final twist that you do not want to miss! 🤯
I plan to recommend this book to others as well as continue to read books by Danielle Stewart—because WOW! 🤩🤓 I loved her writing style, it was easy to follow and kept me wanting more. 👍🏼
The Teacher will be released October 20, 2023. 🗓️
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC—I absolutely appreciate it! 📕
This gifted author has written a page turner. A teacher who cared about her students. Family members...secrets...Do not try to easily discern the ending of this mystery. It took awhile for me to guess. Secrets and red herrings abound. I liked this book. The characters are realistic, and the story moves quickly. I did not want to stop reading until I finished it. Thanks to Netgalley.
I read the author's previous book and I was utterly enjoying myself doing so. Now, her new book is to die for.
It all seems pretty straightforward in the beginning. You follow the flow and you like Elisabeth for being the person she is: trying to help someone in need because she recognises the signs.
The deeper you get into the story though, your eyes widen more and more and you mouth falls open. Every time you believe everything is disentangled, you find another twist waiting for you around the corner.
I totally love the structure of the story, the creation of the characters and the way the author makes you feel the pain and desperation too.
The characters are all caught in a sticky spider web, where the spider sometimes trades places with the fly and vice versa.
This book was like a knotted ball of wool and I loved it thoroughly. 5 stars
Thank you
